An absolute 10/10 experience! I'm still dreaming of the food I ate while visiting Carmine's recently. It's a cute restaurant in the heart of downtown with chandeliers and natural lighting. We were greeted immediately and service was great throughout. Each day, they offer specials in addition to an already robust menu. I ordered the stuffed gnocchi in mushroom sauce and it was sooo good! Like nothing I've ever tried before. The lobster pasta special was also incredible. Not too rich and so flavorful. I recommend getting dessert too, lots of options with something for everyone. I can't wait to come back soon!

Despite the pretty location, the service quality IS terrible. Front of house really made this such a bad experience. Not only were we moved because the "light" wasn't right when we were already at the left side of the restaurant hidden from sight, but it also felt as if there is a certain look they were going for when we were there despite a reservation and WE didn't fit that narrative. If the food was good, maybe I could've looked past it but even the food was MEDIOCRE.

I came here for my anniversary and I had an amazing dinner. On a busy Friday night with a reservation I got seated 10mins after checking in. They did immediately offer coat check which was very kind. The first thing I noticed was the sign out front & then the 6 beautiful chandeliers in the main room. I made my reservation a bit late so I got a table in the bar in the back room. Our server was great, the food was delicious and I like the tiramisu & biscotti at the end of the meal, it was a nice surprise. My testarossa cocktail was my favorite, it had grapefruit & lemon. I split a gnocchi with marinara and halibut special with risotto. Both were delicious but my favorite was the halibut, it was so soft, the risotto was perfectly cooked and the sauces tasted great too.

Carmine's is such a beautiful spot for a special occasion! We came for a birthday celebration, and the whole experience felt elegant and festive. The dining room is gorgeous with huge windows, high ceilings, chandeliers, and tons of natural light. We ordered the Bolognese Rigatoni, seafood pasta, and mushrooms. The Bolognese rigatoni was rich, comforting, and flavorful, while the seafood pasta came loaded with shrimp, mussels, clams, and calamari in a delicious tomato sauce. The mushrooms were also a great side to share. For drinks, I ordered the French 0.0 mocktail, which was light, refreshing, and beautifully presented. The birthday touches were especially sweet. They had a handwritten Happy Birthday card waiting at our table and brought out a complimentary traditional tiramisu with a candle. We also ordered their signature coffee bean tiramisu, which was completely different in presentation.

I may sound like a broken record, but we recently enjoyed yet another impressive dining experience at Carmine's on 5th. The plating and presentation are consistently polished, the front-of-house staff have been welcoming on every visit, the restaurant's space is always visually appealing, and the servers have always been excellent. Most importantly, the food has never disappointed. Each visit has deepened our appreciation for the skill and care coming from the kitchen. One of our favorite servers, Joshua, was working tonight and provided his usual attentive and thoughtful service. The bread service to begin dinner were slices of artisan rustic sourdough bread with a dark, blistered crust and a white interior crumb. Next up the appetizer. This time, after we began with a familiar favorite: Gamberoni con 'Nduja (without the 'Nduja). The appetizer features four large prawns grilled with chilies, simmered with marinara sauce instead of 'Nduja, white wine, lemon butter, and served with herbed Gruyère crostini. I guess you can call it Gamberoni con Marinara. Before the main course, I chose a small Caesar salad with endive and croutons. The Romaine and endive were crisp and the croutons crunchy! For our entrées, we selected the Parmigiana di Melanzane and the Halibut Special. The Parmigiana di Melanzane is an entrée featuring eggplant with marinara and fresh mozzarella. I tried a sample and it was delicious! The Halibut was broiled and included herbs and extra virgin olive oil, served with mushroom risotto. I really enjoyed this dish and hope it becomes a regular menu item. The halibut was perfectly broiled (for my taste) and well-seasoned. After three visits to Carmine's on 5th, we have yet to be disappointed by either the food or the service provided. They also validate free parking, while paid valet parking is offered by the building.

Had a really delicious birthday dinner here at Carmine's. The ambience was perfect for a romantic, intimate date night and their cocktails were good too.

