We stumbled upon this cozy little tea shop. These 2 gals were there and knowing it was our first time, we got a lot of help choosing our first teas to try. We decided to get one for allergy, one to fight the flu, and one for weight loss. Also, we bought two steepers. We decided to stay a little longer and had a cup of tea. Everything tasted great. For a moment, I was sipping my tea slowly (that is the big tip here), taking in the scents and steam and thinking how simple life can be with no social media, a great book to read, and a cup of hot tea. This little tea shop gets my top recommendation.

Came in on a Saturday evening after a long day of exploring Richmond before we went to get Indian food. This place has all types of teas and even a couple of Chinese teas--especially the puerh tea cakes. You can get cups of tea but you cannot choose to make a cup of tea from the tea cakes. I got the Silver Needle tea and while the tea was fragrant and light like a white tea should be, it was kind of watered down by how much water they steep with the tea. I wish they steeped the tea for longer given how much water each cup had. The strawberry kiwi tea was a bit of a skip but it is pretty refreshing. The earl grey was extremely fragrant and would make a great tea latte. While I wouldn't recommend making a tea latte with white tea, they said they are okay with making it. Overall, clean location and a cool place to get tea, especially since there aren't a lot of tea specialty shops here.

I tried Carytown Teas with my fiancé a few weeks ago. They have the most incredible array of teas I've ever seen in one place- every type I could imagine is here! Many I'd never heard of, even. They also sell lots of tea accessories- fancy mugs, teapots, warmers, honey sticks, etc. The interior is dark, cozy colors, with antique and quirky teapots as displays. All in all, a nice ambiance. I will say the first time we came, it was an hour before close, and I think the staff (2 older women) might've been a tad overwhelmed. No one greeted us, no one explained how ordering or pricing worked, no one offered to tell us about the teas or answer questions. If I'd been new to drinking tea, I might've left, since I wouldn't have known what to order. We eventually flagged someone down, and they were nice (if flustered), but she did forget the honey in both our drinks (since mine was cold, she tried to add it after, but it didn't dissolve and just sat clumpy in my cup). The teas we got were delicious, and subsequent teas I've had have been equally delicious. I would hope they put a little more effort into greeting patrons/speaking on their offerings on a regular basis, but I do think I caught them on a bad day. I enjoyed my beverage, and will specify honey more clearly next time.

The selection of teas at Carytown Teas is magnificent. They have over 250 and the menu is broken down into categories like green, white, black, etc. to make it easy to choose. The staff here are friendly and will let you smell all the teas you'd like! The space is inviting and they have a few tables inside in case you wanted to sit and drink a cup of tea. They have flavored sugar cubes like lavender and rose as well, which they allow sampling for! Side note, we sourced all of our teas here (russian caravan, almond, and orange tea) for a tea party we had at home. Everyone was impressed!

Wow. Wow. And more wow. This is a hidden mecca for tea lovers! My local friend nagged me to stop in during my recent trip to Richmond. I finally made it about half an hour prior to closing time last Monday. No one else was in the shop, so I was able to ask a bunch of questions and sniff so many teas before making any decisions. It's all loose leaf but if you're more of a bagged person (like me), you can purchase a big pack of tea bags too. I've only tried three out of my four teas so far, but I can't delay this 5-star review any longer. I am in love with this tea! I've struggled with insomnia for so so long, but their Sweet Oblivion -- made with valerian root -- is my new best bud. Seriously. I've been drinking it nearly every night this week and within an hour or two, I'm happily in dreamland. I can't remember the last time this happened. Nothing else, other than the medically-induced-wake-up-hazy Aleve PM, has ever helped, and this actually feels (and is) natural. I hope this persists! I also purchased the Purple Haze for anxiety (of which I have a crippling amount) and it has worked wonders in getting me to calm down. I love it! My other tea choices were the Long Island Strawberry and the Immunity Booster. The strawberry is really nice as a casual choice, but I haven't tried the Immunity one just yet. Their tea selection is vast. You can find teas that calm health issues, fruit teas, black teas, green teas, yerba mate, etc. And Patricia, the owner, is the nicest lady ever. We were chatting for a while, and I told her about how I'm considering a move to Richmond. She gave so many tidbits of advice. I so appreciated her input! We left at closing time. My total for four teas (2 ounces each) + tea bags was around $60, which really isn't too bad considering the high level of the teas. I assure you I'll be a loyal customer moving forward, even if I don't end up moving down there. After all, they do offer online ordering! Thank goodness.

