CHEAP WITH THE ICE CREAM There is a local Carvel a few blocks from my house, it's been there for quite a while, I like going there for cakes, sundaes and sometimes a pack of flying saucers. "Wednesday is Sundae" is one of my favorite times to go, and I go quite often! A very nice girl with glasses and nice smile is usually there, she always takes good care of me, but not this time - This time I had a girl give me the cheapest sundae I ever got in that store, I even took a picture. She filled the middle, not the cup. I'm paying for the cup. IF YOU FEED YOUR CUSTOMERS, YOUR CUSTOMERS WILL FEED YOU - This upset me. Having a nice big sundae cup on a hot day is fun, and makes me happy, but not this time, I was upset, because I know, this was deliberate cheapness. HOW DO YOU DO THAT TO YOUR CUSTOMERS? Whoever that girl was, thank you, you ruined my day. I'm going to go back next Wednesday, if I get the same treatment, I'm going to just buy some Ben and Jerry's, AT LEAST THE CUP IS FULL!!! read more

This was not carvel ice cream. Went today for a soft serve vanilla. It was beige in color and tasted like it had no dairy. I have been eating carvel my whole life and this establishment is not using carvel products. I used to frequent this place when it was owned by the prior owners. Wont be coming back. read more

Came to grab a birthday cake for hubby with hubby (not a surprise). He insisted on a plain cake (because he don't eat baked goods so an ice cream cake sounds great!). We arrived and looked at their vast options and chose this plain round cake with blue frosting (blue not pink since he is a boy). There was a small cute snowman cake (but too small) and I reminded him that he wanted a plain cake-- I should had gotten it because it was the first time he showed interested. Staff was helpful and wrote "Happy Birthday" on it for us. No candles provided or offered for purchase. I guess we got used to Tous Les Jours bakery that provides a plastic cake knife with some cheap candles. I haven't had ice cream cakes in so long and remember the chocolate crunchies being the best part. Their cakes now have less crunchies than they used to have. I wish there was more. read more

Due to the Coronavirus, this birthday gathering was a small one. Typically, we are 9 of us celebrating another year. My favorite Shakespeare's quote is "with mirth and laughter let old wrinkles come." I'm always the optimistic one among my friends. I'm thankful for all the texts pouring in when I woke up. It's good to know I'm loved and appreciated. It's nice to get gifts and all. But I think the most valuable gift I received from a friend wasn't a physical item. It was a motto to live by. This Carvel will always hold a special place in my heart. Since my 2nd birthday, it has been a tradition for my mom to get me an ice cream cake from Carvel to celebrate my birthday since it is right around the corner from my house! I remember how I used to only eat the top vanilla portion of the cake and throw out the chocolate (kids will be kids...) but now I devour the entire slice of cake like an animal because it's so good! The middle layer of crunchies with fudge is to die for. Whenever you buy a cake, they also give you a small container full of the crunchies that I loove! I sprinkle that stuff on all my desserts because it elevates my dessert to an entirely different level! Delicious!! They also have specially designed ice cream cakes as well that look very visually appealing for little kids. I remember getting a spongebob cake for my 11th birthday that I loved! I also occasionally stop by whenever I have cravings for ice cream. Every staff member that works here is SUPER nice! Even though I am notorious for being excessively indecisive, the server had no problem with letting me sample some of the flavors until I could make up my mind on which one I want. I must've tried at least 6 flavors before finally being able to decide lol...but she did not give me an attitude at all! Sometimes I really worry that this store will close because it always seems empty every time I pass by (which is like everyday). This Carvel has the most wide variety ice cream cakes compared to the other Carvels that I have been to so far. I recal buying a cake with a puppy face on it. It was so real that I could hardly tell it was fake. Talk about cake designing skills. This Carel has certainly hired some talented employees. I love this carvel. The husband and wife who own it are complete sweet hearts and the staff they have working there are beyond friendly and, exceptionally welcoming. They always ask if you would like to try any flavors and there just so nice! There selection of ice cream is pretty extensive and so is there selection of cakes they even make custom cakes to order. The ice cream is always fresh and heavenly and of course the best day to go is Wednesday because its buy one get one sundae free, WHO DOESN'T LOVE A FREE SUNDAE. They are very efficient and service is very fast. The only negative part about this Carvel is that parking is a complete and total nightmare and the Carvel store knows this so in turn they offer free delivery to your car that will most likely be illegally double parked in front with hazard lights on(BUT THAT IS OKAY BECAUSE IT WILL BE WORTH IT!) They also have the iPad program that when you enter the store you can enter your phone number into a i-pad and the i-pad stores your purchase which you are able to accumulate points in order to get free treats, such as a flying saucer packages and more! My suggestions here include the vanilla soft serve with chocolate/rainbow sprinkles and the coffee cream or cherry vanilla ice cream. They are out of this world. If you love cherry get the cherry vanilla ice cream with the black cherry topping it will knock your ice cream taste buds off!! The coffee cream ice cream is like eating a piece of coffee heaven creamy and packed with coffee goodness. I love ice creams and when I'm sad or when I'm too happy or when its rains or when it's too hot or when I've burnt 500 calories I go here to get ice cream. Basically I make up reasons to eat ice cream. They are generous with their portions and you pay like $6 for 2 scoops on a waffle cone (prices may have changed). I always get two scoops and always get one scoop of chocolate hazelnut and the other scoop I experiment with. They even have soft serve ice cream and ice cream cake. read more

