Roped dropped Carnation cafe! Meet with the host who sat us instantly I was dressed as nick wilde and a cast member gave me a bunch of honorary citizen pins! Really made my day! Started off with cold brew and ice cream the only place I know where you can have your coffee ice cream for breakfast! Had to celebrate d23 with the iconic Mickey waffle which tastes like an eggo waffle iconic! Got the breakfast sandwich just wish the bacon was a sausage patty but still delicious! Love the interior and how cute the decor is perfect sit down date spot!
Popular restaurant at disney with a long wait time from its popularity. It's in a very busy shopping and food area so I get why the bustling atmosphere. The staff are super nice and attentive. There's indoor and outdoor seating. I got the carnation burger with fries and thought it was alright. I liked how big the fries were and how much potato it came with. Overall a solid and basic meal in terms of flavor and everything.
It had been a while since I'd eaten at Carnation Cafe, so I was pleasantly surprised to find an updated menu waiting for me. I decided to try the spicy chicken sandwich, and it was excellent. It had just enough heat to make things interesting without turning lunch into a personal endurance challenge, with a really nice flavor overall and just a slightly vinegary bite. And of course, a visit wouldn't feel complete without the fried pickles, which were as delicious and dangerously easy to keep eating as ever. Carnation Cafe remains such a charming little spot to slow down in the middle of a busy Disneyland day, and this visit reminded me that I shouldn't wait so long before coming back.
Been wanting to try this place for years! We made a reservation for Saturday morning, but there were actually still a good amount of seat open. It's still a popular place, but I wouldn't say it's too hard to get reservations or seating. We ordered several mickey waffles, a breakfast skillet, and the chili cheese omelet. The menu was very sticky so it felt kinda gross to touch it lol. First impressions on breakfast, portions are very small. I mainly had the mickey waffle and that was very disappointing lol, I would say even below average than making a waffle at home. Sausages were also pretty whatever. I tried a bit of the skillet and that was also pretty standard. Didn't get to try the chili cheese omelet, but that one actually looked more worth it. Overall, I think people mainly come here for the cute mickey waffle picture, but you are not missing out on much for getting this. I wished they at least add some fruit to it bc it was bland af (even with syrup/butter). Would skip this place next time lol. It's a cute restaurant though.
Still a good option for reserved seated dining at Disneyland. With its location on Main Street, the outdoor seating is great. The food is solid and comfort American classics that will appeal to all. They also serve alcohol here which is one of the few restaurants in Disneyland that do - wine, beer, champagne, and cocktails ( an old fashioned and rum punch) but you can only drink it at the restaurant. Anyway, back to the food. The fried pickles looked really good but having already ate two regular pickles while walking around the park, I passed. However, I did see a lot of tables with them so seems like a good choice. Walt's Chili was hearty and pretty filling. The turkey bacon club was loaded with turkey and good bacon. Sandwich tasted fresh and I enjoyed both the avocado mayo and lemon aioli - great dipping sauces for those fries. The Parmesan toasted patty melt is also a solid pick. Drank some champagne and watched the day parade from our table. Life is good at the mouse house!
When planning my day at DLR, I only made sit-down dinner reservations as I usually grab something quick for breakfast when hitting the parks. However, this was my first time here so we made the impromptu decision to attempt a sit-down restaurant. Carnation Cafe was staring us in the face, and we were fortunate that the wait for a table was only about 10 minutes. That being said, we decided to grab breakfast here. CC has a long history at DL. The eatery is technically an opening-day business along with the park back in 1955. It started as an ice cream parlor, but over the years has evolved into the restaurant it is today. The location is prime - right on Main Street USA with a plethora of outdoor seating that is prime for parade viewing and people watching. The interior isn't as charming, but luckily we were seated in the former. The overall aesthetics match that of its surroundings, and each table is adorned with a red carnation which I thought was a nice touch. The menu contains mostly classic American dishes, with touches of Southwest influence. A lovely day, my first time in DL, on Main St USA - the setting was too perfect NOT to have a Mickey Waffle so I went with that. The waffle was good - it came with the standard butter and syrup, as well as my choice of protein side (I got bacon). My only issue was with the syrup - it had weird consistency, very stringy? I doubt it was real maple syrup, so that's likely the reason why it was off. Besides that, it was a delightful breakfast. Service was great - the Cast Members were friendly, and I appreciated them being able to squeeze us in. Overall, I had a good experience at Carnation Cafe; while food was good, I wouldn't say it's the primary reason to come here. The food, in combination with the history and prime location make this a destination-worthy restaurant in Disneyland Park.
