Excellent food. Great service and such a comfortable atmosphere. Had the tablet cheesecake for dessert and it was to die for.

Neither my mouth nor my stomach was impressed with this meal. While the views were beautiful the staff was inattentive. Lots of hikers came in and out (some taking their shoes off at the tables) which I know is not their fault but still put me off my appetite. There were only a few ales available. The Parmesan truffle fries were nothing to write home about and the scampi gave me a terrible stomach ache. Overall we left disappointed with the inn but in awe of Ben Nevis.

They don't care about their guest health.

Horrible customer service. We requested to cancel due to COVID. the hotel refused and didn't care about spreading sickness.

This place was like a beacon shining through the mist as we descended Ben Nevis. We were cold, wet and hungry and saw this wooden lodge at the end of the trail, it turned out to be the Ben Nevis Inn so we stopped in to rest our weary bones and find out if we could get some food and drink. It was like walking into another time and place, the beautiful wooden lodge with high ceilings and tall windows was warm and comforting. The staff was friendly and took care of us in our weakened condition, but above all the food and drink was amazing! Everything we ordered was great, but do yourself a favor and try a pint of the Cairngorm Black Gold, it was one of the best stouts I've ever had! Ben Nevis Inn was such a great surprise, it turned out to be one of the best meals we had during our vacation in the UK. If you're in the area, wether you're hiking Ben Nevis or not, don't miss out on this hidden gem.

One of the best meals we had in Scotland. Beautiful view of Ben Nevis trail. Great beer on tap followed by Cullen skink & haggis. Wish we'd had room to try the fish n chips. Dessert was outstanding.

Oh. My. God. This was an amazing experience. Through Yelp we found this place in Fort William while searching for a place to dine. We thought: let's give it a shot. And so we did. Note: you need a car to get here, as it's really in the middle of nowhere at the foot of Ben Nevis. It's an inn, so you can also sleep there. For hikers and other outdoor activitiy fans, this is the place to be. But fortunately it's not only a place to sleep, but also to eat. We made a reservation, just to be on the save side. When we arrived, numerous candles were lit and it was warm and cozy. The waitresses welcomed us and showed us to our table. The menu is not huge, but really nice with local food - and also nice scottish ales from the bar. I personally liked the blonde ale the best - really delicious. As a starter, I got the duck with pancakes, not really knowing what to expect. But then I received this nice place of stone with the bowl of duck and four cute little pancakes. It was delicious! As the main dish I then got the Ben Nevis burger. It was really good, the meat was nice, although the bun wasn't my favorite. I have high expectations when it comes to burgers - so I'd give that one 4 stars. The staff was extremely nice - not to mention that the two waitresses were absolutely gorgeous - and this place with its mountain hut atmosphere is just so cozy. We both loved it and could've stayed for several more hours. We were there at 6pm and only a couple of tables were occupied. By the time we left, the place was packed. Reservations are recommended. Sometimes there's even live music. And on the menu they say that if you can play an instrument, feel free to bring and play it. Now how awesome is that? I totally recommend dining at Ben Nevis Inn to all people living in or stopping by Fort William - it's a true gem! 5 stars from me.

Nice place to chill!

When you arrive in Fort William for the first time you could be worried about the place you will be staying at (everything looks terrible). Although seeing this hostel was a huge release! Literally located at the bottom of Ben Nevis, you couldn't ask for a better view. Staff is nice, there is a cosy restaurant where you can either order comfy food or just a drink. The dorm is clean and quiet. People come here to climb, so they go to bed early. There is a kitchen if you like to cook.

The local smoked haddock and potato soup. Good way to warm up

It's such a great atmosphere with a cozy area to eat in front of a wood-burning cast iron stove. It's a very pet friendly place as well. We saw a cute doggie enjoying the warmth inside the bar. We ordered the chicken casserole special. It was good despite the price being a little too high for what it was. I'd expect to have a puff pastry on top of it for that price. Although, it was very tasty even though the presentation was not all that great. It was served with mash potatoes instead of chips. It was good. They have a big variety of local taps. I went with the Jock Pumpkinhead Stout from Loch Lomond Brewery while my husband had the Man O'Hoy from Orkney Brewery. We were very happy with our local brew selections. It was a very nice atmosphere for lunch. If you're a Harry Potter fan, then you may want to take that hike from here to the filming location of Hagrid's Hut. The pathway up to the hut is just a short walk from the inn. The inn itself is kind of unique with the ice ax and ski décor. It reminded me a little of Ketchikan for some reason. Maybe it was the 5 Points of Contact photo that I saw by Peter Daynes. There's also a display of ice axes designed by Hamish MacInnes. Our tour guide in Ketchikan was coincidentally named Hamish. Wow, everything does come around full circle. It all turned out to be a nice lunch experience in the Highlands.

Their kitchen was just about closed, and a lot of food was already sold out completely. They managed to prepare some sandwiches for us, which was really kind as we were starving and everything else was closed. It was the perfect end to a rainy and chilly drive in the dark evening. We returned the following day for a proper dinner. This time we had a delicious meal, with good ale, and sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Everything was delicious. I think the atmosphere of this warm inn amidst the wild and roaring space deserves some merit as well. The establishment itself has this cozy, communal, and quite bustling atmosphere, which everyone seems to gravitate to in such a mystical and sleepy place. Outside, there's this beautiful, ancient, raw nature, that's so dormant and old, that feels so past civilization and humans, and then you enter this place and reacquaint yourself with people and interaction once again, in a communal, close-knit space. I loved it. I'd really recommend for anyone to just visit the area, walk around, feel its old, natural, and magnificent power, and then stop for a delicious and hearty meal here after. You definitely won't regret it. Try to get there not too late, however, or you might end up with no meal like we almost did!

Staff were friendly and service was good. Started with garlic bread and a pint, then I had the steak and black pudding pie while my wife had the Mongolian beer. Both very tasty and served piping hot. Cleaned the plates! A sundae for desert was a good way to finish. Regular bar in the other room was crowded and noisy - seems like a popular meeting spot. Altogether a very pleasant experience

Getting here was the most special, maybe. Having driven a car on the left for the first time ever on this day, wanting to have a beer or two, and staying in an apartment in nearby Corpach, we didn't really want to drive on this evening. On a beautiful evening, we investigated the Corpach waterfront (the end (the beginning?) of the Caledonian Canal) and took in the unbelievable views along the waterfront path (the Corpach shipwreck, Ben Nevis, the loch, and so on), and we wandered on over to Caol and the Lochy. (We returned via the canal path itself; you can jump on just across the street from the Lochy.) I see from Tripadvisor that plenty of tourists get to the Lochy, but it sure seemed like a locals' spot on the night we were there, with a number of families present. Although the outside of the place suggests that it might contain a dim warren of rooms, it's actually a couple of brightly lit larger rooms with a bar in the middle, where you order your food and drinks. Venison burger for me was pretty tasty--although it came only with caramalized onions and goat cheese, which left things a little dry--and the wife's fish and chips were OK. Like I say above, the food was fine, but not especially memorable. Several beers were on draft, and everything was reasonably priced. 3.5 stars.

For dessert, I wanted to try the cranachan sundae, having never had cranachan. Inside was oats, berry compote, clotted cream (I think), ice cream and whipped cream. It was all excellent!
