After filling up my tummy with pho, I walked over to my car and noticed Dunn Brothers Coffee steps away. I didn't need a beverage, as I had my Thai bubble tea with me. However, I was intrigued to check it out, as I have never been to any Dunn Brothers Coffee place in my life. So, I put my Thai bubble tea in my car and walked over here. There was a woman in front of me placing her order. It allowed me to look at the baked goods. I felt like a dessert item. There are seats to the right of the order area where you can take a load off, sip your beverage, and indulge. There was also a cheerful red coffee grinder that looked so pretty with the sunshine spotlighting it. When it was my turn, I got a nice guy helping me out behind the counter. I had my eye on the cinnamon coffee cake, so I ordered it. He was about to enter it in the payment system when he noticed that the woman before me had her payment declined. So, I stepped away as the other woman behind the counter got the female customer to swipe her card again. Everything eventually was sorted out. It allowed me to look at all the syrup bottles available for purchase. I was excited to see sugar-free raspberry syrup. You can also get growlettes. They looked so nice. I then went to pay for my item. I used a credit card. It was straightforward and nothing was declined. Yay! I got my cinnamon coffee cake. I thanked the man and left. I had the coffee cake when I returned to my hotel room. I heated it up slightly. It looked like it was smiling back at me. OMG! It was moist and so delicious. I loved it. It was definitely worth getting. I'd love to return and get a raspberry white mocha and more baked goods. This place has dairy-free options. It's a cool place in my books. (490) read more

This place has unfortunately gone down hill. Nice people; however, drinks don't taste good sometimes, even drip brew can be iffy.

We stay at the hotel across the street when we're in town and I go almost every morning. Very friendly and love the atmosphere! I went two days in a row and one barista remembered my usual drink. The drinks are not bad at all and the lunch sandwiches are great! I've worked in a coffee kiosk and these baristas are warm and welcoming. read more

Online ordering fails at this location as they are frequently out of stock on all but the very coffee basics and this is not reflected on the website when ordering. Be prepared for a bait-n-switch when ordering a kitchen or bakery product. They are also only consistantly open in the mornings - do not expect anyone to be there in the afternoons. read more

With blinking eyes and a hazy brain on an early Sunday morning I rambled in. I had no idea what to get. No clue what I needed, but the young lady behind the counter seemed to know just by looking at me! After asking if I wanted a hot or cold drink she suggested their new Nirvana drinks. I chose a hot one! Cold press coffee with steamed milk and your flavor choice. I went for the white chocolate pistachio in a large. I am so happy right now! The flavors are sweet and smooth. The temperature is warm. This drink is smooth! I paired it with a pistachio muffin. Because honestly, I can never have enough pistachio! I may need to frequent the Dunn Bros that is on my way to work to get my caffeine fix. It's so good! The two young ladies working here were so knowledgeable, friendly yet efficient, and asked all the right questions! So helpful for a sleepy brained Mom like myself waiting for a baseball game to start on an early Sunday morning! Definitely stop in this warm and inviting spot! One of the better Dunn Bro locations I've come across. Spacious with lots of natural light. They also have a nice selection of baked goods and to-go style food. Free WiFi but make sure your devices are fully charged since power outlets are limited. This is outrageous, the first time that I had gone to this location the workers there had an unacceptable behavior however I decided to give it a second chance only to realize that they were closed when it was listed as open. I'm so sad to leave this review as I loved this location. The place is really cute and welcoming to sit and read a book. I had NEVER had a yucky drink made here. Usually the front was run by younger girls, they made wonderful coffee (and I would usually try something new). I hadn't been in a little while but the last time I went, I ordered a simple caramel banana nirvana and what I was handed did not taste like banana at all. I politely returned the drink and asked for more of the banana flavor and the lady did what I asked, but now the drink was very sweet... I just counted it as a one off since I had never seen her before and I assumed she was just learning her way. Fast-forward a month later I just went in today and ordered a simple vanilla Nirvana and what I got back was basically a cup of watered down ice coffee that barely tasted like vanilla at all. I noticed the same lady and what seemed to be her husband running the register. He was very nice but the coffee I have gotten is atrocious and I don't want to try my luck with a third one. I have a feeling this location has new owners who also run the store and make the coffee. I understand running a business and if it's your first time can be pretty tough, but please learn how to make the drinks properly of you are a coffee shop!! So far everything I have ordered comes back the same, just watered down yucky flavorless coffee. read more

