Wonderful spot along the river in Inverness. This spot was a short walk from our hotel and they were able to accommodate my gluten free need. Our server, Great Gal but can't remember her name. Had an Australian accent.... But she was fabulous!! Everyone was so friendly and just created a relaxed and comfortable environment. We left before the live band started but they do have music most nights I believe. Ohhh and I had one of the best "Scottish" coffee (aka Irish coffee) I have ever had here! Thanks for the recommendation (-). We would love to come back to Inverness one day and this spot will be at the top of our list for a meal!!

From the US. We tried Cullen and skink first time as well as the wild mushrooms risotto. Both were delicious. The smoked haddock in the Cullen was simply amazing. Large portions and very friendly service. Glad we stopped in.

Scotch beer, delicious

Our group came in late into Inverness and was recommend this pub from the driver. We were hoping to grab some pub food and a beer. But on a Friday the kitchen closed before 9:00 so no food. so found a table outside to have a drink and realized their was a burger joint next door called Coyote. Since we were drinking outside we brought food over from a delicious burgers to enjoy with our beers, best of both worlds since eating burger. Unfortunately while drinking outside at the bar we were told no outside food and told we must put away. Thought strange since we were out of the restaurant and their kitchen closed and saw others eating chips that were clearly not from the bar. So we put the food away to be respectful and finished our beers and will find a new place to continue our drinking.

We came here twice during our brief stint in Inverness because the food and service was just that good! Would highly recommend the burgers here! Re the vibe: there is def a "bar feeling" for part of it and restaurant feeling for the other part. Oh, and live music!

Cool little spot. Good menu and the service is pretty good. But like all Inverness it is busy. Reservations help. We skipped in with no reservations. The waitress and the front was bubbly and sweet and took care of us. She was attentive and patient. But it was early. Lol. Cool feel to it. Pub and warm and beer and old guys And tourists. Menu has burgers and salads as well as some local favs. Guiness pie, fish and chips, some smoked haddock with leek and onion soup. Full bar with wine beer whisky and anything else you fancy. I've heard of good nightly entertainment. We'll update the review after we eat. So.... The pie was more of a stew with a puff on top. Not bad but loaded with mushrooms. I'm not a fan but my wife enjoys them so she took care of that. Also no tatties just chips which were ok. All in all tasty but wouldn't order it again. Wife got the nessie burger which she liked. Only packet condiments. So if you want ketchup or mustard ask for extra. They should put some on the table. Didn't like the coleslaw. Tasted like mayo with a little bit of cabbage. Pretty good.

Steak, priced at 30 pounds

Ambiance: divey pub Service: good (no complaints) Food: 1) steak was cooked as ordered with a side of chimichurri sauce but both sauce and steaks were pretty bland. 2) house hamburger: tasty patty but the buns were cold and slightly densed for a brioche. The fries/chips it came out very crispy. The coleslaw was drenched in thick mayo (I couldn't eat it). 3) mussels were delicious & came with a lot of bread to dip. Asked for an extra 2 wedges of lemon which cut the sweetness of the cream sauce and it was so delicious with the addem lemon. 4) beet salad came with arugula and marinaded artichoke hearts. The arugula was extra spicy but I think this salad would pair better with a mixed greans. The spiciness of the arugula took away the sweetness of the beets. The marinaded flavor of artichokes didn't mingle well with the beets or arugula.

Haggis spring rolls were very different but good.

Very large portion of Fish and chips and great service. The servers were very friendly and attentive, beers were good and the apps were delcious as well. I had the onion tart and it was seriously the best I've ever had and my boyfriend had the haggis spring rolls which he really enjoyed. Great location and we got a seat right away. They also have outside seating. We both had the haddoak and chips were really good and fresh

Worth the hype! Everyone is super friendly when you walk in, and took the time to chat with us throughout our meal about local recommendations and menu favorites. Having just flew over from dublin, they really captured the Irish vibe and felt like we were still there! The gnocchi was delicious and full of flavor, as was the Guinness stew!

If you like mussels, run do not walk to this spot! The chef's secret sauce is so rich and flavorful with a sweetness that really works well with flavor of mussels. The service is excellent and the burgers are tasty (but come dry so add some ketchup and mayo before eating!). Great location!

Nessie Burger, fries, coleslaw (I think)

The food was really delicious, the service was really amazing. We didn't have to wait long for our food, when we did the only the I noticed with my order of 'The Nessie Burger' was the fries needed some salt. The atmosphere was really country like, however if you go with little kids make sure not to go by the bar as when we were sat near it we could hear a lot of f-bombs being dropped. All in all it was a great meal and a great restaurant, highly recommended you eat there!

This is a MUST VISIT if you're in Inverness. I was lucky enough to get to chat with Bruce…read moreMacGregor, one of the owners, and listen to him play. His passion, talent, and story telling is unmatched! The roast dinner was delicious and the cocktails were so fun! They take great care with the details around the pub, giving nods to history while pushing forward progress within the re-adoption of traditional Scottish music. Come for a drink or a meal, and stay for the vibes, history, and immense talent on stage.

Re: Delicious Sticky Toffee Pudding…read more To the Greek couple we met in Inverness, with great apologies, we suffered confusion of which delicious desserts we had at various restaurants around the city, inadvertently directing you towards a place that did not serve sticky toffee pudding. We should have pointed you towards MacGregor's as having the most delicious sticky toffee pudding, now verified after having several others that did not perfectly balance sweet with salt as that of the sticky toffee pudding at MacGregor's. If the pub is full, please find your way to the end of the bar and the small door to the left that takes you to the cosy table service room where Jess and other wait staff, including little Nala, will take the best care of you. We also highly recommend the steak & ale pie and fish & chips, should you require something a bit more than the sticky toffee pudding. Again, apologies, and we are certain you will have a fantastic experience at MacGregor's!

You'll see. Downstairs: Never been in, seems a bit 'Local' In the sense of 'Royston Vasey' rather than ' Rovers Return' though. But upstairs: A total gem. A 100% Music dive of the best sort. Bar is tiny, but still hosts some of the best LIVE music to be had in Inverness and beyond. True sometimes its comedically awful. But sometimes its totally amazing. You never know what you're gonna get, and that's part of the fun, More hits than misses in my experience. Place can be quiet (but is never empty), or it can be completely packed out. It has a totally amazing friendly buzz either way. One day you'll get a 6 piece Death Metal band, next it could be some grey haired R&B growler, or a Cornish folk duo. At the weekends, don't be surprised to see 18 year old Goths drinking snakebite next to bearded kilties with Guiness who - but for the smoking ban - would doubtless be chuffing away on pipes. Mucially its mainly quieter Folky type stuff during week nights, and touring wannabes and up and coming bands playing the weekends. The size of the place means that the acts are mixed in with everyone else. Friendly, scruffy, and very chilled out, this is the bar where the Proclaimers hung out before they made it big. I almost always pass through when I'm out on the town planning to head to Hootenanny or wherever, and quite often, end up staying put.
