They took a lunch break and left each day by 3pm! One day, I saw that they were using my extension cord that they'd taken from my garage without asking! Umm bring your own equipment please or at least ask to borrow. Only one of them could speak broken English. They were scared of my dog so I HAD to be home while they were working. It was ridiculous. Their drywall skills were pathetic and tape and muddying looked like my preschool kids did it. When I would show Rick their shoddy work he would had them correct it but it was over and over and over. Their paint work was poor. Parts of the floor tile had to be removed and replaced. We found The ductwork was left unhooked up and ceiling tiles right over unfinished ductwork. I would not recommend and I will never use again. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY as they hire non English speaking men who do do not know how to do interior construction work. Egress window leaked too

We received quotes from a dozen contractors and none of them could stick to our budget. Rick provided some solutions that would help us stay under budget and still have a really nice space. It is now the BEST space in the house. We will be calling on Rick again for our next renovation. We had a one-year-old at the time of renovation and it was in the middle of the Covid 19 Pandemic. Rick and his team were incredible with checking on us and letting us know in advance how our day might be disrupted by the work. They were considerate of sound levels when he was napping and so courteous of our home life, which we were still adjusting to ourselves. This showed us a lot about the character of Premier 1 Properties. They care about the quality of their work, but they also care about their customers and their experiences during renovations.

The last thing I wanted to do is a roof. Luckily, this one has maybe a few years left. With that said, that means things need to be buttoned up to get it through. I asked a friend or mine who is a realtor also, and we were property managers here in Chicago for a recommendation, she has clients in STL as well as her own properties. Without hesitation, she told me to call Tim at Prrotect. Why this history, it's to illustrate between the two of us, we've done many repairs, roofs, and have dealt with many roofing contractors. We set up a meeting and went over what I needed for the immediate future, some shingle replacement here, flashing sealant there, oh yeah what animal chewed a hole in the fascia so a repair there, also a couple of additional downspouts. I also decided to get some gutter guards for my interior atrium, I'll do the rest when they do the roof. Scheduling was easy, and they'll text you ahead of time. They're tech savvy, you can sign your proposal electronically, schedule and pay online. I like this since I'm not a fan of putting a check in the mail.

I asked if the wood on our deck could be saved. Immediate no (even though he said current store wood is worse quality than when this deck was built as a means to emphasize the benefits of composite at an earlier point in the convo). Made me feel guilty for being honest that we would be getting a couple of bids to compare. I was being honest to say that we were trying to do due diligence. His attitude changed and he emphasized at multiple points after that the free work he was doing by giving me an estimate. Their business model is to come into your home and provide pictures and product samples and then write up the quote then and there. I just wanted a guy to come out, look, and email me the quote. Instead it was a lengthy process . Seemed like an old-style sales approach. Also, they wanted both owners to be home and he seemed annoyed that it was just me...but we literally just wanted a quote, so no my spouse was not going to take off work for an estimate. Overall just weird energy and a strange experience! In fact he had to rip out the work done by the previous two contractors. I really wish I had found Fowler Garage Door Service from the very beginning. If I had 12 more garage doors, I would hire Bill to do all 12 of them. They ripped off all of my door trim/casing and sat in their trucks for *90 MINUTES* without a word. Came back: "we have a problem". The brickmold is a quarter inch off - the manufacturer (ProVia) has a software problem and even though we gave them the correct measurements... blah blah, whatever. So, wait two weeks to get the corrected brickmold. Fine, stuff happens. 03/05! Called them 03/06. Guess what? STILL WRONG! No apologies, no anything. Wait two more weeks, no biggie, this is the way stuff works. March 20 it is! NOPE! March 16 and get an email that the manufacturers internet is down. No idea what that has to do with anything... how many times can you fail a customer and just tell them to wait two more weeks? Anyway, now I'm scheduled for April! Of what year I have no idea. Pathetic.

We had a positive experience with Conner from Cardinal Home Improvements. There was storm damage in the neighborhood and ours was minor but the original builder grade roof was showing age. We were not planning to purchase a roof but wanted to get the information on a new roof since we were going to need it replaced eventually. Cardinal was in the neighborhood and we agreed to a meeting. The sales presentation was extensive and we were impressed by the quality of the elements that went into their roof product. I had done some research on pricing since others in the neighborhood had theirs replaced and with the incentives we got from Conner we decided to go ahead with the project. They use high grade materials and warranty their work. Also, they are a local St. Louis company unlike the out of town companies that came and went. Conner followed up after the sale as well to make sure we were happy with the roof for the price we paid. We have no regrets and confident the roof we bought will last a very long time. read more

We purchased Lindsay triple pane krypton low e coated gas filled windows for our whole house. 20 windows plus a patio door. At first I was just impressed with how great the windows looked and the ease of use and cleaning. We have had the windows since March. It is now June 16th and we have not had to turn on our air conditioner. We keep the windows closed and it is amazing how the heat stays out of the house and hot sun does not beat in the windows. We do put on an attic fan at night and open the windows. We also purchased a 3/4 decorative glass steel entry door. The quality is great. Our installers were very professional. We had two small glitches with the windows, Cardinal followed up at every level of our install. Lindsay window representative came out promptly and fixed the small issue. We took fence bids from four different companies in the St Louis/St Charles area and Cardinal had the lowest bid for the best aluminum fence. The salesman was very professional and listened to our needs and wants. The installation took one day, the crew was very efficient, and they left the yard in immaculate condition. You could not tell they had been on the property, but we now had a gorgeous black aluminum fence. The fence is very high quality and the self closing gate is wonderful. Our dogs love the freedom, our child loves the safety, and we love the look of the fence with our landscaping. We had a cedar deck installed by Cardinal Home Improvements May 2014. We were told that they could get started on the deck in 4-6 weeks. They were ready with the materials, permitting and crew by 4 weeks and they completed the deck in 1.5 days! Just in time for the weekend. We did not need to be home at all for them to be able to work. They were easy to deal with, returned phone calls, answered all questions. It is well made with all safety standards in place, they recommended the best way to build and save money. The salesperson was very knowledgeable about low maintenance materials but for this project we went with cedar. I recommend them to anyone wanting to build a deck. read more

