Oh my!! If you pass this spot up you are missing out. We ordered the cupcakes, chocolate chip cookies, and Cinnabons. The cupcakes were so soft and velvety. I was expecting had and grainy but these cupcakes are built as if you made regular ones and pulled them out the oven. My mouth watered eating them. The chocolate chip cookies were also soft and delicious. This place needs a stop when you're in the neighborhood. Even for the non vegan crowd these baked good will leave you surprised and ordering additional.

This is the beautiful chocolate peanut butter raccoon cake that I ordered from Glitterthickett. Larissa was wonderful. Highly recommend.

This restaurant was bustling on a Saturday afternoon. They have about seven or eight tables indoors…read moreand a couple tables outside. There were also several picnic benches around the side of the building, but I wasn't clear if they belonged to the restaurant. You order at the register and they call out your name when your food is ready. They have a ton of vegan/vegetarian options, as well as a great breakfast/brunch menu. I ordered the egg and cheese biscuit. The cheddar jalapeño biscuit was delicious. It was buttery and dense. The flavors were mild, but the sandwich was the perfect portion size. I also got a side of the vegan bacon. It was rubbery and tough to chew. Would not recommend. My husband enjoyed the breakfast burrito. We also shared the buffalo cauliflower. The cauliflower pieces were well coated in buffalo sauce and very flavorful. I also got the Don't Kale Me juice. It was tangy, citrusy, and refreshing. The Deep Roots smoothie was also quite tasty. They have free self-serve water and the employees were quick to wipe down tables so they were clean for the next party. Looking forward to coming again!

The aesthetics put me in the mind of earth day and such beautiful paintings on the wall and flowers and greenery throughout. Grass Roots Kitchen offers have high tops dining as well as, regular dining, and outside dining. The dining area is pretty large, length wise and beautifully attractive. I ordered the egg and cheese biscuit with the help of the cashier, I didn't get her name and it's on the receipt but I threw it out. Even though this was not a vegan dish, who could pass on a collosal cheese biscuit. The egg was a nice accompaniment to this cheese biscuit also. The lady that gave me the biscuits said, wow! That smells nice. I thought she was giving me a compliment on the order until I sniffed the bag. Normally I don't do well with my sense of smell but, boy oh boy! That was a gooooooood smelling biscuit. And the taste, it tastes so good, it makes you want to slap yo momma. (Don't do it, it just makes you want to slap her.) Needless to say, I really enjoyed this cheese biscuit. In hindsight I guess I could have grabbed a hot drink, maybe next time, and there will be a next time because I told the lady that this was my first time and at the restuarant and I'm new in the area. She said she's looking forward to seeing me again. I'm looking forward to more eats and treats or treats and eats. Whatever it is, just ... Inspire more, Yelp more!

Though not huge, their menu is plant based with an assortment of brunch/lunch items like bowls, salads and interesting sushi, as well as smoothies and other drinks. If you're open to vegan food and uncommon items in a western diet, you'll enjoy it. The pad thai slaw and sushirito were delicious and well made and everything on the menu was inviting. The teas were lovely and I really enjoyed being able to select a blend of herbs for my tea mug. There was some herbal water available, and a selection of desserts on the counter and in the fridge - chocolatey delights like "snickers" bars. We found a corner next to the stage with two armchairs and a coffee table which was the coziest corner to sit and chat. Though it was Friday afternoon at lunch time and there were several other small groups, it never felt crowded and we were able to stay for a few hours enjoying our tea and meal. Staff were very friendly and accommodating, and non-intrusive. You order at the counter and then sit down, and we were not disturbed at all besides our meal being brought to us when it was ready. Parking is limited but at least they have a lot. It's a short walk into the main part of the town. They also occasionally host events. Looking forward to returning!

Everything is vegan--I love it because for me it's less to worry about. Ambiance is comfortable, very similar to how they setup the dining room in their old location--which was earthy and homey. This location has an addition of an art room! For art days--appeared to be an area where adults and children can create art. I didn't venture in. Animals are welcome, some patrons had their dogs. Service was great. The cashier charged us for something we did not order and promptly sent a refund. They didn't have the salads and burritos from the previous menu but the owner told me that the menu items will eventually return. Will definitely come back!

My husband and I are not vegan, but I am seriously lactose intolerant and limit animal products for health reasons. We brought my brother-in-law who has a serious dairy allergy. The staff was amazing. You felt welcome the second you sat down. They were so kind to my brother-in-law (who has special needs) and happily explained and accommodated him without a second thought. It's beyond comforting to have an entire menu we don't have to worry will cause an allergic reaction. The food was excellent. As I said, we are not vegan, but we will be returning time and time again. The honey mustard and fries may be my new favorite comfort food. They were perfection! I had the steak and cheese and it was in awe of the flavor AND a great cheese on top. The strawberry cupcake I would get a million more times. Simple and sweet. The restaurant collaborated with JP Farm Sanctuary so you can see the pictures of their animals hanging around the restaurant. There is also local art. Very impressed. This was BEYOND needed in Litchfield County.

Delicious juice blends to start. Amazing buffalo cauliflower - our server said it was the best and we agree! Not the soggy, dough-laden stuff you normally get. Crisp and light and wonderful buffalo sauce. Fried oyster mushrooms - great! We had a mix of sandwiches - all great! French fries - so good! Chocolate peanut butter pie - fantastic! My vegan daughter was delighted as were the non- vegans. Also very allergen friendly. And just really the nicest, most helpful and friendly staff. Wish we lived closer!

