    Beef short rib!

Main Street at Disneyland is beloved for its nostalgic charm, emporiums, quaint shops and detailed architecture. It is the gateway to the magic world of Disney! During our visit we made reservations at Carnation Cafe. They serve up some of the best American comfort food at Disneyland Resort- beef short rib, fried pickles, wedge salads, and my personal favorite, baked potato soup! Service is exceptional. And the staff were friendly and amicable. The atmosphere is charming and nostalgic, with outdoor seating on Main Street. Prices are relatively high compared to other dining options. But overall, we had an amazing dining experience!

A great option for one of your meals while here at Disneyland! Our waitress Danielle went above and beyond for our duel birthday celebration. Thank you to the whole staff for making our meal special!

Carnation Cafe is always a go-to for us and has become a family tradition. I've been coming here since I was a baby, and now I get to bring my preteen, which makes it even more special. Her absolute "must-have" every visit is the fried chicken dish. The chicken is always perfectly cooked, and the mashed potatoes with gravy are amazing. The green beans are consistently good, and we always enjoy the side of breadsticks as well. This time we also tried the Oreo cake for dessert and it was delicious! The ambiance is always wonderful, and the service has consistently been great. It's one of those classic Disneyland spots that keeps us coming back every visit.

I finally got the chance to have food here. Despite that it was a rainy day and we couldn't sit outside, we ate inside the section where they sell ice cream. We were seated and given menus but they have a select amount of dishes. I knew immediately that I wanted to try Walt's Chili. It was really good, with breadcrumbs on top, cheese, sour cream and chives. I got the toasted Parmesan patty melt, with beef patty, Monterrey jack cheese, grilled onions, house sauce on sourdough bread. It was by far the best patty melt I've ever had in my whole life. Every bite was incredible. It will be quite difficult to match that. The turkey club sandwich was my partner's choice with bacon, tomato, cheese, lettuce, mayonnaise and lemon aioli on sourdough. She's not crazy about bacon but it was damn good to munch on. She enjoyed her sandwich and of course the fries were really really good. The service was great, they looked after us at any moment that we needed them. In your first visit to Disneyland I would highly recommend you make reservations to come here.

Ate here a few months ago. Made a reservation in advance for 4 people. It was super crowded inside checking in with the hostess and we were seated a little bit later than our reservation. Service was great otherwise. We were seated outside in their cramped outside area. The food was just okay. I did really like the Walt's chili with the nice touch of fried cornbread batter on top. My husband enjoyed his patty melt but said the seasoned fries were the best part of it. I ordered the beef stroganoff which they no longer have on their menu. If they ever do bring it back, don't get it. It was flavorless and salty all at once and the noodles were overcooked.

The first time I went to the Carnation Cafe, I did the virtual waitlist for dinner. I was a couple minutes late because of parade traffic but luckily, I still got a table. People that came after me were not so lucky. The second time I tried to go, the park was packed and there was no way of getting in, so I made a reservation about 3 weeks in advance. I was really excited because I always wanted a Mickey waffle. I went with my friend and she was surprised that the breakfast prices (for food and coffee) were reasonable. The waffle was good but it's an average waffle. The bacon was fantastic. My friend enjoyed her breakfast sandwich which I would want to try next time.

Another Disney dining experience in the books and I gotta say, Carnation Cafe was... just okay? I know this is probably blasphemy to some Disney lovers but I didn't get much whimsy here and the theming wasn't as much fun as some of the other dining spots. It's also pretty crammed in here. Idk, I just didn't get much of that Disney magic I'm looking for. Our main reason for stopping by on New Years Day was to get the holiday special platter before the holidays were officially over. We succeeded and this plate was rather tasty! This is why I offer four stars. While Disney has definitely upped their food game in recent years, it can be hard to say that some of these sit down dining experiences have culinary offerings that are truly worth the price. I think Carnation Cafe is pretty solid when it comes to that. The plate was around $30 if I recall but it came with a delicious cut of meat, cheesy mashed potatoes, green beans, and a dinner roll. It was definitely filling and warming after a cold and rainy morning in the park. Service was excellent as well, which is standard at Disney but always much appreciated.

