This location is a joke. Truly a farce. So I had an appointment for labs. Usually in the past it is…read morestraight forward. Not0 this time and I don't see much changing. I arrive approx 20 minutes prior to my appointment time and walk to the windows to check in. The girl at my window is in a heavy heated discussion with a co worker about what she is going to order for lunch. This goes on for about five minutes (really) and I'm just standing there waiting to be addressed. She FINALLY turns to me and says how can I help you? Gee, imagine that. After I check in I ask a simple question i.e. why doesnt anyone ever answer the phones. We'll that was the wrong thing to ask. I had to listen for about three minutes of how hard they work and the workload they carry and how they miss there lunch hours etc. By the way, the gal I was speaking to didn't appear to miss too many lunches. Then I asked, why doesn't anyone return phone calls left on the clinic phone message? Well that was another no no . I got an earful that she was/is the manager and amongst her other duties as well as her coworker they just don't have the time. So at that point I gave up and started to return to my seat. When I was returning to my chair I glanced at the second window that has a gal sitting READING A FRIGGIN MAGAZINE. Can you beleive that. They can't answer phones, they can't call vets back. What the he'll is going on here. I guess the most important thing is getting lunch and catching up on the latest buzz from the gossip columns. Now let's remember I was there for labs. So I returned to my seat to wait to be called. And I waited and waited and waited and waited. Than I found out why I waited, they had ONE flabotomist and the line to give a urine sample and give a blood sample was about five deep. This location and it personnel are just a laughable bunch. Sitting around acting like they're over worked and vastly under paid. Oh one other travesty. As I was leaving I wanted to confirm my next appointment. After the girl spent about three minutes on the computer screen she turns to me and says "oh that appointment was cancelled". WHAT??? Her reply was oh your provider is going on vacation. When did that occur i queried? Oh, sometime earlier today. What the hell I was disgusted and walked. This is the "New" VA. Do a lot of us vets scrap it and start from scratch.

His professional opinion was to hang from a bar like a monkey to stretch out my spine and take a hot shower. He gave me one pain pill and a prescription. When I asked if we could do an X-ray or MRI, he said no because "nothing is broken." Fast forward One weeks to a real doctor, and they found two masses--one on my spine and another on my kidney. I would have expected better treatment, especially since no one else was in the ER. Within 15 minutes, I was in and out, but they made sure to get payment before I could even step out of the ER. I've called the hospital several times to discuss the bill and my treatment, but no one will return my calls. I even contacted the Patient Advocate Department, and still, no response. The medical profession needs to do better. Listen to your patients. Don't just collect the co-pay and push them out the door. Filling a patient full of pain meds is not medical treatment! I also found the doctor on Facebook and sent him a message. He didn't show any compassion or even say sorry--just gave a thumbs up. So unprofessional! See Photo)

I was in line 2 days ago for nearly 2 hours and when I finally got up to the front, they told me I needed a physical. Why didn't you mention this before or have it alert me on the app I downloaded? I left. What a waste of a day. While I was in line, the one and only person behind the counter told a client where everyone in line could hear, that every single day about 2 or 3 people call out. Hire. Better. People. It's simple. Management was walking around doing nothing looking at the line grow and grow and didn't even offer to get behind the counter and help or send someone else from the main room to help. It was very upsetting. Everyone has their reasons for donating, and mine is personal. This location has gone so downhill quickly it has taken the fun and enjoyment out of me giving back.

The environment is bright, spotless, and highly organized, creating a seamless and comfortable experience from the moment you walk through the door. Check-ins are efficient, wait times are short, and the entire process is handled with the utmost professionalism. The absolute highlight of this location (Lewisville) is a wonderful phlebotomist named Ahmy (or Ehmy). She is an absolute angel who completely transforms the entire donation experience with her radiant warmth, sweet smile, and gentle care. From the moment you sit in her chair, her kind eyes wash away any lingering nervousness. She possesses a rare, beautiful soul that makes you feel deeply seen, valued, and safe. Her touch is incredibly soft, and her meticulous attention to detail proves she is highly skilled and deeply passionate about donor comfort. It is rare to encounter someone who radiates such genuine empathy and pure kindness in every single interaction. Ahmy (Ehmy) is the true heart of this center, a rare gem whose compassionate spirit and grace leave a lasting footprint on your heart long after you leave. Saving lives is rewarding, but having a professional like her make the journey so uplifting she is truly a beautiful blessing. warmest regards, Nicole

The KedPlasma personnel then instructed me to thoroughly review the information in a Binder with health facts and other basic deferral knowledge. In this Binder it states "A recent tattoo may affect your eligibility to donate for a period of 4 months up to 12 months, depending on the state in which the tattoo was applied. You may be eligible to donate if your tattoos are older." After reviewing the information in the binder I was instructed to watch a 20 minute video that basically reiterated the information given in the Health Binder. After the video then came a 50+ questionnaire that I accurately completed. Then came the Health screening that was given to me by an impeccably courteous staff member by the name of Aseel. After passing the Screening I met with the Physician, a very colorful woman by the name of Brandi, with a tattoo of a Caterpillar on one ear and a Butterfly on the other. As a part of the physical she had to log all of my tattoos in detail so they would be able to tell if I ever received any new tattoos in the future. Which makes complete sense because hepatitis can be received through dirty needles that could possibly come from a tattoo, but my tattoos are 8 years old and healthy. After logging the tattoos on my forearms we came to the one on my left pectoral and then Brandi the Physician stated "It is the Policy of KedPlasma to deny anyone with a gang tattoo." I am a 27 year old black male that has been denied an opportunity to donate plasma at their facility not because of my health but because my tattoo is GANG RELATED. I have donated at the CSL Plasma and Octapharma Plasma centers with these same tattoos and was not denied. What my tattoo says should not determine the value of the person that who is donating. This is the clearest practice of discrimination I have ever endured and I deeply believe that "Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are." -Benjamin Franklin