A great place to rest after a long day of walking! The fried pickles were so good. The portions were huge! We definitely should have shared. The restaurant was very retro feeling. The service was good too!
I really wanted to like the Mickey waffle, but it was hard, dry and bland. It came with 2 bacon strips that were cooked nicely but also bland. I get the novelty of it, but for $18, it was a disappointing meal. My partner got the breakfast sandwich which was also underwhelming but more worth it as a standalone meal than the waffle. I agree with another Yelper that there should be berries and whip included. Service was fine but I had asked for sausage with the waffle and got bacon instead
We had an awesome experience at Carnation Cafe. The food was mid, at best, but the service and the ambiance earned those stars back. Kudos to Scott & Maggie!
I finally got the chance to have food here. Despite that it was a rainy day and we couldn't sit outside, we ate inside the section where they sell ice cream. We were seated and given menus but they have a select amount of dishes. I knew immediately that I wanted to try Walt's Chili. It was really good, with breadcrumbs on top, cheese, sour cream and chives. I got the toasted Parmesan patty melt, with beef patty, Monterrey jack cheese, grilled onions, house sauce on sourdough bread. It was by far the best patty melt I've ever had in my whole life. Every bite was incredible. It will be quite difficult to match that. The turkey club sandwich was my partner's choice with bacon, tomato, cheese, lettuce, mayonnaise and lemon aioli on sourdough. She's not crazy about bacon but it was damn good to munch on. She enjoyed her sandwich and of course the fries were really really good. The service was great, they looked after us at any moment that we needed them. In your first visit to Disneyland I would highly recommend you make reservations to come here.
It's easy to pick apart Dland food. Some is horrible and some good and some really pretty tasty. The carnation cafe can be hit or miss but today it was darn tasty. We had reservations and were sat outside in about five minutes. The menu is very limited but does offer just enough most people could find something they like. We both had the turkey club sandwich. They were tasty and all the parts of the sandwich were fresh and filled with flavor. The fries were good, too. We had the fried pickles to start and the we're also really good. Overall not complaint and in fact one of the service teams really made the day. Dave was ao polite and well spoken it as like a breath of fresh air. He's a keeper.
Main Street at Disneyland is beloved for its nostalgic charm, emporiums, quaint shops and detailed architecture. It is the gateway to the magic world of Disney! During our visit we made reservations at Carnation Cafe. They serve up some of the best American comfort food at Disneyland Resort- beef short rib, fried pickles, wedge salads, and my personal favorite, baked potato soup! Service is exceptional. And the staff were friendly and amicable. The atmosphere is charming and nostalgic, with outdoor seating on Main Street. Prices are relatively high compared to other dining options. But overall, we had an amazing dining experience!
Carnation Cafe is always a go-to for us and has become a family tradition. I've been coming here since I was a baby, and now I get to bring my preteen, which makes it even more special. Her absolute "must-have" every visit is the fried chicken dish. The chicken is always perfectly cooked, and the mashed potatoes with gravy are amazing. The green beans are consistently good, and we always enjoy the side of breadsticks as well. This time we also tried the Oreo cake for dessert and it was delicious! The ambiance is always wonderful, and the service has consistently been great. It's one of those classic Disneyland spots that keeps us coming back every visit.