The perfect location for a birthday dinner, intimate, beautifully lit and a fantastic menu. The service is outstanding and the waiters do an awesome job making sure that you know exactly what you are ordering and are happy to provide suggestions if needed! From start to finish I could not be more pleased with my experience at Carmines!

First time here. The restaurant itself is nice. Very pretty and well for date night. Calamari was salty for my tastebuds and more batter than the squid itself. Bread was hard but it was complimentary. Pasta was decent. Some of my noodles were still uncooked or wasn't cooked evenly. The best thing was the steak. Enough for two people if you don't want to bring home leftovers. Staff was friendly and accommodating to our needs.

Downtown Seattle's Carmine's location serves solid, tasty Italian fare in the renovated Palomino space - no complaints. Service was superb; never an empty glass or an unfulfilled request. This Carmine's location's menu is very similar to this restaurant group's Il Terrazo flagship in Pioneer Square. More similar to IT's than the Bellevue Carmine's, in fact. Lots of classic dishes (no sweetbreads, you still have to go to IT for those, but they do have the duck and the lamb chops!). Downtown Carmine's is also easier to get to than IT, with valet parking out in front. I think we've found a new haunt.

First time at the Carmines on 5th Ave and had an amazing time. Our group got seated in the front and the service was spectacular. The food came out hot, fresh, and in a timely manner. Drinks came out pretty fast as well. The calamari size is a bit smaller than usual. The pasta has always been really good and no complaints. I ordered the ribeye steak and that came out grilled perfectly. The ambiance is very cute. Loved the chandler in the middle of the room. A cute restaurant to celebrate a special occasion or for a date night spot. There's a parking garage next door and the restaurant does not validate.

Overall a delicious meal, our server was great. prices are quite high.. but it is downtown. We ordered the Bistecca alla Fiorentina which was very tender and well-dressed with garlic/herbs. They mentioned all the steaks on the menu were dry aged! The squid ink pasta was one of the specials of the day, and came with massive grilled prawns that were very charred/smoke-y and well-cooked. Bf got the lobster pasta which was also creamy and delicious (like a bisque flavor).

O.M.G Lobster (look at that crab in the middle) Pasta! The noodles are my favorite.

Walking into Carmine's was epic. From the moment you step inside, you feel transported -- almost like you've stepped into a 1960s New York subway scene, but elevated with modern, sophisticated design and rich, moody colors. The walk leading up to the resturant alone sets the tone, and once inside, the space is breathtaking. From the charming, yet sophisticated bar to the massive, stunning chandeliers (true statement pieces), everything feels intentional and grand. The circular dining room, with guests gathered around sipping wine and enjoying beautiful Italian dishes, creates such an inviting and celebratory atmosphere. We were there for a birthday dinner, and Josh made the entire night unforgettable. His wine expertise was beyond impressive -- he walked us through regions, flavor profiles, and special details about each selection with confidence and passion. It's rare to find someone that knowledgeable and genuinely engaged. He made us feel heard, guided us thoughtfully, and the girls loved every recommendation. The food absolutely delivered. The lobster pasta was a standout -- creamy, rich, and generously topped with a heaping portion of lobster (not just a few flakes). Every bite was perfectly balanced with cheesy, silky noodles cooked just right. Another friend ordered the Bolognese, and that meat sauce paired with the pasta was so flavorful you just keep going back for another bite. The portions were generous -- especially for a restaurant of this caliber -- and we left completely satisfied. And let's talk gelato -- because you cannot skip it. Beautifully creamy and generously scooped, it came topped with the most delightful additions that elevated every bite. The toppings were not an afterthought -- they complemented the gelato perfectly and made it feel indulgent and special. For such a great price compared to the portion and flavor completely exceeded expectations. It was rich, satisfying, and yes... I happily devoured every bite. Josh's service was truly next level. He checked in thoughtfully, refilled wine seamlessly, and struck that perfect balance of being attentive without interrupting our fun. We were the last table of the night, laughing and celebrating, and he still went above and beyond -- even helping us take photos to capture the moment. That kind of care isn't required, but it makes all the difference. Josh embodies what hospitality should be and absolutely deserves recognition. Carmine's delivered atmosphere, quality, and exceptional service. See you there.