I can't say enough about this place!! So small and cozy with a quiet atmosphere l! Perfect for some tea time and taking some tea as a gift at such a reasonable price! I will be back!

Lovely spot, my favorite casual tea place in RVA! Cute teaware, many types of tea, including my favorite: organic varieties. The person working there when I went was very friendly and helpful, and their new location is great! A perfect spot for some calming downtime, catching up with a friend or just grabbing some loose-leaf tea for your collection at home! A top RVA spot, for sure.

Calming spot to grab a treat, get some work done/journal, or catch up with friends in an aesthetic and modern cafe. Ordered the paradise tea with mango and avocado. The ambiance was clean and orderly. Upon entering, you grab a serving tray lined with parchment and some tongs. I settled on the pistachio cream filled pecan pastry, the almond twist, and strawberry shortcake. The beverage menu was extensive: matcha, flavored teas, cocoa, espresso/coffee, and more. We were greeted by pleasant staff at checkout and our orders placed in a parchment type bag for take out. They also have seating inside. The pastries were just sweet enough without being overly sweet, which I like. The pistachio cream was a perfect compliment to the pecan encrusted pastry. The almond twist was both flaky and crunchy with the sliced almonds on top, and the strawberry shortcake had layers of real strawberries, whipped topping and yellow cake that was moist. All were fresh. All in all, a great place to stop by for a morning pastry treat and tea/coffee while in the area,

It is fast casual - you order at the kiosk and grab a place to eat, listening for your number and/or text to alert you the food is ready. We arrived about 6pm on a Saturday night. It was busy and I grabbed one of the last two tables. It got very busy shortly after we placed our orders. The dining area is pretty big with plenty of bar seating around the windows. While we all ordered one after the other, our food didn't come out that way. Most of the food came out in about 25-30 minutes. The chicken was cooked perfectly. Juicy! Two people got tenders and three of us got sandwiches. The OG sandwich was very good, just messy! I ended up using a fork and knife bc it got too messy. The Mac and cheese was made with pimento cheese and was very good. My friend who got the fried green tomatoes said they were delicious and filling. Lots of goodies on top. Two friends enjoyed the collards. The only person who was underwhelmed was the person who got the Asian sandwich. We walked in to find the staff bustling, cooking, and prepping orders, and the smell of some delicious fried chicken in the air. I saw the kiosks and was not too thrilled with the Wawa experience, but we gave it a shot anyway, since fried chicken is one of our favorites. The process was simple and allowed us to add or remove anything we could want, so that was nice. While walking to find a seat, we saw a person panhandling in the dining area, but the staff promptly removed him from the premises. I ordered us the Pimento Cheese Balls for an appetizer, and I chose the Fried Chicken and French Toast as my entree because I always try the "chicken and waffles" at every establishment that offers it. My partner ordered the OG Chicken Sandwich without tomato, and it came with crinkle-cut fries. It was about $40. The chef proclaimed our order was ready in quick succession, maybe three orders behind the guests before us. We waited about ten minutes, maybe fifteen at most. We picked up the orders from the counter, and there was a mix-up on the syrup, but the chef promptly rectified the situation. He was a no-nonsense kind of guy; straight to the point. He seemed firm, yet kind. It was clear the day had been a busy one; he even told us as much, which was great to hear (busy = fantastic food). The French toast squares looked like rye or pumpernickel, and they emitted a sweet aroma, a delightful hit of cinnamon and brown sugar. I drizzled the caramel syrup on my chicken and toast, sliced a piece, and paired a bite of chicken with the toast. I closed my eyes to savor the flavors: the toast was crunchy and almost gooey (yet, not overly so), the chicken was crunchy, the sweet cinnamon-y flavors from the toast, the caramel from the syrup, and the tender, moist chicken were a match made in culinary art. I cannot sufficiently describe the French toast in a way that would do it justice; it was crunchy and semi-gooey, and all scrumptious. I can only say it was the single best French toast that I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Next, I tried the fried pimento cheese balls. Oh my. If you like mozzarella sticks, try these. I adored them: elevated fried cheese, for real. My partner enjoyed her sandwich as well; she ate everything except some of her fries. I saved half of my chicken and toast for today because I am like a treasure golem when it comes to delicious leftovers. I am going to air-fry the chicken and skillet-heat the toast back to its original goodness. I told the cooks that that was the best French toast that I have ever had, and I mean it. Do yourself a favor and try it if you're into French toast. This one is the GOAT. Side note: I spoke with the head chef outside, and he is from another branch (possibly Henrico?) to whip this location back into shape. Two words: "Nailed it."
