I see the negative comments on here and I want you to understand this a USED car lot so with any used car lot it's buyer beware. You are given 10 days to test the car out and return it if not running right or just don't fit your vibe . My suggestion to you get the car put it through the paces in the 10 days. And if you don't trust them or think something is off about the car take it to a shop you trust let them do a bumper to bumper check if something was doctored on it they would be able to see it .. also look deep into the car I mean go around it check the trim tires etc ... ever heard of the term drive it around kick the tires ? Do your own homework on the car .. Now I will say my experience with the Bloomington store has been nothing short of complete professionalism and friendly staff .. they answered all the questions I had. Trust me I was waiting for them to trip up on something and show why they have a poor rating but nothing happened. We got a really nice 2022 Jeep . Wife loves it ( happy wife happy life ) and I don't have to pay for endless repairs. Win/win. So ask a lot of questions they have all the information on the car if it was in accidents or factory recalls if it doesn't then you can't hold them responsible for something they didn't know .. Bottom line if you don't like car max then get your credit score up and go buy brand new I promise you they work on commission so they don't care about you they want payday .... As a whole I will give car max a 4.5/5 when you call the number to set something up with the person the phone they are very pushy and don't give all the details they make it sound like the car you picked on line has to be the one you get but not even close to being true . this dealer has gone through some very good management changes recently, as having gotten rid of problem people who have made the car buying pretty rough. Happy to say that this place is definitely going in a slightly more positive direction. A couple years ago I had multiple issues trying to purchase a vehicle, but having given them another chance recently, it is good to see that there seems to be some kind of training being done to provide a good experience. I took a day off work to get my car appraised and such. Waited several days for the appraisal to come through still nothing so I called them and they said we will send it out waited a few more days still nothing. I call them again and they said they had the wrong information and such so I had to start the process all over again. The initial offer was 5,500 for the vehicle and because of their screw up I had to do again then they offered me 3,500 so I called to talk to someone and I got hung up on!! Very very unprofessional this place needs to be audited or switched to new management because this was absolutely pathetic. read more

I cannot stress enough how miserable of an experience this has been. I DO NOT recommend buying a car through CarMax. There were delays in the car purchase due to title issues, then the car I was sold had issues when I left the lot. I hardly think it went through the supposed "reconditioning" and "125 point inspection. I began the process of purchasing my car three months ago and have had it in my possession 21 days. The rest of the time it's been in the shop. CarMax has been unwilling to make the situation better for me. Their only solution was to buy back the car from me, which did not make my situation better. It only would leave me without a vehicle after a three month ordeal. They refuse to say, "How can we make this experience BETTER for you?" They're not good to deal with at all. I was lied to and told there was a glitch in their computer system and they couldn't submit my appraisal on my car. Truth being it was submitted within 7 minutes of walking through their door. My car was worth more than they were trying to give me for it and they knew it. She had the audacity to tell me after sitting there for 50 minutes while she was laughing and talking with other employees and ignoring me that I could wait awhile longer or I could go and they would email it to me knowing it went through. Do not go there. They have all young kids working there that I could see and they are not professional at all. They have no respect for customers. We just wasted over an hour driving here to get an in-person appraisal because the online appraisal was really low and they wanted to see it. We showed up with title in hand, for our over $50k vehicle and ready to buy a vehicle from their corporation and have it shipped here. First off, we didn't realize they didn't open until 11:00 (our bad)...so we wasted another hour killing time until we could go back. We return at 11:00 and he told us we needed masks, I have a medical exemption from wearing one. That wasn't good enough for him. So neither is our money. We will gladly bring our business elsewhere. My fiancé and I bought a newer vehicle in which put us at one more than needed. We wanted to sell the older one as soon as possible to avoid taking space up in our parking lot, but that came with the hassle of multiple random