the car toys in Everette turned out to be a huge disappointment and expense. Make sure you sign the contract before they start working on your car. I went in with what I thought was a speaker problem. I was told it was my woofer but that to replace it, they would need to replace the speakers also. According to them it is easier to do the wire work that way. I was told $1300 so I said okay. I was told it would be about 2 hours with 4 guys working on it. I was there 5.5 hours and half way through I was handed the paperwork and the total was $2800. The amount I was told in the beginning did not include the labor. Before it was all said and done, they came to me and said it actually turned out to be the radio itself that needed to be replaced, but they would give that to me for free. A $258 part. I mentioned the fact that I had just paid for all this equipment that was unnecessary but according to them I signed a contract. I have written complaints to varies offices that I don't mind paying for the labor and the radio but that I should not have to pay for the rest. No one has ever gotten back to me. As my husband says, they saw me coming. Oh, yes, let's not forget that after I left my blinkers and hazard lights did not work. After replacing lights and fuses and that was not the problem, I had to take my car to a shop. The mechanic asked me if I knew how the wire behind the radio had gotten cut. That cost me $216 dollars. Well this location in Everett seems to be a hit & Miss to get my car detailed as it depends on which detailer is assigned my car . At first , Josh seem to know exactly what he was doing to my Car and gave me this long speel on what he was going to do if I purchased the full exterior package , which includes everything , wheels detailed , paint correction, blah , blah, blah . So I felt good about his experience, until he mentioned something about blending the contours of my car ( Audi A8L) which I have never heard a detailer , including myself ever mention it would be an issue because all cars have contours unless your car is flat on all sides . So he gave me a great discount , so I went for it and had my car done on a Friday morning . I arrived at 9 am , he arrived 9:30 supposedly as I wouldn't know because they no longer do the cars in the bay where you use to be able to watch them , but now do it off site two blocks away ..( things that make you go mmmm..) so they took my car and I waited in the waiting room and some young kid who says he's a detailer too comes in and starts asking me a bunch of weird questions about my car and what they were going to do to it ( I already heard this I think , but it was just plain odd and his last words were " I guess I am going to leave now and go help with your car ! ( seems to be stalling as Josh was late for work ) " 4 hrs and 30 mins later , they come in. " your cars ready! " I go out and the first thing I notice are my wheels ( BTW I keep my car extremely clean all the time and know what my car and wheels look like clean ) I walk around and the job he did detailing my paint seems to be very good ( wait for it ) but I told he didn't detail my wheels and tires like he said he would , in fact they looked the same as then I brought it in . He swore up and down he cleaned them and they must have gotten dirty on his drive by to the shop two blocks away. ( really ?) He tried to deflect back about the time he spent on my car and I returned to the topic about my wheels and I said .. " you said it the cost covered everything including detailing the tires and wheels ? He response was unbelievable " I must have gotten caught in telling you about what I was going to do.. blah blah ... in the end , he didn't touch my wheels at all ! Then he told me not to wash my car for three days because of some new hot wax process he did on my car , which the chemical must be blue because I found it all over my car once I got home . Dissatisfied I turned and went inside paid for his work as he stood there, probably waiting to seeing if I was going to complain about his work to the manager , which I didn't , because it seemed a small thing to complain about because I was getting brand new rims in two days and I could just take it home and clean them myself and let it go..until I took a closer at my hood the next day , which had Swirl marks everywhere and appear gray as if he burnt my top coat trying to get the surface Scrates out . I went back to speak with the manager on Monday about everything but he was on vacation and the shop manager wouldn't be back until Wednesday . So having detailed my car before with my own equipment at home , I took the swirl marks out myself etc , which I could have saved myself some money and done everything from the get go , but got lazy and wanted someone else to do it for me this time . Lesson learned , but I though it should be mentioned somewhere to warn consumers . read more

