I scheduled a future day to have my amp and alarm installed. I was told it was 4 hours. I came back and after 2+ more hours waiting at the store, I'm writing this review, my car still not done. I dropped it off when they opened. They are knowledgable salespeople but that's what they do, sales. Not customer service friendly when they stack installs on top of each other and can't deliver a car when promised and I'm not the only one here with the same issue. Where to begin... Terrible experience. Issues still unresolved. Tried to give the car back to me after blowing a speaker, push start no longer worked, panels still hanging and disconnected, subwoofer not working, and feedback now coming through the speakers directly correlated to the level of throttle applied. I admittedly, stupidly paid while they were still working on the car. ALWAYS WAIT FOR FINISHED PRODUCT. After refusing initial delivery and forcing them to correct the issues, I still have feedback noise directly correlated to the gas pedal, and the sub doesn't work. They also re positioned my amps ever so slightly so that now I cannot recline the rear seats. Funny thing is, I took it to Car Toys because I told myself I need a professional job and I don't want to mess around. Ha! Oh, and they always mark up your price past the initial quote, "We need to install this doo-hicky" but I should have read other reviews to know that they always up sell you. Also, the quoted rate was not charged, they ended up quoting me to install 1 & 1/2 amps since they were right next to each other, but in the end charged for the installation of 2 amps anyway. Also their website lists their install rates (based upon thinner wire), for which I was charged twice the rate when they decided to install thicker wire and not even tell me that was taking place. Hand prints on my ceiling where the access panel was removed. I'm having to take the car down the road to Hogland's to actually get this done. Oh and after the technician got into my car and pushed the push start and drove it around back, the manager had the audacity to suggest that its possible that the remote start wasn't working BEFORE they started working on it but he'll do ME a solid and go ahead and fix it. HA! Would I be spending $1,200 for audio installation on a pile of junk? Most terrible experience I've had with a service shop, ever. So terribly disappointed. Save your money, and your sanity. Go to a smaller shop where they treat you as though you might be the last customer they'll ever have. Not just a number at Car Toys. read more

Update: Car Toys contacted me after my initial review to see if they couldn't meet my expectations...boy did they. They exceeded them! They checked all of the wiring, installed a higher quality stereo, moved the microphone for the Bluetooth and gave me a number to call if I have any problems. No more lost signal! I am back to being a lifetime customer!! Beyond frustrated...went in about three months ago with a stereo that wouldn't get a clear signal. They told me that my stereo needed to be replaced because the tuner in the one I had was bad. OK...so they sell me a new one. I have been back five times now with the same problems, but now after spending countless hours in their very uncomfortable waiting area, I am told it's "probably" just the antenna. ...and the new stereo's Bluetooth feature sucks to boot. Every time I make a call the other party can't hear me. Never again. read more

Don't ever have these guys install your system!! What a terrible experience. I have a 2016 Cadillac Escalade and went in to have them upgrade my system and build a custom box. First they sold me some garbage speakers and way over charged. On top of that they did not wire it correctly and it did not sound right at all I paid them over 6k for garbage. I ended up having to have my system rewired correctly somewhere else. If your smart you will stay far away from this place. read more

Recently had my car detailed here and took the express interior/exterior package. For 120$ I was expecting a much more thorough job than what was done. It really felt like this was rushed through and barely any attention to detail was made. I had to have them come out and wipe down my windows as they weren't done. There was residue all over the rear doors interior. Secondly I was called and let know that my car was ready for pick up. I also had to wait an additional 30 minutes because my car was blocked in their shop. When asked why it was taking so long, they couldn't bother to back up a truck blocking the entrance to the garage. I am extremely disappointed with the level of service and quality of the work. I don't know how they can justify charging that much for the minimal effort that was put into the cleaning. read more

Just picked my car up after having a new deck, stereo, amp, and all that jazz set up. I wish I knew the mans name who helped up today because he was AMAZING! I believe he was a manager but he worked with my boyfriend and I to figure out what would be best for our Passat. It was estimated a 6 hour job and only took 4, who wouldn't be happy with that? On top of it I thought my steering wheel volume was forever broken but they managed to make it work! Yay CarToys!! read more

