If I could give less I would gladly do so. I Understand that this year is a tough holiday season for business and people, as I can relate as i work in the industry. But for a business employee to insult someone is another thing. My sister who's currently home after not being home for two years as she serving in the US Army, wanted to stop here today to have a breakfast at her favorite bakery. Not only did she get up very early to make sure the family got some fresh baked goods, but she went out of her way to walk down and surprise us. Upon entering she was questioned as if she was homeless? I'm not sure why that's a question you would ask a paying customer, or why you'd judge someone for how they are dressed. For her to deserve that disrespect is awful and terrible. Whoever made that comment should be ashamed as not only did you disrespect a loyal patron, you disrespected a US Army Solider. Words can't describe how much I see red right now with this business. Hope whoever made those comments has a great day, because you've now made a new family joke in the house. This is the midway point on our bike rides on the weekends.. And sight of this place makes my heart skip. Partly b/c I know we're halfway done and partly b/c I know there are smoothies/sandwiches and desserts for my consumption should I choose. The smoothies are perfect after a long, hot day bike ride and they are large enough, I don't even really need to eat anything. But in case I am hungry, I can get either a half sandwich/wrap or a full one based on how hard of a ride it's been. Price wise, a large smoothie runs about $6 and a half sandwich about $3. Add a water and I've just had lunch for just over $10. This place is great for bikers as they've generously put out two large bike racks out front. Having said that, there are plenty of locals as well, attesting to the quality of the food here. It's not anything outstanding but it's a good spot to stop at. read more

This place *is* a cyclist watering hole. In fact, I moved to Nyack with fond memories of cycling to the Runcible. It is a bit different since they've changed hands, but the food is still pretty good. Lines are often long and their servers get confused sometimes. Overall, decent, but there are definitely better bakeries in town, better coffee, and better deli food. What makes this place stand apart is the bike racks and the free water cooler for cyclists. If you're an average joe, there's better food in town, but this place isn't too bad either. Great spot to stop if you're cycling. Coffee, baked goods, healthy snacks, and even half sandwiches will help refuel you without weighing you down. There are racks outside to park your bike and a water cooler to refill your bottle (on the weekends). Prices do seem a tad high, but I suppose its a convenience fee. read more

What happened to this wonderful bakery? I'll tell you, the family that originally owned this spot sold it to Ms. Kim. After getting rid of all the original bakers and staff, this unbelievably rude women ran it into the ground. I would never support this store again unless I see a sign that says under new management. The food is gross. It went from great and delicious to skimping ingredients. Baked goods tasted stale and expired. There is no customer service. Just tried a creation that a girl behind the counter called a combination of Cinnamon Bun & Croissant. She was right on the money with that description. It was slightly crusty on the outside with loads of cinnamon sugar and soft in the middle like a croissant. It was large and messy but sinfully good. read more

I've always passed by this place, but never ventured in until last weekend, when I needed to write a paper and the nearby Starbucks was overflowing with people. When I came in there were a couple of other people inside -- a lady on her laptop working on some writing, and a family next to us. The coffee was pretty good, and priced slightly cheaper than Starbucks. I stayed in there for a couple of hours and while there was constant flow of people, it never got too crowded. The barista and the other staff members seemed friendly. Will definitely head back there again when I'm home for break and working on my thesis for next semester. read more

As far as coffee shop rides go, I never have a bad time hitting the Runcible Spoon. They are so courteous to cyclists which is great and they have loads of bike parking. They also provide water outside which is awesome. The food I would say is okay, not great, not terrible, and the prices are slightly high I suppose but not egregious. I do prefer stopping in Piermont mainly because then I don't have to ride back as far after my snack, but I never turn down the Spoon. read more

Packed with people who have come there on bicycles and are very proud of it. If you're the kind of person who defines yourself by mode of transport, and if that mode of transport is very slow and impractical and incapable of transporting other people or luggage and has two wheels, then you'll like this place. There is just not much to recommend this place. I really wish it was good. It is right near my new home. It has outdoor seating. Always interesting conversation going on outside. BUT the pastries are both bad and expensive. The coffee is bad too. I drink decaf so maybe the regular coffee was better. I have been twice now and have been underwhelmed both times. The name says it all. A runcibile spoon is a spork with an attitude just like this place is a bakery with an attitude. Always willing to drive a bit out of the way for a special treat, my son and I drove over the Tappan Zee to try out a morning bun. It was ok- though nothing like the raves I read on this site. This place is hit or miss. They get supremely busy on the weekends -- hordes of adult bikers congregate here to eat. The food can be really good on some days and blah on others. I'm not sure the food here is that fresh. Some of the baked goods tasted stale and even the ingredients used in the panini tasted a bit aged. The baked goods are decent, not awesome but not horrible. The service is okay. I would support this place because it is a local small business owner but it's sort of blah in terms of the actual food and baked goods. There are better places in Nyack. Several negative experiences. Eggshell in an egg salad wrap, stale cupcakes, and ordered a yogurt smoothie but she took the yogurt out and it was moldy, they didn't have any more. Bikers in tight padded bike shorts come here from the city on the weekend in droves. It's like, The Spot. I haven't ever seen so many thousand dollar bikes in one spot since... well, ever. First time customer and couldn't believe I paid 12.00 for an egg white omelette. The gentleman explained it came with morning potatoes, but if you think about it, I would have had a cup of coffee that would have been refills and an amazing omelette and hospitality at a Diner for this price. High way robbery. Insane and wouldn't even recommend it for anyone. The cookies for children homemade are 6.00 for 1 cookie. Shame on this owner. The wait for my food was more than 10 minutes. This is a cycling Mecca. You will meet cyclists from all over the world stopping by for a panini, scone, cookie, oatmeal, coffee etc. The food is really good and quick to get in and out. Great place to sit outside and people watch. There is a water bowl outside for your dog. read more