people viewing the truck at odd hours of the day, people attempting to trade, keeping in touch with viewers, low balling the pricing... the fun hassle of selling a truck and what not. I set an appointment up, both of us very tired. We got Zack. He was phenomenal. I rarely leave review, let alone in the auto industry, but he knew what he was doing. He processed us fast and efficiently with great communication! On top, he was training someone at the same time! We were in and out quick and very happy! If I were to recommend service from this location, I would highly suggest making an appointment with him. No negotiation! The car business is all negotiating who do they think they're kidding! Horrible experience! Asked if they'd match Carvana offer to buy my car and I was told they don't negotiate. The very next day I entered my car info again and their offer came in the same as Carvana, lol! Been waiting for a transfer since the 30th of June. I was told it would take 21 days to transfer which is absurd I agreed they kept reminding me it would be there on July 19th. The car got there early and has now been at the Bloomington store for 4 days. I have called twice to see when I can pick up my vehicle or my refund for my transfer fee. Thursday I was told the store was backed up it would be a couple of days today is Saturday and I still haven't heard anything or got my refund. Do not go here they will see me today !! read more

Thousands less than the absolute lowest value I had found on Edmunds, KBB, and True Car. And my car was in very good condition with extremely low mileage. I was insulted and walked out. CarMax in Bloomington is the absolute definition of a scam. They will sell you a car for 30 k with a sort of protection plan, never back up that plan and completely and I mean completely screw you over in regards to it. They have sub par customer service complete with "pass the buck" practices that end in a string of please holds and no answers. If I had known this is who I was going to buy a car from I would have found a ping pong table, cut a hole in it and ya ba dab a dooed my way to work because a foot peddled vehicle would have been better in comparison to purchasing ANYTHING from these jokers. I'm guessing the buying experience would be alright, but trying to sell a car to CarMax is a bit disappointing. I should have expected a lowball offer on my BMW, but their inspection had pointed out details that were untrue on my vehicle making me believe they were trying to simply take advantage of the sale. Wonderful buying experience! They make purchasing a vehicle incredibly easy. It is a MUCH different experience than any other used car dealerships that I have experienced in the past. Their website is unbelievably easy to use and their employees are very friendly and helpful. I worked with Trevor at the Bloomington branch and he helped me purchase an incredible vehicle at a fair price. No high stress negotiations or heavy pressure sales tactics. They don't make you change which features you desire on a vehicle in order to match what they have on the lot. You decide which vehicle you would like and which color and features you want and they will have that exact vehicle shipped in if it is not already there! I took my 2013 2LS Coupe Camaro with 115,500 miles to Carmax in Bloomington, IL. I was very unsatisfied with their offer. It was WAY BELOW the Kelley Blue Book. My car is in excellent condition. I had also just put two brand new tires on the front. I had it spotlessly cleaned inside and out. I expected to get an offer of around $7500. Do NOT take your car there. This has been the worst experience I have ever had at any car dealership. 4 times now we have been told that we could get a certain car and we walk out without the car. They have jerked us around multiple times and made everything beyond difficult. The staff is super nice, but the way they do business is awful! So I just have to say my experience there was a complete another joke I took my 2017 Toyota tundra with only 19,000 miles on it in a little bit of bad damage which I've had quoted to get fixed would only be about 5 to 600 bucks so like any reasonable person I checked my price on KB be which is still relisted the truck is a buyer for purchase of 32,000 or a trade-in of 33 to 35 so they had me sit there for seems like 3045 minutes after very friendly and then try to get my truck at $25,000 I don't know what Game they're trying to play but when you lowball someone 10,000 underneath a KBB says that a joke I suggest no one take their trade-ins here just for the fact they're going to lowball you and turn around and sell that car for the price you know you can get for it because buying my truck at $25,000 they would've turned around and sold it anywhere between 34 and 35 how is that right so I say don't ever take your car is here they will lowball you and rip you off and probably put you in the car at a higher rate than you are now sorry for the bad experience but there's nothing nice I can say about a company that tries to take advantage of its customers thank you read more