Got my Subaru Outback detailed by Wil. He was professional and fast, total time was two hours, and even wiped down the outside of my car when I paid for the interior detail. Since my car was never cleaned professionally, (dealership didn't even detail it after I purchased used) I'm so excited to have what feels like a brand new car. Good front desk service. Crappy technical support audio installers. The installers Couldn't figure out my radios output sound. Bought a third party radio from amazon. Guy said my radio had a default or was broke. The real case was he couldn't figure it out. Oh well, I guess ill figure it out myslef. Dumb that they still charged me even though he couldn't figure it out. Felt like the audio installers really didn't care to help and could have probably figured something. I read all the bad reviews prior to writing this. And I've no doubt they reflect some disconnect, whether it be a failure to purchase an extended warranty, poor communication, or incompatible technologies. It just floors me how different my experiences have been. I've been to the Everett Car Toys now several times, as I keep upgrading. It is easy to spend money there and sound systems in general are a lot more expensive than I realized a few months ago when I started shopping. However, the prices at CT seem on par with many other outlets. The "extended" warranties are extra, but well worth the cost, because technology isn't perfect and things do break. I have found the technicians to be extremely competent. I've worked primarily with Eddie and his work is amazing. The sales staff, including April, Claudia, Fidel, Sam, and Anthony are all extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and patient. They tell me if they don't know something and then they find the answer. Here is what I've noticed about the technical expertise and customer service that others have called into question. When I have wanted to save costs and cut corners, the results have been less than ideal. When I listen to their recommendations and pay the extra cost for better components and more fully compatible and integrated systems, they perform ideally. I walked into Car Toys looking for a subwoofer and some after market speakers hoping to spend less than $1000. The system they recommended as closer to $2500, but we tried mid- to lower-end options and got acceptable results (far better than the factory system). I then decided to with their original recommendations and upgrade the speakers, which is when I encountered an issue with the factory stereo's bluetooth default volume settings. The solution, even according to Subaru, was upgrading the stock stereo to aftermarket. At this point, I was tired of trying to save money while expecting high-end results. After asking the staff what they would put in their cars, I bought a Pioneer AVIC-8000 NEX head unit for the previously installed two Alpine front SRP-60C speakers, two rear SRP-60 speakers, 8" JL subwoofer, and switched out a mid-level Alpine amp for a JL Audio HD900/5 5 Channel Class D Amplifier. I could have gone all out for a set of Focal speakers and tweeters (+$2,000), but I wanted to give the Alpine R-series a try. So far they have not disappointed. I'm also Dynamating the entire vehicle, less for audio quality and more for phone conversations. That is, in my opinion, a ridiculously expensive system coming in at $7,500. However, that isn't anyone's fault. It's just what amazing sound systems cost. So if you walk into Car Toys expecting to pay less than $1,000 for a $5,000 to $10,000 system, then yes, you might be disappointed. It may be as simple as "you get what you pay for." I have no complaints and I've learned to trust the staff. They're awesome. read more

I bought a stereo and speakers here about a month ago and an really happy with my purchase! The staff was very helpful and easy to work with...and did not try to sell me something I didn't want. The price was very good, and installation was about what I expected to pay. After install, the manager spent about 20 min with me in the car making sure it worked and that I was completely satisfied. Honestly, I know this place had some negative reviews and I asked about that...they were aware and said they recently got a new manager and are really focused on good customer service. I have to say...that turned out to be very true from my experience. I even got a little detail work done while I was waiting...didn't cost much. I would definitely come back here again. read more

I had my Subaru Legacy detailed at the Everett Car Toys location by Wil. He is fantastic at his job! He thoroughly explained what packages were purchased (interior and exterior detail with the headlight detail). He did his review with me before and after the service, very professional. I felt bad bringing this car in, with grease worn spots on leather, nasty kid crud in between seats and just plan old neglect. He made me feel like it wasn't a big deal at all, took my keys and got to work. I haven't seen this car look this good ever, even better than when we bought it. Thanks Wil! Went into the Everett location today & asked if they could install some HID headlight bulbs in my 07 Mercedes. Thru conversing with the representative we discovered that the bulbs I had may be the incorrect size. To which I replied OK I can get a pair of the H7's, how much will it cost to get them swapped out? The representative asked me to wait while he checked with his installation manager. He came back & said "You'll have to take it to Mercedes" I replied, to change a bulb? He replied "yea cause you might have to take the bumper off"... Nether of these clowns even looked at the car... I replied, I know for a fact that you don't have to take the bumper off, you do in order to change the entire lens which I just had done, I just want to swap the Low-k bulb for a higher-k bulb? He replied, well "he won't touch it"... This was a manager's answer.... This "manager" either didn't understand the question or is completely ignorant. Regardless he sent a customer out the door for something he was clueless about. These are some ignorant people, I wouldn't take a bicycle to them. read more