Stop in here on the weekends and relax with a cup of joe and paper while sitting in a comfy soft chair. They are very friendly here in a nice atmosphere. They usually have a light and dark roast available. Caribou usually peddles one roast after the morning rush so I like the option. They have some nice food selections if your hungry. FINALLY!!! A coffee shop w/good...no wait scratch that AWESOME wifi connection! You don't know how extremely frustrating it is to come into a coffee shop and start doing some work only to be slowed down by horrible wifi connection...waiting every 5min for a document to load is such a waste of time. On top of the great wifi, this location has awesome awesome customer service. I was greeted immediately upon walking through the door. And it's kind of intimidating walking into a new coffee shop not knowing what is good, so they helped me pick a great tasting dark roast cup of coffee. This is my #1 place for coffee south of the Twin Cities. The reason for it is simply that I prefer Dunn Bros Coffee above almost any other chain. They roast their own beans locally at each store, so if you buy coffee by the pound, you can get it within a couple days of being roasted - that's the definition of fresh, right? Secondly though, their coffee is one of the very few that stands up on its own in a cafe au lait, which requires a very stout black coffee. Dunn Bros is the ONLY coffee in the Twin Cities that doesn't taste like water after being mixed into a cafe au lait. So first come love of their beans, followed by love of their community involvement - it seems like they are everywhere giving out free coffee and school events, charity events, churches, etc. I respect that they are involved, but not to promote themselves. They are there to offer what they do best - make coffee - and then they give it away for free in an unassuming way - not with a big banner advertising their brand. I have a thing for American Made where I'll pay more for it even if there is an "equal" product available for less; I also have a thing for supporting businesses that support the community for the right reasons - because they legitimately care and want to assist organizations - that is Dunn Bros. And if they get a little extra business from me and others because of it, then it's because they deserve it. Last in this love story is the fact that I started to feel like I was rooking the store because every time I check-in through Yelp!, a Deal for "$1 off a prepared drink" always pops up. That's effectively 25%-35% off any coffee drink in the house! What a deal!! And then recently I finally downloaded the new Dunn Bros app and discovered a crazy easy way to pay to make my trip in-and-out of the store even faster and earn points toward a free coffee in the future. First experience here was a pleasant visit. I would give that one a 4 star. The very polite barista greeted me as soon as I walked in the door and was very reassuring when repeating back what I would like to order. I specifically asked if they made their Vanilla Steam Nirvana bulk mix premise in a pitcher, and I was told yes. So therefor I continued with my usual order and ordered it straight up, not steamed and no added ice. I didn't take a sip until I was home to find their was either no or barely an vanilla in it. I called to let him know maybe the bulk mix wasn't stirred and the syrup/sauce sat at the bottom of the pitcher. (After today's visit I learned that they DONT make the VSN bulk mix, just a NIRVANA bulk and they just add in whatever flavor, no big deal) I ended up going to my home Dunn Brother in Eagan who eagerly corrected the drink made by AV's Dunn Brothers free of charge which was very kind and much appreciated. Since the barista was so kind and accommodating, I didn't mind the hiccup and would definitely give this location another shot. Today's visit was the complete opposite. It was clear the barista was busy and seemed like he was the only one present. No greeting when I walked in, or any acknowledgment while I stood in line for a good five minutes waiting for him to walk out each drink he made to each customer that ordered it. Not even a "I'll be with you in a minute" or any eye contact of acknowledgement that I was standing in line what so ever. Then, when I explained what I wanted, the Vanilla Steamed Nirvana bulk mix, not steamed, no added ice, just the mix in my own mug. I was snobbishly told that they "don't do that". They "have a Nirvana bulk mix they could pour in the cup." I asked, "you don't do Vanilla Steamed Nirvanas at all?" And the barista smartly replied "well we do, it'll just be a steamed Nirvana" I asked him if he could add any vanilla to it to make it a VSN and clearly annoyed he said "I can do a Vanilla Steamed Nirvana, is that what you want??" I apologized and told him "I'm sorry, the last time I came here, I ordered the same thing I order at the Eagan location. We have the VSN bulk mix so I didn't know if you did too or not." He explained "some people just want the Nirvana bulk mix and it would be hard to make the other nirvanas if they put vanilla in the bulk mix".. okay. I asked if they still honor the military discount and that's when it was certain his attitude was snappy and sassy when he as a matter of fact-ly told me "you don't get both the bring your own mug discount AND the military discount" as he took a breath in and exhaled sharply. "that's okay, I just wanted the military discount.." was my response. I had forgotten my Veteran's ID so I asked if I could show a picture of me in uniform or of my ID and he said yes, but as I pulled it up he didn't acknowledge, make eye contact, or even care that I said thank you. He made the drink with the Nirvana bulk mix and Vanilla Syrup. I tasted it before I left and asked "I'm sorry, could I bother you to put some more Vanilla and White Mocha in this? It's usually way sweeter" His expression was pure irritation as he asked "Just Vanilla???" And I asked for the white mocha too (as the "drink bible" states you put white mocha AND vanilla in the VSN) he added it hastily stirred it and chucked the spoon into the sink. Still, it did not taste like a VSN ordered from anywhere else so I left unsatisfied with both the product AND the service. I literally drove back to Eagan and had them dump the product I just paid for to purchase one from them, made the right way. It is not the customers fault you are the only one working. You don't need to berate someone inquiring about your discounts and assume they're trying to get both. Dunn Brothers should be a welcoming place whether you are busy or have a line out the door they're known for their cheerful barista's positive attitudes! You can inform the customer about the differences between the different procedures of your store without making them seem like an idiot or burden for not knowing how you operate. I will definitely never go to that location again, and wouldn't recommend it to others. read more