Disneyland on a Saturday night, you had better have made reservations ahead of time! We chose the Carnation Cafe over a week before we arrived. The food is always consistent and they have great soup and chili! The staff is always nice and the restaurant is always clean. The food was amazing and the prices were somewhat reasonable. As always, the baked potato soup and Walt's chili were both very good! The fried pickle spears are tart and always tasty. The Holiday Special had the most tender NY Medallions of beef, accompanied by mashed potatoes and fresh green beans! A great way to fuel up to make it to the fireworks and later!

Gazebo seating! Best seat in the house!

Carnation Cafe on Main Street, USA Disneyland is a must when visiting. I don't get into the parks as often as I used to, but when I do - I NEED fried pickles! The classic and nostalgic vibes are infectious. It helps for a memorable visit. We don't always get the best seat in the house, but fortunately we were sat at the outdoor gazebo table on one of our last trips. I always order 2 baskets of fried pickles with extra sauce to share with my family and friends. Albeit, I eat a full basket of 5 mouth watering pickles all by myself. (They are the main reason I make sure to have reservations set ahead of time.) I most always order the vegan burger with fries as my meal. Water with lemon to leave room for all the yummy food. The vegan burger has excellent flavor and a super soft bun; however, the veggie patty does fall apart easily. That doesn't stop me from eating it and enjoying it with the tasty fries. You can order with fruit instead, but I love potatoes. The hubby tries the different starters and dishes and feels indifferent about Disney food; however, makes up for it with yummy drinks. My niece surprised me and enjoyed 2 orders of the kids chicken tenders with fruit. The service is always exceptional and welcoming. Plan ahead and make lunch reservations for your next visit.

Went to Carnation Cafe for lunch yesterday, not very impressed. We got seated and sat for 10 minutes before the server came by. We ordered fried pickles, loaded potato soup, chicken fried chicken, and patty melt sandwich. So, the fried pickles were really good, fresh and hot. The loaded potato soup was good, but there was a huge scoop of bacon bits on the top, way too much. The chicken fried chicken was ok, kind of dry. The patty melt was good. So in a nutshell, the food was ok, the service was slow. The server even dropped a dinner plate on my shoulder, which fell to the ground. No apology at all, but I'm not hurt.

Always dependable, always great food. Limited menu, but good for a burger or a sandwich always. Quick service for a sit down and on the casual side. Very easy to do a walk in on the same day!

We've always made sure to stop at Carnation Cafe for lunch every time we've been a Disneyland over the years. It's nice to be able to sit out and watch people go by while having a full service experience. I love the turn of the century decor with red and white stripes awnings. There is, of course, the outdoor seating area, but there is a dining room inside that also has turn of the century decor. The food here's pretty good. They've got a couple of salads, a really great parmesan grills Patty melts, and other seasonal favorites. This time I had the beef medallions with whipped potatoes and green beans. It was really, really good! Hope you have the chicken fried chicken which came with with potatoes and green beans. You said it was delicious, but both of us thought the portion size was pretty small. Sun had the patty melt with fries. The fries here are phenomenal! There the super crispy season 5. I think there's some kind of a batter that they dip them in but I'm not sure. What I am sure of is that they are so good. As with all other full service restaurants at disneyland, make a reservation. It will save you a lot of grief and they are very, very good about getting you right in at your reservation time.

Ask the Community - Carnation Cafe

What cooking oil does the Carnation Cafe use? I'm allergic to seed oils so it's vitally important what oil is used on the food.

It is best to ask them there to make sure. When booking a dining reservation there is also a place to enter any allergies online. Wherever we've gone they always confirm at check-in as well as at the table.

    Will they take walk up?

They may! It just depends on how many reservations have been made/cancelled. I've found that most days, especially later in the evening, there are openings.

Are you able to ask for your meat cooked a specific way? I like my burgers well done and see theirs don't look that way.

