Cardinale Way in my opinion is the worst dealership that I have done business with. They sold me a 2015 Tahoe, $40,000 car, 4 months ago, and I already have a dead ac. Called to see if they could help and they were refusing because I didn't buy an extended warranty. They suck don't go there. In addition to the ac. My dome lights where flashing every time I would brake or signal. Went in to have it looked at and told me I had to go else where because they don't repair those kind of issues. They also sold me the car with broken usb drivers. That is the ONLY thing they fixed. Don't do business with these people. read more

I would certainly be skeptical of the service department. They do not loan up to anything. Oil has been changed from this dealer from new. The lower engine shroud was dragging on the ground so I removed it and found all the bolts loose. They told me they couldn't help me out since it was several months since the oil change. When you take your car in for service they will come up with several service items that aren't necessary. Had a couple of other reputable autoshops check the items and said the car was excellent condition and no other repairs needed at this time. read more

AWFUL experience. My mom and I went to several dealerships one day and Cardinaleway Mazda was the WORST. The guys were pushy... seriously 3 guys coming at us at once. Then they showed me every car on the lot besides a Mazda. They wanted to talk about financing before I even test drove a car! I told them I wasn't interested in financing and that's all they talked about. They showed me a Lincoln and Mercury like I am some 70 year old grandma. I have bought two cars from this dealer and have also sent two people in to buy cars. My experience was not bad but I was supposed to be getting two $100 referral check for the two people I sent. Never got my first check but that was a few years ago. But this last person I sent in was almost a year ago and I still have yet to see a check. I call every other week to check up on it and I'm always getting another excuses why I have not received my check. Here is just a few of them: manager had a heart attach, check printing machine is broke, lost in the mail, haven't had time, check writing department is closed for the day, and more. Excuse after excuse. I'm sick of it and will never be back. Stinks for them being that I buy a new car every few years and have been loyal to Mazda for my last three. Looks like I'll be going to Berge Mazda. If your curious who I've been dealing with it is Al Lanz and Thomas Michael but I'd avoid this dealership all together. They are horrible and full of lies. I agree with what others have posted regarding this dealership. I saw the add on Craigslist and went down to the dealership to look at the vehicle. They apparently did not to an inspection because I got the car with a car wash and oil change. Never did they inspect the pathfinder. I have called the dealership to get the extended warranty information and no call back. I have taken this car to an actual Nissan dealership and I have had all sorts of problems. In the finance room I was talked into services/warranties that do nothing. I was totally scammed in the finance room and paid way over what the car was actually worth. read more

I recently needed to buy an economical car as a third vehicle in our household for my mother-in-law to drive. After doing research online, we decided to shop for a Mazda3 5 door. At first we went to another Mazda dealer in Mesa who also sells Fords, but did not like the way we were treated. When we went to CardinaleWay Mazda, we were treated with respect and one of the managers, Greg Limbeck helped us figure out how to register and insure the vehicle so that it was OK for me to buy it, and my M-I-L to drive it. Here's the real kicker, we bought the car on Saturday and the following Tuesday Greg called and asked us if we would get upset if the financing was lowered from 8% to 6% APR... We went back to the dealership and it was no trick, the APR was reduced and we were able to shorten the contract terms with very little increase in payment. Plus they were able to finance and register the car with my M-I-L on all the docs so that the insurance is easier than last time. All in all, CardinaleWay Mazda treated us better than when we bought our last vehicle, a new Cadillac at another dealership and it has been the best car buying experience we have had in a long, long time. read more

I have nothing good to say about my car buying experience outside of the salesman (Jarrett) who I worked with. Three managers offered conflicting information during the three days I spent over Memorial Day weekend trying to buy a car. I was treated by the managers as though I weren't smart enough to figure out what they were doing. And I felt like if I were a man they would have treated me very differently. At one point, after spending hours and hours in the showroom trying to work a deal, we finally agreed upon an offer and I was told I could come back the next day and do the paperwork. Instead, one of the managers called me Memorial Day evening while I was in a grocery store shopping for dinner for my son and told me that if I didn't come in that night then the deal was off. I felt so pressured and harassed since we had already agreed I would come in the next day. In addition, I never met the general manager, Donny Mortier, and was told he would call me immediately after my purchase to check in and hear about my grievances. Not only did Donny never call, but he ignored my numerous attempts to contact him. After I filed a complaint with Mazda corporate, he said he refused to contact me at all. I had never owned a Mazda before and could have used some further help once I left the lot after buying the car. But I was completely ignored. I'm assuming that this is how Mazda treats women during the car-buying experience because I am confident that had I been a man I would never have been treated with such disrespect. Because of this experience, I will never buy a Mazda again. read more

