Outdoor patio is a great spot for drinks and dinner. View is amazing and they offer a nice selection of food and drinks. Service was a little slow, but they were busy

Enjoyed a great meal here after hiking around Three Sisters! Fun loud pub experience after a bit of a wait (no reservations, so you have to put your name down when you get there. More luck for 5:30-6pm arrivals!), but the waitresses were quite kind to our four small children in tow (crayons, drawing paper and even a small stuffed animal to play with while we were there). We loaded up on venison lasagne (amazing), seafood chowder (good chunks of fish, very creamy), and fried sole and shrimp (delicious shrimp!). The kiddos had a whole page menu to choose from as well. Good eats around the table and we'll be back to try the cheesecake!

My friends and I came into Fort William to grab dinner before our long drive back to Edinburgh. We found some restaurants completely full/booked. We ultimately decided to opt for Ben Nevis Pub because they had availability right away and we were all super hungry. First glance at the menu, nothing really stood out, to be honest... I had a hard time deciding. I eventually decided on Steak Frites for my entree. My friends and I also decided to share a small appetizer of Baked Camembert. INDIVIDUAL BAKED CAMEMBERT: The cheese can be an individual size as stated. But my friends and I all decided to share. We all got a small piece of the cheese wheel. The cheese was nice & warm - which means a good melt. The red sauce on top reminded me a lot of the thai sweet chili sauce. I loved the combo of the semi-sweet/very mild spice sauce with the warm cheese/bread. It was small and such a tease, but I did enjoy it. STEAK FRITES: The entree comes with a small bowl of steak frites topped with pea shoots, a pate stuffed fried mushroom and a small serving of skinny fries. The fries were probably my favorite part of the meal. I would rate these fries fairly high. It definitely hit the spot for me. I would find myself going back to it more than the other items of the plate. As for the mushroom, it was unique. The pate was super crunchy on the outside paired with the soft juicy mushroom inside. The main entree steak frites itself was okay. The pieces were a bit rougher than I would have liked. The peppercorn sauce was very apparent. You can tell it had a lot of black pepper inside, which isn't very off-putting, but wasn't the best. Overall, everything was okay. Nothing stood out in particular, but nothing was horrible.

    Salmon special. Delicious.

I'm really on the fence as to how to rate this place. In my preparation for the trip I had tagged this place as one of the few with decent Yelp reviews in the area. In fact it is located on a touristy pedestrian street with lots of pubs and cafes. Because it started to pour, we dashed inside to this cozy pub. We were lucky to snag an empty table by the door. No view, but cozy and most importantly out of the rain. Menus arrived and drinks came rapidly. We were mindful of time given that we were on a tour. Our meals arrived and my salmon was great! Fish and chips had by another was also good. But the steak, oh that sorry looking steak...revolting. It had been sliced into strips and may have been microwaved and that tomato? Oh no no no. I don't understand the disparity in dishes. There were two lovely ladies that were overwhelmed with the volume of customers caused by the rain. It was so difficult to get our bill.

4/8/23- arrived at 6:30pm and they told us about 45 minutes. But you had to wait in the bar area until you are called. We went in there and it was to hot and muggy. Also, we don't drink beer. It is the only item in there to order. Then asked if we can just wait around here until we are called. Then told we have to be in the bar. Well that is a no go. 1 star for lack of an efficient way to have guests wait. We were not going to wait in a bar with a high temperature on for a heater which felt gross and order drinks when we don't drink beer. Best to walk around and find something else here.

In business since 1806! Great ambience. Beautiful views of the loch. The staff are phenomenal. The best we've come across so far. They do table service. They have an extensive menu. You have to try the Long Highland Tea. We had fish and chips. Beautifully done. Light and flakey. Cooked to perfection. The sticky bread and ice cream was good. But not the best. Sorry.

The Ben Nevis Pub gave us a delicious dining experience at an affordable price. On the main street of Fort William, it boasts seating with a demanding view of the loch or you can warm yourselves by the fire. My Balmoral Chicken with a Whiskey Cream sauce and freshly prepared kale was fantastic! A vegan option for my friend of Bangers and Mash was a nice surprise. But do not skip dessert here! The Sticky Toffee Pudding was warm, and sinful. Overall a nice dinner that left you feeling full and satisfied.

Didn't expect my most favorite meal to come from a place like this but the vegetable Wellington on their festive menu for Christmas was perfect and absolutely delicious! Didn't think it could get any better and then my vegan cheesecake arrived. Perfect setting for a perfect meal.

The self described "ultimate" burger. Beef burger with half a chicken breast and bacon, cheese chips and onion rings.
    Darren C.

Pub food should be hearty and enjoyable and in this place it was unfortunately neither of those things. The self described "ultimate burger" had an overcooked beef burger, dry chicken (which I suspect had been reheated in a microwave,) undercooked bacon and a soggy bun which fell apart long before I stopped eating. The menu suggested there would be onion rings and salsa as a side, the salsa turned out to be a small tub of barbecue sauce and the onion rings just didn't exist. An overall underwhelming experience, and the less said about the music the better. The saving grace would have been the friendly service, but even this disappeared after our money hand been handed over.