Stopped here for a drink during a fun day at Disneyland. I remember "back in the day" when there was no alcohol allowed at the park, so it's nice to have the opportunity to have a fun drink. This Caramel Apple Martini was part of their seasonal Signature Cocktail menu -- it was a little on the sweet side, but still tasty. One thing to note is that you must consume the beverage in the Cafe -- cannot walk around the park. read more

Carnation Café at Disneyland had really good food. I ordered the salad with the green goddess dressing and the potato soup, and both were fresh and flavorful. The dressing especially stood out--it had that classic creamy herb flavor that worked perfectly with the salad. The only downside was the view from our table. We could clearly see staff cleaning equipment and supplies in plain sight, which felt a little un-Disney. One of the things Disneyland usually does so well is keeping the "behind the scenes" stuff hidden to preserve the magic. Overall the food was great, but the atmosphere lost a bit of the Disney immersion because of that. read more
Ate here a few months ago. Made a reservation in advance for 4 people. It was super crowded inside checking in with the hostess and we were seated a little bit later than our reservation. Service was great otherwise. We were seated outside in their cramped outside area. The food was just okay. I did really like the Walt's chili with the nice touch of fried cornbread batter on top. My husband enjoyed his patty melt but said the seasoned fries were the best part of it. I ordered the beef stroganoff which they no longer have on their menu. If they ever do bring it back, don't get it. It was flavorless and salty all at once and the noodles were overcooked. read more

The first time I went to the Carnation Cafe, I did the virtual waitlist for dinner. I was a couple minutes late because of parade traffic but luckily, I still got a table. People that came after me were not so lucky. The second time I tried to go, the park was packed and there was no way of getting in, so I made a reservation about 3 weeks in advance. I was really excited because I always wanted a Mickey waffle. I went with my friend and she was surprised that the breakfast prices (for food and coffee) were reasonable. The waffle was good but it's an average waffle. The bacon was fantastic. My friend enjoyed her breakfast sandwich which I would want to try next time. read more
Disneyland on a Saturday night, you had better have made reservations ahead of time! We chose the Carnation Cafe over a week before we arrived. The food is always consistent and they have great soup and chili! The staff is always nice and the restaurant is always clean. The food was amazing and the prices were somewhat reasonable. As always, the baked potato soup and Walt's chili were both very good! The fried pickle spears are tart and always tasty. The Holiday Special had the most tender NY Medallions of beef, accompanied by mashed potatoes and fresh green beans! A great way to fuel up to make it to the fireworks and later! read more

Another Disney dining experience in the books and I gotta say, Carnation Cafe was... just okay? I know this is probably blasphemy to some Disney lovers but I didn't get much whimsy here and the theming wasn't as much fun as some of the other dining spots. It's also pretty crammed in here. Idk, I just didn't get much of that Disney magic I'm looking for. Our main reason for stopping by on New Years Day was to get the holiday special platter before the holidays were officially over. We succeeded and this plate was rather tasty! This is why I offer four stars. While Disney has definitely upped their food game in recent years, it can be hard to say that some of these sit down dining experiences have culinary offerings that are truly worth the price. I think Carnation Cafe is pretty solid when it comes to that. The plate was around $30 if I recall but it came with a delicious cut of meat, cheesy mashed potatoes, green beans, and a dinner roll. It was definitely filling and warming after a cold and rainy morning in the park. Service was excellent as well, which is standard at Disney but always much appreciated. read more

We made breakfast reservations here and got seated a few minutes after we arrived. We were seated out on the patio and it was pretty busy. Our server came over and took our drink orders as we seat down and not too long after, he took our food orders. I ordered the breakfast skillet and it was $20. The skillet was not my favorite as it was nothing special. It had no flavor and was very bland. We looked for our server several times to ask for some hot sauce or condiments and he did not come around. Once we were done, he finally came over and brought us our bill. I wasn't a big fan of this place for breakfast as the selection was small and my skillet was bland. I'm hoping that the lunch and dinner menu are a lot better so I might be back to give that a try. The people watching here is great though! Our table was right along the stroller parking area and so we had a great view of Main street. read more