From someone who was employed in residential construction, I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and craftsmanship of the window install. This company then attempted to over charge with added labor per his contract to 5 different areas in a very small laundry room (4×7'). Price to put up 4 pieces of wood on the wall from Target store $415.19 .00 price + labor. Labor for trim and panel $276.38 Labor for vinyl flooring + material that I already paid for. $744.54 room size w 7.125x9.08 Labor to install cabinets $566.25 3 cabinets totally $3,150.00 498.00 To paint the wall for this very small room. Thoroughly 5 cans of paint he wanted $2,750.00 This totally for this small room came out to be $10,172.99 and Jeremy Phillips at Strong Arm remodeling and construction, pun intended strong armed me for $2,086.50. I gave Jeremy half the money to start the job and when I called him the day before regarding my receipt and to question him about my contract he started asking me about a job that my husband did on the garage that I originally got a bid for him on which had absolutely nothing to do with my laundry room. However, with us being health care professionals we weren't home to have the job done on the garage anyway. We were both deployed for work. As with this guy, he never follownoed up and now he wants to tell me this is why he is charging me a restocking fee on a contract I never signed regarding my garage. Nevertheless, as for the work on my laundry room, that will be a DIY project too because business owners like Jeremy Phillips sheds a negative light amongst many businesses especially independents. Also, he treated me like I didn't have options and then he had the nerves to say several time he was trying to help us out while trying to over charge us. There is really something to be said about business owners that see the customer as wrong regardless of the of the third rate treatment they bestow upon the customer. I would highly recommend using a company other than Strong Arm for any home improvement or construction needs as per my terrible experience with such a lackluster and inconsiderate professionals if they can even be called such.

This small company was a nightmare to work with. The owner, and the only person i met face to…read moreface, was the reason. They took cash as a 50% deposit before they would order the materials. But they couldn't give me a receipt as they were in a "new office". So I had a hand written receipt that i wrote out, as i didn't trust giving cash with a promise of an emailed receipt. The emailed receipt still hadn't arrived by Monday. I asked for a copy of the material order to be emailled. They couldn't provide that and never did. I then tried to cancel everything and he refused to send me a check and wanted to discount his expenses for his time and costs. and have me come to him as he wasn't going to mail it. I felt bullied by him. Not wanting to risk losing my money, I apologized for not trusting him, and we agreed to proceed. Materials were delivered on time. Start date was moved back. Twice. Next start date was set for Columbus day and the only person who showed up was a drone person and he asked if the job was completed to my satisfaction. (There was zero work started and four crates of materials sitting on the sidewalk.) This person was oblivious to his surroundings. Thank God we had Mexicans show up the next day to do the real work. They did most of it but left trash, limbs and 8 inch ruts in the yard where the trailer was. What they didn't leave was about a third of the over bought shingles. Not a single piece was left behind to patch something in the future. They also didn't touch an overhang after one of the crew fell through it. It needed to be replaced. SG asked me if I knew a carpenter who could fix it? Huh? He later wrote me an estimate that involved $600 in shingles. The same shingles that I had already paid for. No thanks. It then took him a week and several excuses before the three bundles of shingles that I had paid for were delivered to me for someone else to repair the overhang. Don't ever pay anyone in cash. Don't ever pay everything until the job is completed. There are companies out there that will do that.

I called Tim the owner (who was not present during the install). He indicated he would be there in an hour. It was 4hrs later, he came and said he had to go get some adhesive. Two hours later (8:30) at night glued them back. On the next Monday, (my roof is now 10 days old), there were more tiles off. He said he would be there at 6:00pm. He did not show. On Tuesday I called and he said he would be there between 9:00am and 6:00pm as he would have to fit it in between "training". He was a no show, and no response to texts or calls. I tried to get a hold of him on Wednesday, and finally got him about 4:00pm. He said he was in the hospital since Monday night (when I talked to him Tuesday there was no mention of this). He said he would come by and look at it. He was a no show. Now he doesn't answer my calls or texts. Very unprofessional, poor quality, horrible communicator.

Overall, material was included in quote, he showed shared picture of fence options. Quote was invoiced and paid half in advance to work. Came to know that my sprinkler line is cut during the work, no inquiry about ground situation before beginning of the job . No big deal, I informed the business owner and asked him to keep going. He did fix the line later, I didn't get it checked yet....... The one side of my fence was not leveled by their crew as the corner is little sloppy; although my original wooden fence was leveled to ground. Again no issue, I can live with it. My issue is the really cheap quality of aluminum panels (very light) used in the fence (overall 49 feet linear length), although I inquired in the beginning and paid for at least good quality material (for around $65-70 you can get around 12-15 lb heavy 5-6 feet aluminum and other location during . Not only this, upon requesting him to share the fence material quote for making sure what quality and manufactures of material he used

Austin is very good at communication *****. The job consisted of replacing vinyl siding on two…read moresides of the garage. Austin did an excellent job of sourcing the matching color which had been discontinued by the manufacturer *****. Austin's subcontractors were hard to get to stay with the job and not accurate in the installation **. It was frustrating to get Austin to get subcontractors back out, and when they finally did come back, they corrected only one of the three problem areas *. This simple job has taken more than two weeks after materials were arrived, and I am still waiting for Austin to correct the remaining problem areas *.