The Story of my disillusionment: This was the 2nd car I've bought from CardinaleWay. The first wasn't bad, and we ended up with a fair deal buying our new Mazda3. The second time a week ago left a bad taste in my mouth. I was expecting an honest dealership because they bill themselves as exactly that. You can decide based on my experiences below: - We started dealing on a new Mazda3 Touring. From the beginning the deal included getting the NAV chip. This was over 2 days of dealing, so there was never any question on that. - They gave some ground on price and eventually said they were at the very lowest they could go for the car and as well as the value on our trade-in. I had worked with a local competitor who gave an internet price that was pretty competitive. CardinaleWay was $1000 above. I eventually told them we would check out that competitor since they had given a more competitive number. When they found out they were that much off, Brian went to the sales mgr who promptly dropped the price $1k. - We agreed to go with that price and signed the initial agreement. - We went to empty out the car we traded in, and I decided to just make sure we were aligned since I couldn't remember if the NAV chip actually showed up on the agreement ($400 option). When I asked Brian, he said, "of course it is," which made sense since it had always been part of the deal. - One minute later, Brian came out and said the sales mgr "couldn't" go any lower, and they had to put an extra $400 into the price. My wife and I talked about it for a couple of minutes in private and decided to let another dealer try for our business. That's when Brian came back out as I was walking in to let him know, and he said the mgr OK'd putting in the NAV chip for the original agreed price. We agreed to move forward with the deal. - When we went in with Chris to sign the paperwork, the final number was essentially the same as agreed on the original paper (they had taken the paper, and I hadn't gotten a copy from them). My wife asked Chris about our existing car's REGISTRATION CREDIT that we would get back. He showed us that he indeed had taken care of that (~$147) and included it in the final numbers. - We realized as we drove home that the agreed number should have been ~$147 (plus tax) LESS than the agreed price. I called them as soon as I arrived home and ended up making 3-4 calls (one that evening and 2-3 the next day) to try to understand why they added in an "TOTAL AFTERMARKETS" charge which had never been discussed, nor was it part of the original signed agreement. - Brian responded when I asked him about this that he had nothing to do with working those numbers, and I needed to talk w/Chris. - 4 phone calls later, I reached Chris who responded that he only took the numbers he was given from the sales mgr and plugged them in. - Chris didn't get back with me after the promised "10-15 minutes" when he talked w/the sales mgr. - 6 hours later, I finally drove there to get a copy of the original signed agreement (because it did NOT contain that charge) and have them explain how the $140 ended up on our final agreement. - When I got there, I found Brian who agreed I was right and sent me to Chris who wrote up new paperwork w/o the "aftermarket" charge. Chris took all the blame saying he had somehow accidentally put that number into the aftermarkets section while filling out our contract. Here is why I'm suspicious: - If he has really accidentally done that, the charge would have been the registration credit we got from our trade-in, which was $147.63...not $140. - The $140 when accounting for the tax, included ended up equaling within about one dollar of our original agreement. If aftermarkets charge had been $147+, then we would have become suspicious because the amount would have been $10-15 off from the original number. - We ended up getting $151.28 back from them based on the original $140 aftermarket charge (which included the 7.8% tax rate). - The process to get that credit back was a big hassle in itself, and they did NOT make it easy; I really got the feeling I was "prying it from their cold dead fingers" as the saying goes. Beyond that, they got the VIN# wrong on our trade-in, and I ended up having to drive into the dealership yet another time to sign all of the paperwork yet again (3rd time). This was an honest mistake by Brian, and I don't hold it against him, but it was a hassle. TAKE-AWAYS: - ALWAYS go to multiple dealerships to get their best prices. NEVER assume the dealer is as low as he can go. - Remember your trade-in will have a car registration credit. This number is NOT part of your deal with them. This is your money! - I suppose CardinaleWay is just another dealer willing to say anything to make the sale and willing to be a little let's call it "un-honest" in their dealings. Sigh. - Get copies of the agreements & the proposed numbers from them. WRITE DOWN everything! read more

