There's a lot to like about Octane. I think it's a great idea. I was driving by and decided to give it a try. I realize this is a completely automated concept and that it may not meet the standards of a shop with an actual barista, but I was willing to give it a go. You don't know unless you try. I needed to install the app before placing my order, and it was incredibly easy to get started. Within a couple of minutes I had an account set up and was able to order and pay. The entire ordering process was very smooth. I love the idea that the system uses geolocation to put your drink in the queue at the right time so it is at the proper temperature when you arrive. Since I was already there, I pulled up to the kiosk and could see the progress of my order. I was briefly confused by some of the language and symbols on the kiosk, but I was lucky that the owner happened to be on site. He came over to chat, as I was the only one there, and confirmed my understanding. Thanks Adrian. When the kiosk indicated my drink was ready, I pulled up to the small building. There are a few essentials available before the beverage window, including trays, stoppers, and straws for anyone who needs them. At the window, a camera reads the QR code from your phone. A small door opens and your drink appears. Each cup is printed with the specific recipe, which is a nice touch. My issue was with the actual drink, a chai latte. It was nicely made. The foam was good, although the texture the drink could have been more "frothy". The temperature was right, and the flavor was mostly there. The problem for me was the sweetness. It was too sweet. I also wondered if the chai mix or concentrate contains an artificial sweetener. I am sensitive to those, and it seemed possible. It's clear that a lot of thought has gone into this concept. Aside from the drink itself, which is of course the whole point, the experience was essentially flawless. Other customers with different preferences may find it to be a great fit. If I came back again, I would probably try the matcha tea latte. PS - after responding to the follow message for my order, and giving a less than perfect rating, I was immediately contacted with a text message. I was able to provide some of this feedback directly. What can I say I like it here! It doesn't hurt I run errands out this way basically every weekend also. It truly is so nice to be able to place my order in advance and not have to worry about pick up until I'm actually ready to grab it! Love that they have come out with fun additional seasonal items! I pride myself on knowing what coffee spots are new to the area, but when I saw an article online about a new Brookfield spot, I was shocked and made immediate plans to give it a try. Octane delivers on a reimagined idea of what a coffee spot is. Fully autonomous(yup no people) you start by ordering on an app, which tracks your location. Some magic happens and they start your drink some predetermined distance from the location. Drive up, scan provided QR code, revolving door reveals your drinks and you drive away. Best of all, no one to tip!!! Beans are sourced from Stonecreek, which is a favorite of mine. Dairy products are local as well. The iced latte I ordered had bold coffee flavors and richness from the milk. I will be back to try others!!! read more

Speedy coffee using a slick app! Order ahead, pull in to the drive thru, scan the QR code and your drinks will be ready (and labeled!) when you arrive because the app tracks your location to ensure your drink is ready upon arrival. As this is a new location, it was staffed to help those who drove up who hadn't ordered via the app. Coffee beans used are our local favorite Stone Creek Coffee which was a great draw for us to give Octane a whirl. I opted for a shaken iced latte with sweet foam and it wasn't lacking in the coffee taste but not quite as sweet as I prefer. I do like the caffeine content provided on the app to help me choose just how much extra energy I need. The app also allows me to choose different sweeteners, milks and the sweet foam. Although sweet, the sweet foam here didn't have a creamy mouthfeel & more airy than a coffee shop so I'm guessing it was from a can. Octane was fast and would be a good option for those wanted to grab a quick cup of coffee, latte or tea. The only potential bottleneck I can see will be the people who haven't been here before but there are two lanes with a large screen providing clear instructions on how to navigate the process (QR code included for app download). Stopped by twice during their opening week to try their drinks and see how a barista-less coffee station works. The drive thru has two lanes, one for people to pull over to order on their phone and one for people who already ordered. You need to download their app, no browser orders, and then it uses your phones GPS to detect your close to start making your order. This ordering system makes sense since there's no workers, but maybe having a touch screen with credit card reader would open it up for older or less tech savvy customers. Once you arrive you scan the QR code at the window and it opens one of three bays with your drink. The machine prints your name and drink title on the cup, which is slick! Overall the Chai Tea Latte was my favorite and the Churronimo was great too. Only thing I didn't like was the lack of nutritional information online, but I think it's because they're a smaller business that they don't have this info available. read more

Awesome idea. Quick and fast. Owner was on site just to make sure everything operating properly or if you had questions but it's all automated. Cool thing for me is you can pick a high window or lower window. I drive a truck so that's a nice feature. Coffee was delicious. Love to support local shops. I'll definitely be back. read more
