A spot for a quick bite. Came on a Sunday mid morning and there were quite a few bikers inside and outside and a healthy customer queue inside. Nyack pricing so not cheap. They serve some sandwiches and various pastries and cookies. We just ordered a chocolate muffin which I thought was okay: not my favorite texture ever because it didn't feel homemade though I'm sure it was. For a cafe like this, I'd prefer a quieter and cozier experience so perhaps coming on a weekday would be more enjoyable. read more

I highly recommend their fusion options! I had the dalgona matcha latte, which is a high quality & delicious not too sweet matcha. I had to try the miso chocolate chip cookie, which had a really good texture with good quality chocolate and again, wasn't too sweet and the miso flavor added a nice complexity. I'm so glad that I stopped in here instead of walking down the block to Starbucks. I had the apple crumble muffin and a latte. I dont mind waiting longer for my coffee if it is made correctly. I only planned on eating half of the muffin, however it was so delicious that I ate the whole thing. Itty was fresh and moist. The latte was strong and tasty. I am updating my review. I decided to give Runcible Spoon another chance since, the food was never the problem. Everything they make is tasty and worth it. It was the wait time that was insane. However, I must say that the last few times. The wait was much better than my previous experiences. They have a new girl who I may be wrong, but I believe her name is Pamela. She has been a game changer. She is pleasant, friendly and you can tell she loves what she does. This place should be ashamed of the Ruben sandwich they make. The young woman behind the counter was very nice and kept her cool when a long line formed and she was the only one behind the counter to do anything. Three super thin slices of pastrami....You literally can't even taste any pastrami over the buttered bread and sauerkraut. I understand prices of food have gone up, but for a $16 price tag, it really should have been more meat and meat all the way to the edges of the bread too. That panini was very, very sad. Stopped by this bakery with a friend over the summer for a quick drink and treat. Nice location, large, clean restaurant with plenty of seating. Overall, it was ok. The menu has a lot to offer, and the staff are incredibly nice. We shared a chocolate chip cookie, my friend got a latte, and I got a pumpkin spice iced chai. The cookie was yummy and my friend enjoyed her latte. Unfortunately, the chai was so, so bad I didn't even drink it and dumped most of it. It tasted mostly like syrup, and you honestly couldn't even tell it was supposed to be chai. A bit disappointing, but maybe this spot is just better at coffee based drinks. read more

I passed by this bakery and had to try it. I'm so glad I didn't keep walking! I bought a scone and some type of a croissant muffin with cinnamon sugar. wow! Both were amazing! The scone was really crisp on the outside and very soft on the inside with great blueberry flavor. The croissant muffin was outrageous, really buttery and flaky with lots of cinnamon sugar. Crispy on the outside and airy like a pop over on the inside. So tasty! I'm actually still dreaming about those! I will have to cross the bridge and stop by this weekend! I typically love this place. But recently had a not so pleasant experience. I had ordered a sandwich that comes with lettuce, however it did not come with lettuce. When I asked for lettuce the girl behind the counter acted like she did not know what to say or do. "This is how it came." When I reminded her that it is advertised to be served with lettuce, she then proceeded to say "well the kitchen is closed." The kitchen being closed, was not disclosed when I ordered, so they must have ran out of lettuce for the day. Overall, the panini was $14 and not worth the price I paid. Will probably never order food from here again. However, their lattes and desserts are worth coming back. read more

This morning I thought I would give this place a shot. We'll, it was subpar at best. there was one person taking orders, making the food and taking payment. Not something you want to see at busy breakfast time. The scone was average at best and the the egg sandwich was stale and over cooked. thank god I brought my own good coffee and some fruit. As a cyclist i'm a big fan of "the spoon" as cyclists call it. It's a great spot in Nyack on training rides where you can relax and have a cup of coffee, eat some lunch, and chat away with other bikers on the bikes parked out front with the provided bike racks. A huge plus. Great service, fresh muffins and croissants. It's great that they offer sandwiches and wraps at half portions. Perfect for a training ride so that you are not overstuffed. I always go for the brie, turkey, cranberry wrap, a arnold palmer, and if in season a pumpkin apple crumb muffin. Moist on the inside and a crunchy top. Definitely taste the pumpkin and spices. Feels like Autumn when i bite into one. The croissants are fluffy and flakey with the layering that a croissnat should have. It's great as well that they offer containers of water outside as well for us to refill our bike bottles. It's a great local neighborhood spot as well as i see many locals stop by in the morning for breakfast, baked, goods and coffee. They serve up full breakfasts as well as my friend had a omelette and potato fries. It looked great and cooked superb. I'm going to order this next time i'm there. read more

