I got my calcium score at the Flower Mound location. I am a male. They classified me as a female in the detail data used to calculate a risk factor. Based on the data, I can use various calculators to see which percentile I fall under. The percentile they document is clearly for females of my age group. When I notified them of the mistake, the lady at the desk insisted the percentile and gender were correct and indicated it could not be changed. It looks like wilfull propagation of incorrect medical records. read more

They no longer have the real sweet lady that did the mammograms. Instead there's a new gal and she isn't friendly and at one point was so rude I couldn't believe it. Also, a radiologist no longer looks at the mammogram right away. Instead she let me know that my dr would get the results in 5 - 7 days. I've never had to wait on results at any place before including here, but I guess they've changed things over the last year. Update: I got my results and they said no change year over year. I find that hard to believe, considering I have a golf ball size lump there that definitely wasn't there the year before. I called and asked that they look at it again. They never called me back. I called today to see if a radiologist had looked at it yet. And no, a radiologist still hasn't looked at it but said a mammogram tech looked at it and maybe it's a cyst. So, I would say to absolutely never go here. You can not count on a radiologist looking at your scans. Now, next week I am going to get looked at somewhere else because it's now baseball size. North Star has prevented me from getting proper treatment for over a month now due to their slow results, lack of care, and not having a radiologist look over scans. read more

Office is nice. Mammogram left me with an uncomfortableness that makes me not want to return. The Mammographer was very chatty and kept rubbing her ungloved hands all over the machine in all the places I was going to come in contact with it. I had to ask her to clean it. She did, then switched out a panel that hadn't been cleaned while I was getting the scan. I had to ask about that and she just assured me it was clean. I went ahead with the scan because she just continued like she was in a hurry. I'm sure they are busy and I should have insisted it be cleaned. I have low confidence they are following disinfection protocols. I went directly home and showered with Hibiclens to disinfect anything I may have come in contact with. She let me know it would take a little longer to get results because they had to transfer my images from my old imaging provider. I got my results about two weeks later that stated they could not compare to past images because they didn't receive my images from last provider. I don't think they tried to get them. I can't in good conscience recommend this healthcare provider. read more

The technician forgot to do one of the x rays. I had to reschedule to come back. I was told there would be no charge, since it was on the original order and he simply missed it. But not only was there no apology, they went ahead and billed me for the x-ray. I tried to contact them, but couldn't get through, so I ended up paying for it, just to get them to stop hassling me with their robo-texts. This is not the way to treat people. read more

I had to bring my sweet well behaved 5 year old in for a few x rays. The very young tech running the machine clearly just didn't like children and was very gruff, abrupt, barking rude to my kid that was just following her directions and looking at me bewildered. I initially scheduled my appointment with the Denton location, and because I am dealing with a worker's comp claim, there were some understandable issues with acquiring proper documentation and approval from my insurance company. At first, it seemed that my scheduled date would not be available, then Sadee (from the Denton location) came into play. She personally corresponded with me directly to get the proper documentation, worked with my case manager, and was able to get me scheduled at the Dallas location all within an hour. In navigating the complex world of employer medical insurance claims, life can suddenly appear dreary and daunting. Sadee personally transformed a dark and stressful day into one of lightness and positivity, restoring my faith in the industry and the broader world itself. It is not an exaggeration to say Sadee's generosity and relentless determination to uphold herself to a code of positivity and community compassion has changed my life entirely. The afternoon before my MRI, I got a voice mail saying my test had to be cancelled because they had not heard back from my insurance yet. I called back, was placed on a long hold, explained I needed the test ASAP prior to an appt with a specialist and would be "self-pay" instead. They said they could not do that, their system couldn't do that; they could not re-schedule me. So I went elsewhere. However, they still managed to charge my credit card $1196 for a test that they cancelled on me. Now, I'll need to call them again about that tomorrow. I sure hope the quality of their imaging is better than the quality of their customer service experience, because it really stinks. I will not be back. read more

