When I got in for the Disneyland Halloween Half Marathon in September 2024, I knew I had to book a reservation to Carnation Café! It's been years since I've had a chance to eat there again! My husband and I decided to book a reservation for 2:30 on a Saturday for lunch. Check-in process was a breeze! We checked in through the Disneyland mobile application and let the team know at the Carnation Café that we were ready. We ended up getting placed in outside seating, overlooking Main Street U.S.A. It was an extremely hot day outside, around 108! It was a heat wave in Anaheim California that week. Luckily, the team members at Carnation Café were constantly filling up our water cups and sodas with plenty of refills! Carnation Café Lunch hours are from 11:30 A.M to 3:55 P.M. Their lunch menu offers a wide range of burgers, sandwiches, salads, and plant-based options! I had to order the Parmesan Toasted Patty Melt. The Patty Melt had Monterey Jack, Grilled Onions on a Toasted Parmesan Sourdough Bread. I opted not to include the house sauce in the Patty Melt. French Fries were served on the side. My husband ended up getting Walt's Chili, which was topped with cheese, sour cream, chives, and a corn bread garnish. The food came out so quick! It was at our table within 15 minutes! Luckily, we got to watch the Mickey and Friends Halloween Cavalcade go down Main Street U.S.A. The performances are typically between 1:45 P.M and 2:45 P.M daily! The Patty Melt was delicious! I couldn't finish it, but luckily my husband was still hungry after the Chili! The burger patty was juicy and so flavorful! The best part about the Patty Melt was the Toasted Parmesan Sourdough bread! The Sourdough was perfect and the toasted parmesan was so scrumptious on the Sourdough bread! I normally get Patty Melt's with Rye Bread and this was such a nice change! Food prices are between $15-$34.99 per adult for their lunch menu. The Carnation Café also offers breakfast and dinner options too! You could also reserve a dining experience around 8:50 and catch the fireworks, and the Main Street U.S.A lights! How: reservations are highly recommend and accessible directly on the Disneyland app. Walk-in's are welcome, but expect a 30-45 minute wait for those without reserved seating. What: we came here for lunch. The interior is reminiscent of a diner and the food are in generous portions. Our waitress was very patient and attentive. Been coming to Disney for 20 plus years. Look I get it it's a park restaurant and famous for its history but the food is horrible. It's bland, comes out so fast you don't get time to enjoy anything. The chili is decent, but you can make it at home. Servers are nice but rush you out. The coffee is watery and not hot. With a limited menu you'd expect much better. Carnation Cafe is an absolute favorite of mine. This was our first time visiting on Thanksgiving. On Thanksgiving day they have a turkey dinner option in lieu of their usual turkey club sandwich. The turkey was so juicy and delicious! The mashed potatoes are always the perfect texture. The green beans were prepared a little differently this time, they had red bell peppers mixed in, and it gave them a nice balance. My daughter ordered the chicken-fried chicken, which is my usual go-to. She loved it, the chicken was also juicy and perfectly fried, it was paired with the same green beans and mashed potatoes. Another Thanksgiving day special was the pumpkin pie, which I am not typically a fan of, but the crust was...different, in a good way. The crust of the pumpkin pie almost reminded me of the old school fried apple pie crust from McDonalds or the current offerings from Popeyes. Very good. Towards the end of our meal, one of the servers spilled a whole tray of ice-cold drinks (Coke, Sprite, water, etc.) on me. Not only was I drenched in cold beverages at night, my belongings got wet, and I had a previous laceration on my finger which I had been careful not to get wet due to doctor's orders that was drenched from this incident. We asked for medical tape (that had gotten wet from being in my pocket), someone said they'd get a first aid kit, but we were just given gauze. After this happened, no servers came up to bring a towel, the server himself didn't come to apologize (only a "sorry bud" in passing 5 minutes later), and it took at least 15 minutes until we asked to see a manager to resolve the situation. I understand that accidents happen, but this was handled very poorly - it shouldn't take 15+ minutes for one of the staff to properly address the situation. After this conversation, our meal was partially compensated (to which we then had to speak up for again ), and a voucher to get a sweatshirt from the store, but it took 5 employees since the voucher seemed to only cover for one item. This whole time, I was shivering from the cold and was asked the story multiple times until it was finally resolved. This added to our frustration, as the issue should have been clearly communicated and handled seamlessly across locations. We were extremely disappointed with the way the incident was handled. In conclusion, I am extremely disappointed, upset, and embarrassed by the entire situation, The issue should have been clearly communicated and handled seamlessly across locations, I should have had a manager come to me within minutes, and I should not have been drenched while enjoying my dinner. 