Very disappointed with my new stereo. It sometimes will randomly stop playing music and I'll have to hit play again. Siri doesn't always hear me, I've yelled numerous times "hey Siri" and NOTHING happens. Worst part I thought it may enhance my backup camera (clearer), it made it even harder to see when I'm backing up. On the website it shows pretty much all new stereos with a free backup camera. I was never offered this and I bought a Kenwood. Only thing I was offered here was "oh you need this part and this part and this harness, etc. The fees just kept adding up, I should have taken my friends advise and gone to best buy. They may be a little slower at install but you don't get charged a fee for every little thing. Heck even go to a mom and pop shop would probably be better. I also wanted to screen mirror my phone when I'm on my break at work and sit in my car but it requires a adapter like a Lightning-to-HDMI adapter, if you have an iphone, which I have no idea how to do that because everything is in the back of the receiver. I will be going back but that is because I paid to have my windows tinted but did have them do the front windshield until I replace the glass. Gave one star because some of the staff was "kinda" ok when I was at the store. The guy I talked to on the phone before I got all this done was not friendly at all and very short with me. Also I get that they work on commish but come on.

Public Service Announcement - AVOID CAR TOYS IN EVERETT I recently purchased a 2019 BMW i3s BEV - my new city ride. I was thrilled! Got it Tuesday, detailed it Wednesday, and started shopping around Thursday for a powered subwoofer and tint. I landed on Car Toys in Everett (410 SW Everett Mall Way). The salesperson gave me a good vibe, so I took a chance. I paid $1,500 for the tint and subwoofer install - steep, but I figured I was paying for professional work. I was dead wrong. Friday: dropped off the car in the morning. Called at 5PM and was told "we were just gonna call you." I show up, they hand me the keys - no walk-through, no explanation of the work done, nothing. But fine - I was excited to check out the subwoofer and the tint looked good. Then the problems started. I got home, started tuning the subwoofer with the bass knob - nothing. Checked the connection and found out they installed it so poorly that the cable was bent and didn't even reach properly. They literally removed the bass knob connection. I was already feeling ripped off. Saturday: I go back to Car Toys. After an hour, they swap out the subwoofer, and now the bass knob works and it finally sounds the way it should have the first time. I left happier... but not for long. Sunday: total rage. I'm plugging in my car to charge and notice a HUGE curb rash on my freshly detailed rear passenger wheel. Dug out, raw aluminum damage - damage that was 1000% not there before I dropped it off at Car Toys. Monday: I go in. Assistant manager Anthony says he'll talk to manager Brayden and review CCTV footage. Tuesday: I follow up. I speak with their installer Guinn who says they're reviewing footage. Later that day, I go in person. They show me video that doesn't even show the impacted wheel. I point that out, and Brayden gets snappy and dismissive, saying "Are you going to let me finish reviewing the footage?" - as if I'm the problem here. One minute later: "Yeah, we saw nothing." That's it. No accountability. No attempt to make it right. Just a dismissive "too bad" attitude. I just walked out before I said something foolish. I own two other vehicles and a boat. I was going to use Car Toys for all of them if this went well. Now? I'd rather risk Craigslist than ever give them another dollar. My Audi is 4 years old and not a single mark on the wheels. Car Toys had my BMW for less than 8 hours and now I'm looking at out-of-pocket repairs on a 20" black wheel. They charge professional prices and deliver amateur work - if not damaging work. So here it is: DO NOT trust Car Toys in Everett. Do not let them touch your vehicle. Do not expect accountability. Find a real professional who treats your car like it's theirs. Car Toys has proven they can't even do the basics without cutting corners or causing damage.

This is the AFTER of the "Deluxe Package" detailing that cost me $350. What an absolute joke.

I worked with Jonah to get some tints, new radio and alarm put back into my car. whole team was super helpful. they took their time to really make sure the car was gonna look nice. they even went above and beyond to research how to put in a touch screen radio in my car which was super sick. because it came out looking super flush and clean with the new screen . very good store with super helpful employees. who called and verified if it was okay to do certain stuff and kept me updated with my car. highly recommend this store.

Ask the Community - Car Toys

Dose anyone have a insight on there window tinting?

I have mine done in Cartoys for $250 before tax! I noticed small bubbles, was told by one staff that it couldn't be perfect, it will always have the bubbles.