They need to get their scheduling figured out. Ridiculous that they ask you to arrive 15 minutes early if this this is how they are handling things. I had two very unprofessional experiences with North Star Diagnostics Imaging. I had an confirmed appointment at 9:50am. Got there & checked in on time. Was told it would be "just a few minutes." Waiting room had several people (3-5) waiting. They were called back. 2 people came in for 10:15 appointments. I checked with the front desk to make sure I had fully checked in and said I was still waiting for my 9:50am appointment. Was told I was fully checked in & it would be "just a few minutes." By 10:30, all patients were called back for their scans, except for me. I was alone in the waiting room. I was done. I said I was leaving after waiting 45 minutes for a mammogram. That afternoon, I made an appointment for another service provider, and called North Star to arrange for my records to be released (I had used North Star in the past with no issue.). Iwas told I could come in Tuesday morning & sign the release form. I said I'd be there at 8am, when they opened. Tuesday, I arrived a few minutes after 8am. The first front desk person tried to find the correct form on her computer for several minutes, then asked me to wait. She could only find the form for records TO BE SENT TO North Star. 15 minutes later, I was told the only the other front desk person knew where the correct form was, & they would be in at 8:30. At 8:30, I was given the form to SEND records to NORTH STAR, not for North Star to send my records to my new provider. This was the same form they had at 8am. I was told this was not the form that the front desk had at 8am---this was untrue. I was then told that North Star could legally take up to 30 DAYS to provide me with my records, but they were going to "help me" by getting it done quicker. They will call me when my records are ready. I am planning on calling them myself twice a day about my records because I do not trust them to either prepare them or send them to my new provider. I will never use them again as the staff is either untrained or incompetent. There are many other places in the area to get imaging. The people actually doing the imaging were great. The experience and getting an appointment was easy. The billing issues are a nightmare. I was sent 3 email bills. I did not want to pay online anyway except through our bank. So I paid the bill through our bank. I got a 2nd email bill for the same amount. I called repeatedly but no one could find the payment. I stopped pay at my bank. I hand delivered a paper check to them. The receptionist was unable to print a receipt but she did email one to me. About a week later I got a 3rd email bill for the same amount. I called 3 times attempting to speak to someone in billing. I left my name and number 3 times. That was 10 days ago and still no one has called me back. I am going to find out where the billing office is and go in person and give them a piece of my mind. read more

BEWARE OF BILLING- Regarding imaging service, technicians and office personnel- all are great. HOWEVER, regarding imaging billing. I was charged at the time of service several hundred dollars on the day of service, so I paid. I now see from my Explanation of Benefits at BCBS that I should owe nothing. I called and spoke to billing and they are anything but polite. My payment is "under review" and I won't know if I get my money back until 2 weeks after I was charged. I went to North Star in flower mound and had a pretty poor experience. I was grabbing a cup of coffee before I sat down, and the door flew open and my name was announced. The woman looked at me and said oh you don't have time for that. I need you to come back now and I said can I just grab the cup and come back and she said no ma'am come with me now so I did. I figured it was just busy. I walked in the room and she said you can set your purse here. Please lay down. Thought it was weird. She didn't ask me if I was wearing any metal since I was having an MRI but I knew I was not so I just obliged. She gave me a pair of headphones and I mentioned it was cold so she said well I'll get you a blanket. So she slapped a blanket on me. And it was kind of smelly. I was like oh that's kind of stinky just joking and she said ma'am we wash it after every use. But obviously was not true because it was laying messed up on a table and it was the only blanket around. She handed me the headphones and put me into the tube and said here we go. It was so loud it really hurt my ears. I always feel bad ever complaining or saying anything but when I asked, may I please have some earplugs or some thing she sighed loudly and said hold on a minute. I could tell she was annoyed. She handed them to me and then said put the headphones back on when you're done and then she went back into her little area. I've never had such a bad experience there. The woman's name was Shannon. She was older and seemed burnt out. I felt pretty uncomfortable. I didn't sense any empathy coming from her which I could've used because I wasn't expecting the results of my MRI to be good.:( read more

Worst experience ever. They never read my x-ray until a week later and then still did not put the results in my file. I drouup to pick up my X-ray cd and the written results and found out the put my ultrasound findings on my X-ray results. They promise to get it to my doctor tomorrow but I have zero faith. Now O wonder if they even read my X-ray correctly. Not a fun experience when you are in so much pain and can't find out what is causing pain. read more