Everything on the menu is vegan, but my family truly could not taste any difference when we visited. We ordered the Oreo protein pancakes, blueberry pancakes, penne with vodka sauce, and a breakfast burrito. Since I turned vegan, I've been craving pancakes so the food really hit the spot. The pancakes were so fluffy and tasted incredible. The penne was also so flavorful and was maybe our favorite dish. The breakfast burrito was also filling and tasted great. Overall, I'm very impressed with the quality of food and would come here regularly if I lived in the area. Additionally, the prices were super reasonable and are definitely more affordable than the average restaurant in the area. Chelsea was our waitress and I want to give her a special shoutout because she was particularly helpful and friendly to us. She did an excellent job answering our questions and even was willing to share general tips on vegan cooking. SOD Thai Kitchen

4.5 stars We had…read moretried several Thai restaurants in Bergen and Rockland county and had continually been disappointed. However, that changed with our discovery of SOD. First off, the staff was extremely nice, both on the phone while placing our order and during our seamless pickup. Though we took the food to-go, their dining room was certainly cozy and comfortable enough for dining in on another occasion. When we got home and unpacked the food, we saw that the portions were generous and that everything was well-packed. We started by sharing the unique, Handmade Thai Crepe Dumplings. The beautiful dark purple noodle wraps had been stuffed with peanuts and turnips, a spectacular flavor combination covering salty, nutty, and sweet profiles. I then had my Tom-Yum Soup, which had been served in a quart container that was about 2/3 full, so a bit more than a pint. The spicy, sour lemongrass broth was packed with mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, lemongrass, Kaffir lime leaves, and tender white meat chicken, which we had asked to be added. The soup had been prepared with a medium spice level that was ideal for the dish. However, the restaurant was not shy with their spices on the main courses! I went with my standard Pad Se-Ew with Chicken, for which I do not typically specify a heat level. However, the restaurant's menu mentioned that spice could be added between mild and extra hot. I asked for medium, but it was definitely more fiery than I had expected! However, the noodles were delicate and the Chinese broccoli was fresh and crisp. My mouth might have been a bit numb, but I could still tell that the dish was tasty! Everyone else loved their individual plates, though we all took note that we should be more careful with our requested spice levels going forward. In addition to our own meals, we shared an order of the Garlic Noodles with Chicken, since it was an unusual dish for a Thai restaurant. It contained sautéed, flat rice noodles with egg, bean sprouts, scallions, garlic, sesame oil, and tender chicken. A mild heat level was perfect for this, as the lack of fire allowed the robust sesame and garlic notes to make an impact. Each piece of chicken was lean, moist, and tender. SOD Thai really exceeded my expectations and was definitely a local gem that we would order from again!

Homey, family run, authentic eatery that brings in the hospitality of the Land Of Smiles. I was there for dinner recently for a family event and we ordered 7 entrees and some appetizers and had it family style. Most notable dishes were the Chive Pancake appetizers - light and fluffy, crusty on the outside with a tangy tamarind sauce to accompany. For the main entrees: the Shriracha Fried Rice was outstanding. Well balanced and tangy with just enough heat and crunch. The Pad See Noodles and Garlic Noodles were both heavenly. You could taste that the rice noodles were made fresh, each day. You won't want to miss the Tamarind Shrimp either. A most unique dish. The other remarkable dishes was the Green Curry with papaya and bamboo shoots. Simply divine. For each entree, you decide what kind of protein you'd like or go vegan. Reasonably priced with attentive and friendly service. Don't let the strip mall vibes put you off. Park the car, pull up a chair and get ready to feast. You won't be disappointed.

I'm sure you've never heard of him because you're too young, but we worked for JAQUES MAXIMUM. A little Napoleon that could get the same results even better results without screaming constantly! Nothing like being the only woman in the kitchen and having a bunch of Frenchman, screaming obscene words at you in both English and French. Why I tolerated that I still don't know I really wanted to learn. I was on the line with Alfred Portale, and was his commis. He opened his extremely successful restaurant after Jacque decided he had had enough and went back to France. He came every two weeks straight from the airport and started screaming before he even saw anyone down the long hallway. I'm truly not kidding. Alfred warned me don't look the CHEF in the eye. I think that's the first thing he ever said to me. Then the Anita Hill hearings happens and the backlash was incredible. They would sexually harass me every day and then ask me was I going to sue them? I'm not a violent person, but I felt like taking a kitchen knife and never mind. This was my first job in a good Kitchen and the manager had cocaine running out of his nose when he was telling me that I was only worth three dollars an hour. I didn't go to some fantasy school. I went to the school of hard knocks. My husband and I spoke to Mark a very nice guy, at least to us. Most people don't want to get any feedback and that's a big mistake. We gave him. Our feedback thanked him and left it at that he thanked us as well. We really were restaurant consultants. It's so easy to see what's wrong in the kitchen and what's dangerous in the kitchen at first glance and then when you dig deeper, oh my gosh, it's a wonder we even eat out anymore. If people saw what went on behind the scenes, they would never ever eat out, but we know ROOT 2 RISE is not we repeat not like that. You also sell some great crackers. We can't find anywhere else. We kept the box it is called BETTER BUCKWHEAT. ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS AND NOT TERRIBLY OVERPRICED. I think someone might be making mistake when stalking the shelves for crackers and other snacks.
