Truly amazing service. NOT. Two salads came in a timely manner. They would have been finished by the time the pizza can out about 15 minutes later. Now the pizza would finished had my wife not wanted to save half for lunches during the week. Because the first entree came out about 20 minutes after the pizza. And about 5 minute later we told our last entree was serviced to the wrong table and they would have it up right away. By this time everyone is finished with their meal except me. We started out at Wooster street - which had oven issues on a Tuesday - then we opted to this spot. The Fairfield location is easy to find, you just need to find the parking and entrance in the rear. We got two large pies which came out nicely charred on the edges. The Meatsa was well adorned, softer middle - crunchewy ends. The second was the Basil burrata which also very good. The high ceilings, street views, long bar, and visible prep area was upscale comfy. Service by Daniel was prompt and friendly. Originally thought 4 stars, but we all enjoyed our "New Haven" lunch. My review isn't so much about the pizza, but the heat. The pizza was very good. However, on a day when it is 96 degrees out and having NO air conditioning is unforgivable. Our entire party was dripping with sweat, people were fanning themselves with the menus and even the staff were doing the same. It was stifling. Obviously if I go again I'll have to ask if the AC is working before I subject myself to that again. Came to this place on a sleepy Sunday evening. Not super busy and no specific reason for an overall negative experience. There was a guy in a blue dress shirt that was taking pizza to the pick up area- I take him to be the manager. The fact that this place is such an awful service with a manager front and center says a lot about overall lack of effort. He doesn't care, why should anyone else. Service- non existent. We had to flag down someone to take our order we had waited for 10/15 mins without being acknowledged. I had to ask for water 3 times. Like what the actual heck!? We have been multiple times to the original Sally's New Haven location and this was our second vist to the Fairfield location. My son who lives in Maine has declared this to be his favorite CT pizza place ( yes, he has been to Pepe's and Modern) so we were so glad to be able to make reservations at this location for his recent visit. We arrived about 10 mins before the reservation and were soon seated, provided with menus, and drinks, orders taken. We ordered 3 pizzas, one large pepperoni and sausage, one small extra mozzarella and pepperoni, and one small tomato and mozzarella with garlic and 1/2 meatball. The pizzas came fast and tasted just as fantastic as they always do; nice char, great tasting sauce and cheese, and piping hot! This location's pizza is comparable to the NH location without the hassle of finding parking and waiting in an endless line. It might even make the pizza taste better! (No disrespect to the OG!》 The olive oil cake is amazing so take it to go if stuffed. You will thank yourself later. The service was great and we so enjoyed the whole experience. Holy moly this place has been consistently amazing for me! At first I saw the reviews and was hesitant. Then my son started going there and dining in house with his friends. They all LOVE the pizza but really everything they've had on the menu. Then I decided to go for it for pick up myself. It was phenomenal. Granted I knew that people talked about take out and delivery being a little dry, so I ALWAYS order with extra sauce. And it's been perfect every time and now I'm into the "teens" number of orders. Heading home along I-95N on a business trip, I was craving some New Haven style pizza. Unfortunately, the downtown New Haven restaurant was closed. So, I pulled over and looked online and saw there was a Sally's Apizza in Fairfield which was open. I ordered online and arrived at Sally's Apizza in Fairfield just as my pizza came out of the oven. I put the pizza box on the passenger seat and enjoyed it on the way home. The crust is perfectly crisp so you can eat this on the go. No issues with cheese/grease sliding off into your lap. Additional notes: 1. If you're looking for New York style pizza, then this is NOT the place for you. 2. The carry out service counter is a separate section of the restaurant. Stopped by for the first time and had a very nice Friday dinner. Like many others I am a huge CT pizza freak, so I was excited to try out Sally's, which is obviously highly revered in New Haven. It's nice inside, feels a lot more like a restaurant than other pizza spots in the area. Bunch of booths and tables, with high tops as well. We sat down and promptly put in our order - the apricot hot honey crostini and a tomato mozzarella sausage and onion pie. Took a bit to come out but we really enjoyed the food. The crostini was a smidge too blackened on the bottom, but it was very flavorful and appropriately priced. The pizza came out and looked great. Crispy, slightly charred crust with a well done undercarriage. The sauce was a little sweet and flavorful, sausage was sliced not crumbled, which isn't my favorite but it was good. And the onion added a nice sweetness to compliment the char. Very good pie, but when compared to other "legendary" spots, it's probably my second or third favorite. My son absolutely devoured it, though, so I can't see us not coming back soon. read more

