This place has gotten much better over the years and now with Macaroni grill not being anywhere south of the point of the mountain, this is an excellent replacement for some great Italian food! Normally love this restaurant. But the server we had named Sean made the experience terrible. It was obvious he had no care to be there. No people skills in a position that requires you to talk to people. He came to our table maybe 3 times. When he took our orders he wasn't kind or seem like he even cared. Only refilled my drink once. Which is not why I am paying over $3 for. Especially when it was empty majority of the time. Didn't fill the others waters ever. Didn't come check to see how the food was for 15 minutes. We came for my birthday. And he never even came to see if we wanted dessert at the end. It was most of my friends first time at Carrabbas and it was not a good example of the restaurant. Overall thoughts: Provo is in need of a good Italian restaurant in a bad way. And for a moment, I thought that Carrabba's might deliver. However, it did not quite do it for me. However, like many chain restaurants, the food lacked the quality which usually comes from a mass produced menu. The atmosphere (3 stars) - This interior of this restaurant while not bad, is a bit dated. However it is comfortable and offers both booths, tables, and bar seating. It would be a good restaurant for a big group. Also, you can see into where the chefs are cooking, which always makes me feel better about the food. The food (3 stars) - The food is good. The free bread and olive oil they serve you at the beginning is tasty, but the food we had felt a bit overseasoned, and premade. They do a good job of looking for new and interesting flavor combinations (i.e. goat cheese and sundried tomato grilled chicken). Service (4 stars) - The service we received was exactly what was expected. Our server was friendly, quick, and attentive. Value (3 stars) - Unless I can tell that the sauces, pasta, and meat are fresh, I have a hard time paying $15-$20 for something that I could easily make at home. However, the portions were gracious, and I did walk away full. Will I go back sometime? - I am sure I will at some point. What I ordered: Bread and Olive oil: Free bread is always a good thing. While the bread is not super high quality, it is served warm and is quite delicious. Entree: Chicken trio 1- Chicken Bryan (Good, not great. We went last night for a birthday dinner and I know with 12 people it can get a little nuts. We order drinks and they took a little extra time to get them out to us. Once she return with the drinks she took our order and brought more bread. It was a good 30 min before she showed back up with the soups and salad. I thought it was a little strange she brought the kids main course with the salads. They order the kids Spaghetti and told her no meat balls. It was on the spaghetti. The waitress goes, oh they place them on the spaghetti, you can remove them if they do not want them. The mother had to remove before a major melt down. They should have never left the kitchen with them on there and the waitress should have known better to bring an order out to the table when she knew it was not correct. Plus the person checking the orders should have caught this. Then my mother order lasagne, she had to eat around the sides as the noodles was dried out and did not look pleasing. Then I had the Veal Piccata, the veal was way over cooked and it was very tough. I have had the Veal there before and it was never over cooked. I did not want to say any thing to upset my sisters birthday. Since it was a lager group, for the three of us, I did leave her a 20% tip, since it was a large group. We are long time Carrabbas fans! Their bread is always fresh from the oven and we love to dip it in their olive oil and balsamic. Surprisingly, Carrabbas has one of the best filets in town... Especially if you have it served Bryon-style (topped with a mild goat cheese, herb butter, sun-dried tomatoes and fresh basil) ....absolutely delicious!!!! Hubby and split the filet and then each get a side of pasta but they've taken my favorite pasta off the menu It was the Cavatappi Americiano (not sure about the spelling) but it had the most flavorful sauce and unfortunately their other red sauce is weak. Please.....bring the Americiano sauce back! Until then, I get a side of stuffed mushrooms as my side dish. I believe the Provo location is undergoing some renovation which is badly needed... the decor is very sad, but we keep coming back for the food! read more

