My Wife and I hadn't been back to Caruso's for a while. We decided to try it again. Our server was top notch, he answered all of our questions and made sure we were taken care of. In my opinion, the food was just Ok. I ordered the ravioli with Alfredo and pesto. My Wife had the penne pasta with meat sauce and a meatball. Both were eh, nothing that said omg we have to come back. Again our Server was fantastic, I just think for $30 a person there are other choices here in town where the ambience, the food, and the overall experience is just a little bit better.

We've been here 3-4 times over the last few years and it's always alright. The restaurant is very well themed with a restored neon sign lighting up 4th Ave. They only have 1 appetizer option and still offer bread with your meal. Food can take a while here and during our visit in August the place was very warm which made the wait rough. After a few visits, we can confidently say that anything that is over baked will be better than something just placed on a plate. The chicken parmesan was a disappointment because it was just a plain chicken breast with no seasoning or coating.

What can I say about locally owned amazing restaurant! I literally grew up going here, and before me was my grandparents and parents! It's been a family favorite my whole life!! Now that I do not live in Tucson it's one of the places I go to every time I'm in town! The ambiance is great nice dim lighting makes for a little romance, of your with a bigger party the back room is lit up more! And let's not forget their back patio! It's lovely. When you walk in your greeted by amazing people they are always so happy! No matter how busy they are, and let me tell you they get PACKED LONG WAITS ON THE WEEKENDS! But so worth the wait! The pizzas are amazing they are huge. They're antipasto one of my favorites for sure a must, the spaghetti and lasagna, those are all my favorites for sure but everything on the menu is great. I would definitely recommend Carusos for anyone who loves Italian food!

So I've been a little bit of a snob about the food here. I hadn't had it in years, because of a couple of just ok experiences from a long time ago. A friend of mine told me the food inspector Pima county said it was cleanest kitchen ever. You get a lot of food it's really tasty. I tried the carbonara and it was excellent and I took some home. The lasagna was amazing and the salad was really nice. I'm gonna keep coming back because the food is really good and it's a little bit of old Tucson, with all the changes downtown and on 4th Avenue, of the corporate people moving in and building all these high rises it's nice to have a little old school. I'm gonna keep coming back!

An awesome Tucson original! Located in a very cool and eclectic part of downtown so be warned-parking is a little challenge but you'll have a great time enjoying all the little shops and storefronts if you have to park a bit away. It is well worth the walk and after their delicious authentic Italian dishes you may appreciate that walk back to your vehicle. I've been several times but today I had a new dish and was well pleased. I had the linguini with clams in white mushroom sauce and it was incredible. My friend who had never been had the Caruso special which includes 3 sample dishes and was well impressed. Serving time was average but our server was very friendly and attentive. I can't wait to go back!

Celebrating my son birthday and he picked Carusos Italian Restaurant on 434 North 4th Avenue in Tuscon. 520-624-5765. Caruso's is a very cute restaurant makes you feel at home. Our waitress Brianna, was so nice , it was my first time ordering a pizza and she was very helpful with our choices in pizza toppings and suggested certain items. She was on top of things that we making sure we had everything we needed, from refills to bread. Wonderful hospitality

Iconic Tucson restaurant on Fourth Ave. , it's a Tucson institution. Cute interior and outdoor patio. The service was friendly and attentive, but the food needed a lot of help. I ordered the stuffed shells and eggplant parmesan, but got stuffed shells with chicken parmesan. The antipasto salad was bland and a bit boring, the sauce had a strange flavor, but the shells and chicken were cooked well. The gelato was pretty much frozen iced cream, and I wish I hadn't even bothered with that at all. I've been twice now, and I'm not in a hurry to make a trip back.

Our group met here for dinner on a weeknight. We'd made reservations and got in right on time. Our table was set up in one of the front rooms and wasn't noisy at all. They didn't have many options for gluten free or low carb, so that was a drawback. I chose the chicken and eggplant parmesan combo with garlic sauce instead of marinara and a house salad. My husband opted for the chicken parmesan, which was another one of the few low carb options. If you are able to eat pasta and pizza, there are many yummy sounding entrees available. Most everyone liked what they'd ordered. I thought the flavor of mine was outstanding; my husband was less wowed with his. The house salad was a unique combination of items and was enjoyable, but not sure it was worth the extra $8. Service was very friendly, although it took quite awhile for our food to arrive at the table. Our server kept our water glasses filled and brought us more garlic bread while we waited for our food. Our entrees, with no sides, were about $25 each which seems on the expensive side.

I was waiting for my friend and figured I'd have to wait at the front. But no, the hostess seated me immediately. While waiting for my friend, Alex (Alejandro) came to the table and, with a smile, asked me for my drink order. He brought two glasses of water and then checked on me a few times while I waited for my (late) friend. He keyed in the password for the free wifi on my phone. When my friend showed up, we decided what we wanted to order and as soon as we set the menus down, Alex was there to take our orders. I told him that we would be there awhile as friend and I had some catching up to do. While waiting for our food, he stopped by to tell us that our food was just about ready. The runner brought the food. Alex stopped by with more water for us several times. He left us alone until we signaled we were ready for our tab. The place was busy but he never bothered us or made us feel like we should leave. The salads were quite good. My large portion of salmon was perfectly cooked as were the shrimp on friend's salad. We ordered the focaccia bread and it was warm, tender and was served with olive oil. All in all a great experience. A lot of that had to do with Alex. I'll go back, hoping that he's still there.