Beautiful restaurant for a special meals. I came for a business lunch, which I'd recommend Carmine's for if you're looking for a more warm and elevated atmosphere. Service was very attentive and friendly from everyone we've interacted with. We ordered the calamari fritti, which was a good option to share. They serve bread for the table so it was a goo mix to have as appetizers. I got the scaloppine di vitello which was delicious. The veal was tender (with light flour coating) and the polenta was one of the best I've had.

What is it like having dinner in the bar?

Probably ok as long as you don't have the inconsiderate and obnoxious tables near you. The food and service are excellent. The mood is totally disrupted by these women that take photos of themselves to post in social media. Seattle needs to learn…

I first arrived around 6:15 PM. The area was packed and finding street parking was surprisingly difficult, so give yourself some extra time if you're driving. I also didn't have a reservation and was quoted about a 45-minute to one-hour wait for a walk-in. The woman at the front was very nice, though, and took my number for the waitlist. I used the time to drive over to Kerry Park for some sightseeing and came back around 7:30 PM. By then, my spot was ready and I was seated at the bar. I hadn't really eaten a proper lunch after the race, so at this point I was basically combining lunch and dinner. On the recommendation of the woman serving me at the bar, I ordered two half portions of pasta: Tajarin con burro e salvia -- $20 Fine hand-cut egg yolk pasta with butter and sage. Cavatelli al ragù di costolette -- $24 Cavatelli with short rib ragù and marinated cherry tomatoes. While I was waiting, they also brought out a complimentary amuse-bouche with toast, fig, and a dark reduction. It was a nice little start to the meal. The tajarin with butter and sage came first. I was starving and finished it pretty quickly. They also served bread and long, thin, crunchy breadsticks that I believe were grissini. The pasta was good, although it didn't completely blow me away. I'd probably give that dish around a 3.5/5. Then came the cavatelli with short rib ragù. Oh my gosh, guys. This might genuinely be one of the greatest pasta dishes I've ever tasted. Somehow, it was even better than the spaghetti Bolognese I'd had at another Italian restaurant the night before. The short rib ragù was remarkable -- incredibly rich and flavorful -- and the cavatelli had this wonderful soft, chewy texture that worked perfectly with the beef ragù and tomatoes. Everything just came together. This was easily the highlight of the meal and one of my favorite Italian dishes I've had anywhere. The bar seating also ended up being pretty social. I talked with a guy next to me who had recently finished a triathlon, and chatted with another woman whose birthday was the following day. It made eating solo considerably more enjoyable. By the end, I was completely full. Considering those two half portions essentially became my post-race lunch and dinner combined, I thought it was well worth it. I'm giving Spinasse 5/5 largely because that cavatelli with short rib ragù was absolutely remarkable. I'd come back without question the next time I'm in Seattle -- and I'd probably order that exact dish again. One word of warning: I'd strongly recommend making a reservation, especially on a weekend. If you're dining solo, walking in and waiting for a bar seat can work, but I'd still be prepared to wait. 5/5 stars Last visited: August 30, 2026

Unfortunately, the food did not hit right. Here's what we ordered: Appetizer: Crispelle - Crespelle filled with taleggio & fig mostarda with roasted figs and walnuts: Tasted like a crepe filled with brie - just OK. Primi: Tajarin con burro e salvia - Fine hand-cut egg yolk pasta with cultured butter and sage. I see the potential but someone was heavy handed with the salt so it ruined whatever flavors were supposed to come through. Secondi: Salmone reale - Pan-roasted king salmon with sauteed chanterelles, crimini brodo and thyme oil. Again, could have been really great but the mushrooms & sauce were overly salty. I think I read another review that captures my sentiments . . . perhaps whoever was the chef that night fell short. I specifically asked if the head chef Stuart was there and they said no.

