We were at a beautiful children's birthday party at a lovely park in uptown Manhattan. What a great idea....small vanilla smash cake with colorful sprinkles ( for the birthday girl) and 5 Amazing pies from Carousel cakes for the adults. (There were cupcakes for the kids). No shame in birthday cake but this was a nice switch up. Apple, Blueberry, Pumpkin, Pecan and my favorite Cherry Crumb. Everyone enjoyed the treat. read more

I always had the blue velvet cake which is pretty good . I've heard about the cupcakes , however never experienced it . I was able to finally experience their cupcakes . I had the 6 pack. Cupcake flavors : cannoli , chip , Classic vanilla fudge , strawberry cheesecake and chocolate rum . The chocolate rum was my least favorite however, was still enjoyable . The only place to go for a carrot cake! We will travel far and wide for birthdays, anniversaries, etc. However, they are frozen so they need to be picked up hours ahead of time and kept at room temperature to defrost. read more

The first cake I ordered from Carousel through Goldbelly came perfectly cold/frozen without any damage and was delicious. Ordered again and it was horrible. There was only one cold pack and it was underneath the cake. It was completely melted and warm. I reached out to Customer Service and they sent a replacement. It too was not cold packed, received melted and warm and this was overnight shipping. It is apparent they only care about charging more through Goldbelly. What a shame. Also, the celebration it was planned for was disrupted as a result, twice! read more

Two pies and two cakes. Only one out of three were decent. That was the coconut custard pie. The two cakes came melted, and the frosting was rancid on both of the cakes because it was delayed for a couple of extra days not their fault really but by UPS, but if you're going to use UPS and gold belly, this is what you need to know Because they're ruining your reputation. The apple pie was overly sweetened. I thought I didn't care for it. Mine is better. The coconut cream was good though, but that's it - thankfully I got half my money back on the two cakes at least. read more

I have been a cutomer of Carousel Cakes for years. My family likes their cakes. I find the quality okay, nothing special. The service has been lacking but still acceptable. However my experience with them this week was abysmal. I was tasked with ordering a birthday cake for my 11 y.o. niece. The store hours are limited. I was misinformed when I called earlier in the week. I was led to belive that there would be numerous cakes of ALL sizes and was told they were a wholesaler, so scarcity was not an issue. I arrived early Saturday morning because they close at 1pm on Saturday and are closed on Sundays, I was told there were only 2 size options, 6" and 10" and no decorator on Saturdays. Noone to write a simple "Happy Birthday ". The staff member, even during the call seem aloof and a bit too happy to say "No", "we don't do that". During my Saturday visit observed this same non-accomodation with another customer asking for "Thank You" to be written on her cake. There appears to be a perverse delight in the staff saying "no we don't do that". It seems they are relying on their wholesale business and the individual customer is an inconvenience and nuance. I understand that they are listed as one of Oprah's Favorite Things, but that shtick is old. Oprah needs to visit them now to experience the arrogant monster she has created. Anyway, I will not go back. CakedUp on Main Street in New City, NY is about a 6 minute drive away and has better quality and creativity decorated cakes. More importantly I feel appreciated there. Carousel Cakes has forgotten that they need customers. I don't recommend. read more

I placed an order for an old fashion chocolate cake with the chocolate pudding filling, let me say that as a chocolate lover, this cake is very decadent but everyone loved it!!! The chocolate pudding is just slightly sweet and the combination of the chocolate crumb topping was very well executed. I order a 10 inch cake on 11/4 for pick up on 11/5, for $28,. The order was not placed online because thats is for cakes that are shipped out via FedEx and i was picking up the cake in person. I also requested that they write on the cake with red "happy bday". I was told the cake can be picked up between 1pm and 4pm. Overall it was a beautiful presentation and quality ingredients. You can get a custom cake if you want as they have many ways to customize a cake but, i just wanted a simple chocolate cake and i didn't mess with perfection. read more

I went here to look for cakes for my mom until I was distracted by so many nice looking cakes. I couldn't resist the Blue Velvet looking cake, looked so bizarre but so good at the same time. This place is horrible! I called Carousel Cakes Nanuet, NY to order my son's birthday. I ordered the cake over the phone but the girl who took my order claimed the payment didn't go through. I told her I saw the payment reflected on my account but she insisted it didn't go through. I emailed them a screenshot of the payment and I was told someone would call me back. Today I was told they would give me a refund and recharge the debit card to make sure the payment went through. 3 hours later I get another call asking for my card info again because they claim they don't see payment. I checked my account and I don't see a refund but I see the original payment did go through. This is turning into a nightmare. All I wanted was to order my son's cake. I spoke to the Manager and although he said he was sorry he could not explain why my card was scanned twice and I still didn't get my order! read more

