I bought a vehicle from A1 a number of years ago. Recently, I got a flat tire. When I went to change my flat the spare did not fit. I resolved the situation myself. When I called to tell the owner of A1 what had happened he was condescending and could not understand why I would call him or what in the world he could do about it. Just to clarify, I was not demanding anything. The one star has everything to do with the way I was talked too. BUYER BEWARE! Wishing I had never seen that Craigslist ad. My husband and drove five hours to Denver to purchase our first Family car; I'm 7 months pregnant. We have never financed a car before, always paid cash, but we decided to get something newer so that it would be reliable for the new baby coming. We purchased a vehicle from David at A-1 Auto Sales and drove it home that day. He graciously provided a 3 month catastrophic warranty that took some of the guilt of the price off my mind. An hour into the drive the front axel had a wobble so bad that we had to pull over. It happened again and again all the way home and extended a five hour drive into a ten hour drive. All the way home I'm hoping the warranty will cover the repairs. I call David the next day and he's says it's a $50 fix and that he would do it if we were still in Denver, it's not covered by the limited warranty. We take it to the mechanic and he says it's a bunch of things due to wear and tear. Ticket price $1100. I call David and he says "he'll pay $400 and then we walk away". We have the repairs done. The same day I pick the vehicle up from the shop the check engine light goes on. The vehicle needs a new transmission. I'm not worried about it though because I know the limited warranty will cover it. I call in the claim and am informed that David has cancelled the policy in lieu of the $400 he sent us. I call David and he says that he told me this on the phone. If this is true, it was in used-car-man-speak because I never heard it. Now I have no vehicle to drive and I've got two months to figure out how to pay for a new transmission before I have a new baby who needs a car seat in the back. $18,000.00 spent and within one week the repair costs are already over $3,000. I'm trying to keep my chin up about the whole deal, but honestly I'm pretty sad. This was by far the worst customer sales experience I have ever had. This is the first time I have ever written a review, I am only writing this because I could not believe how terrible this place treated me and I hope to save any potential future customers from going through a similar experience. The owner is one of the the most sexist, rude, and disrespectful men I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. I spent hours looking online, I know exactly what I am looking for and not many dealerships carry this specific vehicle (a diesel Liberty). I was exited to find the car listed at A-1. I am currently in a rental car and have already been pre-approved through my credit union, all I needed to do was find my car! As soon as I saw the pictures online I called my bank and picked up the paper work on the way, and I called my mechanic to meet me there. I was greeted by an older gentleman, and he asked me if I had been looking at a lot of cars. I told him I had. I looked over the vehicle and took pictures and was very pleased with the condition. I asked if he would mind if we took is for a drive. His response was that in fact did mind. He looked me up and down and said I was not going to buy the car. He said I was looking at too many cars, and he thought I was simply window shopping fun looking cars with no intent to purchase. He said he didn't let customers drive the vehicles unless they have already decided to buy it and that is the very last step after paperwork and everything else. I said "so you expect people to buy vehicles from you without ever driving them??" He said very plainly "Yes." He then actually turned his back and walked away from me. I am a 28 yr old blonde female who looks much younger than I am. He took one look at me and decided I was not a serious buyer. I had everything lined up to buy, AND MY MECHANIC on the way. This had been my favorite vehicle I had found and I am seriously disappointed that I have to pass up this car. He said several other very rude remarks as he walked away, and I could not believe what I was hearing and the things that came out of this mans mouth. His insinuated that I was a young female, and therefor would be an unlikely candidate as a serious buyer purchasing a diesel (my last vehicle was a diesel and when I told him this, he actually chuckled at me like I was lying). I was talked down to and it was an incredibly degrading experience that ended with me leaving in tears. I dont cry. If you want to support a sexist, dishonest and sleezy dealership.... by all means go here. If you want a place that is honest and will treat you well.. do your self a real favor and pass this place up. read more

