The pastry wasn't at all flaky or buttery but rather hard and biscuit-like. Maybe I went in with the wrong expectation of what an apple dumpling was but it wasn't what I had wanted exactly. It leaned more sweet and glaze heavy than it did cinnamon spice. Overall, would recommend checking out Aggie's for their longstanding history in the Milwaukee area. It just wasn't for me!