Just picked up my custom order cake from Carousel Cakes today. As you can see from the pictures I posted, Carousel Cakes clearly doesn't care about having repeat business. I emailed the bakery 6 weeks in advance and provided 3 high quality photos of my desired cakes at different angles. I specifically asked that the bakery copy the piping design, including matching the frosting colors exactly as depicted. Eva responded to my email and noted that they couldn't provide the fresh flowers, but will mirror piping and colors as shown in the photo for an additional charge, which I gladly agreed to pay. The bakery proceeded to charge my credit card for full payment of the cake immediately after the cake order was placed. All good...until the cake was picked up today for an event tomorrow. What I received was the cake from the second picture I posted. This cake looked like a 5 year old designed it. Looks nothing like the cake in the photos I provided them. The poor attention to detail and lack of care blows my mind. I'm shocked that Carousel Cake would give this to a customer. The condescending manager Paul made up every excuse under the sun to justify their poor product - that frosting color can never be matched exactly and that this was the bakery's interpretation of the cake. I provided the bakery with very clear photos of the desired cake. Not sure why "interpretation" was required. And a bakery not being able to match frosting colors?? I wasn't asking them to replicate a Picasso painting. For the most part it was fairly uncomplicated piping work. And if the bakery couldn't do what was asked, then at least contact me and give me the heads up. The manager then decided he wasn't going to speak to a woman and abruptly ended his conversation with me to have a man-to-man conversation with my husband. He had the audacity to tell my husband that nobody really cares about the cake especially at a 1st birthday party, essentially making me out to be some unreasonable woman who is making a big deal about a cake that a child wouldn't have any memories of anyways. Ironic comment coming from a business that sells custom cakes. Long story short, after squabbling with the bakery for 30 minutes, they agreed to "fix" the cake. My husband had to wait another 45 minutes for the grand reveal in picture #3. While it was an improvement from the original cake, the fixed cake still doesn't look remotely identical to the photo they were provided. I'll end my posting with inspiring words from Manager Paul - "...to the best of our abilities". And to the best of my abilities, I will be going elsewhere for all my bakery needs. read more

The Cakes are better in comparison to the cupcakes. Key lime pie is divine and the carrot cake is delicious. The only 2 cupcakes I liked was the red velvet and the carrot cake. I tried the chocolate mousse Supreme in November for my birthday and I was in love. Chocolate mousse is typically my favorite dessert but I find it super hard to find. This chocolate mousse cake was amazing. Since November I have been wanting to drive up to buy the cake again and bring it back home to the Bronx. This weekend we finally took the trip bought a small 7 inch chocolate mousse supreme cake and also a few cupcakes. We got the blue velvet cupcake and also their green velvet cupcakes to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. I was surprised when I pulled up to carousel cakes, it wasn't in a plaza with lots of other shops, it was in a more industrial part of the town. It also stated that it was a wholesale shop open to the public, there was a steady flow of people in and out and a line that moved pretty quickly. Ordered a few cakes/pies from my son's school fundraiser for Easter. I'm not usually a blueberry pie person but this crumble pie was perfect! Not too sweet , the fruit wasn't runny, the crust wasn't soggy and thr crumble didn't overpower the fruit. A little whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream... perfect dessert. As for the carrot cake, I was surprised it went so fast! Even my son who's not a fan of veggie sweets devoured a huge slice of this cake. Again not overly sweet, not overpowered by the cream cheese frosting and the cake was nice and moist. Can't wait to tuck into the apple crumb as well. I'm sure it won't disappoint. I don't leave reviews but after my interaction with carousel cakes I'm compelled to leave one. My wife took the 35 minute ride to pick up the US themed cake today and was told they were not in stock. The cakes here are always delicious but the customer service is always horrible especially the middle aged female who always feels the need to be extremely nasty and condescending. My wife asked when they would be in stock again and she said they didn't know. Fast forward a few hours and I call and ask if they are in stock, the lady on the phone says they have them now so I offer to pay for one over the phone to guarantee me one and she states that it's against their policy. I now make the 35 minute trip to pick one up to be met by "Miss Friendly" who proceeds to say they are out of them. No explanation, no reasoning just pure nastiness. My review is primarily on customer service after they made not one, but two mistakes. We have ordered pies as part of fundraisers with a favorite being pumpkin cheesecake pie during the last few years. This year the fundraiser didn't happen, instead my sister drilove to Nanuet and purchased the pies in person. The pecan pie was amazing! The pumpkin cheesecake, was not received instead being a terrible pumpkin pie. As the pie accompanied us to Thanksgiving dinner, NO ONE ATE IT! I called Friday and was told this happened a lot! I could bring the wrong pie and pick another up was their answer!! Friday, my sister was at dinner, no pumpkin cheesecake!!! WTH!