Poor doesn't explain how disgusting my experience was at this Cardinale Way Mazda in Mesa!!!!! I went down to the dealership to buy a Mazda 3. I was prepared to drive off the lot today Apr 10, 2013. Unfortunately, I met the sales rep. Chris M. He and I had some miss communication in the process of looking for a car. This can happen all the time. However, instead helping me understand he got such attitude and told me to get the F%$K off "his" lot. One second later he was posturing at me and preparing to fight. I'm such an easy going individual, but Chris had me ready to defend myself physically. With my wife and kids and now the manager speaking to me, He was still swearing and posturing using every colorful word you can think of. Super obvious misrepresentation, which wasn't dealt with when the manager was confronted with the evidence. UPDATE: apology and they admitted I was right, after I left bad reviews. My husband and I found a great car that we really liked and wanted to buy. It was late at night and we had to get home to relieve the babysitter, so we promised to be by the next morning. That night I did a little bit of double checking research (edmunds, kbb, etc.) and discovered their price was high, despite their verbal guarantee that they had the lowest or second lowest price on any car in the state. This made me curious, so I did a little more research and discovered that the Pathfinder for sale was labeled/priced as a "2010 Nissan Pathfinder LE," which is the higher end version of a Pathfinder (lots of bells & whistles). The car was obviously a "2010 Pathfinder S," the lower end Pathfinder. Photos, internet research, and official "features" listings absolutely proved it. I mean, this car had no 2010 LE bells & whistles, it was the "S" (lower end) version by every account I could research. I really liked the salesman, Matt, that we dealt with, and so I assumed that it could have been an honest mistake. I called Matt and explained my hesitation, and told him the evidence and where he could see/read the evidence for himself. He said he'd talk to the manager and get back to me. Turns out the manager not only refused to admit a mistake, but didn't change anything to reflect the truth. Despite blatant evidence that they are misrepresenting the car, they denied and refused. It felt like they didn't want to hear "bad news," so they intentionally brushed it aside. I still wanted to buy the car! I just wanted a price fair to what the car actually was! Admit your mistake, even if it was an honest mistake. Or even just apologize and re-label/price the car for what it really is. Honestly, I still want the car, I just wish it was a honest company that had it for sale. UPDATE: The manager called after realizing I'd left bad reviews, and apologized. He told me the VIN number (when typed into their database) pulled up the higher end version, so he took the car to a Nissan dealership to have it inspected so he could "prove me wrong." He admitted that it was indeed the S (lower end) model and apologized. They re-priced and re-listed the car correctly. I'm still a little miffed that I wasn't taken seriously, and that obvious evidence was brushed aside, until I complained publicly. read more

After owning a vehicle through them for 2 years, i traded it in and cancelled the gap insurance, with an expectation of receiving the check 6-8 weeks later. after about 10 weeks, i called the gap company and they stated i should have had my check at the end of july. call mazda back and speak with the accounting department (after calling 5 times, leaving 2 voicemails which i never got a call back on), lady lost the check under her paperwork and forgot about it. fast forward a week later when my check arrives, suddenly its $200 short. ask why the check is so short and theres a magical fee associated with it from 2015 that no one ever decided to advise me about. overall bad experience with these people. take your buisness else where. read more