My, my, what a meal that was!!! Some context: there was a constant drizzle outside, we were a bit tired from walking around and visiting Neptune's staircase, and it was time to feed our bellies!! I had been in this pub some time ago but not in the refurbished, more restaurant-style area upstairs. I treated myself a Bourbon boar burger (I just couldn't resist to such a title), and I wasn't dissapointed!! My partner go the fish pie which was great, creamy, plenty of cheese. I tried the Dark Highland ale with a chocolate hint, which I recommend, and the sticky toffee pudding with custard cream was among the best I've tried. However, the highlight of the afternoon was the Strawberry meringue pie, which was... Divine!! I've been to other pubs in Fort William during short visits in the past, but this is one I will keep going back!

I really want to give this wee pub more stars, but it really wasn't that great. My boyfriends sister owns a house in the near by port and we were in town for a marathon my boyfriend and his wee brother was running. On our way to meet him at the finish line, a group of us decided to stop for a bite to eat, knowing we had a bit of time to waste. There were so many other options in the area to choose from, but for whatever reason, his sister decided she wanted to come here. When you walk in, it is your typical looking locals pub. Cozy, lots of dark wood and plenty of seating for everyone. The restaurant part of the pub was upstairs and was just as equally cozy- lots of tartan, lots of dark wood. A guy comes out and tells us to sit anywhere because they're not busy and he would be right out to take our order. The place was literally empty, so we chose a window seat to look down at the loch. With drinks ordered, the waiter came back to take our food order. Straight away, he rattled off about 5 things on the small menu that would not be available due to the fact that they didn't order the items needed to cook them seeing as how they get such little business. So, that left one of us with having to make another choice. After everything was said and done, we all ordered and the waiter was off. He came back after a long wait to let us know that it would still be a few minutes until our food came out and in the meantime, sat two young guys next to us. Believe it or not, they actually got their food before us. Anyway, i ordered fish and chips, which wasn't the worst fish and chips I've ever had, but it surely wasn't the best. My boyfriends step father absolutely hated his chicken and vegetables. In fact, he didn't even touch the veg, saying it was really that bad. My boyfriends sister ordered a burger and liked it enough not to say anything, and my boyfriends brothers sister ordered mac and cheese and said it was ok. There's really nothing great about this place and one would hope service picked up in the warmer months. I think this was the first and last of our visits here. We won't be back the next time we're in town.

They also had a couple of small sandwiches to eat. On the other side they had main Chinese food. So overall they had a LOT of options. We chose the northern hot beef, beef tender soup noodles, Singapore rice noodles and a hot chocolate and a slice of apple pie for desert. The hot chocolate and pie arrived immediately and looked absolutely wonderful. As we kept waiting for the main dishes, we couldn't resist and we finished off both. The apple pie was fresh and had that wonderful crisp taste with the right amount of crust and not too much sugar. The hot chocolate was the perfect mixture of frothy milk, milk and chocolate. We had to add a bit more sugar though. We ended up waiting a good 27 minutes for the food to arrive. Now normally this wouldn't be that bad but since we were on a tour, our bus gave us an hour to finish our lunch. It took us about 12+ minutes to find the place leaving us only 20 minutes to eat and no time to look around. This is a tourist area so it would be better if they can manage to get their food out earlier. All of the dishes were absolutely delicious and had great flavor. The staff was very understanding and helped us fuss around trying to get everything ready to take with us. We will definitely recommend this place and go again if we have some more time!!

The more surprising thing is that this oversight hadn't even occurred to us until we sat down for lunch at the Bridge Cafe and saw that a couple of different breakfast plates were on option. It was not too late! I think we both went with the "Wee Yin," which was only £6 and came with an egg, meat (lorne sausage for me), bacon, a tattie scone, beans, and toast. I don't think I have a small appetite, but this was plenty. (The "Big Yin" adds additional good stuff for £2.5 more: haggis, black pudding, and mushrooms. I'd have to wait till the next morning to get some haggis and black pudding...) This was simple but hearty eating, and very satisfying at the midpoint of a drive from Skye back to the Edinburgh area. Spean Bridge is a charming little place, and this spotless cafe is colorful, has plenty of natural light, and a cheerful air to it. At one point, a couple of the young servers picked up instruments (acoustic guitar and accordion) just behind us, and I thought we were going to be subjected to acoustic jam versions of pop songs, just like those dreaded at a certain chain sandwich shop in the States. But this was pretty great, just an interlude of a couple of sprightly yet gentle instrumentals, and then they were back to their tables. Excellent spot.

The food and flavors are from the Highlands and Skye and I loved their placement, its a map of Skye and some of the food produced in that region. The chef is a young man and I saw him coming out of the the busy kitchen a couple times to take a break. He shook my hand when he asked what Whisky I was drinking and I told him a Gelnfidditch 18. The two problems with the restaurant were they had the heat turned on very high, it was uncomfortably hot and I would honestly rather have been cold. The other problem was they were very short staffed so the meal started out great but our server was invisible toward the end and we sat around for 20 minutes trying to see him so we could leave. Haggis + Paneer Pakora: Great Haggis fusion dish, felt traditional and yet paid homage to some of the new cultures that make up the UK. Slow Braised Lamb Shank: Rosemary Infused Mashed Potato and Roasted Root Vegetable. Very tender and delicious, our whole family shared this even though it started off as just my wifes dinner. Sole Veronique: Potatoes, spinach, and a cream sauce. Tasted OK but I thought the sauce was too heavy for the light fish it was on. If you go across the street from the restaurant and look down you can see the iconic row of different colored houses that a lot of people were taking pictures of.