I brought my car in because my BT wasn't connecting to my phone, they fixed that issue by rewiring my stereo system to the E Break, but now my backup camera dosnt work, they fixed one thing and broke another. The guy who was working on my car even said the back up camera is now a black screen, they wanted me to pay an extra $150 for a new camera when it was working perfectly fine before i brought it in! Car toys in Everett has stolen and conned two underage minors and stole an expensive remote start system from the owner of the truck. Shortly after Christmas, my brother and sister (age 15 and 16) took my dads truck in to get a remote for his already installed, python remote start system. Previously, we had been told by a worker at car toys that if we brought the truck in, they could find out what kind of remote the system needed and order it for us. Once they saw that my dad had a nice remote start system installed, they conned my two underage siblings into having the system removed and installed another one. They charged my 15 year old brother $307 (all of his money he had saved). My little brother left there crying after being pressured into spending his money by car toys staff. This was supposed to be a Christmas present for my dad. My dad had no knowledge of this happening. Car toys removed his remote start system, WITHOUT his consent. When my dad called back later the same day to get his python system back they told him that they had thrown it into the garbage and there's nothing that they could do. They REFUSED to give it back or help make this situation right. They show no remorse for stealing or conning a 15 year old boy. The new system that they installed did not have remote start, it was just an alarm system. When we called to have it fixed, they "fixed" it, but now only the remote start system works and the alarm does not. This is ABSOLUTELY unacceptable. Everytime I've been into car toys, they have always tried to pressure me into spending more money, but I am an ADULT not a child trying to do something nice for his dad. Not a great experience at this shop. I was quoted a two hour wait time to have a new stereo installed. I waited for two and one half hours patiently in a very sparse waiting area (see pic). At the three hour mark I finally decided that I had waited long enough and checked in. They had just finished. I wish they would have kept me updated or let me know that it was taking longer than expected. As I drove off I could see that the techs did NO clean-up after their work. Parts and debris were left on the floor of the car. I didn't appreciate the long wait without letting me know, as well as leaving with a car that was a mess and littered with debris and parts on the floor of my car. read more

I dropped off my classic car for the entire day for a stereo and speaker installation and got 2 quotes in case they needed to run new speaker wire which they had permission to do if needed since the car was stock but old, they called me to pick it up at closing time and when I showed up they said that they couldn't get one speaker working and they thought it was a wire issue and they needed my permission to run a new wire which they already had... So they didn't complete the stereo installation completely because they needed to run a wire and didn't get all the speakers working but expected me to repeat the process the following day. Updated- Not sure what happened to this store. Went In today to get my stereo and speakers tuned. Thought I might need a new box at most. The customer service rep and tech told me the amp was way underpowered, and I apparently had bad wiring meaning too small a diameter. They played with the tune for free, but turned all the settings to the min limit I assume in order to push me into a sale. Their quote for a new box, amp, and ofcourse "proper" wiring was about $700. I went home and measured the wires...and they were the proper size for my application. Went to car stereo plus and they tuned my set up, and found a cracked box. So an hour and $200 later for a new box and I'm happy. Very disappointed by this car toys, and with their efforts to get me to place a deposit on my quote to save it instead of printing it like they used to. The owner needs to handle this IMO! read more

If i could give zero stars i would I've tried emailing calling and contacting whomever the superiors are about my vehicle and the horrific job that took place when i made the regretful decision of letting them install an entire system in my car The way the sales pitch went was wrong in the way that he knew he was taking advantage of my lack of knowledge in the industry He would grab certain speakers or related and run them forward to where i was present them talk for half a second then run off and say he "knew exactly what id need." He did this for my Cadillac's entire system from speakers to witing to deck and looking back he never did show me what the actual plan was prepayment I think i was so stressed about the 5000 cost that i was a little preoccupied with the nervousness of it all Meanwhile many of the things that are safety concerned and otherwise don't work but they insisted i pay 800 to update the on start doesn't work they broke my drivers door lock they never bothered to show me how to connect my gps and push key to start from phone If i hadnt been sick with covid twice in the last couple months i would have already matched my butt back in there but the lack of response is uncanny read more

