Fascinating industrial bakery. If you are into machinery, it is a cool place. Great assortment of breads and rolls, some very good - others not so much. They produce a 'ton' of bagels which are okay but definitely not the NYC chewy bagel style you get in bagel shop. The bakery area is a different story. Big selection of muffins, cakes, pies, danish, soda bread, scones, etc. All of which are very good. I recommend checking it out and finding "what's your thing". read more

Not sure what the hype is about. The place itself is amazing, a factory! Racks, shelves, bins full of bread and you can see their bagels moving through a conveyor belt. You can find an unimaginable amount of bread. The smell, amazing! The entire place smells like fresh baked bread. In terms of taste, we thought the quality was mediocre. Does anyone actually work here? I've emailed 3 times and called twice to open a wholesale account and didn't even receive a generic email response email that anything was received. My local restaurant depot said they stopped carrying them because their deliveries are always late/never show up/customer service is terrible. It's a huge bummer cause I really wanted to carry them. read more

Seriously I would give this place a 10/10 if I could. My cousin turned me on to Rockland Bakery when she came over for a family gathering at the end of summer...A month or so later on the way back from another gathering her mom and I went and got some pastries, I bought a Tiramisu cake, a Cheesecake, cheese danish and small Cheesecakes for my nieces. All of them were delicious in every way imaginable! Service is good but don't look for smiles. It is like a direct bakery and it gets crowded! Ambiance is factory direct bakery...Nothing special but not filthy. Though they should serve coffee where you get the cakes. This is one of those situations where I do not care about anything except that this place has yummy stuff! When I move back East, this becomes a regular stop! read more

Very enjoyable but very overwhelming. It seems like everyone has been there a thousand times, so it can be a little confusing the first time with little assistance. I asked some questions to the people in the bread room but they were not too thrilled about helping. I'm happy to go back, especially after tasting the bread, I'm just saying it's confusing the first time. Prices are incredible ! The bread room is incredible!! The Bread is incredible. I was confused about the deli. I wanted to get a cream cheese bagel but it seems like I had to buy the bagel and cream cheese separately and put it on myself. Good breads and pastries and great prices but my gripe with this place is that the bread room is an unorganized mess. Maybe the staff can tell the difference between white bread and sourdough but I can't. They need better LABELS and more of them. The staff in the bread room always seems preoccupied doing anything but helping customers. None of the bagel racks are labelled. Try to figure out if a bagel is plain and a little well done or whole wheat. It's just not worth the hassle. read more

A visit to NY is not complete without visiting Rockland Bakery! Went here on Wednesday November 26th 2025 with my parents during our visit to NY. we found parking, parked, and entered the bakery. sweet smells of pies and pastries filled the air. This time we only went to the front park where they sell pastries. There was a line, but there is so many people working there that the line moves relatively quickly. Person who served us was pleasant. We got a box of dozen donuts, some cookies like rainbow and leaf cookies, and an apple pie. Oh, and we also got 2 almond horns! They also have a senior discount too, in which we used. We paid via a credit card. left with like 3 bags, and went on our merry way. Hope to be back next time we are visiting NY! read more

Serving hot bread and bagels for over 4 decades, this bakery shop is known for picking your own hot bagels and bread just out the oven. If you're in the area definitely stop by and get your dose of bake goods. They also have a wide selection of pastries and a deli location serving sandwiches, hot and cold. The portions are also huge from the looks of it. I will surely be back!! A gem in the area and kids love it too. Go check it out. The Rockland bakery has undergone a refresh and renovation, it looks great! Bright, airy and open. The bakery side is still a bread fantatic's dream, full of golden brown yummy-ness! It is self service and the bread side, on the pastry and baked goods side, you must be served. The loss of stars is for service, not warm, not friendly and not polite from the ladies behind the counter. There was a young man in the bakery that offered assistance, he was polite and professional. This was our second visit and most likely our last. read more