"The Spoon" is a bakery in Nyack that is a mainstay for all NYC cyclists. Given it is about 25 miles from Manhattan, it is perfect spot for a break, whether as the halfway point for a shorter ride or just a break point for a longer ride. I head to the spoon almost once a week on my Sunday rides. They serve soups, pre-made sandwiches, made to order paninis, as well as all the various cupcakes, cookies, muffins, brownies, etc. Their baked goods are excellent, especially the morning muffin, which is croissant ingredients poured into a muffin tray and cooked to fluffy, flaky goodness, with sugar sprinkled on top. Decadence. If you want healthy, they also have energy bars and fruit salads. The staff is really nice here. They even put out bike racks out front for their customers to park their bikes. This place is a Nyack institution. We used to come here back in college days for their "morning buns" - a delicious hybrid between a chewy roll, flaky biscuit, and sugared croissant. Now that carbs are much more of an occasional treat than a diet mainstay, "The Spoon" is mostly a memory of that bygone era. It's ridiculously popular with the biking crowd on the weekends I have found the staff to be friendly and pleasant. The space is large and comfortable. It's a friendly neighborhood spot that knows their clientele and caters to it. It's a few blocks down and to the left on Broadway, so not right on main crawl. This place is alright. It's a cyclist hang out and the turning point for going back down toward Manhattan. On my first time coming here, I saw he giant muffins and other pastries in there. This is a good place to refill on carbs, caffeine to power your way back home. I didn't think there was anything remarkable about this place, but it was a welcome refuge when I came here on a cold winter day. read more

There was one person working the counter at noon on a Saturday. They were out of bagels and biscuits, so I got ham, egg & cheese on a roll. It was premade and literally thrown in a microwave behind the counter. It cost me $12.75(!) for that and a medium latte. There are so many better places nearby that are better options. read more

They have a great large menu with lots of options. The cutest pastries in adorable shapes (crabs, hearts, dragon flies, etc) but there was only one worker so it took almost 10 minutes just to get a smoothie. I haven't tried there food items yet but I look forward to it! read more

My son used to buy cakes and tart from this bakery and it was great. So I drove 30 minutes to get a cake for my high school boy's birthday. There weren't many choices and non of cakes looked good so I decided to get a pear tart. Yes, I remember how delicious it was. But we were so disappointed. First of all, it was so hard like a rock and even my husband had hard time to cut. Then when I bit down to it, it has funny flavor and the coating on the pear is like a gunk texture like old dried up jam. So I just said, "Hmmm, it doesn't taste so good this time..." My husband said, " Do you know why? It's old. This must be a few weeks old." $18 is way too expensive for a week old tart. I wouldn't go there again. I could have gotten ice cream cake from Shoprite and it could have been much better. read more

A haven for cyclist. I have to admit, I was never one to stop for long periods of time during a long bike ride. That is not until I came to Runcible Spoon. The first time I came here I was surprised at the amount of cyclists lounging about, drinking their coffees, eating their muffins, etc. I didn't quite understand it really. But I was with other people who reassured me that I would love this place. And oh did I. The line on the weekend is long, but the service is fast and the staff is friendly. It's almost like they know how to cater to every cyclists' needs. Bananas, clif bars, hot chocolate, coffee, enormous muffins, grilled panini, PBnJ... I wanted it all. For 15 years my favourite place in all of New York for coffee and dessert and it is just a twenty minute walk from my high school. The coffee is great and very well priced against Starbucks, which is right up the road. The desserts are to die for. Every time i order a dessert it knocks me off my feet. Even the sandwiches are soooo good and very well priced. A great place and i can highly recommend it to any one heading for Nyack. read more

This is a great bakery with plenty of options. This is a place that is frequented by many cyclists, myself included. They even put out water outside for us. They have all kinds of half sandwiches and tasty paninis as well as many different kinds of pastries. I had their blueberry scone which was excellent. It's not the typical scone as it is more shaped like a cookie. Their morning signature muffin is also pretty good. It's like they've given up but remain open anyway. We went in to find sticky, crumby tables, ants scurrying around scattered papers near the windows, a gross bathroom and awkward silence- we could practically hear the two people who were also there chewing. Music would do wonders. The food wasn't bad, and I agree this was at one time an institution, which is why I have returned, but it desperately needs new management. It's all true...the good and the bad reviews - what 's good is here is that dang 600 plus caloried Morning Bun! a fusion of croissant and cinnamon bun. It is a HOT MESS to eat.... So if you embarrass easily in public, either take it home to eat in privacy, or make sure you sit at a table with your back turned away from the public. you will be wearing cinnamon sugar all over your face and hands [hey cinnamon bun face!! yeah, you!]. You can get them before noon on weekdays, forget it on the weekends, the cyclers gobble them up before any any night owl just laid their head to sleep. ahem. If you miss the Morning Bun, then you're best bet would be the oatmeal muffin, i don't like muffins. I love these. perfect texture and not too sweet, if you're a coffee dunker, then this is OHHH YEAAAHH. Forget the coffee here. unless you like tasteless watered down crap. I brew at home, go to the bakery, drive home and eat the goods like it was a sloppy garden tomoto sandwich over the kitchen sink moment.
