I literally stumbled onto this location and I'm thankful that I did. While spending time at Paisley Park I decided to check out the Riley Creek tunnel located just off of the Paisley Park grounds. After spending time at the Riley Creek tunnel, I decided to walk the trail and enjoy the beautiful April weather. Before I knew it I had walked the ~1 mile from the Paisley Park area to the shopping area where this Caribou is located. Anyone who knows me is aware that I enjoy a great cup and considering I had not had a cup of Caribou Coffee in years I decided to go for it. Little did I know that I would get a great cup of coffee and then some from this Caribou location. This location is very nice and lots of seating inside which included the usual comfy couches and chairs as well as table and chairs more suitable for work. There is also a nice patio outside equipped with seating. The staff at this location was super friendly and very welcoming. Caribou is not available where I live so it took me a minute to frequent myself with the menu. The barista was friendly and offered to answer any questions. Once I decided what I wanted I placed my order to go. As it was given to me the first thing I noticed was the purple sleeve on the cup. Upon further inspection, I noticed the purple sleeve had the official Paisley Park emblem printed on it. I immediately looked up at the barista who was obviously watching for my reaction and she nodded her head to answer the question I hadn't asked. To my surprise, this is the Caribou location that Prince was reportedly known to visit occasionally. Per the stories, Prince was known to pay for his order with a $100 bill. He never waited for his change because he didn't have anywhere to put it. Why? Because he didn't have pockets (c'mon everyone knows Prince was too cool for pockets). Needless to say, this made my cup of coffee that much more enjoyable. Purple cup sleeves or not, I will return to this location when I'm back in the area. Great service and a tasty cup of coffee goes a long way with me.

I stopped here for a pumpkin spice latte. It was just a few blocks away from the Air B&B location where I was staying which was within walking distance to Paisley Park. According to the baristas here, Prince would ride his bike along the Riley Creek Trail that runs from Paisley Park thru Lake Ann Park. He would slip in quietly, sit for a spell, and leave tips by the $100s. As star struck outsiders, we expected to hear stories of heart stopping encounters or how Prince commanded star treatment by walking in with an entourage and shutting the whole place down. What we have found is that to the locals he was Prince Rogers Nelson, the North Minneapolis native son who never left. I thought it was cool that they had a Mint Condition tea on the menu. Not sure if it was homage to the band Mint Condition but I took it that way. Love the company slogan, "Life is short. Stay awake for it."

Ahhh Caribouu... how I have missed youuu.. I am originally from MN and grew up with Caribous as our hang out place, or study place in high school, with yummy drinks, and warm cozy atmosphere! Since moving to Chicagoland, I was comforted that there were many a Caribou Coffee locations...until tbey ALL PULLED OUT of the Chicagoland market! Gah! Withdrawls! This location was very cute, it had that cozy interior and lots of seating... and the front seating area has lots of big windows for ample natural lighting... This (April 2014ĺ is also the first I have seen lunch sandwiches offered on the menu, I was having a hard time decifering which of the 3 new sammiches to try because there are no ingredients listed, and the employees did not know what sauces or dressings or any ingredients besides what is listed in the title..so the meat, cheese, and bun.. but no real other info, even when the cashier girl tried to look it up in her product ingredients binder... so I took a chance on the Ham and Gruyere Cheese sandwich on a pretzel bun... Definitely had better... twas not very good... The idea of it sounded good, looked good in the picture, but ended up being much smaller and nastier than anticipated... it's so overpoweringly salty like super salty ham & pretzel bun, and really just doesn't taste like anything.... except pretzel bun, you taste that beast...and I LOVE me some pretzel bun.. but this hot drippy mess was just dysfunctional ... definitely will not be getting this again... and it just came out of a plastic wrap, and basically microwaved... blech...should have gone with the classic delish Chicken Apple Sausage Daybreaker... Moving onto beverages... I decided to inquire at the possibility of getting a cold blended cooler version of the Turtle Mocha, and I thought it would have espresso in it, like most normal Mochas, but they explained they would just have their cold coffee mix, no espresso, so I asked if they could please add two shots, which was no problemo, and if you can see by plethora of pictures how delectable my sweet treat beverage was.. sprinkled with crumbled Snickers atop my whippie... yum!

I had an awesome breakfast burrito and their awesome Tirimasu Latte (iced), and they have other offerings that will lure me from St Paul for future visits. Specifically, now that I am mourning the loss of Sun Street Breads and its Thursday Night Pizza Night, I'll have to try Smith's version of that. But I'll probably come back for brunch on a weekend pretty soon and get more coffee, as well as something from their bakery. But also, yes, brunch; the eggs in my burrito were really perfect. I was there at around noon on a Sunday; peak busy times so parking was a little hairy but I eventually found a spot. I absolutely recommend coming with a bunch of pals and hanging out for a good long time, but maybe don't all drive separately if it's noon-ish on a weekend. They have a lovely patio area which was well-populated, even on this extra-sunny mid-February day. If you like adorable cafes, you will definitely love this place.

I immediately started looking at coffee shops that I could relocate to in order to work. I had been wanting to go try Smiths for a while but the opportunity just never presented itself despite being just down the road. I arrived and the driveway leading to the parking lot was lined with cars, but I was able to find a spot in the parking lot after a minute or so. It was definitely a full lot for sure. The location is absolutely adorable as this is a historic house. It was once a Dunn Brothers, but I do love that it is its own thing now rather than a chain. They had a outdoor patio that people were enjoying but it was a bit chilly for working and sitting outside, one person even had a dog which I LOVE! Inside the front door you are greeted with a welcoming counter that you can order. I opted to try the salted caramel iced latte. If you are consuming there (which I was) they give you a number to bring to your table and they bring the drink. I really liked this idea especially in the aspect of not having to stand and wait for a drink. The price was a bit high (7.55 for a 16 oz with $1 tip), but then again everything is getting expensive these days. I walked back to the seating area and there are essentially 3 rooms downstairs, I walked through all 3 to see where working would be ideal. I went upstairs but there was a woman in the room so I assumed it was a group that was meeting or something so I opted to not investigate further. I found seating downstairs in what felt like the quietest part, but there were a lot of people there talking and the acoustics were not exactly fantastic. I did have a call which I took via teams and air pods and discovered the sound in the room was actually really not awesome for a meeting as it was quite loud and the wifi was not strong enough to support the video on the teams call. So would I recommend working from Smith, not if you have a meeting, but if you are looking for a place that has some background noise, I guess... However this is certainly a place that is perfect for meeting someone and enjoying breakfast or coffee and I love that. I did not order food this time, but everything I saw get delivered looked delicious. I also noticed they have a pizza night on Thursday nights and immediately made a note of that for a date night with the hubby.

Great first visit to Basecamp Coffee!…read more The staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly. They walked me through the menu and explained all of their coffee selections. I loved that they had hot, iced, and seasonal coffee options. There were also seasonal flight options; however, I opted for an iced latte. They also offer punch cards, which I loved and happened to luck out with--the customer before me won a free coffee and decided to gift it to the next customer, which ended up being me. The space is huge! It's shared with the brewing company next door, so both the coffee shop and brewery seating areas are open for the public to enjoy. Whether you're there to work or meet up with friends, there's plenty of space to hang out. While I waited for my coffee, I scoped out the merch area, which was filled with goodies made by local vendors. I purchased my first reusable sleeve, which turned out to be the ideal solution for my iced latte. I was immediately able to put it to the test and was happy to report that I was satisfied with both my latte and my sleeve! Looking forward to try out at coffee flight at my next visit!