Carrabba's will always be one of my favorite restaurants. The new face-lift/renovations look great, update the environment, and add a "new-ness" to the overall experience. When it come to Carrabba's I am a life long diner; I've been enjoying the food, service, and atmosphere since 2009. Be reassured the food, service, and quality ingredients have not changed. I highly recommend Carrabba's to anyone serious about their overall dining experience-hint, try the Sirloin Bryan, it WILL change your life! Five stars all around!! Ok Provo folks, I know there aren't many options for Italian here, but how is this place getting 4 and 5 star reviews? Macaroni Grill and Olive Garden are both improvements on the fare at Carrabba's and that's comparing to only chain Italian places. Remember Fazolis? Even it was better than Carrabba's, no lie. I love when hosts/waiters take drink orders and tell you they make their own lemonade in house. So you order it and they bring out what tastes like Minute Maid. Then you look at the menu and it has the Minute Maid Logo they proudly serve. Did y'all know Minute Maid is handcrafted at Carrabba's in Orem? It was news to me too! Penne Pomodoro-The side with my entree. The only thing served hot. Delicious! Terrific basic red sauce. Minestrone- Cabbage soup. Bowl of cabbage, a few green beans, and some chicken broth. Unlike any minestrone I've ever seen. Chicken Marsala-bland and basically drunk mushrooms slapped on some over cooked chicken. Chicken Venetto-undercooked chicken, undefined "cream" sauce that may literally have just been warm heavy cream. I really don't like being so negative but the food was just so far below any reasonable standard. Perhaps they had a bad day or we just ordered the wrong stuff but our family won't be back. Two stars only because of the limited options for Italian in Orem/Provo and our waiter bless his heart for trying, but really, just eat something else and wait until you're in Salt Lake to get pasta. read more

Carrabba's is a good place to go when you're in the mood for cheap but good Italian food. Definitely a better choice than Olive Garden. I like the restaurant atmosphere and the service is friendly and attentive. On our most recent visit, we had forgotten the gift card we intended to use but got a picture sent over. The manager was gracious enough to accommodate us. We had a very tough steak that was inedible and the server and manager were more than accommodating to make sure they made it right. I was thoroughly impressed by the service, which is the main reason why I gave this place four stars. Their lentil sausage soup, prosciutto wrapped shrimp, and lobster ravioli were delicious, absolutely no complaints. I thought their shrimp and scallop spaghetti was OK, there weren't that many scallops to be memorable. But the best thing I ever tasted here, surprisingly, was their brûlée cheesecake, LOVED IT! This place is definitely a worthwhile place to come to on occasion for decent Italian. Not the most authentic, but it does the job and more. read more

We were feeding a group of 12 in Orem Utah and they suggested the family menu. We ordered the chicken Bryan with penne pasta and salad. Much to our horro when we opened the foil package seconds before the dinner the chicken were the smallest, most embarrassing pieces of chicken - split half breasts cut in half. Nothing we could do as the guess were standing there but apologize. We have done Carrabbas take out before but in individual servings. I have never been so embarrassed and having two people who were eating Low carb they went away hungry. There was enough pasta bread and salad but the chicken pieces were so skimpy I got out the tape measure and measured them. Shame on you - we got ripped!!! Our 3rd time with a bad experience at this location. The only reason I will give the 2 stars is because of our server. We arrived at 11:38 they open at 11:30. The bathrooms were filthy. Our booth had food on the seats from the night before. Our chicken parmigiana came out burnt could only eat about half. We won't be returning to this location again. read more

Front of house let's whoever they want ahead of people who already waited an hour for a table. They say they don't take reservations but that's not true. For "special" people I.e. whoever they want - they let ahead of the line. There is no real system for waiting. They write your name down in a notebook and give you a "guessed" time to wait. That time is not accurate at all. I waited for 45 minutes as that was what the said it would take. After waiting they proceeded to tell me that they let 6 groups jump me and it would be another hour. The management should be appalled by the front of house employees behavior to guests. We prefer Carrabba's over most of the other Italian chain restaurants. It's somewhat interesting though because pasta is not the star here. Instead it is their wood grilled steaks, chicken and chops. And when you top almost anything with their marsala sauce it is divine. We have never had a pasta dish that we absolutely loved but the pasta is decent. It's just not their speciality in our opinion. If you ever are in the mood for a good filet, try the filet here with the marsala sauce and choose fettuccini alfredo for a side. Great combination of flavors. This was the best dining experience we've had in a long time. We actually had gone to