I bought a car from this family and at first it was great but then a couple months after having it my check engine light came on and they told me, "don't worry, we will take care of it" so I believed them. Once I got my car looked at they said it was an engine issue and fixed it (under my warranty!!) So they didn't have to pay a dime. Then they found that I have a carbon build up in my fuel systems. I told a1 and they refused to pay for it!!!!! They promised me an all point inspection and also they had it covered. I do not recommend anyone going their because they will sell you faulty cars and you'll have issues!!! They do not do good business!! My family and I bought two cars from them so that's the least they could've done for us!! DO NOT GO THERE!!!!! On top of that, my husband and I got everything they asked for and then we were waiting for my warranty check from my other car and Julie would harass my husband and I and call us non stop to get the check when it was the banks deal and not us!!!! And our new car is not a cheap car. It was 17k! And I also haven't even had my first oil change yet on top of it!!!!!! I would give them 0 stars if I could!!!! read more

I try not to write bad reviews, I try to give alit of places the benefit of the doubt. That being said, this place is not worth your time, and don't worry about it being worth your money, because they tell you UPFRONT your business isn't appreciated. We had been looking for a car for my brother who lives in Rangely, CO, and the winters are a little rough in his college town. So naturally, 4x4 was our choice. Beautiful jeep in this lot, great price, nice condition. We go inside(my brother, myself and my father) and find Dave on the phone, an older man. After waiting for a few minutes, he finally acknowledges us, and tell whoever is on the phone "I'll call you back in 10 minutes, I have to get some people out" my father claimed this man was humorous, so I took it as a joke. We asked to further look at this jeep, and asked about a test drive. He replies "do you have money to buy this car?" Before I could reply he tells me " my cars are alot of money. You want a car off my lot you need money"( I'm 21 however I look 16) I told him " haha, well, we are here to buy, and are ready to talk a deal. However, we would like to see the car" He tells me " I cant have you get in one of my cars off my lot, and claiming to be hurt to try and sue me" Excuse me? What is that supposed to mean? He proceeds to tell my father " I doubt you have enough money for one of my cars, and your children are too young to have any kind of credit so I won't even consider them" I couldn't take that as a joke and interrupted him to say that I have a good credit score, and just recently bought my own car, And that we have money down for this car. "I dont think you do" was his reply." But whos the car for anyway?" We mention for my brother, and that my father will purchase it, under his name. He asks us who will drive it, and I reply that the test driver will be myself, as I am the one with stick shift experience, and will teach my brother. He then tells me " why are you going to drive it if it's not for you? I want the buyer to drive it. I need your license" he says pointing to my father." Do you even HAVE a VALID Colorado drivers license?" Once again, what is the reason for that remark? He then asks one more time, who will test drive, and to show him their ID. I tell him once more more, myself, and present him my ID. He doesn't even look at it, and tells me " you're not the buyer so you will not drive it, ever. Do yiu even understand what language I'm speaking? I lost it. I told him that our business is clearly not appreciated here and told him to **** off, we will not be offended and racially stereotyped. I opened the door and let us out. That would have been it right? WRONG. He proceeds to come out of his office, and tell me I can go **** myself, that he owns a high end business for people with money, and that if he ever sees me there again he will kill me. YES, no exaggeration, he said, I quote" You young ****er, can get the **** off my property, and come here again I will beat your ***** ass to the ground. Do you even know how many punk ass ******* like you I've beaten to a pulp? **** out my place!" You wanna do business? Never ever stereotype your customers. We had $7000 ready for down. Half the car. But he didnt take the time to ask us about that. He filed us as poor, and added salt to the wound. I might get told I exaggerated, or that I am a liar. But I'm not the only one who has said this about this place. That man is a true racist, sexist, and unreal businessman. I don't know how he has a business, or better yet, not in jail. I would give this place 5 stars, but I am going with 4 so people believe me and read my review not thinking it's fake. This place is great. The service is quick, honest, and friendly with real people doing it the proper old school way. I have bought 2 cars from them in the past 6 months, and both experiences left me in a better spot than I was in before I went there. I have a Nissan Versa and a Jeep Liberty from A-1 now, so that's both of our cars in our household, and both have proven to have been wisely purchased from A-1 initially on their end (they were