Went to Carnation Cafe for lunch yesterday, not very impressed. We got seated and sat for 10 minutes before the server came by. We ordered fried pickles, loaded potato soup, chicken fried chicken, and patty melt sandwich. So, the fried pickles were really good, fresh and hot. The loaded potato soup was good, but there was a huge scoop of bacon bits on the top, way too much. The chicken fried chicken was ok, kind of dry. The patty melt was good. So in a nutshell, the food was ok, the service was slow. The server even dropped a dinner plate on my shoulder, which fell to the ground. No apology at all, but I'm not hurt. read more

So we came here twice. Once for dinner and once for breakfast. I will rate them separately Breakfast 4/5 Walt chili omelette 4.5/5 - I love this so much. The potatoes are perfectly cooked and combined with the fluffy egg and chili they are work so well. Pancake with apple compote and side of meat 4/5 - kid enjoyed it finished the whole thing Breakfast sandwich 4/5 - the other kid also enjoyed it and cleaned up the plate. Dinner 3.5/5 Market fish (salmon) 3.5/5 - kid did not enjoy the pea puree but the salmon was well cooked and seasoned Turkey Club 3/5 pretty standard Fries that comes with BLT 4/5 Chicken fried chicken 3.5/5 (green bean was bland need more seasoning) Fried pickles 4/5 - can't come here without getting fried pickles If it wasn't for the pickles I would have just come for breakfast read more
We've always made sure to stop at Carnation Cafe for lunch every time we've been a Disneyland over the years. It's nice to be able to sit out and watch people go by while having a full service experience. I love the turn of the century decor with red and white stripes awnings. There is, of course, the outdoor seating area, but there is a dining room inside that also has turn of the century decor. The food here's pretty good. They've got a couple of salads, a really great parmesan grills Patty melts, and other seasonal favorites. This time I had the beef medallions with whipped potatoes and green beans. It was really, really good! Hope you have the chicken fried chicken which came with with potatoes and green beans. You said it was delicious, but both of us thought the portion size was pretty small. Sun had the patty melt with fries. The fries here are phenomenal! There the super crispy season 5. I think there's some kind of a batter that they dip them in but I'm not sure. What I am sure of is that they are so good. As with all other full service restaurants at disneyland, make a reservation. It will save you a lot of grief and they are very, very good about getting you right in at your reservation time. read more
We came here with friends after a long day at Disneyland and California Adventure Park. Compared to other restaurants like Cathay Circle and the Blue Bayou, it is relatively affordable. After reading the menu, I was really excited to order the Beef Stroganoff on a chilly evening, only to find out it was sold out. Bummer! I settled for the cheeseburger, lettuce-wrapped (not pictured here). It was about as good as you would expect burgers to be at a theme park. And more than one person felt their patty cheese melt was not up to par. The chili and potato soup did received favorable reviews. What did stand out as a memorable experience was sitting outside under the lights and being able to exit the terrace right on to Main Street, when the snow and light show turned on. I definitely recommend sitting outside. Collectively, our table of friends all agreed that a rating of 3 stars is a fair review of this restaurant. read more
The appetizers are the stars of the show here with both the chilli and potato soup hitting the right spots on a cool night. The mains are your typical burgers served in different ways, but if there is still portions available, definitely go for the beef stroganoff. Service, like the rest of Disneyland restaurants is impeccable with prompt and courteous service throughout the meal. So what's the real reason for coming? It's to see Main Street transform into a beautiful sea of lights at dusk. Well worth it. read more

A consistently great spot in Disneyland. This restaurant is a gem inside Disneyland and truly never disappoints. We stopped in for a much-needed break and were ready for a relaxing sit-down lunch. Everyone in our group was hungry and excited to dive into the menu. We ordered the club sandwich and the wedge salad. The sandwich was fresh and flavorful -- everything about it was spot on. But the real standout for me was the wedge salad. It came with a generous portion of delicious toppings, the blue cheese was perfectly balanced, and the bacon was nice and crispy. Every bite hit the mark. If you're looking for a solid dining option in the park, this place should definitely be on your list. Great food, great portions, and reliably good every time we visit Disneyland. read more

Last week, my Disney buddy and I had lunch here. Surprisingly, it was both our first time eating at this restaurant. We decided to do a walk-in and we were told to do a reservation via the app. Estimated wait time was 55 mins but our actual wait was only 20 mins. Thank goodness we were able to wait inside as it was starting to warm up outside. All the workers did a superb job. One of the servers was so nice when she gave us our water refills as she refilled my friend's reusable bottle. That was a first! Then, one of our food runners was so sweet. We asked for a side of ranch. He asked how many and we said 2. He brought 3 because he wanted us to taste test the 2 kinds of ranch plus he brought them out in a shape of Mickey. The food was delicious! My friend and I shared and it was more than enough. Will definitely come back here again and try the other menu items. I've seen and heard how this place is so good and we agree. read more
