I've been coming here practically since the place opened up. Service has always been good and the food was great! But lately that's been on a down slide. The delivery service has not been nice even though I've tipped them. Over a week ago I ordered an Italian Combo and a small chef salad. Not only would my driver not come into my building but he was kind of rude even though I pre tipped him. 20 min after eating the Italian combo I got sick with a stomach bug. Everything was fine up til then. I was sick most of the weekend but eventually got better after taking Immodium AD. There are 15 pizza places between Black Rock and Southport. I haven't gotten sick from them. I've complained about this before and nothing seems to have been fixed. Maybe it's time to move on. read more

I live in NYC where, for some reason, supreme pizza is not a thing and when it is - is made with that weird sausage as opposed to italian, fennelized sausage. So, when I come to CT to visit friends, I always make it a point to get pizza delivered from Captains. The pizza is always tasty, delivered quickly, and reasonably priced. Last time I ordered, half hawaaiin and half supreme, there was an error on the supreme side. When I called to report the error the dude on the other line was like "no problem" and replaced the supreme portion with a free small pizza which was easily the same size as the replaced section, if not bigger. read more

Thought I would try this place again, as it had fairly positive reviews, and I feel it's a challenge to find a good pizza place these days. Tucked off the beaten path on a side street by FTC, the location has nice parking and safe surroundings. The menu offers a large variety of foods. However, I decided to go with the classic cheese pizza. Upon opening the box, I decided I would need either a heart stent or a side of Plavex, as the grease was excessive like engine oil, and had soaked through the cardboard box. I had mistakenly parked in their parking lot to shop at a store next door. There were no signs that said no parking. An older man that I'm assuming was the owner opened the door of the restaurant and screamed at me like I was a child (I am 30 years old) and told me to move my car. I apologized and moved it immediately, since I was not aware it was a no parking zone. I don't what the problem is with these clowns. They are more worried about their parking lot than running a business... parked my car in a parking space to go grab some wings I had ordered from Archie Moore's... Had a friend in the car who was more than willing to move it if it was such a problem (parking lot was empty, by the way). Had this older guy with dark hair come out and yell at me as I was walking across the road. Explained to him I was grabbing some wings real quick and that my friend was in the car and they would move it if he asked them too. Saw he look at our plates and go back inside... As I came out I had some weird pale looking kid with a beard and glasses and some chubby chick with black hair (guessing waitress or son and daughter of older guy) immediately start swearing at me asking me if "that was my f***king car?!?!" Apparently the older guy doesnt know english and misunderstood when I said my friend would move the car if it was that much of a problem... I intimidately asked this weird pale kid why he was swearing at me... Let me start by saying that the pizza is very tasty and I really love the crust and I usually do not eat the crust and found myself eating every bite. The problem was the size of the pizza. I bought a small which was more like a mini personal pizza. I could easily finish a small myself where as usually I only eat 1/2. Not sure what the larges are like. I prefer when they cut this Greek style pie into squares- trust me it makes all the difference bcz of its "thickness". If you get a hankering for Greek pizza- u won't be disappointed. We have been long time customers of captains pizza but we were beyond disappointed when we got a large cheese pizza delivered last night. Not only did the pizza arrive an hour after the order was placed (we live within 1.5 miles of the restaurant and it was placed at 7:30pm on a Tuesday...) but the pizza was the worst we've ever had. I love these guys. Get the Greek salad with chicken slouvaki - its the house dish - amazing meal. Great pita bread too. He makes his own balsamic Italian vinaigrette that is outstanding. I like their pizza too. Its the greek style pizza, not Italian, so smaller more cheesy yummy slices. I should start this review by stating that the waitress was excellent, attentive, apologetic and then eventually mortified on how the food was completely botched up. We ordered pizza. Wow, that should be simple until it was brought out. First, they didn't put meatballs on the entire pizza and garlic on half of it. To be polite I said, not to worry We will eat it. This was an obvious mistake. I suppose you could kill someone with the crust if you really wanted to. Sent it back and got pizza number 2. Just terrible. We have been long standing customers. We had an issue with an order and the only time in 8+ years we called to inform them of an issue (food completely inedible) they were horribly rude. Great little Greek Pizzeria. The bad first...It does appear a little run down outside and inside. There is also limited seating and generally only one waiter working. They make up for this with the food. The kitchen is exposed and is clean. The pizza is great Greek Pizza and is cooked to perfection. They will take off-menu orders upon request and the food is always cooked well. This place has a very homely feel to it and it feels good to walk in, grab a table and eat some good food. Okay so I don't usually post reviews but today my boyfriend and I stopped in before he had to be at work since we are usually always in and out. We were the only ones inside besides a table who had already been served and was getting ready to leave. Ordered a garlic bread and two sodas and a small pizza. Garlic bread came out quickly. No plates or napkins though. Then group of 5 came in and seemed to know the owner who immediately became more worried about their service than ours (who had now been sitting for 20+ minutes). Maybe another 10 minutes later our pizza comes out of the kitchen.. burnt and black, crust hard as a rock. Owner said sorry it was "well done" and would bring another out shortly. Problem with that was we didn't have time to be waiting longer. As we told him we didn't want it he still tried to charge us for the pizza! We ended up paying for the garlic bread and drinks and left. I understand things happen but we were the only ones in there and we felt as if our order was not enough and he was only worried about the next order and money. read more

I would love to absolutely give them five stars because I feel that they (the owner and staff) are incredible based on service alone. However, in terms of pizza I must say they are what I consider our go- to pizza. This pizza is like that old comfy slipper that always seems to fit just right. I am definitely a foodie and have high standards when it comes to good pizza. I didn't grow up in Fairfield and find most restaurants to soar in customer service where they lack in tasty food. Captains pizza has good sauce and yummy cheese, it is always piping hot and the crust doesn't need to be saved for my moms dogs. The prices are reasonable although they should throw in a free 2 liter every once in a while if you ask me, they never seem to have specials...but that isn't the biggest turn off. All in all, I think it's the best pizza your going to get in Fairfield. read more

I pulled up to captains with my friend in a different car - we were picking up a pizza for my mother before my friend and I went somewhere else. Before I could get out of the car, this extremely rude waitress stormed outside saying I could not park there. Confused, I looked back at my friend in her parking spot as the same lady said 'and your little friend needs to leave too' I was shocked an employee was referring to two customers in such a hostile manner. I asked the lady why she had such an attitude towards me and before I could finish the sentence she called me a bitch as the front doors were being shut on her by the owner in order to make her stop. Bottom line, I have never met this lady in my life! For an employee to call me a name and be completely hostile to two customers she's never met before is ridiculous. After leaving without the pizza my mother called the place only to hear excuses from the owner that I only parked there to go somewhere else. Obviously, the employee and owner were mistaken because of the separate cars. Due to their incredibly rude behavior and conclusions they have lost a customer. When you go to pick up a pizza at captains, be careful where you park - apparently their own parking lot is off limits! read more
