We have been to Casa Corona many times and have loved it. The food has always been good and the staff efficient and friendly. However, we went in the other night and it felt like something had changed. The server was unfriendly/annoyed and service was slow even though the restaurant was half empty. finally a Mexican restaurant in Marblehead that has great tasting authentic food. This was our first experience with Casa Corona and we were oohing and ahhing as we ate our steak and chicken burritos. The flavors were bold, and the sauces were unique. the steak burrito had a smokey flavor and it was very tender and cooked to perfection. It came with a side of chips and spicy salsa: what a treat.. We also ordered a side of their homemade guacamole. Don't go there without getting a bowl with your chips. The chicken burrito had a green tomatillo salsa that was delicious. I cannot wait to enjoy another meal at Casa Corona and look forward to their BYOB permit as a beer would compliment the meal perfectly. They are the best. I am a Marblehead resident, and go there quite often. The interior is nice. The bar is clean and great to watch sports on. The food is excellent. Especially the burritos. It is clean, and wait staff is friendly and courteous. Can't say enough about that. read more

We ordered take-out from here with Uber Eats. I was really looking forward to it, because we're looking for a go-to place for good fajitas. Unfortunately, it was nearly inedible. We got the chicken fajitas for two, and the flavoring did not taste like traditional fajita flavors. The chicken was served in about two inches worth of oil, which turned our stomachs. We went for the first time last night and loved it. The Seafood Burrito is heavenly (a lot of restaurants overcook shrimp but this was perfect). The chips were excellent, as was the salsa. I've only gotten takeout so far, but each time it's been good, fresh, and fast. The people there are nice. I feel badly that they've yet to get their liquor license, so things are slow. As a non-drinker, it's hard for me to understand that that would be such a draw, but apparently it is. I hope they get one soon. read more

Also, they have free wifi that works really well and it's not one of the open networks that is like kinda decent it's one of the locked ones and they have the password on the wall so you can login no prob! Horrible.... From top to bottom. I was SO hoping for a Mexican restaurant I could like. Like the Rio Grande that we used to have in Marblehead. But seriously? I was suspect immediately when I perused the menu and there were spelling errors throughout. If you can't even attend to the printing of your menu, HOW can you attend to the making of quality food? It doesn't take a genius to proofread spelling. The best part of the meal was the tortilla chips and salsa. Everything else was dreadful. The blandest Mexican I've ever had. I ordered a burrito and kept waiting with each bite to experience flavor. It wasn't there. The black bean soup was horrible and the beans looked like they were poured from a can from Stop and Shop. The service was ridiculously slow. Complaints all around me. Avoid this place... a true disappointment. read more

I grew up in Marblehead and have recently returned home due to some family concerns. There are not a ton of restaurants in Marblehead alone and so when I heard about Casa Corona, I was definitely interested in checking it out. It absolutely does not disappoint! We tend to do take out and while there is some risk of doing so, the food continues to be wonderful! The nachos are fantastic and the salads are good (though a bit basic). We recently tried the quesadilla and that also proved to be delicious. All I can say is that I will miss this place as a go-to restaurant when I head back into Boston! read more

I thought he misheard me due to his calm and non apologetic reaction so I told him again when he came back to the table. He said I know you already told me. Very rude and absolutely disgusting. Love this place! Sometimes a bit of a wait on weekends, but sometimes you go in expecting a 40 min wait and there's no one there! We love catching up with friends over huge plates of food, drinking Coronas and margaritas, and having a great time. Grilled chicken burrito comes with a green sauce. Veggie fajitas are a little on the greasy side (doesn't stop me from ordering it anyway) but are well seasoned. Wish they would put actual veggies in their vegetarian burrito but it's only rice & beans... waiters are nice, not overly warm but just trying to be efficient. Ask for the chipotle hot sauce (homemade). read more

I was really hoping the food would be great because I love Mexican. Ordered the pork carnitas and the chicken taquitos, take away. Service was fine and everyone friendly. The chips were fresh and warm, and the salsa that comes along with them was great too. We had dinner there for the first time last night! My husband and I started with the queso dip, salsa and chips. The queso was thin, but tasted different from other Mexican restaurants due to the jalapenos being tossed in. I love jalapenos so that was right up my alley! The salsa was good too, definitely had a kick to it. The chips were warm both times we received the baskets. I also had the Tropical Toucan with my dinner which was pretty amazing, they were definitely not shy on the alcohol! For my meal I had the combination dinner of two tacos with beef, and added on the sour cream and guacamole. I mixed the sour cream and guac into my tacos so I didn't taste any distinct, especially tasty guacamole that could have made it better than other Mexican restaurants, but still tasted fine. The beans and rice were average, but the portion was nice, I didn't feel like it was overloaded on my plate! The prices weren't bad either! For the queso dip, 2 beers, 1 specialty cocktail, two dinners it was around $50, which is what we normally expect to pay when the both of us go out for dinner with drinks! We will definitely be going back, especially since it's right down the road! read more

They had a great menu that was more authentic than what we see in this area. The food was presented well and tasted good...HOWEVER...I was a little worried regarding food safety due to reviews here. I got a combination plate with carne asada and shrimp, etc. The 3 shrimp on the plate were COMPLETELY undercooked. Very transparent. I didn't touch them. The service was very nice, but with the complaints about food poisoning , I would recommend a food safety course in this kitchen. read more

The food was pretty good mexican.. Standard. Nothing out of the ordinary. The skinny margaritas are delicious!!!! BUT we were sat and waited for 10 minutes until I had to get up and go over to the hostess in order for somebody to come over and take our drink order. At that point we were a little miffed but we continue to wait for a food which took 20 minutes from there to get our food in the food as I mentioned above is very mediocre Mexican nothing special it was good but I don't think I will be going back there. I love this place! They have friendly staff, great margaritas, and really good food! They hand squeeze the limes for the margaritas and they also have a really fantastic house tequila which is sweet and delicious. The prices are really reasonable and they have a nice fresh homemade salsa. I've tried the carne asada, tacos, enchiladas and the arroz con pollo-all were great. Excellent but - Buyer Beware....I first want to start by saying that this is my favorite Mexican Restaurant in the area. The restaurant is very clean and the food is very consistent and excellent - highlights are the best mole anywhere, fresh chips and salsa and great margaritas all at a reasonable price. My Husband and I eat in at this restaurant or take out, at least once per week. What I am extremely disappointed about as a very loyal patron, is the fact that they, time and time again, try to pass off their regular guacamole (not freshly prepared but bought in bulk) for their guacamole Fresca which is DOUBLE THE PRICE!! This happened to us again tonight and it absolutely infuriates me,! You should always get what you pay for and if I was clueless to the fact, as a lot of people probably are, I would have eaten it and that would have been that--but I am not clueless and want what I pay for. When I brought it to staff attention they "apologized", took it away and came back with the actual freshly made guacamole. I am still upset about this because the kitchen staff absolutely knows what they are putting out and this is not right. It especially infuriates me when this happens over and over again, especially when taking out. Shame on you!!! The owner needs to make this right and insure his staff is ALWAYS delivering what patrons order. If you are wondering how to distinguish the two - the pre-made bulk guacamole is glossy and mostly smooth and littered with a lot of onions and tomatoes, the fresh is more mat and very chunky in consistency and ....tastes freshly made. Hope this restaurant gets it together and stops charging patrons for something they are not getting. It hurts me to have to write a post like this but just can't take it anymore and hope they will take action to rectify this long standing issue. read more