I generally never invoke "best in the world" hyperbole to describe anything, especially since I haven't sampled everything on the planet. However, I find myself almost pulling the trigger on Rockland Bakery where you pull bagels directly from their ovens, filling bags to overflowing with these plump, melt in your mouth morsels. Best in the world? Who knows... but... certainly the best that have ever crossed my lips. Just add some Lox and capers and heaven just became real. Pastry heaven! My sister got us some Pistachio eclair (10/10) and cheesecake! These desserts are not that sweet. Loved how they packed it nicely as well! I always go here before just to try their homemade bread and bagels! The only problem that I always encounter going to this place is that not everyone speaks english, reason why it's hard to explain what we wanted in a cake. TIP: When it's busy at the deli section, just remember to grab a ticket at the deli counter and wait for your number to be called so u can order your food. Im actually disappointed in my experience today at Rockland Bakery deli usually it is very good and the employees are exceptional but today I guess everybody was just off because of the snowstorm and they didn't seem to wanna be there. First of all we were trying to order and the big white guy with tattoos we were speaking to him and he just walked away which was extremely rude. The other nice lady that was working there saw that he walked away as we were talking to him, and she gladly took our order. He was very rude. And if I ever go back. I will gladly ask somebody else to take my order even if I have to wait 10 minutes for somebody else to become available. There is no other bakery like Rockalnd bakery. It is family Owned and so cheap. The cannoli cake is a must. They can add a cookie on top and write a note ex; Happy Birthday Kate! You can walk Into the back and see all of the bagels being made. Their salt bagels are perfect There are lines at times but never longer than a 15 minute wait. They know what they are doing and are so efficient on all ends of the operation. read more

I've been coming here with my family since I was a child. There's something about this place that makes me feel at home. From the indoor deli with fresh and delicious meats and sides, to the bakery full of cakes and pastry's, everything is fresh and delicious and made in house or sourced nearby. Holiday lines move very quickly at the Rockland bakery. Good luck finding a parking spot. The cakes are flying out of this shop- two days before Christmas. This is the first time I've been in the store, and I have found the system to be a well oiled machine with pleasant staff. I went in for a birthday cake and walked out with croissants, donuts, and a cheesecake for the holidays. All of that cost just $45. This place is busy on a Sunday !!! We came in here around 11am and there was a long line. Thankfully there are at least five cashiers helping speed things up. We bought the plain cheesecake and the brittle/cannoli both which were excellent. We also bought a slice of the carrot cake which was just okay, a a slice of the cappuccino cake which was less than okay (dry, not flavored enough like coffee/cappuccino). I'm split between 4 and 5 stars. Huge selection of pastries in the pastry section. Sfogliatelle are only made on weekends and you can otherwise find almost any traditional pastry. The taste of everything I've tried over the years is great. Cannolis, fruit tarts, chocolate mousse, lobster tails, sfogliatelle, elephant ears, Napoleon, cookies, carrot cake, all good. Prices are fairly reasonable and certainly more affordable than some smaller bakeries. The bread section is grab your own and in a back room that newbies might not even realize exists. Just grab some gloves, a bag and walk through those double doors. Bread awaits you. I've tried a lot and it's all good, though I'm not a fan of Irish soda bread in general. Bagels are fine, but do taste generic and machine made. Some other local bagel joints have better quality bagels. Still, price here is better and they're ok. My favorite breads are the walnut raisin, challah, braided Italian, semolina rolls, olive rolls and pretzels. They charge a credit card fee, which is plain annoying. Oh my GOSH! As a bread lover and one who walks into every bakery, I am blown away by this tremendous place. Hubby is in this area at least once a month, and always tells me about it. I'm, like, big deal, but, boy, it sure is!! I was in the area and hubby walked me in. I could have followed my nose. The aroma was intensely beautiful. We bypassed the huge front of this clean and yummy looking pastry part, and went into the back door where there's a whole bread factory! The bagels are coming hot off the conveyer belt and there are just hundreds of baskets of fresh breads and rolls of every imaginable thing you can think of. You take a plastic glove and pick up anything you want into a brown paper bag. When we walked in, the line to pay was soo long. By the time we were ready to pay, we were the only ones. There were 4 cashiers and the knew every price. We walked out with a big brown paper bag filled with bread and rolls and an olive Baguette. With a senior discount (they didn't check), it was less than $20! Keep me away from this place- not really. HIGHLY recommend! No pictures. This place sets a low standard for what a Deli is supposed to be. First time in the place and it felt risky just based on appearance. Poorly lit, cleanliness is obviously not priority. If I wasn't pressed for time I would have left. The guy (biggest guy behind the counter) was feeding himself while making my sandwich, he puts food in his mouth with a gloved hand that he is touching everything else with including my food. Another guy coughed into his gloved hand while working back there and didn't change his glove afterwards. Food: Deli meat had no flavor (lucky I asked for salt & pepper) and how do you get a stale roll at a place where they manufacture them from scratch. I don't get it. The ambience is like going for lunch in the basement of a building. I understand it's a working factory, but the Deli should not reflect that impression. I hope I don't get food poisoning or worse. We were visiting from out of town. Pretty intimidating place no one to show you where you had to go. The bakery itself is so hot. You could only spend a few minutes in it and there is nothing marked like they showed online so it was difficult to find the bagels that we wanted. it is unique and the quality is OK.