It definitely gives off more romantic/date night vibes, but it was also fun to experience with some ladies from my team. Perfect for a girl's night! Obsessed with the string lights, the fountain, and the overall atmosphere. You somehow don't even realize you're in the middle of Seattle when you're here. The menu has so many options which made it so hard to choose, but I ended up going with the Fettucini ai Fungh - fresh fettuccini pasta with wild mushrooms served in a light cream sauce topped with truffle oil, and I also added chicken. We were only trying to be accommodating and make things easier for the staff. We were initially seated inside, but they eventually moved us outside because that was what they had available and what our reservation was originally for. At that point, the staff seemed noticeably upset with us for having sat inside. Our host then argued with us and said that we had requested to sit inside, which simply wasn't what happened. It was frustrating to have our attempt to be flexible turned into an issue and then be argued with about what we had said.

For those short of time and live with no adventure I'll cut to the chase. The food is exquisite…read more For the rest, please read on. This last week while traveling for business to Seattle I had the pleasure of dining at Mezzanote. Their name of course implies it is an Italian restaurant but what you don't realize until you have sat and initiated your meal is that you, regardless of choice are embarking on a beautiful tribute to Northern Italian cuisine. At first arrival, the immediate impression is one of modest presentation but friendly and very inviting ambience. The staff, including our Server Marcus was attentive and had impeccable timing to read the table and flow of those joined in the meal. Check back was perfect and his service support was equally in tune with the other tables on the patio where we sat. Now this is what you have been waiting for... The food and I mean, we had almost one of every item on the menu and every dish was simply delicious. Tastes that were balanced and never overwhelming, but truly inspired dishes that your taste buds understand that the food was made with care and meant to satisfy even the toughest of pallets. Let's start with the house focaccia and ask for the disco sauce to dip your bread. It was a tummy satisfying start but then they dropped the focaccia regala and with the cheeses melted in a medley that left me thankful I was as they say "hungry as a hostage" because the meal had just begun. The next appetizer brought out was the Carote... This medley of carrots smoked with a Chile Honey Glaze left this BBQ born and raised Mexican wondering why ?? And then I had my first forkful and any doubt that I had about the chef creating something sacrilegious by smoking carrots left me, as the flavors were amazing. For a moment I forgot I was eating my vegetables.. where was this when I was a younger man. On to the main courses and the Reginette was first up. This Bolognese was a hearty blend of flavor and subtlety as it wasn't overly anything except satisfying. The Braciola Dia Miaale was a durock pork chop with a rhubar mostarda and salsify puree with asparagus that could not have been better. You didn't have to be a pork chop fan to enjoy this at all. Every dish that arrived was better than the one before. The Bucatini C'Anciuova, Prawns with Calabrian Chile, anchovies, tomatoe and orange zest was a delight and I don't normally eat anything overly spicy. This was a balance of heat with a twist of tang that the orange zest delivered flawlessly. Allow me to share that it is imperative you save room for dessert. Their tiramisu taste as if there is some Italian grandmother locked away in a pastry room kicking these out. They have other desserts to be sure, but this is the star of the show in my opinion. For those of you that are wine enthusiast, they did have a wine list that was impressive. All in all, for those that follow me, you know that it is a rarity for me to give any place I visit five stars from the first visit. Consistency is premium in my book. But as I mentioned to one of our fellow diners. This food is amazing, and the reality is each of these dishes could be served in a five-star venue layered with opulence and still the food would outshine the location. The only drawback was there was no Coke Zero... Damn it ...Turns out though that can be a pretty tough find in the city of Seattle in all the restaurants. For one that does not participate in alcohol or wine, my taste buds were not underserved and I survived without my Zero. This place is a go-to for any Italian yearning for authentic Italian food made with love. That's the only way I can describe just how good the food is. This isn't something that is prepared in volume for the masses. The chef and that team are simply serving with their hearts and it resonates with every bite. I'll be back, again and again. Oh and should you find yourself needing to go to the restroom. Ask for the Disco restroom.. that alone is worth the drive... Lol until next time Mezzanote! Thank you for a wonderful meal.