both in top quality shape and condition like they were expected to be) meaning my brakes, shocks, tires, engine, and all other tenured pieces of auto equipment are Firestone Inspection Certified. All of their vehicles are certified by Firestone's Inspection process. The cars they purchase are done so strategically so they get the best quality and scenario that you could ask for as the buyer on the other end. We got print-outs of the cars' histories before we committed to buying them, and they will tell you straight-up why they chose to re-sell the car you're interested in, why it's set at the price it is, and they even told me on both occasions what problems those models and years typically have so I know what to look out for in the future as miles rack up. I felt very happy talking to the dealer and was treated exceptionally well where the dealer answered all my questions to my satisfaction. I found the deal was very good and uncomparable. It was a value for money deal and I really liked the test drive of the car. All these factors led me to decide that I would definitely go for the CAR and now I am the proud owner of a very good used (1 owner) car. My boyfriend and I walked onto the lot and were looking at a truck we liked. Julie came out and told us all the doors for all the cars were unlocked and to feel free to look around and inside all the cars. She then said to let her know if we needed anything, and then she left us alone. It was very refreshing! I hate sales people that hover. We noted the car and then went to other dealerships to see what else we could find. There wasn't a lot of trucks in our price range and we actually had a salesman from a different dealership recommend A-1 to us when he didn't have anything we wanted. He said they were nice people and had a good selection that might have something we want. After looking a while we came back to A-1 with the intent to test drive the truck. This time we were met by Dave. He asked us some questions, like what are plans for financing were and what we were looking for. They seemed like standard preliminary questions to see if we were serious. He was very polite and I was not offended at all. We test drove the truck and absolutely loved it! When we got back Dave was very helpful going through everything we needed and how the process would work and then he started the process of getting us a loan. Our situation was a little complicated so he did pass us off to Julie to finish the loan application. Julie was incredibly knowledgeable and very helpful. Both Julie and Dave were very helpful and very nice. We had a great experience and got an awesome truck. I would definitely recommend A-1 to any person looking to buy a nice used car. read more

TREATED EXCEPTIONALLY WELL - NEVER HAD A USED CAR SALESMAN INVEST AN HOUR WITH US SITTING DOWN IN HIS OFFICE GIVING US INSIGHT ON HOW WE CAN FIX UP OUR OLD CAR TO RESTORE IT SO WE CAN PERSONALLY SELL IT AND MAKE MONEY OURSELVES. Usually if you arent buying a car they look past you and dont give you the time of day. They gave us tips on what products to use on paint, inside, leather, and insight into self serve shampoo services in the area vs paying $50 at a detail place, and gave us information on how to personally build our credit after unfortunate situations which was invaluable! His wife was amazing as well, offered us coffee, sat and talked with us, wrote information down for us, and I liked how they looked us in the eyes, and they were not in any hurry. Because of the way we were treated we will definately come back and have since recommended them to some friends because of their people/customer skills, genuinuity, reasonable prices with used cars at decent miles vs other lots with lemons and cars that are not clean. Thanks again for your kindess and tips and I hope this review helps your business. DO NOT GO HERE !!! IT"S A RIP OFF AND THEY ARE UNFAIR TO SENIORS I am a senior and I went to Dave and Julie because I thought them to be fair. I traded a manual shift car for an automatic one due to bad arthritis in my hips I couldn't drive it anymore.. I got almost home and the brakes slipped. I called them and they came out and got the car and fixed the brakes. They were nice about it. Then a few days later It started over heating, I took it to Dave he checked it and said it was most likely needed thermostat, so I took it to Firestone and they found out it needed new head gaskets. Well I told him I wanted my other car back and he said I couldn't because it was, as is sale. They saw me coming He got very rude enough to make me cry. Then I got a warning ticket for no tail lights. I took it back to Dave to fix. Well he fidgeted with it for a minute and then said it was fixed. I looked and the lights were OK.. I left thinking hopefully the last time. Well was driving and the car driver next to me says Your taillights aren't working. Now I have to take the car to the dealer and get it looked at 90.00 later and found that the 1000 dollar extended warranty didn't cover it and now they want a fortune to fix it. I think Tom Martino needs to investigate them. read more