We ordered mocktails, as she's 17 and I rarely drink, and they were truly refreshing and delicious. Our server, I've forgotten his name, was tall, friendly and patient when I requested to stagger service, as it was a Sunday evening at 1630. The bread and oil was ok, calamari app was good, mostly tentacles and felt as if a third of the plate was just breading afterwards because we got the bottom of the bag from the freezer. For entrees, my daughter had the ragu bolognese and it was 4 minutes away from being al dente, the pasta was uncooked and tough. I wanted to send it back but my daughter said she would "just eat it". I usually get pasta or branzino, but this time I opted for the roasted chicken and it was the most insipid dish I have ever tasted. The chicken was boiled or sous vide and then given char marks on a grill, not roasted, not herbed, just charred. The au jus an overly salted corn starch thickened glaze. The broccolini and polenta on side were good and that's what I ate. The chef needs to fix this item or take it off the menu expeditiously. During dining service we felt bad for the several servers who were dealing with 2 screaming kids running through the dining room and out onto the patio. Several times bumping into servers with trays, the parents, cocktail in hand, barely did anything to attempt to stop them. As a restaurant, if something happened to those children, tray with piping hot pasta, it would be your responsibility, so next time kindly ask them to leave. It was loud and wrong and not the fault of your servers. All in all, I will have to take Locale off my list of restaurants to recommend for Italian food in Tucson, it was always the first place I recommend.

Some in our group had the Penne Pesto Pasta with chicken and my wife and I shared the Penne Arrabbiate with meatballs, and both were fantastic, and the server automatically split the dishes for us. The dessert, Lemon Posset, I still remember from last time and have longed to try it again, and it was a hit. Busy on a Weds 330PM shortly after doors open, after 2 days off, but understand it fills up even own the patio and after tasting you'll know why :) Fine dusted parm topped a zesty house dressed $13 Caesar that was pre-split for sharing. House croutons need more of a blast in that wooded oven to crisp up as they were limp and doughy but still polished off the greens. 4/5* Love me some Mortadella and hard to find on menus even in an Italian Grinder here, so my focus lasered in on Tony Balona $18 with Burrata, smoked mozz (didn't taste any smoke) and pistachio dust (very minimal at center, wah), thick swirls of pistachio pesto and switched red sauce for garlic oil, a thin simple sauce. Pistachio not really noticeable in pesto or dust, I really enjoyed my pie, though its not as complex tasting as you might believe. Had an herbal syrup less bitter front than a typical in your face Campari sip. Service was efficient. Water carafe to table on seating. Sure hope they save the water left over given the constant desert shortage, as we only drank 1/3 due to our ABV glasses. Even though the restaurant was open for business they did not answer the phone! Warning! I finally had my call answered in the evening and made our reservation and informed them that we were interested in the 'Cheese Wheel Linguine' as you are required. We were then informed while ordering that they would not be doing the 'wheel' due to 'callouts' that night. OK, so I tried to order (4) different bottles of Chardonnay and they were out of three of them. We started with an appetizer of 'calamari' and it came 'burnt' and like rubber. We also ordered their famous Caesar Salad and were never served. We then decided to order a pizza which was served to us cold, uncooked and doughy. The poor wait staff and cooks are not managed correctly and were well over whelmed with no help. I was informed that the restaurant has 'new ownership' as they were purchased by 'Flying Leap Vineyards' and have been recently having staffing issues, inventory issue's and the new owners have cut back on everything. They did credit us on our bill for the cold uncooked pizza and the burnt calamari that was not edible. Our waiter felt so bad but, as we told him it was not his fault we were leaving without eating dinner 90 minutes later. Flying Leap Vineyards needs to somehow overcome this type of quality and improve things in a hurry otherwise ' just shut the doors' and sell Wine!

The server stopped by the table relatively quickly and took our drink order. Drinks were delivered in a timely fashion, we ordered appetizers and the entrees. The server was also friendly and pleasant. The appetizers (meatballs and stuffed mushrooms) were brought to the table by a runner. We had no silverware, napkins, or plates, so we asked the runner for these things when they asked, "do you need anything?". The runner said they'd be right back, but it was about five minutes and no joy. The server stopped by when they noticed we were staring at the appetizers with no way to eat them and brought over the plates, silverware, and napkins. As we were finishing up the appetizers, the same runner brought our entrees. I had the eggplant parm and added a side of spinach, which was very good. My date ordered a pasta dish which was served luke warm at best. The flavors were good, but the pasta dish wasn't nearly as hot as the spaghetti that was served with my eggplant parm. The server never stopped by to check on us, so we ate it and was happy for our water as we didn't get an opportunity to order another round of drinks. To be fair, it started getting a little busier by this time, so maybe the server had other responsibilities. The space is enjoyable. The patio can be hit or miss if there happens to be rain, as there was when we were there, but we were perfectly dry out there. We did see the hostess try to seat another party at a table that was getting wet in the rain and they kindly asked for another table that wasn't so moist. The food was good. The portion sizes were decent and aside from the temperature of the pasta dish, presented well. It would have been nice to have been able to order another round of drinks, but the server stopped by to ask if we had a dessert after we had completed our entrees. We just asked for the bill, paid, and called it an evening. Overall it was a good experience not one I would seek out specifically to go to this particular restaurant again.