Outback here and were treated so rudely. Told there was at least a 1 hour wait - to go wait outside. So we said let's try Carrabbas (location is newly remodeled). Top notch service, absolutely delicious meal!!! Four adults and 5 kids seated in 20 minutes!! So happy!! What can I say? I can't complain about Carrabbas like I do other chain places, because for some reason Carrabbas and their wood-fired oven works. Carrabbas is the place that introduced me to goat cheese, and one of the few places that keeps me coming back for more goat cheese. Carrabbas is the place that introduced me, in my younger years, to dipping bread into olive oil (we didn't go out to eat much with the fam) Carrabbas is the place where, at least according to my memory, I noticed how wood actually influences the taste of chicken. Carrabbas is the restaurant that helped me understand, when I was younger, how hard kitchen chefs and line cooks actually work. Yes, I've been to much better places--much, much better places. Italian comfort food chain that has its format nailed. Good food, service and facility all adds up to good to very good food that goes down easy. I've dined here at least a hundred times. It's was the go to place when I flew home most Fridays from work. Now I don't fly weekly, but I still go here. Chain places tend to be complete cookie cutter copies of each other. Carrabba's can be more variable. Unlike the Macaroni Grill or Olive Garden, the sauces are made locally instead of showing up in frozen tubs to be reheated. This also means management has to make a bigger effort to keep the quality up. Of all the Carrabba's I've been to, this is the best. They have low cook turnover. Clay and Leo really keep things going properly. I also like not having a gimmick when the server shows up. The only thing I miss over Carrabba's in cities is the lack of a bar here. Having a drink before dinner at the bar is a really nice thing. In the end, the food has to be good. They nearly always have steamed mussels. Even if they are not on the menu, ask. They may have them. I find the local sauce a little too lemony. I ask for less lemon, and since they make it locally, it comes with less lemon. I never order pork chops at casual dining places. They are always overcooked and dry. Here they will cook them medium and showing pink if you ask. That makes them very good. They may not be a steakhouse, but their Filet is the best steak in town. The veal isn't completely overcooked. It's pretty good. There's a real wood burning stove and the pizza is quite good too. I used to go to the Macaroni place and thought they had really nailed the casual chain Italian. I went here a few times and then back to that other place. Everything had a salty edge I hadn't noticed before. I've noticed that since. Carrabba's still salts higher than I would like on some things, but it's miles above the competition. When business is really good they bring in higher priced veg like the haricot vert (the smaller tastier French green bean). Other times they are creative with zucchini. That's the kind of touch other chains aren't doing. The service is usually quite good. The facility is nice. I make sure I come early, or preferably late on busy days since there are no reservations. That's about the only negative. It may be a chain, but it's one of Orem's best restaurants. read more

As far as Italian goes, Carrabba's isn't s bad spot to pop into - nothing obviously compared to Italian Italian food - but when you need a food fix near the item / provo mall, this isn't a bad spot to pop into. The setting is nice - they have a big open kitchen area in addition to your classic seating options around the place and they've decorated it nicely. I wouldn't say many of the eateries around Utah are very high class, but this place is at least a nice spot to stop and grab a bit to eat. Food here is 'more expensive' for Utah - but honestly is not bad at all - running you something like $5-7 for an app and $12-15 for a main item - very reasonable for a dinner out. The place tends to get full so always nice to call and make an advance reservation so you can cut your wait time down. Not a place I'd consider a top eatery in provo / Orem but hey, it's good food at a good price, what more could you want? read more