They ask how you want it cooked so I'd imagine you can let them know you want it well done.

Does this location offer ranch dressing?

    Yes I believe.

How are they with food intolerances? Will they delete or remove a specific topping or condiment? Do they do substitutions? Thank you.

Hello, yes they are very good with food intolerances. If needed they do offer to remove any specific condiments with substitutions.

    Did they stop serving dinner?

Nope. They still serve dinner. Ever since COVID they don't serve as full a menu as they did before but they do have a lunch and dinner service. It's the same menu for both. Breakfast is a whole different menu.

I have breakfast reservation at 10:50 AM but it is closed to lunch time also. Am I allowed to order off the lunch menu as well?

Usually Disney is very accommodating. Just let your server know that's what you'd like to do. They may not be able to put in the lunch order until 11 or 11:30 or whatever the lunch time is, but they will do whatever they can to help out.

Do they have gluten free options?

    Yes :)

Can you watch the parade while you dine?

Probably not. Depends where you are seated. But you need to be outside to enjoy the parade. We were with in "kissing" distance from the characters and it was awesome. Sitting inside of a restaurant will not give the same enjoyment.

Is the fried chicken same as the one in the plaza inn?

I honestly don't think so I've had both and both taste completely different

Are reservations recommended ? Or is it easy to get a table (Friday night)?

Reservations are recommended it gets super busy especially on a Friday night

Is their breakfast menu all day?

Breakfast is serve from 8 to 11 am. Highly recommend to make reservations prior to get in to the restaurant. They won't take you unless you have a reservation.

Can you use a Disney gift card here?

    Yes

    When is brunch over?

Breakfast is from 8am-11:30am and lunch is from 11:30am-3:30pm

Did they bring back the chicken apple sausage for breakfast?

Nope just the regular one. Side order comes with 2 pieces FYI

What other better place to celebrate our friend reunion at a place called "Reunion"? ;)…read more We were looking for a good brunch place to try out and found this place near Corona. Parking: I had no problem finding parking spot as the lot is huge and shared with many other businesses. Interior: We were seated right away without any wait time as we arrived when they just opened. We were seated in a dark area of the restaurant (think bar vibe) so I was a little not sure at first. Most brunch places I went to were always filled with sunlight and bright colorful interiors. This place embraced a classic, quiet feel, something like a Steak House would have. Service: Our server's name was Susan I believe, who was nice and attentive through the whole meal, despite the crowd slowly built up and filled the restaurant. She never failed to check back on us, not just once but twice and refilled our water. She probably isn't as familiar with the brunch menu favorites but seem to know more about the Main menu. The General Manager came out and greeted us because most of their customers are regulars and it's uncommon to have first timers like us visiting. This nice hospitality made us feel very warmly welcomed and impressed. Food: I couldn't decide whether to go with the Slow braised beef on the brunch menu (braised beef benedict) or the main menu but ended up going with the Main menu to get a good portion size. It was a perfect choice because the beef is just amazing. It was cooked to a soft perfection, well seasoned, the roasted vegetable was also cooked just right and not super raw/ crunchy like other places. Then the star of the show arrived - the butter cake. As Susan suggested, this is their most popular dessert and I can see why. The butter cake comes piping hot with the ice cream on top. There's a nice sugar crunchy feel near the bottom of the cake. It's so delicious that I want to come back just to eat this cake. We had a great time overall and would love to come back.