Here's an updated version of my previous review. If I could give this place negative stars I would. After the debacle with installing my car, it worked fine for about 6 months then the door wouldn't unlock with the fob. My father in law removed the door panel and everything was wrong. They cut up my door on the inside to make room for the mechanic, didn't mount the mechanic on the other door, and it swung around in my door. They also messed up the length so that the lock didn't work. I will never go here again. read more

Too bad I have to give this company even ONE star. I was conned into buying an after-market stereo when the stock receiver in the vehicle kept cutting out. They checked it out and insisted the unit was going bad. (Turns out it was just a loose antenna connection.) When the connection for the new receiver went bad again, I returned to get it fixed. There would be a minimum $30 charge to do so because they had no record of my purchase. The "new", installed stereo mounting eventually got so loose in the dash that it required several matchbook covers to shim it and regain firm contacts. When that failed to keep the radio working, I got NO satisfaction from ANY of the commission-hungry sales people. I felt like they thought I was trying to get something for nothing. All I wanted them to do was fix the shoddy installation they performed. No dice. Without a record for the purchased receiver, they would do nothing. Their installation/shop costs are way too high ($80 more that the receiver!). DON'T BELIEVE THEIR CLAIMS that installation problems will be fixed. Regardless of their pricing, specials, etc., I wouldn't go back to that store for ANY reason. WORST purchasing experience at ANY store that I have ever had. read more

I'm sitting here still now at car toys for almost 3 hours and an hour ago I found out I need another adapter for my stereo, but they didn't call me even though I left my phone number with them. So far it's been almost 3 hours. I went up to the counter and I asked the manager how much longer it would be and looks like there's another car still in front of me. He said a half an hour but so far it's been over an hour more . This just is so small thing, but also my 12-year-old daughter is with me and the video machine they have in the waiting room just takes your quarters and doesn't work. I told my daughter to let them know and they did come down and found a bunch of quarters that previous people lost, not to mention the unclean bathrooms with toilet paper over the floors and broken light switches . It cost $225 to install Sirius radio, unbelievable...The service is super slow and unorganized and I would not recommend it to anybody. I don't know why she took my appointment yesterday for 11 AM this morning. she should have told me they were booked . I will never ever come back here again for anything. I went here for black Friday based on a sales ad, which was the first time I had been there in probably 10 years. I remembered that they always were paying some game or trying to upsell you, but the price was right so I decided to give them a second chance. I wanted a rear seat DVD player, and after 10 minutes of convincing them I wanted the one in the ad and not the $1000 one, they told me that the price of $499 (advertised with free installation) was just the starting price. I would have to pay for installation and spend extra for the audio to work in the car because the regular audio didn't work right ($75 labor plus $50 in parts). Also, according to the ad If I arrived before 11 am, and spent $400 I would get an extra $100 off. When I asked about this, I was told that since installation was "built into the price" I would have to spend an extra $60 to get the discount. All in all, what started out as $399 was going to cost me $565 through crazy car toys accounting. I obviously walked away, just like I did 10 years ago, Initially the price was right, but their tricks and schemes drove the price up. The sales staff was incredibly high pressure and I'm sure they run this game on everyone who walks in the door. If you do decide to go there, pay close attention to what they are doing, because they're trying to steal you're money. read more

We paid them $300 for a full detail. The did a crap job. There still were obvious dirty stops inside. Outside sucked. We had them do it again and all they did was wipe down the obvious spots. We also bought a car stereo That is great and works fine but swapped units without telling us. Its a scam to buy a $250 stereo then learn it costs at least twice as much to install with all the wire and harness. Why can't they just use your old wiring? That information needs to be posted with the stereos not after you decide you want one. read more

