My friend, aka, the older man eating by himself next to me, said his chicken fried steak was wonderful. He told me he was sad that his biscuit/roll was microwaved. Food: I ordered a meat lovers omelette. It was okay, I could have made a better one at home. It was sloppily folded and more like an egg pancake than an omelette. Sweet tea wasn't sweet :( the pancakes were really great- I wish they were bigger. Next time I'll just get the pancakes. Service: we were seated immediately which was surprising because the parking lot was full. They were eager to sit us, three different people were finding us a table. I thought this was nice until I realized it's because their main goal is to get you in and out as quickly as possible. Our server was not personable at all. It was all a very quick transaction. Pretty solid little place for breakfast. My veggie omelet was pretty good and had tons of jalapenos, so it really had a kick (which I like). Cheese wasn't melted though and it wasn't very hot. The multigrain pancakes on the side were tasty, but also not hot. They have more options than your run-of-the-mill breakfast joint (like sweet cream pancakes and the aforementioned multigrain) and everything is fairly tasty, so I recommend them. If they lower their prices a smidge ($8.99 for corned beef hash??) and use more fresh ingredients (frozen strawberries, pickled jalapenos, etc.), they'd be four stars in my book. read more

Me & Hubby had brunch last Friday a day before Veterans day. It's hubby first time but been here I think 3 times. So far I am pleased of the foods. I have lived here for 10 years and have eaten at Cari's about 10 times. The food is always great and I am picky. The major problem and reason I don't go there more often is that the service has always been lacking, too many people, food cold, waitress forgot to place our order and left us there for over an hour without checking with us as it was packed. We finally got our order placed but only because I complained about everyone who came after us was almost done eating. The owner cooked our meal himself and did not charge us, it was good, but I can't get over being completely ignored and left to sit without being asked if we were OK or not. Decided to visit Cari's for a quick breakfast with the hubby. It was late in the morning and they were busy but not completely full. We were greeted immediately and told we could sit anywhere we liked. We chose a table close to the door and our waitress was close behind. She got our drink order while we looked over the menu and when she came back we placed our order. Hubby ordered something with a little bit of everything! Lol. He ordered eggs, bacon, hash browns, biscuits and gravy and two pumpkin pancakes. I ordered eggs Benedict and it came with a side of hash browns. We received our order fairly quickly and everything looked pretty good. Basically everything was okay but it was lacking in several places. The bacon was crisp but not very flavorful. The biscuits were not homemade they were just basic canned biscuits and the gravy tasted like packaged gravy. The hollandaise sauce was out of a package as well. Since moving to Granbury, I cannot get enough of Cari's. At this point I recognize all the employees and have had some nice chats with the incredibly friendly owners. I don't need a menu anymore, because I've tried most of their dishes already and can easily make a pick for the day from my mental repertoire of favorites. Among the pancakes, the sweet cream are divine, for sure. For those who like the typical fall flavor of pumpkin, you can get pumpkin pancakes at Cari's year-round. Try adding chocolate chips! The omelets are quite large and stuffed with your choice of filling. For a smaller savory choice, the breakfast burritos are great. And one of their fabulous cinnamon rolls is a great addition to any meal! I recommend sharing a couple around the table. Every time I've been to Cari's, the staff has been helpful and friendly, the facility has been clean, and the food is spot on. And to top it off, you can't beat the price. read more

We are in town for my 40th Birthday and yelped where to eat breakfast. This place came up as number 1. So we were off! Ordered, yes, a gluten free pancake was available if you ask. Then enjoyed a delicious breakfast. My husband had the meat lovers omelet and a pancake and waffle lol yeah he's funny like that. Wanted to taste both! He said all of it was amazing. My bacon was cooked just right too. And thick! Not some flimsy piece. As we were sitting there we noticed some things about the restaurant. Some "Divine" things. We just laughed because we had already prayed about this trip that it be full and God lead. Joe the owner came up and asked about our food. Told him it was amazing and asked him where we might find some hiking boots. Behind the restaurant of course! Paid and went to the store. Got a 10% discount because Joe sent us. As we walked to our car he hollered at us and asked to see Bryan's shoes. He walked us out to the car and asked if he could pray with us. Blessed our trip. My birthday. It was such an amazing moment there in a town we didn't know at a place that we just "happened" upon. Sometimes we are looking to fill our bellies. This place will do it. It's not a weird "pushy religion" restaurant. It's just a great restaurant, with great food, owned by God lead folks, that care.