It has this dark but classy aesthetic and I was not prepared for that (in a good way). This restaurant has been here for about 2 years with different ownership and menu so I was excited to see what they had to offer. Hugo helped us with our order and he was very friendly and professional. We went ahead and ordered the ahi tuna taco, pork belly bao, garlic fries, the margharita pizza, the yuzu lobster pasta, and for drinks I got the virgin burning thyme. My friend got that and other drinks as well. Ahi tuna taco - 5/5 probably the best food item for the evening. The tuna was fresh, perfect amount of kick in its sauce, and the outter shell was perfectly crunchy. I think them replacing the shell with wonton was exceptional with the texture. Every bite was extremely satisfying. Pork Belly bao - 4/5 everything was delicious. The bow itself is bouncy and moist. There wasn't anything special about the sauce inside with the pork belly, but I would definitely give it a try at least once. A great portion with your friends or family as an appetizer. Garlic fries - 3/5 It was a bit underwhelming, but nothing horrible. I could not taste the garlic at all, but the fries itself was cooked to perfection with the outer being pretty crispy and inside being soft. Margharita pizza - 4/5 I really like the crust and the breading of this pizza. It was crispy and the pepperoni was cooked to perfection. I really like the small pepperoni because it gives an immense amount of flavor in each bite. The cheese and the tomato sauce was fine, but nothing special. Yuzu lobster pasta - 4/5 I wish I was able to taste more of the Yuzu since that's in the name of the dish, but I could not. If it was just called the lobster pasta I would say it's amazing. The tomatoes were perfect to lighten the entire dish with the heavy sauce and the pasta. The lobster was cooked fine. Other than that it was fine, but I would say either enhance the Yuzu flavor or remove it in the name of the dish. Burning thyme - 4.5/5 I really like the acid and the balance of sweetness and sour in this drink. Usually, I get skeptical when I make an alcoholic drink version because the bartender tends to over sweeten the drink, but this was not the case, and I enjoyed it a lot with our food.

The tasting featured a great lineup of green and yellow Chartreuse paired with small bites. It concluded with a complementary Chartreuse-based cocktail from one of five recipes. Brand ambassador Taylor guided the event and began by telling us about the unique history of Chartreuse. The tasting started out with a small spoonful of Vegetal Elixir Chartreuse to warm up the palate. This is the base spirit of both green and yellow Chartreuse and clocks in at 138 proof. It was surprisingly not harsh, but immediately kicked my salivary glands into overdrive. I didn't even know that vintages of Chartreuse was a thing, but Taylor walked us through tasting three different vintages of both yellow and green Chartreuse, and it was surprising how different they were. The lineup concluded with more rare varietals of the green elixir 1605 and yellow cuvee. Great job, thanks Taylor! Chef Kling presented each small bite which included a crispy Icelandic cod, a roasted beet crostino, and a lamb slider. All of them had a five star list of ingredients and were delicious. Strong Water is known for their excellent cocktails, but their food is also great. For my cocktail at the end of the event, I had the Bar Flower (Green Chartreuse, Crème de Cacao, Pineapple, Lime). This was so good, with the herbal and chocolate flavors perfectly balanced. It was served with a flaming lime half. This was such a great event! Chartreuse retails for around $100 a bottle, and the higher-end varieties cost even more. At just $45 per person, this event was an amazing bargain. Strong Water frequently hosts great events, so keep an eye on their social media for upcoming dates. I really love Chartreuse, so I went back a few days later on the last day of Chartreuse week to try a few of the other limited time cocktails. I started out with their twist on a Grasshopper (Chartreuse, Crème de Menthe, Chili Liqueur, Crème de Cacao, Cream, Cane, $22). This was a great classic Grasshopper, but the Chartreuse added a herbal complexity, and there is a dash of heat on the finish from the chili liqueur. Next I had the Flare Gun (Yellow Chartreuse, Overproof Rum, Italian Bitter, Lime, Cane, $20). The yellow Chartreuse definitely comes through, but it's softer and has a light sweetness, unlike the green variety. Even though it contains overproof rum, it is perfectly balanced and not boozy at all. I usually don't like bitter drinks, but the bitterness was at a perfect light level. I finished off with the Tales from the Black Lagoon which is my favorite drink here, and it's also a favorite of many of the bartenders. All three cocktails were a home run. Chartreuse is an expensive spirit, so those drinks cost a little more than average. Shout out to Karen, Joey, Edgar, Jordan, and Ying for excellent hospitality, as always. Strong Water is our favorite place. We can't wait to go back!