I had a car alarm installed. Two days after my navigation system died. They denied any fault on their part. No refund policy and terrible customer service by the technition, sales associate and district administrator. I had to go further into management to receive a dime of a partial refund and better customer service. Overall a money greedy company with no awareness or appreciation of saving a returning customers. I still have a broken navigation system that will cost me $600 to replace. Thanks car toys for a working alarm but a broken navigation. I suggest going somewhere with more intelligent installers and a accurate guarantee and return policy! 2 words WEDDING RING. On my way to work one day.... I took off my wedding ring to put lotion on, setting my ring in my lap.... then it happened.... it fell. My world is in shambles, it slips, I hear the metal on metal cling as it falls below the seat. As soon as we stop (my husband was driving calm down people!) I hop out of the car and look below the seat. NOTHING. I pull everything out, search. NOTHING. After months of anxiety, finally I think... I'm just going to run by car toys and see if they can help me. Luckily for me they were not too busy and they helped me out. Art was the tech on duty.... (are the even called techs? I don't know.) Art was a super nice guy who calmed me down, was compassionate about my pain and assured me it wouldn't take long. I impatiently watch from the waiting room, tears in my eyes. They were able to pull the front seats completely out I don't even know how they did that... I tried googling it before taking it in (there was a vw specialist who helped me out as well) again, they were just so so nice! They checked in, but unfortunately they couldn't find anything, they offered to cut open the carpet... of course I was hesitant.... this vw Tiguan was my baby, I didn't want to hurt her. Once again Art calmed me down, assuring me that they would make the smallest cut possible just large enough to fit their hand in. Again I wait at the window. Finally ( well actually just minutes but it felt like eternity) they returned with my RING!!! Omg the tears are flowing! They saved me! I was so happy with their service! But more than anything their customer service was impeccable. I know it can't be that easy dealing with an emotional tearful customers but these guys are great and you could not even see where they cut into the carpet. Thank you car toys!!! I went in for a new deck (stereo) in my truck. I just needed to replace the CD player because mine stopped playing CD's. After a minute the sales man asked to go to out to my vehicle. He turns on my truck for a few seconds and says I need to replace all my speakers and started trying to sell me $700 worth of stuff when I just wanted to spend $100 to play some CD's. So I left and he gets mad at me saying I'm just going to come back and buy all the stuff he quoted me on and someone else will get the commission. He was very rude and confrontational and I choose to go some where else and buy a $100 CD player and have it installed. It sounds great and my speakers are fine. read more

I hate this place. I will never go back there again. I have a 2002 envoy. My boyfriend got me a stereo for it. It was great for the first three weeks...except my phone wouldn't connect with the blue tooth. Then, it would not turn on when I started the car. In the meantime, I got a new phone, and the blue tooth wouldn't connect with it. (they tried to tell me that it was because my phone was too new. Which I would believe if the old phone would have worked once). It didn't always recognize the iPod. There were a couple other problems that were minor. After going back and forth with them a bunch of times they finally said they would take it out and send it back to manufacturer; it would take 3 weeks to get back. Did they put the factory stereo in or give me a temporary one? No. Did it take 3 weeks? No. I called after 3 weeks to find out where my stereo was, or when I should be expecting to get it back. They said that the manufacturer hadn't gotten back to them. (I think they hadn't even sent it in yet) I called twice a week after that trying to get a status update. I literally had to drive around for almost 6 weeks before they finally put the factory one back in. A few days later my stereo was in. Same problems. They finally tried a new one. The only reason I got this new one was because a friend of a friend is a VP or something at Car Toys. And he made a few calls. The manager of the store could not have been more annoyed to have to fix my car. He made his feelings more than obvious. New one=same problems. Finally, they gave me a new model. They said it was a newer version of the same stereo. It has way less features than the original. AND I still have some of the same problems. I mean we spent over $500 and it should at least have all the features work. My final conclusion is that either they sell total crap, don't know how to install, have no idea about customer service or they know what customer service is and chose to go with the opposite. Either way, I will never go back here, wouldn't recommend them and am shopping for a new new stereo. read more

While it still doesn't make up for the lack of training of staff, it was very nice to see that the corporate management is committed to service. Rude. Pushy. The whole store is basically filled with used car salesman. They dress these guys up but can't teach them how to act professional.
