The car arrived shortly after the delivery agent called to say he was on his way. It was clean inside and out.

Details and photos truthfully represented the vehicle and its specs. The entire process went very smoothly, with only CV needing to contact me about a document I failed to upload. The all-online process not only gives you a large (sortable) stable of vehicles to examine, but the process itself evokes memories of the Sears Christmas Wishbook. It did feel weird that there was no one to haggle with. Weird in a relieving way. I ordered it online on Friday, it arrived in a cleaned and near -new condition. The entire process was easy, and the team members made it an enjoyable way to buy a car. We'll be back for our next one soon.

That statement was false and misleading. When I went to sell the car, I discovered that the DMV had recorded an accident on the vehicle a full year before I bought it. This misrepresentation cost me a $3,000 in lost value, verified by an auto broker who showed me recent comparable sales of nearly identical vehicles. When I raised this issue with CarMax, they refused to accept any responsibility or compensate me for any of the loss in value. CarMax heavily markets "peace of mind" and "transparency," but my experience shows those claims are hollow. If their employees can misrepresent a car's history and the company refuses to make it right, then buyers cannot trust the accuracy of anything they're told. Furthermore, do not rely on the CarMax vehicle inspection to uncover previous damage that would have been discoverable by a competent mechanic. Be certain to complete an independent pre-purchase inspection using a competent mechanic. CarMax misrepresented the vehicle I purchased, and their refusal to stand behind their word shows a lack of integrity. Buyers beware--you could be left with a car worth thousands less than you were led to believe.

On March 31, 2026, Barbee's Freeway Ford of Denver sold me an $80K truck with no title and no…read moredisclosure of that fact. The VISOR VIN app declared that the truck had been for sale for a full 30 days when I purchased it, but I guess BFF never intended to title the truck in their name. On April 13th, when I attempted to register the truck in my state of Arizona, I was told I must have a paper title from BFF. I contacted salesman Shawn Tuggle, and his text response was simply that "...it takes time to get a title." That is not true when you legally own the vehicle you are selling, because you already hold the title. A BFF title clerk called, and she told me it could take weeks to get the title, and if my CO temp tags expired on May 29th, they could be extended. Later that day, Shawn texted that I would receive a call from "Joe the sales manager". Neither Joe nor any other BFF representative (other than the title clerk) ever called with explanation, update, or apology. CO Revised Statute 42-6-112 requires that a dealership deliver a title to the customer within 30 days. At 30 days, the title still wasn't delivered, and I filed a criminal report with the CO Department of Revenue. By May 14th, BFF still had not delivered a title and were in violation of the law, and my CO temporary tags were fast approaching the May 29th expiration. A criminal investigator with the CO DOR informed me that temporary tags cannot be extended for out-of-state sales, contrary to the lie that the BFF title clerk told. That would leave me with no legal vehicle to operate. Salesman Shawn Tuggle sold me the truck knowing that I was purchasing it from Arizona with the intent of immediately travelling the country full-time with a travel trailer, yet at no point did he or any other representative of BFF disclose that the truck had title issues and that these issues would become mine. As a result, the cross-try RV travel that I purchased the truck for would be foolish to commence. Escalating the situation didn't help. My emails to Director of Operations Brent Danner on April 14 and May 14 were ignored, as were May 14th emails to sales and financing managers Doug Lawrence, Ron Garretsen, and Joe Bejarano. Apparently, avoiding difficult topics gets one promoted at BFF. It was not until May 20th, fifty-two days post sale, that BFF delivered a title that should have been delivered at the time of sale. The stress and limitations that FF had caused were very real. I regret buying from Barbee's Freeway Ford of Denver, but I'm sure they have no regrets. They have the eighty thousand, four hundred six dollars and seventy cents that I paid in cash. Mr. Tuggle has his commission, and management was comfortable ignoring me and the hardship they caused. Why not, it takes time to get the title, right Shawn? The CO DOR informed me that BFF would be receiving a warning letter.

Before I jump into my disappointment, I want to give kudos to Alexis, who was super professional…read moreand very transparent about the process and what to expect. She was the best part of this experience. I have an older car (2000 w/ 147k miles) that has mechanical issues that aren't worth the cost of fixing, which is why I'm selling it. it's also not cosmetically the best and honestly, its value is in the parts. I had originally considered selling this vehicle earlier this year and got an initial offer that was around $600, then got an increased offer for $800 within a couple of days. I decided not to sell it at that time, so I was surprised when I redid my estimate a couple months later, the offer came back at $800 again. After reading all of these amazing reviews, I felt like I could trust this place and get a decent price for my car. Because of the mechanical problems, I went in expecting that the offer might come down a little bit, but not more than a couple hundred bucks. After Alexis did her complete inspection, she walked me through what she found and showed me a screen where they were estimating that about $7500 would need to be put in to refurbish this vehicle. And then offered me $100 for it. There is no way this vehicle is worth refurbishing, so it felt like a clear bait and switch so they could make a profit on selling it for parts. When I said I would accept no less than $600, they upped the offer to $300 so I thanked Alexis for her time and left. I don't think anybody should realistically expect to get an offer almost 90% lower, even though the platform doesn't allow you to put in enough detail to get a realistic offer to begin with. I would've much rather preferred to have a low estimate and walked in and got a better offer. I sold my car to a competitor and got the price I was looking for. *Adding to this review following the below response from the owner. The intake form on the website does not allow for much detail in disclosing things that are wrong with the vehicle that would impact the overall valuation. Additionally, the mechanical issues were disclosed to Stuart on the phone when confirming the appointment and he did confirm that the inspection could change the overall offer, which again, I was expecting. The website does not make clear that they are really only looking for vehicles that have a resale value. Even so, I have to reiterate that they would not buy my car for $100, put $7500 into it, only to be able to sell it for roughly $2500 (top value on KBB if they did all the work they claim they would do). That would be a ridiculously stupid business decision. They essentially offered me a disposal fee. Most people that are looking to sell their vehicles through a service like this are looking to sell because the resale value is low. But thanks for gaslighting me, Kevin!