6 of us with 3 adults and 3 children are waiting over an hour long by the host station inside since it was a hot afternoon,of course with small preschoolers they could not sit still. A server named Kathy pushed me and said you are on my way of seating "people's" as if I am not a "person" I am an Asian American and she is African American so not too sure what she meant by but it's very sensitive to my feelings. We were seated quickly, but noticed that all other tables that were seated after us were already getting drinks and orders taken, so we had to flag down the server. The cafe is a cute little spot, we were seated inside but there is also outdoor seating. The food was fine, some parts were better than others. I had the breakfast sandwich on the brioche bun. The bacon on it was delicious, thick and crispy. The egg was a little too much though. It was very thick and tended to be all that you could taste in the sandwich. I enjoyed my iced mocha, it was the perfect start to a busy Disney day. I'd like to come back to try lunch sometime, but I'd probably skip the breakfast. read more

Although it's busy, you still get a homey, old timey vibe inside. Food standouts were the crispy seasoned fries, thick potato soup, and fantastic lemon aioli on the turkey club. To be improved was the slightly undercooked chicken tender in the kids meal and the time it took to get the check after the meal. I am only rating this on the gluten - free breakfast sandwich & potatoes. Yikes the bun - it was harder than a Popeyes Chicken biscuit. I wanted to dip the bun in water but I suffered through it and took one for the team instead of sending it back and walking out. The potatoes were underwhelming. The app initially said 15min, then as I was entering the line it went up to 60min, then back down to 45min and I ended up receiving the time to dine text within 5 minutes and we were seated inside. I would say don't be too discouraged if the walk-up estimated time looks high. The food is on the better quality end for theme park meals and I appreciate the variety of options that they have. We made a reservation about a month in advance. They text you to do an early check in and the process was really easy to do and they won't sit you until your entire party is there. Cast members are very nice and happy here. I wished we would have been sat outside as we were given a very undesirable booth table inside the restaurant. The loud music coming from the cell phone from the man that sat next to my daughter was enough for us to ask to move. The cast member handled it so kindly and moved us to a better spot. The chili did taste like it was straight out of a can, but once you get a bite of the steak pieces it's a game changer. We also got fried pickles and those were great. The turkey club was really good, I liked that the turkey was carved, there was plentiful mayo so the sandwich wasn't dry. I wished that the bacon pieces were more cooked though. One of them seemed raw, but overall the sandwich was great. The fries were also amazing as was their ranch. My daughter really enjoyed the cheeseburger and my sister said the patty melt was amazing. They do take magic key here also. Our waitress was so attentive, was always coming to ask us if we wanted refills and to see how we were doing. She was very appreciated as was the rest of the staff there. This is definitely one of the best restaurants in Disneyland because the menu caters to every one of all ages, the prices are good, and the cast members are great. We made our reservations months before our trip. We tried to go last year when it was closed. So we were super excited to be able to get a reservation this year. we made two actually, one for breakfast and another for a snack/dessert later that day. When we got to the restaurant we checked in on the app, like we had been instructed to the last couple of reservations earlier that week. As we are patiently sitting and waiting people are coming up to the host stand and being seated right away, inside. After about 5 minutes of this we had to interrupt and ask why we weren't being seated. We then were told that we needed to also check in in person. Okay well we've been already waiting. So now we're told to get in the long line behind us. What is the point of a reservation?! He could see I was upset and annoyingly asked me what name our reservation was. Annoyed he walks us outside to be seated. Great so now we have to sit outside. Whatever we think to ourselves. Now that we are seated outside we look over the menu and decide what we want. I also wanted to get an alcoholic drink because hey I'm on vacation. As we are sitting and waiting for someone to come take our drink order, other tables are being sat...and ordering! There were other people coming in after us and being waited on. It was so disappointing, which really is an understatement for how we felt. We had one breakfast and one lunch there during our visit. Breakfast was delicious and fresh with multiple gluten free options and something for each of my other family members. We enjoyed lunch there as well the next day. For lunch I had a tasty burger with a gf bun and a side of fresh vegetables, since there is not a dedicated fryer. My server went through the menu options and my allergies with the chef and took very good care of me.
