I have been so excited to write this review! If you are every drinking from Inverness to Skye or vice versa please please please stop and have a bit here! This is a hidden gem and one of the greatest places I have eaten in anywhere in Scotland!
We stumbled into Carron Restaurant by accident because my sister had to go to the bathroom. Thank god for her tiny bladder. The restaurant is run by two incredible women who for their seasoned age run the place as if they were in their twenties. One of them does all the cooking and the other takes care of waiting the tables. When I say all the cooking I mean everything. This one adorable lady not only cooks every meal, she wakes up early every morning to make desserts for the day as well. I will get back to dessert later ! I really do believe that people make or break a restaurant and before I even had a taste of the food I was already in love with Carron Restaurant thanks to these amazing women!
Okay so food, I don't want to over complicate this everything we ordered was incredible. I split fish cakes and venison pie with my brother in law because we couldn't decide which we preferred and my sister had a Mediterranean roast vegetable salad. The fish cakes were moist, delicious and not oily at all. The venison pie was delicious and had an interesting sweetness to it. My sisters salad was an interesting mix of raw salad leaves and grilled vegetables. The balsamic and mozzarella really wrapped the ingredients together perfectly in my opinion.
Okay so desert. We choose to get sticky toffee pudding with custard for dessert. I have had my fair share of sticky toffee puddings and this is by far my favourite one! It was so moist and perfectly gooy in the middle. Lastly, in front of the kitchen is entire cart of freshly made desert and sweets for take away. Everything looked incredible so we got scones for the road
So if you are every going to Skye, make a stop here! It will be the best meal of your trip! read more