Like many other reviewers, I found myself craving pizza on a trip down I-95, only to find a super long line at all of the main spots in New Haven. Then I spotted this location of Sally's in Fairfield - it did not disappoint! I ordered my pizza online to pick up at the store and it was ready right on time! Unfortunately, there is no outdoor seating at the restaurant (it was very spacious and not busy inside on a weekday). We had our pizza on the sidewalk in the shopping plaza and it was delicious! The cheese and sauce were top notch! The crust would have been 100% perfect were it not blackened and charred in some places. However, I am guessing that that process was necessary to make the rest of the crust crispy and full of flavor. I am originally from New Haven and I had them all. Sally's I rarely had, but outsiders declared it the best. I knew that the NH location always had some weird schedule to get one, so I rarely had one. I decided to give this location a try since Sally's and Pepe's were bought out and expanded. Those who bought Sally's seemed to have preferred to have expanded to MA so that they can get in on the NH pizza craze. It also seems like an attempt to make it appear as if MA and CT have something in common - which we do not. At least Pepe's went into NY - which is should as this IS the NY, NJ, CT tri-state area. MA and Boston do not factor into this and has no culture here in CT. I am really tried of MA companies buying things in CT only to try to put a MA or New England stamp on things - just because they are not a part of metro NYC. Boston is your town, so deal with it. Anyway. It is overpriced and it has a different look from other pizzas. I thought that it was OK, but nothing to go crazy about. Pepe's is better, but both are actually held back by retaining the limited topping selections. I personally love eggplant on a pizza, along with other veggie options, so this is one reason I don't order much from these spots. If was OK by my standards, but not worth worth driving to Fairfield traffic to get it. I believe they have a Stamford location, but I am not going there either. Sally's Fairfield also happens to be down the street from Pepe's. Going to either, they assume that everyone is on their first try with these places, but I grew up with them, so I am picky. I am proud of my NH pizza spots (even though I don't get a dime from them), and having left some years ago, other spots south of Fairfield do have a good pizza problem! As out of towners, my family and I always make sure to ask locals for their favorite spots when we come to a new place. We heard Connecticut was known for pizza, so we asked a local for recommendations and this place came up. For a pizza place, WOW, the ambiance is gorgeous and classy. We started with sangria and garlic bread. The sangria was perfectly balanced, not too sweet or too strong but just right. The garlic bread was better than most! It came with pesto and marinara and the pesto was mind blowing. The marinara was good but a bit spicy. We then just got a standard pepperoni pizza and it was really good! I want to start off by saying that I love Sally's. I was hopeful that the parking situation would be less confusing and I was sorely disappointed. However, once inside, I was greeted warmly and our server was great. Something that makes this location special is their lunch specials. For $15.75, we got a small pizza and unlimited fountain soda. It's all pizzas! They also have sandwiches on there too and other great items on their full menu. The restaurant is spacious and seating is comfortable. The service here is honestly really, really bad. The staff seem to be totally distracted/disinterested and appear bothered by the idea of helping a customer. First of all, the moment I walked in the vibes were off. Once we went up to the hostess she looked at us like a deer caught in headlights. Like girl, are you okay? Then she proceeds to tell us that there is a reservation at the table she's gonna put us at and told us we'd only have 1 hour to eat. We didn't even get to answer before someone else led us to our table. When we walked to the tables there was literally 5 open to use. I don't understand why she didn't just offer us to wait for our own table instead of giving us a time limit on our food. Went there Saturday with my son on our way back home to Long Island from Mohegan sun. We walked in with no reservation and it was packed and reservations were filled for next 2 hours. Want to see what all the fuse was about so we decided to give Sally a try. The original Sally's is in New Haven, but we went to the Fairfield location. It's a larger, more modern restaurant, and it has parking. The pizza underwhelmed us, we tasted too much of that burnt taste. The pepperoni was tasty, the sausage not so much. The staff was young, but attentive and polite. There were a couple of TV's, but I'm my opinion they could use some more. In the mood for Sally's but didn't want to risk having to stand outside in hot humid weather so instead of going to the New Haven location which is 25 minutes away, we drive 40 minutes to Fairfield. This location has plenty of parking and the ambiance is much nicer. Had a small New Haven pie and a large mozzarella, sausage, pepperoni pizza. Delicious! Just as good as the New Haven location. Disappointed and frustrated -- expected far better from such a well-known name. We live in Manhattan and were passing through the area when we decided to stop in for a quick dinner to at this highly regarded pizza spot. We started with a house salad, which was actually very good, along with a glass of wine. But the experience went downhill quickly. Almost immediately after we sat down, fruit flies began to swarm around us -- some even landed in our salad. We had to request new plates before the pizza even arrived because we were scooping dead flies out of our food. Throughout the entire meal, we were constantly swatting flies away. I initially mentioned the issue to our server, who simply said "sorry about that" and gave us clean plates. That was it. The service overall was slow, even though the restaurant wasn't particularly busy. Once we finished our pizza (which we had to eat while dealing with these flies), I sat with my credit card in hand, trying to get someone's attention. The manager looked over multiple times but didn't approach until I flagged him down directly. Even then, when we showed him the flies still hovering around and on the wall next to us, his response was dismissive at best. Barely an apology, and certainly no acknowledgment of how unacceptable that dining experience was -- especially at a place that charges $90 for a simple meal for two. For the record, I wasn't looking for anything comped (I've worked in the restaurant industry for over a decade), but a sincere apology and some level of concern would've gone a long way. For a restaurant with such a big reputation -- especially an Italian institution -- this was shockingly poor. Do better. I won't be returning and recommend. read more