This place is terrible. I saw that they were having a decent sale on a receiver that I wanted, so I decided to go check it out in person. Before I walked in, I knew exactly what I wanted, I simply wanted to play with the receiver a little bit and then possibly talk numbers. The second I walked in the store, I was approached by a shark, I told him my wife and I were just looking. Within 5 minutes of us being there the same guy approached us 3 separate times, trying to tell us about specials. He asked me what I was looking for, so I made it clear I was looking for something cheap cheap cheap. So what's he do?? What any good shark salesman would do, try to sell me an in-dash DVD player, because that makes sense. After going back and forth trying to get it through his head, that we wanted something simple and cheap, I found one that we liked and was interested in purchasing. Next step was walk out to the car with an installer. Man was this painful. Once out there, the installer tried to get me to upgrade to something better, he insisted that I get a receiver with Bluetooth. I had to do the back and forth with this guy next, so aggravating. Once we got back in the store, then installer handed me back off to the salesperson. The installer told the salesman, in an undermining tone, that we "for some reason want to stick to the low end receiver.." They both were agreeing with one another like we were insane for wanting something simple! So, for reasons unknown I agreed to go through with the purchase. While I was at the counter getting ready to pay, it hit me like a freight train...why the [blank] should I give these jerks my business?? The price was good, I liked the product, they could get me in right away. But after all that, I made the decision to walk away on principle. And I'm sooo glad I did. You suck Car Toys. read more

Overall, I'm happy with my experiences at this Car Toys -- I feel like I've received good service and good value for good car audio service. The manager of this store is with-it, while his sales staff vary in their sensitivity to customer needs. But the most important part: the installation technicians are excellent, and that's what really counts -- I've been VERY impressed with Josh (20+ years of install experience), he did a stellar job wiring from front to back of my car, installing amps and USB jacks and handsfree mic and all, and he went above and beyond, walking me through specific functions and spending lots of time with me. Car Toys' warranties are good for all car toys everywhere. And at the end of the day, this is the place -- a trustable, reliable car audio source, and they have sales as well. There are other games in town, but the country-wide warranty is excellent. At the end of the day, I keep coming back for my car audio needs. read more

Went in last night to buy an Alpine stereo since it was on sale. Sales man was really nice to work with once he saw that it was an easy sale. Couldn't convince my husband and I to get it installed there, didn't seem to happy about it. Supposedly sold it to me with everything I needed to self install it. Well went home to install and was missing a piece. Waited til this morning to go in. Once my husband told the sales person the issue, he looked up our order from last night and said that everything he needed was sold. Not making eye contact but just looking at his computer. Giving attitude like not wanting to help. I get it, they were upset since the night before since we refused to get it installed with them. But to tell us that if they go to our vehicle to check what the issue might be so that we can buy the part from them, and them refuse to want to help, is pathetic. Not just that but having the manager stand at the door to make sure this other employee doesn't help is ridiculous. Maybe that's why the one tiger went into the car was fucking rude. I've never been to a car toys where they tell me that if they step into our vehicle they would charge me. Why don't they charge me when I go in and ask them what kind of stereo I need?They seem very happy to get into my car and suggest something. But, when you want their help for something else, ohhh no, now they want to charge. Poor service.. won't be back again. Either way, it's true, I was reading other reviews, they take their sweet time installing everything to charge you up the ass. Had gotten a new system installed in my STI, they spent longer than an average person installing it, spent too much on installation. This is the worst store I've ever had to deal with. I have received a great car stereo for Christmas that my husband installed. I then decided to buy a new car and my husband took the new stereo out of my car for me, so I decided I would pay someone to install in the new car. The salesman looked at my car to see what was involved and quoted me a price. I went back in the store to finalize and then go the hard push for more stuff; speakers, sub-wolfers, etc. They then asked if I had stereo controls on my steering wheel. They just looked at my car, did they not check for that? They then told me the antenae may be proprietary and there is an additional part needed. The install price went from $140 to $280. Rediculous! These guys are like slimy used car salesman. My husband actually told me they sent him to three stores for the actual stereo and he ended up waiting and going back twice when he was told the stereo was in stock. The first guy (kid, really; I'm probably old enough to be his mother, and if I had been his mother, I would have made him take his stupid do-rag off) I talked to in person about new speakers was interested only in making the sale, not whether the speakers would fit into the car properly or if the wiring and connectors were compatible or anything. He looked vaguely interested, but that's as far as he'd go. I'm no incompetent female, but I didn't like feeling that I was completely on my own with no support or help. The second guy, though, who I'd talked to on the phone earlier in the day and who pounced on me (in a good way) the second I came in later that night (fed up, discouraged, and ready to return the suckers), took the time to address my concerns and showed me how to fit the speakers into the car's existing wiring, even giving me little wire bits and showing me how they'd go. So I guess it's a crapshoot whether you get someone who does or doesn't give a damn, but the second guy sure as hell made up for the sell-it-and-get-this-dumb-lady-out-the-door guy. read more

