Service not the best (for such a top establishment). Not attentive. Even worse, no apologies when there was plastic in the dish! That is a major fail to be honest. Waiter said he'd talk to kitchen and never came back. When the bill came we had to tell this different waiter about the whole episode. Again no apology but when she came back with a revised bill she quietly took the charge off (so that dish was free). Fine but why such bad handling of this whole incident?

Emma was our server and was warm; delightful and very helpful with my gluten allergy; and Rebecca, the manager, was lovely, and helped us earlier in the day to arrange transport from Sconser. For the meal .... Well! We started with the crab, which was flavorful and very fresh. My husband saw the table next to us served the Curried Cauliflower soup, and had to try it. Super!! The entrees were exceptional; I had a lovely, thick piece of cod, with a beautiful butter and lemon sauce with grape tomatoes, and they subbed out a stacked potato dish, due to my gluten allergy, and it was delicious. My husband had the scallops with pork belly, and while both were fantastic, the pork belly was truly amazing. We also had a side of the seasonal vegetables, which were crisp and very fresh. If you are on Skye, don't miss The View!

The service was outstanding, our servers were everything that we could have hoped for. They explained everything and answered questions about specific items of each course. This is not a Michelin star restaurant and I asked why it is not. The presentation, the creativity and the ambiance are all certainly Michelin adjacent. The server said that they want to be more relaxed and not work for that 'star'. I would certainly not have known the difference. The 8 courses are listed in the menu. It is a fixed menu and fixed price. The choices are to request a wine pairing and coffee/tea at the end. We chose the red wife from Slovakia that was dry and quite nice. It's not possible to describe each of the courses. My favorites were Hebridean haggis-haggis with a turnip espuma(or foam) and buckwheat. The combination of flavors and textures was amazing. The other two dishes I lived were the halibut in a chicken reduction and small veges. It was so fresh and flaky and moist. The Seabuckthorn curd was incredible. That plant does not grow in N.A. the berry was pureed and explained by yogurt ice cream. There 2 small tufts of white chocolate infused work pine oil. I've never tasted something like that dessert. Make a reservation here if you can. The price is £105 from £95 from a review 3 years ago. It's well worth it.

A focus on using ingredients within a small radius and delectable preparations make this a hidden gem in the town of Portree. The team who works here is absolutely incredible. When talking about working hard, this is the definition of it. Hopefully some of the staffing challenges they currently face get addressed to provide more consistent service for guests and a less hectic experience for the crew. So, book early, get the trout porridge, the delectable focaccia, some Pommes Anna and fill in the rest with freshest seafood. Happiness will undoubtedly persist from there.

The hotel staff was lovely and helpful. We were smart enough to have made a dinner reservation before our arrival for our one night stay. Nice pubby dark wood décor and seating spread over a couple of rooms. Many tables occupied on our visit. Dinner menu Scottish leaning as to be expected. It was clear from the outset that they were low on staff with our (very young) server and water coming a good bit after seating. My partner was not real hungry this evening so chose to do a bowl of the soup the day-potato & leek. This came with a wonderful, fresh roll. The roll was pronounced fantastic. We have enjoyed many an excellent bread item in Scotland and this was another example here. They know what they're doing. The soup was very tasty but after a few spoonfulls, it became "boring". My choice was a Filet of Scottish Sea Trout (yes it is different from Salmon, Google it). Served with roasted new potatoes, braised leeks, herb crusted baby carrots, and smoked mussel butter sauce. The potatoes were perfectly cooked, as were the leeks. The carrots were interesting with the herb "crust", and the mussel sauce added an umami depth to the fish. Interestingly, the sauce included a few nicely cooked, out of the shell, mussels. A succulent addition. Loved every bite. For dessert, we chose a Cinnamon Apple Tart with Caramel Whipped Cream and Vanilla Ice Cream. All of this came together for a scrumptious finale to our meal. Especially the whipped cream. Perfect portion size also. Different planning could have put us here for a longer period of time and it would have been wonderful. If you are traveling in this area, try to either stay or eat here. You won't regret it. Highly recommended.