I had an excellent Genius 3D mammogram performed here at North Star Diagnostic Imaging by Leesa who made feel so at ease especially when she had heard about my horrid experience at Flower Mound Imaging Center aka Solis in 2016. I had vowed I would not ever have another mammogram done again but when a recent abnormal CT showed an indication to get the dreaded mammogram then I researched it and found that Texas just passed a recent law stating women with dense breasts are allowed a 3D mammogram. So I am so glad I got it done because this machine is so much faster and time equals pain. Fast machine and a gentle, compassionate technician make a world of difference. If your regular digital mammogram shows you have dense breasts and if ever there is any concern of cancer then please come here to this facility because Leesa (sp? She is a tall, blonde technician who has been working here for several years) will take good care of you as she soothed me compared to when I first walked into this facility. I was a hot mess! I actually smiled while having my mammogram because she was so pleasant to be around. Who ever heard of a woman smiling during a mammogram? Lol read more

Absolutely the worse scheduling department ever! No one was at the physical location to schedule. Called and left message. No call back. Called again and The person said I had to physically bring the orders to her or have them faxed. Gave her info to have faxed and again no follow up. Called again and scheduled over the phone. Went to appointment only to find out there are 2 locations in Plano and they did not tell me that. I went to the only one I knew. Had to again call scheduling so that they could tell me why no one was at the location. The informed me that it was at another location. On my way there they called and said I had to reschedule because it was 8:35 and my appointment was for 8:15-EXCEPT my appointment was at 8:30, verified by my son who was in the car when I made the appointment(on speaker phone). Billing practices are fraudulent. My daughter was sent here by her Dr for imaging. They told her services were not covered yet we checked 1st with BCBS and they were covered. My daughter is young and a full-time student, she charged the $1000 on her cc and then called me to let me know... We immediately called BCBS and again confirmed services covered and were informed that NORTHSTAR hadn't even contacted them for approval! When we contacted Northstar they said they had made an error in billing and would refund my daughters money via check in 4-6 weeks. We are going on over 2 months. When we called to check the status, they said the billing was still incorrect on their end. Once again we called BCBS and they 2 months later haven't received anything from NORTHSTAR for her services. We do not recommend using this facility for services as they are not professional or organized and they will try to cover their fees UPFRONT regardless of insurance (which we made sure they are in network and covered prior to). They took advantage of my daughter! We will be reporting them to state as well like BCBS recommended! When you call the office to get help & accountability, they give you the run around! Billing mgr, Shannon is non responsive. UPDATE- BCBS did receive claim from Northstar however they are billing for services not rendered. They billed insurance company for wrong services. So they charged incorrect at office, billed incorrect, submitted incorrect claim and still haven't refunded my daughter! Not to mention charging TWICE. We paid in full at time of service & they are also now trying to collect from our insurance. Definitely gonna have state look into their practice! Only God knows how many others they have scammed like this. We pay so much for insurance because of this! Also, the Dr who ordered imaging didn't like the images and she had to retake! I used their early check in protocol immediately after booking the appointment after receiving a text message asking me to do so. Then on the morning of my appointment, I again used their early check in protocol when prompted via text message. I arrived 15 minutes early for a 9:30 appointment and checked in at the front desk. I waited a good long while as I understand that things can get backed up even early in the day. At 10:15 I decided to ask if the wait was going to be much longer. A different woman at the desk than I checked in with said she'd have to check. A minute or so later I was called up to the check in desk. The woman I checked in with informed me that she had not notified the person performing my ultrasound of my arrival. At this point I expected to be told they were sorry and they would see me next. Instead she told me that they were scheduled "back to back" so I would have to reschedule. I shot her the "you've got to be kidding me" look, turned and left. I'll be using a different imaging provider for my needs. I worked in customer facing business for 25 years. I understand that things can go wrong. I like to give people a chance to correct mistake. However, it was very clear that none of the people I would be interacting with had any intention of making even the slightest effort to correct the issue.
