If you don't know Rockland Bakery, you're not from Rockland County! Man, there is NOTHING bad coming out of this place! I unfortunately don't get down here nearly as often as I'd like, but I definitely help 'empty' their challah racks when I'm in the area! You grab a large brown paper bag, walk through the place and fill it with freshly made bagels and breads, and then pay what seems like some arbitrary low number they come up with while at checkout! When I was growing up, we'd go in here at 4-5 a.m. when returning from the city and purchase even 'fresher' bagels and breads if that's even imaginable! How you can still get this close to production and touch and take yourself is beyond me, but I don't care! I LOVE this place! Long live Rockland Bakery for never changing! FYI, Don't leave without ordering a few sweets from the bakery side! Again, you won't believe what you're paying for what you're getting! read more

Rockland Bakery is always worth the trip! One of my favorite parts is watching the fresh bagels and breads come straight off the conveyor belt, still warm. The smell alone makes you want to buy everything in sight. Their service is also good some staffs are helpful and gives you information of bread, pastry you want to know! Their sourdough bread is a standout,crispy golden crust on the outside with a soft, chewy center and just the right amount of tangy flavor. It tastes incredibly fresh and pairs perfectly with butter, soups, sandwiches, or even on its own. I always get one when I stop by here! Just was passing through and I wanted to update my review as I have pictures to show of all the goodies that they have in the bakery. They have updated the bakery area, which is pretty cool. You can place an order, but it has to be a specific item and I forgot how much was the limit even if you're passing through the town I highly suggest stopping there and get some good goodies. A bakery emporium, a wonderland, a foodie's fantasy come true, a staple, a tourist destination, a tradition for many. No matter how busy they get, they maintain a clean and professional business and keep improving. I challenge anyone to find another "bakery" like this anywhere in the world. There's also a full New York deli and tables to eat at. They are open 6am - 6pm currently (used to be 24 hours a day), but still operate/bake 24 hours a day. Be prepared for your visit, bring a cooler, make space in your freezer at home... you basically walk into the checkout area lined with cases of pastries, donuts, cookies, cakes, etc, Past that is the deli where you can separately purchase coffee, drinks, spreads, appetizers, sandwiches, meats, cheese, salads, sides, breakfast and lunch options. And past the deli, down the hall, is the fresh baked breads (about 30 varieties), bagels (about 15 varieties each), rolls, hoagies, pretzels, baguettes, 5 lb loaves, gigantic hero's for game days. We stopped at the deli first for brunch. (Deli items are paid for separately) I had bacon/egg/cheese on a Kaiser roll. And my wife a bagel sandwich her way, basically cream cheese, and some veggies on an everything bagel. (She was disappointed they had no cucumber). And we also had cream cheese, and salads to go. Then we grabbed some large grocery bags and plastic gloves and headed down to the freshly baked breads. We loaded up on challah bread, bagels and Kaiser rolls. Sesame bagels were coming off the conveyor HOT. On a good day, about 25% of everything you touch is still warm. Now we head back to the front cases to select some sweets... Rugelach (sp), black & whites, biscotti, almond horns, hamantaschen and rainbow cookies. The prices are so fair, the service is always outstanding. I have never seen an unhappy employee. ALMOND HORNS, are probably the most unique treats they sell. I have rarely found them anywhere else, and never as good as Rockland Bakery's. The marzipan is so concentrated, it tingles the tongue and lingers in your nose. The chocolate dipped on both ends balances out the almond punch perfectly. We visited the Rockland bakery in Nanuet and they have redeemed themselves in the area of service. There was a warm and pleasant energy to all the women working at the front counter today as opposed to our last visit. They've also done some updates and expansions. Seriously I would give this place a 10/10 if I could. My cousin turned me on to Rockland Bakery when she came over for a family gathering at the end of summer...A month or so later on the way back from another gathering her mom and I went and got some pastries, I bought a Tiramisu cake, a Cheesecake, cheese danish and small Cheesecakes for my nieces. All of them were delicious in every way imaginable! Service is good but don't look for smiles. It is like a direct bakery and it gets crowded! Ambiance is factory direct bakery...Nothing special but not filthy. Though they should serve coffee where you get the cakes. This is one of those situations where I do not care about anything except that this place has yummy stuff! When I move back East, this becomes a regular stop! read more