A spark plug broke in my Miata out in the middle of nowhere. Took it to Cardinale the next day and they got right on it and had it up and running in no time. Really took time to go over the engine and check everything out. It sounds great - runs smoother than it has in a long time. I now realize that the spark plug had probably been going bad for a long time - but I didn't know it. I just thought the rough idling was a normal part of a 7 year old Miata. So why didn't the other dealer nearby ever catch it? The car has been there twice in the last year for oil changes and they never said anything. But they couldn't identify a road noise as being a bad wheel bearing either. But Cardinale did and I'm switching to them permanently for Miata maintenance and repairs. I had the worst experience ever with this dealership!! Everyone was so unprofessional and rude. The financial director was so bad, she was yelling at me telling me that she wouldn't give me the deal because they were losing money on the vehicle. The sales rep was texting me for a couple days and told me to come in because everything was good to go, but when I got there and waited for a few hours, I ended up leaving with no vehicle. Due to all the miscommunication between all the staff there. It was so bad!! I wouldn't recommend anyone to come here! These are the guys giving used car salesmen their bad name - the sales team was dishonest throughout the car buying process. Avoid CardinaleWay Mazda and visit one of the many other Valley dealerships if you are in the market for a car. Like all cars salesmen, their sales process is designed to wear you down and convince you to pay more money and buy more add-ons. CardinaleWay Mazda has perfected this process - if you walk in there, be prepared to witness a classic example of the long con job. Let me present to you the fine art of selling a used car, CardinaleWay style. Step 1. Assess the customer. What are they most worried about? Finding a cheap vehicle? Qualifying for a loan? The potential costs of repairing and maintaining a used car? Whatever it is, they have the con for you. For me, it was the potential repair and maintenance costs. If you visit, perhaps you'll get a different show. Step 2. Decide which car you'd like to sell. Lie and casually let slip that the lower-priced vehicle under consideration was brought into the shop with mismatched wheels. Give the Service department their turn to lie - of course this vehicle doesn't actually need the recommended 30k maintenance. Just for fun, lie and claim that the car would come with one free oil change. Step 2a. Pressure the customer. Lie and say that someone else is interested in the car and it's race to see who can sign fastest. Step 3. Set the customer up. Lie and state that the car has time and millage left on the original transferable warranty - without the service records, it has no such thing. Lie and state the online price - which was the fair retail book value for a certified vehicle - does not include the Certified Pre-Owned Certification. Lie and state that the Certified Pre-Owned Certification warranty would cover the car for seven years after the original warranty ended - when it fact it begins on the original sales date of the car when it was purchased new. Forget the car - this sale has become all about the warranties. Step 4. Prep the customer for the finance department. Have them sign a random piece of paper with their offer on it. Have them sign a second piece of paper with the loan terms you think you can get for them. Sure, these signatures mean nothing, but they might not know that. Intermission. Let the poor exhausted customer relax in your lobby while the paperwork is prepared; offer to buy them coffee; chat with them about their work; let them think the hard part of the day is over. Don't leave them alone or they might decide that they don't want to deal with such obvious liars. Act 2. The finance department. Step 5. Set the customer at ease. Let the customer know that their hard work is almost over, have them sign all of the easy paperwork. Review the terms of the loan and the monthly payment. Step 6. Sell the hideously overpriced extended warranty that's practically identical to the certified pre-owned certification warranty. This has been the goal of the entire process. Let the customer know that you can offer them a product that will cover their car from bumper to bumper and that will last as long as the certified pre-owned coverage (building on the earlier lie that this coverage starts today rather than three years ago.) This bumper-to-bumper coverage will, of course, not cover the actual bumpers, or the seals, or belts, or trim, or body, or seats, or much of anything that isn't covered by the certified pre-owed coverage. Hide the cost of this additional coverage not only by stating the cost in terms of the monthly payment - an unfortunate industry standard, but by simultaneously changing the terms of the loan. Compare the monthly cost for a 72 month loan without the warranty to the monthly cost for an 84 month loan. If you get caught doing this because you also changed interest rate on the loan, then no worries. Simply quote the monthly for a 75 month loan at the agreed upon interest rate. The brain-fried customer is unlikely to realize just how much of the cost of the useless, misrepresented warranty is hidden in those extra three months. End Game. When the now well-rested customer calls the next day (a Sunday) to ask whether you might like to make a happy customer out of an upset customer by dropping the warranty before sending the loan paperwork off to the bank, hang up the phone as soon as the word "warranty" leaves their mouth. Do not call back. You've sold them an outrageously expensive and useless product and you know it. If they don't want it, then they'll have to figure out how to cancel it on their own. Final Analysis. If you would like to gamble your hard-earned money by matching wits against some pro conmen, then CardinaleWay Mazda is the place for you. Otherwise, go elsewhere. Buying a car is never fun, but at least most dealerships are staffed by relatively honest salesmen that will try to sell you a product on its merits rather than by lying about it. read more