My latte and cookie are just fine, but man is this place dirty! The floors obviously haven't seen a mop for weeks and the bathroom is just as bad. It's not my usual neck of the woods, so I don't know of this is the usual state of things. I've only been to this Dunn Bros location for take-out coffee so I can't say much about the seating, pastries, or wi-fi, but I can say that I've never, ever had a bad cup of coffee or anything less than exceptional service. I've never run into any pretentious or unfriendly staff here, which I can't say about almost any other coffee shop around the cities, chain or no. I've never felt pressured into ordering before I'm ready or felt like they were exasperated that I was taking too long looking at the menu. And when I do get around to deciding, the drip and cold press coffee is consistently great. The company sends out a nice amount of loyalty specials too. read more

The girl there was patient with me, because it was my first time at a Dunn Bros and needed some time to browse the menu. Turned out to be cheap. I bought a regular coffee with a strawberry cream cheese turnover and a pistachio muffin and paid 8 dollars. Which is not bad considering i would pay over 10 dollars at any other coffee place. The reason i took some stars off is because of the taste. The coffee was average and the pastries as well. I will stop by again if im really desperate in the morning for some coffee. read more

We no longer patronize this Dunn Brothers. The bathroom is always filthy and disgusting. The store itself is sorely in need of deep cleaning and an overhaul. The tables are shot, the furniture shot, the place looks junky, crowded and unkempt. We're taking our business to Blue Nose in Farmington off of Hwy 3. Highly recommend it. read more

If I could give this a zero, I would. It was my first time at the AV location but I just ordered what I would at Starbucks - a white chocolate mocha. The two guys working were short and unfriendly but I chalked it up to it being the morning. Then I got the coffee. Honestly, it was the worst I've ever tasted. It was like they had used week-old coffee from the garbage (not even espresso), possibly added a little bit of flavor, and called it good. Very much a waste of $5. It was disgusting. Dunn Bros Coffee is my favorite coffee shop in Apple Valley! The staff is always friendly, and the fresh roasted coffee is better than any of the larger coffee "chains".