We chose to go to Car Toys when we moved from Tmobile to Verizon because of the promotional deal they had on new cell phones. This turned out to be a mistake. I will never go through an "authorized dealer" again. The salesman who "helped" us was supposed to put us (3 phones) on a family plan but instead set us up wrong and we ended up with two accounts. I thought the papers looked incorrect at the time and I questioned the salesman- but he assured me it was correct. I expected and trusted that he knew what he was doing- I shouldn't have apparently. We ended up finding out that it was fubar'ed when my husbands phone was disconnected for nonpayment. Since we'd just paid our bill- I knew something was screwed up and called Verizon only to find out I'd only paid ONE of our bills cause that's all I thought we had- one account. In short- it created a billing nightmare. I ended up on the phone with Verizon Wireless for over an hour trying to correct the mess and we're not out of the woods yet! We have to follow up with Verizon after the next billing cycle ends so they can make sure all the adjustments go through properly and the credits are applied correctly. What a friggen mess! I came in to Car Toys for a memorial day 2016 sale that offered a "free backup camera with purchase". What they don't tell you is that the camera being offered, mysteriously doesn't work with anyone's car (I started polling customers around the store). On top of that a $150 minimum install for an hours worth of work. This scam isn't what I'm upset about though. I proceeded to pay for my product and install, which came out to approximately $660 for the Sony deck, wiring harness, hardware, and install. I ubered home as I was told it would be 2.5 hours until finished. When I hit the 2.5 hour mark, I called and uber to head back. On the way, I got a call from the salesman telling me my install would take an additional $150. I told him to put my car back together, as I am coming back in to get my money back. He said ok. Two minutes later, I got call back saying they would wave the $150, but it would be an additional two hours, and the installer was starting right then. I'm currently in the waiting room, or their sad excuse for a waiting room, and my car has yet to be touched, as we are approaching their estimate for finishing my vehicle. While I appreciate them dropping that extra $150, I don't understand why they wouldn't have been upfront about what would be necessary to complete my install BEFORE I paid for it. What I FEEL like is they are just trying to shake people down, and profiting off those who fall for it. I confirmed this feeling, mere seconds ago, while in the waiting room, and an installer came in and told another customer the same thing. On top of all of this, this, my sales man aside, this Car Toys staff is unprofessional to say the least. While paying, I got the privelage of hearing all of the gossip surrounding a recently terminated employee and the managers opinions on the matter. This is not an OK sales floor conversation. Another employee even confided in me that the staff feels the advertising used by Car Toys is "Misleading" and that customers are often unhappy. What? Really? I mean, I appreciate the honesty, but seriously? Admitting your company is scamming people just solidifies my 1 star rating. I'd get a refund if I could, but they've already cut the dash of my vehicle to install my deck.