I drove one hour both ways to get it done at Skyline, which I think tells you how badly wanted to get the windows tinted here. Here are pros and cons, followed by my advice. PROS + Andrey is responsive. He answers questions thoroughly and responds to emails quickly. + He is in this business for 20 some years, and he know the stuff. I went in thinking I will go with 35%, but he recommended 30% and advised against going any lighter than that. Initially, I was a bit worried that 30% would be too dark, but I'm glad I followed his advice. 30% is exactly what I wanted and looks great. It's like picking a paint color for your house. You would know until you see it on the house, but experienced professionals know what it will look like. + I thought the price was reasonable. I chose a single layer ceramic film by autobahn. It took them 4 hours to install it on my C43 coupe (side windows and the back). I paid $400 plus tax. With the quality of work and the time it took them, I don't think $400 is bad at all. + It was clear to me that customer experience was important to Andrey. He threw in a bottle of window cleaner made by autobahn for free. I found two really minor scratches on the passenger door (probably caused by finger nails, nothing deep). Instead of arguing with me he offered to buff them out. CONS - I can't think of anything. MY ADVICE @ If you need to kill time while they are working on your car, Alderwood Mall isn't too far. As I had 4 hours to kill, I walked there and back. It took me 40 minutes each way. Adjacent to the mall are H-Mart (Korean grocery store), Costco, and a couple of strip malls. @ As always, whenever you give your key to anyone, take pictures of the car. I usually take pictures and video tape the car. Although I didn't have to deal with it with Andrey, it's the only way to avoid your word against theirs. @ It comes with 3~5 days of curing time. During that, you cannot roll down your windows. Also, you may see some minor bubbles, but they are supposed to disappear. Once the curing time is over, I will post some photos. In any case, I highly recommend Skyline Tint Shop! ************************************************************ If you found my review helpful, don't forget to hit "useful" and/or "cool"! So I'm an old dude who likes his stereo systems that have some kick to them, I came up in the 80s…read morewhen stereos started to become a real thing. I've had all kinds of the Blaupunkt, pioneer , Kenwood, Sony , JVC, Jensen I've had them all. Alpine is my favorite. So I got a new vehicle and it was time for the stereo so I started shopping around and of course I went to car toys and I've actually had them do for for me a couple times or the years and NEVER been impressed with anything they do, personally I always know more about what I'm looking to buy than any of their sales staff. That being said I went into SS BARGAIN AUDIO on Evergreen way and met Steve the owner. After several trips in and out of SS BARGAIN and researching on the internet I decided to try Steve and SS BARGAIN AUDIO. I went with almost all of Steve's recommendations except for the head unit, I wasn't budging on my go to brand ALPINE that has never let me down or disappointed me. Until now! Steve more than once suggested the Kenwood head unit receiver but I wouldn't listen. Shortly after the installation there was an issue so I brought my vehicle back wondering how this would go..... Steve and Lee His installer were all over and although it took a few days he had gotten information from Alpine headquarters that they had seen this issue and had a solution for it, a software update. So after that things were better but still not as they should be. The head unit was doing all kinds of erratic things disconnecting from siriusXM if I sent or received a text message, having trouble connecting period and all of the problems were intermittent. So back to SS BARGAIN and Steve I went , by now a few months had passed and I was sure that would be unable or unwilling to help. I was wrong on both counts. At this point I was so frustrated that I told him I was just done with the Alpine ! And Steve being the stand up businessman that he is had no problem with that so I paid the difference in price between the two units and they yanked out the old Alpine and installed the new Kenwood no problem no questions asked. There's still really early but so far I'm extremely happy. I can't say enough good things about SS BARGAIN AUDIO !!! You would be making a huge mistake if you go anywhere else!!! Lee is a skilled installer and very much educated and up to date on all the new equipment. I've never had a better experience or installation. And if car toys did happen to do a decent installation job for you if you have any equipment issues I'm sure that you are out of luck or at minimum you'll be paying. PLEASE GO TO SS BARGAIN ADUIO for anything car stereo related I promise that you won't regret it and I'm willing to wager that you'll never go anywhere else!!! HANDS DOWN THE BEST SHOP IN EVERETT!!! Thank you Steve and Lee! And if I wasn't clear I went back took the Alpine out and put the Kenwood in and like it said it hasn't been long enough for a detailed review on the Kenwood head unit but so far I'm as happy as a pig in sh*t! I'll do a follow up review on the Kenwood, but I'm sure I'll still be happier with it than the Alpine. My only guess with why the Alpine had so many issues is my vehicle is a 2014 and the Alpine unit just came out in 2024 so maybe some of the electronics weren't jiving ??? Sounds weird but it's all I can come up with. Like I said for 20 plus years I've never had any issues with Alpine. But I'm happier right now with my Kenwood.