Leaves Olive Garden in the Dust Carrabba's is the better version of Olive Garden and Macaroni Grill. It is absolutely my favorite Italian restaurant. The steak marsala is like looking into the face of a new born baby....wow! I ate there last night and was constantly grunting my satisfaction, much like Bob Wylie did when he ate corn at Dr. Marvin's house.....mmmmm. If you go there try the Steak Marsala and then when you return from taste bud island, hit me back with a thank you. Tip: They will give you hot bread and oil w/some spices to dip it in but you can ask them for fresh cheese and balsamic as well. If you mix all of that together and then sop it up with their bread you'll be in heaven. Also, the caesar dressing is excellent but improved even further if you dip a tiny bit of your lettuce in the above mentioned concoction. My family took me here on the 2nd for my birthday. The hostess was a bit frazzled and we had to come back about 90 minutes that was understandable. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly. We received our order pretty fast even though they had a large group come in before us. The food was excellent. The prices were pretty high that was the only draw back. Maybe the ambience for an high priced Italian restaurant, it could have been better instead of looking like a modern to go bistro. Other than that, the food was really good, it had flavor which I'm finding Utah does not flavor their food that much; coming from Texas we have a lot of food from all over the world with so much flavor. Let's start with the positives, shall we... We got seated quickly on a busy night, which for a group of eight was impressive. We called two other restaurants in the general vicinity and were rudely turned down when asking if they could accommodate us. The ambiance was nice and we could hear each other well. The waiter was friendly and helpful overall, quickly filling our orders and refilling drinks. The wines that we ordered were good, appetizers were tasty, and most of the entrees were good too. Now, on to the less positive stuff... Maybe I'm just unlucky but my entree (chicken parmesan) came out quite burnt. It's definitely got a problem when someone on the other side of the table makes a comment about how 'toasty' my meal was. It still tasted fine so not a huge issue. What I DID have a concern with was how painfully clear it was that our waiter was trying to turn our table. I'm not sure if it was him pushing directly or the manager's guidance, but, without prompting, he was passing out our checks before we had even gotten halfway into our entrees. I was so excited to eat here but was quickly disappointed with the hostess. Very disorganized with the seating, call ahead list and waitlist. Our waitress greeted us and took our order. I unwrapped my napkin to see dirty utensils. Grossed out I asked for a new set of utensils. Understanding Covid and cross contamination with the waitress removing the dirty knife from our table she left it the entire time we dined rather than having the bus boy remove it from our table. We ordered mozzarella marinara which were cold and chewy. I ordered the linguine positano. I ordered it with shrimp and my daughter ordered it with chicken. What a disappointment. They laid 5 medium shrimp on top of about 3 cups of pasta. And 3 chicken slices on my daughters plate. The crushed tomatoes, garlic olive and basil has no flavor. I added crushed red peppers and still what a dull dish. The chicken trio was interesting. All three options chicken Bryan, pollo Rosa Maria and chicken Marsala all tasted the exact same. Very strong flavor but all the same. The garlic mashed potatoes were room temperature and not worth the $3.99 they charge. The dinner salad with house creamy Parmesan dressing was ok. The bread they bring to the table was probably the best tasting item except for the French fries with olive oil and garlic. Now the fries were definitely the best tasting item on the menu. We were driving up to salt lake. So I knew they had a Carrabba's in Provo I have been to a Carrabba's in Colorado. I really liked it. So I wanted my wife and kid to try it. The place is off the main interstate 15 a few miles so it is easy to get to. The place is clean and they have good service. Our server Nicole was very nice and proficient. She was very good at explaining all the choices the menu had to offer. I had the chicken trio my wife has lobster ravioli and my daughter has tilapia. We all liked our dishes. Got on the call ahead waiting list for 7, walked in the doors at 7, the host proceeded to tell us we were moved to the top of the list and still given a 15 minute wait time. We received a text saying we were checked in and would be texted when our table was ready, we then waited 30 minutes and decided to head back in and see what was happening. Everyone that was inside waiting when we first walked in and supposedly behind us on the list had been sat. Host then told us sorry it'll be 15 more minutes and I'll actually text you this time when your table is ready. The food whilst not outstanding was definitely on the good side. Food was tasty and customer service was friendly and willing to accommodate our dietary needs and we got our food on time. It was a quick and breezy visit for us. The price is economical. The best portion of the menu was the portion size which was to me the most optimum portion size I have had for lunch in a Italian cuisine. The ambience inside was one of the better i have seen a while and they had decked it up for Christmas too which made it even better. Altogether a pleasant experience and I would definitely recommend this place for lunch.