Can't say enough about our experience purchasing a used car at Cardinale Way Mazda. Our sales person Justin or Jason (sorry can't remember) listened to us and was not pushy. The car was priced below blue book and although I tried my best negotiating skills, they do not negotiate price. But they are priced to sell. Kind of a relief not to have to go back and forth. After 2 weeks the air conditioning went out. I took it in and Gary the service manager was amazing. They gave me a loaner and replaced the condenser with no charge at all. Another week later after driving the car to Colorado with my daughter who was moving there and keeping the car there, the air went out again. We took it into a Dealer there and I also called Gary at Cardinale way again. Turns out there was a pin hole leak in a hose and a few other things. Cardinale Way stepped up and paid for the repairs at the Colorado dealer and got my daughter back on the road. I am very impressed that they backed up their sale with service. The charges at the other dealer in CO were over 500.00 and they took care of it without question. We will be buying our next car there for sure. Thank you! read more

I purchased a CX5 from them and was overall pleased with the purchase. I'm paying extra money monthly for road side assist. DON'T PAY FOR IT! My wife was driving the CX5 with our two sons, one 3 years old and one 5 months old. The engine didn't sound right, so she pulled over. She called for road side assistance and they said it would be an hour and a half. She waited 2 hours, they said it would be 15 more minutes. She waited 45 minutes more minutes and called to see what was going on. They said 15 more minutes. She waited another 45 minutes before calling again. This time they said it would be an hour!!! Baby is freaking out and we can't leave the car because you have to be there to sign..... Eventually they show up. I complain there and they say there is a phone number that I can call to leave feedback. I call 1-800-222-5500 and the voice says that the expected wait time is 45 minutes. Sorry Mazda, you have wasted enough of my time! read more

WORST service EVER!! Paid CASH for a brand new MAZDA 3 @ Moore Mazda....that salesman was beyond rude, argued with me about title, AND I WAS CORRECT, which in turn cost even more money to correct title. Therefore we went to this place for the factory services. The most recent service @15,000 mile ($$$$) included a tire repair. As in a screw left in and simply patched over! Tire is now non repairable due to improper patch they did that WAS NOT UP TO INDUSTRY STANDARDS. (Yes, I have that in writing from the place we had to turn to for a new tire.) 2 months later my daughter needed her tire fixed yet again and found out what this service department did. We now have to purchase a new tire all due to this dealers crappy service. BTW, after owning 3 Mazda's, expect the Bridgestone tires to wear out at or prior to 20,000 miles. Mazda corp. knows this and tells you "well, we can give you a little credit towards new Bridgestone tires." Ah huh, who would pay that kind of money for tires that are rated for 50,000+ miles and don't???!! The service manager was beyond rude and horrid when speaking with my daughter. Inexcusable! Clearly they've now lost our and our extended families service and vehicle purchasing business. I'd import a car before ever dealing with this place again! Rating beyond poor! read more

I bought a car from this dealership about 2 years ago. It was by far the worst experience I have ever had at a dealership I told my self I would never go back....... Welp the time came to get my new soon to be wife a new car, She wanted a Mazda. I Went in to look at trading a current car in and getting a 2015 CX-5, No plans at all of buying same day. The sale person Madison was wonderful very kind and easy to work with, Came up with numbers that would still meet mine, and my soon to be wife's budget. Everything went very good until the final paper work went to financing. We told the dealership that we would be putting zero down and they were ok with that. So 3 hours later we went into financing and this $1,300 needed to be put down to make the deal happen because one of the very rude finance guys "messed up" the original paperwork and put someone else's information into our new loan. So now I've wasted 3 hours of my day, been lied too and also didn't get the new car the soon to be wife wanted. I have purchased many cars through Nissan, Dodge, Kia and most resent 2 weeks ago Toyota and all the buying experiences have been great! Once again this Mazda dealership was a complete joke and waste of my time. I would rather put $3,000 down on this car at a different dealership then ever having to go back to CardinaleWay Mazda. read more