Edit: The situation…read morewas taken care of and warrantied out in a timely manner. I have the displeasure of writing this review after trying to get my issue resolved with multiple people. My family and I had been going to Elder Auto for at least a decade before they sold to Big Brand, which is where a majority of the good reviews came from. We stopped going when we noticed things going down hill, as they usually do when corporate gets involved. The last time I took my car in, I got my front brakes done. The first thing I noticed was that my brakes were squeaky immediately after being changed. I don't put very many miles on my car because I typically live close to where I work. This service was done back in October of 2023. Normally, I would never complain about something from that long ago but I had some unfortunate news today. Upon inspection from another mechanic at South Birch Automotive (they're great), I discovered the brakes were installed with, "the wrong size rotor, the shims on the brake pads were improperly installed, and brake lines were twisted up." I don't know much about cars and trusted the mechanics at Big Brand when they assuaged my initial concerns with their work. It was explained to me that the way these were installed put me in great danger for the last 2.5 years they were installed. Great. BECAUSE of the damage and extra work created by Big Brand, I will have to pay to get everything installed like-new which will be much more expensive than just replacing pads (which weren't worn at all due to the brakes being installed wrong). I called this morning to inform Big Brand of their mistake and they told me they would see what they can do to resolve the issue and call me back. I waited for 2 hours and still hadn't received a call (my car is still at South Birch Automotive) so I decided to call them back and see what the resolution can be. I requested a refund or for them to pay for the repairs for the damage they did to the vehicle. Their response? That it had been 2.5 years and the mechanic that messed it up no longer works there. Awesome! I'm not a car-person and didn't know I had to personally inspect the job they did after what was supposed to be a safe and correctly done. Also, I'm sorry but you're a corporation, and you're culpable for the damage done by your employees. Not to mention that my life was in danger that whole time. My request was denied and I was told that I would have to bring my car to them so they can inspect it themselves. I explained I don't feel super comfortable bringing my car back to the same place that caused such a major issue. After pressing it they told me that was the only option. So now I did not get the repair I needed today and will have to not have my car do another entire day or more. This place used to be great. I expected better. Think twice before taking your car to a place that just sees you as a number in their system. I will keep this update posted when I am able to achieve a satisfactory resumption but unfortunately I can not get my time back.

I'm putting Pentagon Federal Credit Union, Autopay and Hyundai on blast…read more... This credit union was ok until it wasn't. I obtained a Hyundai Tucson in 2018 and did a refinance through Autopay in 2020 who connected me with PFCU. All was good until the vehicle had some mechanical issues and neither did the Autopay gap insurance or warranty with PFCU cover anything. This happened twice and I had to take out two repair loans to fix the issues; of which I am still paying off. Hyundai cars from year 2014 - 2017 have had various recalls and major mechanical issues reported for the last few years. Hyundai dealership was not helpful either. As of February 2023 the vehicle malfunctioned again, and definitely could not afford another repair loan. Thus I contacted PFCU to ask for a voluntary Repo and they stated to try and sell it myself first because that's their company policy. I took 2 weeks and tried to get a buyer and no one was interested. During that time, I asked for a deferment of payment and PFCU granted that request for one month. I had to obtain another car which is $400 more than what I was paying for the old one. Thus I called PFCU and spoke again to the collections dept to update them about the situation and advise that I can no longer pay for a vehicle that has a transmission issue and is too dangerous to drive when it is shaking with a loud ticking noise. The voluntary repo paperwork was signed electronically and put in process. They even discontinued the credit card that I had through them, of which both were in good standing before all this transpired. I have spoken to 2-3 reps between Feb and now June who stated that the voluntary repo was in process and every conversation was notated of what i said, and today 6/7/23 I spoke to yet another rep who said that she only saw the call from February. She said that the company will not come get the vehicle if it doesnt work and that the car note is over due 67 days. I told her thats a lie, because the previous reps told me that someone would call me to get the car towed so PFCU will try to sell it as is for what is owed on it. Thus the Tucson has been sitting at my apartment complex since February. I transferred the insurance from the old vehicle to the new one; and PFCU sent a letter stating that they applied insurance to it and that amount would be added to the remaining balance. This is the worst experience I have had with any bank / credit union about a car. If anyone reads this, I highly advise that you do not do any business with them.

Autopay has a very deceptive business practice. Over the past three years, they checked my credit…read morescore multiple times after showing me what appeared to be attractive refinance offers, with rates between 4.0% and 5.2%. Since my current Subaru loan is 6.59%, those offers looked better and encouraged me to apply. However, once they checked my credit, they did not honor those original offers. Instead, they came back with much higher rates, between 6.5% and 8.99%. This happened more than once. What made the situation even more misleading is that they used three different names, so each time I thought I was applying with a different company. That is how I ended up being tricked several times without realizing it was connected to the same business. This kind of practice is harmful to customers. It wastes people's time, affects their credit, and breaks trust with those who are honestly looking for refinancing options. Companies should be transparent and truthful, not lure people in with appealing quotes and then change the terms after checking their credit. Based on my experience, I do not recommend Autopay. Please be careful and do your research before applying, so you do not go through the same frustration I did.