To put it bluntly, this is not a restaurant worth the wait for. It has a nice-cute aesthetic. Though the food was nice to look at, the taste and textures were a big no. Not only do the flavors not stand out, but neither do the prices or service at this location. We all sent our dishes back due to them being undercooked or cold. Second time around the food came back warm and cooked better. Not much to say about carnation cafe. read more

Not going to lie my face melted a bit (pun intended) when the host grabbed the menus and started to walk us outside. I thought reservations meant inside. No, for my second time at this restaurant I'd be eating outside. The last time I ate here was with my grandpa who is no longer with us. The pros of eating on the patio are that the parade marches right past and there were ropes set up in front no one can stand or sit there blocking the view . I mean you do have to look past other patrons , but it's a pretty chill location. I saw all of the characters clearly from my table seat. Now the food. I ordered a turkey club sandwich with fruit on the side . The club came with an avocado sauce . I thought the avocado was light . The waiter brought me a little extra sauce .The sandwich was tasty. The tomato was thick cut. The fruit cup was larger than most. I did get to try a fry or two and they were nice and crispy. Carnation Cafe on Main Street is the perfect Disneyland breakfast spot! I went with the kids Mickey waffles,fluffy waffles, apple smoked bacon, and perfectly seasoned potatoes, and paired it with a strawberry mimosa made with Chandon sparkling wine in the cutest coupe glass. First time dining at Disneyland's Carnation Cafe and this was an excellent choice. We had a reservation for dinner that somehow we confused for a lunch reservation. The Hostess Alejandra worked some magic and managed to seat us for lunch. We ordered Beef Stroganoff ($26) and Chicken Fried Chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans ($22). The Beef Stroganoff was really really flavorful and had Pearl onions and mushrooms. I can only hope to make this dish half as good at home. The Chicken Fried Chicken was one smaller (but plenty) chicken breast with a nice cream gravy. The green beans were quite tasty too. Our server was Valerie and she was friendly and welcoming and as attentive as we wanted/needed. This restaurant has both outdoor and more comfortable indoor seating. What cooking oil does the Carnation Cafe use? I'm allergic to seed oils so it's vitally important what oil is used on the food.
It is best to ask them there to make sure. When booking a dining reservation there is also a place to enter any allergies online. Wherever we've gone they always confirm at check-in as well as at the table.
Will they take walk up?
They may! It just depends on how many reservations have been made/cancelled. I've found that most days, especially later in the evening, there are openings.
Are you able to ask for your meat cooked a specific way? I like my burgers well done and see theirs don't look that way.
They ask how you want it cooked so I'd imagine you can let them know you want it well done.
How are they with food intolerances? Will they delete or remove a specific topping or condiment? Do they do substitutions? Thank you.
Hello, yes they are very good with food intolerances. If needed they do offer to remove any specific condiments with substitutions.
Did they stop serving dinner?
Nope. They still serve dinner. Ever since COVID they don't serve as full a menu as they did before but they do have a lunch and dinner service. It's the same menu for both. Breakfast is a whole different menu.
I have breakfast reservation at 10:50 AM but it is closed to lunch time also. Am I allowed to order off the lunch menu as well?
Usually Disney is very accommodating. Just let your server know that's what you'd like to do. They may not be able to put in the lunch order until 11 or 11:30 or whatever the lunch time is, but they will do whatever they can to help out.
Can you watch the parade while you dine?
Probably not. Depends where you are seated. But you need to be outside to enjoy the parade. We were with in "kissing" distance from the characters and it was awesome. Sitting inside of a restaurant will not give the same enjoyment.
Is the fried chicken same as the one in the plaza inn?
I honestly don't think so I've had both and both taste completely different
Are reservations recommended ? Or is it easy to get a table (Friday night)?
Reservations are recommended it gets super busy especially on a Friday night
Is their breakfast menu all day?
Breakfast is serve from 8 to 11 am. Highly recommend to make reservations prior to get in to the restaurant. They won't take you unless you have a reservation.
When is brunch over?
Breakfast is from 8am-11:30am and lunch is from 11:30am-3:30pm
Did they bring back the chicken apple sausage for breakfast?
Nope just the regular one. Side order comes with 2 pieces FYI