Just over a year ago, my wife and I were shopping for a car. We did our due diligence and prepared. Credit was good, had a down payment, knew what cars we wanted to look at and compare, and knew exactly what our budget was. Over the course of a week, we sat in and drove every car on our list except for one, the Mazda6. We stopped in at More Mazda in Tempe and were met in the parking lot by a salesperson. We explained that we were shopping and comparing and what we wanted to look at. He led us to a 6. When we told him our budget his tone became abrupt and somewhat annoyed, this after telling us that "it's not going to happen, maybe a 3, not a 6". Ok, we shook hands and left. A week later we met Darlene L. at Cardinale Way. She got us into a one year old 6 ITouring sedan with tech package for exactly what we wanted to spend. Fast forward to last weekend. Our other car took a very unexpected dump. Off to Cardinale Way we go. Dealt with Darlene, once again, and left with a beautiful white CX9 ITouring. A bit over budget, but given the no hassle experience, this was not a problem. We highly recommend the entire team at Cardinale. And we highly recommend that you ask for Darlene, you won't regret it. read more

AWFUL PLACE! Bought a car from here in February. Car had been in an accident prior to selling to my husband and not on a car fax or reported. Brought car in to a shop for tune up and fluids and come to find out they sold us a car that needed over $4k in repair from some sort of accident. The "warranty" was crap (and of course it is an in house warranty so expect crap service, expect crap warranty and repair) not to mention Since we bought the car in February, I haven't been able to drive the car for almost 2 months now. This dealership is shady! They have the worst customer service and service department. Their "service department manager" straight up told my husband because I was unhappy from the very beginning (and why wouldn't I be they sold a broken car to us!) that he wasn't going to do anything for me. They told me and the guy at the previous shop they would cover half the cost of what it would for me because of the inconvenience then told my husband and me they never said anything like that. I have bought 2 cars from this dealership now. My first experience was great so i returned. My original salesman was no longer there, but Damon was great. I no idea what type of car I wanted, I was open to everything from and SUV to a sports car. Damon was very patient and let us test drive everything we wanted. Then I saw my car, I had seen the Subaru BRZ on the road and fell in love with it. It must be fate that there is one with low miles almost new at my dealership and in the color I wanted. We stayed for almost 2 hours trying to get the price where we were comfortable, but it didn't happen. About 2 weeks later we needed a car now, we returned to Cardinale Way and the car was still there. Damon got the deal done! We were in and out in no time (after all, I was expecting to spend my day there) We had a dust storm that night and Damon even offered to wash the car the following week after the storm had passed. We searched online for cars for our daughter. Printed the ads and went to the dealerships. Cardinaleway Mazda had a used Subaru Forester listed. We contacted the dealership, went out and test drove the car. Chris told us they would match any price another dealer would offer. When I showed Chris the print out (by the way Cardinaleway ad) he said it couldn't be that price, that's too low. Sorry but he couldn't honor the price. So what happened to "matching the prices?" He left to talk to the manager. He could come down on the price a little but that meant he could not fix the scratches on the front bumper. He could however get me some paint to cover it. We ended up purchasing the car. There were a few details that still needed to be taken care of before we picked up the car. He told me he would order the paint that day to fix the scratches, and it would be in by Wednesday at the latest and we could pick up the paint when we picked up the car. We picked up the car a week later, no paint. The items we asked to be fixed, were not. He told me we would get a letter in the mail in about 3 months to remind us of a free oil change (part of the deal) and the car would be detailed then. He would deliver the paint to us personally when it arrived. I called Chris several times regarding the paint, he would stall me by saying "let me check with those guys in the service department and I'll call you back" needless to say he did not call me back. Now on to the people in the document department. Friendly service, I think not. I'm paying them my hard earned money and they were abrasive and rude. Folks, if you have a choice about buying a car, don't stop here. The letter for the oil change? Never got it. No big surprise. read more