This place is one of the few places that uses real milk when making their ice cream cakes! I know this because my brother used to work there and the difference is noticeable (especially compared with the one on Coney Island Ave near Ave Y i think..) The only problem is that it is a little more expensive.. i.e. a cake that serves 6-8 people was like 21.99 or like 25.99 and at the other location it was 12.99 for what looked like the same size square or even a little bigger. I enjoy the way this location makes it's crunch! I love the way the fudge and crunchies mix. I'm not really a fan of cookies in my ice cream so I like the feel of the one they make here. Sometimes when I try other ones, including Baskin Robbins, that don't live up to this, it hurts my soul.. I've been coming here for the their mini cakes for my bf and his parents who are health conscious so it's the perfect size. At 8.99 it was a tad expensive, but so cute and perfect for what I needed! However, this past superbowl weekend I went in to get a mini cake (not superbowl related at all) and they raised it to 9.99! The cake has the circumference of a silver dollar pancake give or take so it's $2.50 for each "slice" which is equivalent to less than a scoop of ice cream.. Probably won't be back anytime soon for this little cake.. it's not worth it anymore :( read more

I love Carvel and frequently get an ice cream cone here. . However, this particular store is more expensive than others. They charge much more than other local Carvel franchises for the same cone and sometimes a smaller portion. Today I had to pay significantly more and was told it was because of the sugar cone (total was $4.62 for a Junior cone, over60 cents more than other stores whereas at other local Carvel stores I did not have to pay extra for a sugar cone Or certainly not as much( $4 max and sometimes less for the same or larger scoops). I used to love to get my shakes from Carvel. Now I no longer will. The shake machines come with metal cups for a reason. Now they put the ice cream directly into a plastic cup and mix it in there. So the mechanism that breaks up the ice cream runs against the sides of the cup breaking pieces of plastic into the shake. It is pure laziness on their part. This is an awesome place, getting done with the new renovations made my decision to check out the new and improved Carvel and man was I surprised, they offered a nice variety of flavors in ice cream, of course Mint Chocolate Chip would be my favorite, but they had their specialty cakes, and brews. The Staff was very friendly, and patient, we had to choose what we wanted of course, but there was a lot of patience, while we choose our flavors we swirled around be you can't really walk around it's not such a big place, but it's generous in space. The cool little aquarium really looks neat and it's an all time fun just stopping by and getting some nice variety of ice cream. Overall I think this place gets an A in terms of service, quality and how awesome my mint chocolate chip tasted.