Not sure what the hype is about. The place itself is amazing, a factory! Racks, shelves, bins full of bread and you can see their bagels moving through a conveyor belt. You can find an unimaginable amount of bread. The smell, amazing! The entire place smells like fresh baked bread. In terms of taste, we thought the quality was mediocre. Very enjoyable but very overwhelming. It seems like everyone has been there a thousand times, so it can be a little confusing the first time with little assistance. I asked some questions to the people in the bread room but they were not too thrilled about helping. I'm happy to go back, especially after tasting the bread, I'm just saying it's confusing the first time. Prices are incredible ! The bread room is incredible!! The Bread is incredible. I was confused about the deli. I wanted to get a cream cheese bagel but it seems like I had to buy the bagel and cream cheese separately and put it on myself. Fascinating industrial bakery. If you are into machinery, it is a cool place. Great assortment of breads and rolls, some very good - others not so much. They produce a 'ton' of bagels which are okay but definitely not the NYC chewy bagel style you get in bagel shop. The bakery area is a different story. Serving hot bread and bagels for over 4 decades, this bakery shop is known for picking your own hot bagels and bread just out the oven. If you're in the area definitely stop by and get your dose of bake goods. They also have a wide selection of pastries and a deli location serving sandwiches, hot and cold. The portions are also huge from the looks of it. I will surely be back!! A gem in the area and kids love it too. Go check it out. A visit to NY is not complete without visiting Rockland Bakery! Went here on Wednesday November 26th 2025 with my parents during our visit to NY. we found parking, parked, and entered the bakery. sweet smells of pies and pastries filled the air. This time we only went to the front park where they sell pastries. There was a line, but there is so many people working there that the line moves relatively quickly. Person who served us was pleasant. We got a box of dozen donuts, some cookies like rainbow and leaf cookies, and an apple pie. Oh, and we also got 2 almond horns! They also have a senior discount too, in which we used. We paid via a credit card. left with like 3 bags, and went on our merry way. Hope to be back next time we are visiting NY! read more

Does anyone actually work here? I've emailed 3 times and called twice to open a wholesale account and didn't even receive a generic email response email that anything was received. My local restaurant depot said they stopped carrying them because their deliveries are always late/never show up/customer service is terrible. TIP: When it's busy at the deli section, just remember to grab a ticket at the deli counter and wait for your number to be called so u can order your food. I had a ham and cheese(lettuce and tomato) on a roll and it was pretty good. The roll itself was very soft. Sausage, egg and cheese on a roll- pretty good I also got 2 things at the bakery section to try. The chocolate croissant was alright. The croissant was soft, but not flaky. The almond horn was not really to my taste. Ive never had an almond horn before so not really sure how they're SUPPOSED to taste, but it had a weird nutty/minty taste that I wasn't fond of. There is no other bakery like Rockalnd bakery. It is family Owned and so cheap. The cannoli cake is a must. They can add a cookie on top and write a note ex; Happy Birthday Kate! You can walk Into the back and see all of the bagels being made. Their salt bagels are perfect There are lines at times but never longer than a 15 minute wait. I've been coming here with my family since I was a child. There's something about this place that makes me feel at home. From the indoor deli with fresh and delicious meats and sides, to the bakery full of cakes and pastry's, everything is fresh and delicious and made in house or sourced nearby. Good breads and pastries and great prices but my gripe with this place is that the bread room is an unorganized mess. Maybe the staff can tell the difference between white bread and sourdough but I can't. They need better LABELS and more of them. The staff in the bread room always seems preoccupied doing anything but helping customers. None of the bagel racks are labelled. Try to figure out if a bagel is plain and a little well done or whole wheat. It's just not worth the hassle. read more

Holiday lines move very quickly at the Rockland bakery. Good luck finding a parking spot. The cakes are flying out of this shop- two days before Christmas. This is the first time I've been in the store, and I have found the system to be a well oiled machine with pleasant staff. I went in for a birthday cake and walked out with croissants, donuts, and a cheesecake for the holidays. All of that cost just $45. Im actually disappointed in my experience today at Rockland Bakery deli usually it is very good and the employees are exceptional but today I guess everybody was just off because of the snowstorm and they didn't seem to wanna be there. First of all we were trying to order and the big white guy with tattoos we were speaking to him and he just walked away which was extremely rude. The other nice lady that was working there saw that he walked away as we were talking to him, and she gladly took our order. He was very rude. And if I ever go back. I will gladly ask somebody else to take my order even if I have to wait 10 minutes for somebody else to become available. We picked up some Kaiser rolls, challah bread, pretzels, and a cheese danish. Thankfully, you are required to put gloves on as it is self service. This place is busy on a Sunday !!! We came in here around 11am and there was a long line. Thankfully there are at least five cashiers helping speed things up. We bought the plain cheesecake and the brittle/cannoli both which were excellent. We also bought a slice of the carrot cake which was just okay, a a slice of the cappuccino cake which was less than okay (dry, not flavored enough like coffee/cappuccino).
