My husband said he wishes we could leave 10 stars! Everything was amazing! We started with the haggis starter first time having haggis and it was shockingly delicious. I recommend having it here so you can try it. My husband had the prawn enchiladas and I had the trawlers pie. Wow! So delicious. Mine was full of different fish in a dill cream sauce and topped with potatoes (tatties) and cheese. Out of this world!

Everything we ordered was superb, beautifully prepared and delicious. Lovely spot on the river. Well priced for the quality of food.

We stopped into the Water Front after touring all day. It was chilly out so we decided to try the Chunky Cullen Skink which was a cream of smoked Haddock soup with leeks and tatties (potatoes). It was so rich and warm and then I got a bone. And another. And another. So I nibbled on the buttery leaks until even those had a bone show up probably from the broth. We stopped eating it and wondered if we were wimps for not eating it because the woman at the table next to us ate the whole bowl. Luckily, my Fish and Chips did not have bones. I felt bad for eating the two giant pieces - we should've split it - but not bad enough to not polish it all off. The onion rings were a bit too soft for me. My partner got a Scottish Salmon dish with tarragon butter. It too was delish. We were surprised at the level of food for such a simple, bar-type place. We'd go back!

We stopped in here as many places were still not open until 5 or 6. This was such a pleasant surprise to stumble across. I would highly recommend this place as it's right by the River

We lucked out again and managed to get a table on an hour's notice. I asked for the gluten free menu and was told they didn't have one, but could tell me what was okay to eat. They also informed me that their kitchen was too small to guarantee anything would be completely gluten free. They suggested I pick a few things rather than them going through the whole menu, so I did. Option 1 was risotto: no dice, contains gluten. Option 2 was Cullen Skink, which was okay without the side of bread. Option 3, the pork belly, was also okay. I ordered the soup. My vegetarian companions split the risotto. They say the risotto was alright but nothing special. My soup was actually quite nice, I'd recommend it. There were a few desserts I could have had, but they all involved ice cream and I wasn't feeling it. Service was good but they were all running about, the place was super busy. It's a reasonable option when visiting Inverness.

The food was outstanding, we ate here twice in our three days in Inverness. Solid service, and a nice casual atmosphere.

Right on the river and food was spot on for a quick bite! Appreciated the walk-in (tip: arrive at opening to see if they can seat you).

Friendly service. Good food came out fresh and hot. A nicely sized menu. Had a riverside view.

Re: Delicious Sticky Toffee Pudding…read more To the Greek couple we met in Inverness, with great apologies, we suffered confusion of which delicious desserts we had at various restaurants around the city, inadvertently directing you towards a place that did not serve sticky toffee pudding. We should have pointed you towards MacGregor's as having the most delicious sticky toffee pudding, now verified after having several others that did not perfectly balance sweet with salt as that of the sticky toffee pudding at MacGregor's. If the pub is full, please find your way to the end of the bar and the small door to the left that takes you to the cosy table service room where Jess and other wait staff, including little Nala, will take the best care of you. We also highly recommend the steak & ale pie and fish & chips, should you require something a bit more than the sticky toffee pudding. Again, apologies, and we are certain you will have a fantastic experience at MacGregor's!

The World Cup Game was on so it was lively and fun. I will tell you, this was some of the best seasoned food we had the entire time we were in the UK (two weeks). Finally we didn't feel the need to add salt to something. The flavor was just spot on. My husband had the beer steak pie with puff pastry, I had the Cullen skink, my son had a pizza (I can't remember if it was on the kids' menu or not) and my daughter had a Caesar salad with chicken, which she eats a lot at home and had been craving. Both the skink and the stew were perfectly flavored! The fish in the stew was tender and so was the steak in the pie. If we ever go back to Inverness, we will be sure to be returning to Johnny Foxes. Oh! And our waiter was wonderful! I don't remember his name but a young blonde man with a mullet kind of haircut. Thank you to him!

We dropped by for an early dinner and got seated right away in a booth. The menu is broadly pub fare, with a focus on burgers and a couple of more upscale dishes (including an excellent fried camambert). We split the camambert (panko crusted and served with a fig and onion jam); my wife had a vegan Scotch broth + house made bread + tomato & pesto bruschetta, while I went with the highland burger: haggis on top of 6oz of dry aged Angus beef. The burger was exceptional, with a deep and pleasantly gamey flavour while the haggis added some richness. Paired with a pint of a local cask ale (Cromarty Brewing Happy Chappy pale), it was as good as dinner as we could've imagined on our first night in the Highlands.

You'll see. Downstairs: Never been in, seems a bit 'Local' In the sense of 'Royston Vasey' rather than ' Rovers Return' though. But upstairs: A total gem. A 100% Music dive of the best sort. Bar is tiny, but still hosts some of the best LIVE music to be had in Inverness and beyond. True sometimes its comedically awful. But sometimes its totally amazing. You never know what you're gonna get, and that's part of the fun, More hits than misses in my experience. Place can be quiet (but is never empty), or it can be completely packed out. It has a totally amazing friendly buzz either way. One day you'll get a 6 piece Death Metal band, next it could be some grey haired R&B growler, or a Cornish folk duo. At the weekends, don't be surprised to see 18 year old Goths drinking snakebite next to bearded kilties with Guiness who - but for the smoking ban - would doubtless be chuffing away on pipes. Mucially its mainly quieter Folky type stuff during week nights, and touring wannabes and up and coming bands playing the weekends. The size of the place means that the acts are mixed in with everyone else. Friendly, scruffy, and very chilled out, this is the bar where the Proclaimers hung out before they made it big. I almost always pass through when I'm out on the town planning to head to Hootenanny or wherever, and quite often, end up staying put.
