We came here the other night and ordered over the phone, and our food was ready within 10 minutes! This place is amazing. It was incredibly clean inside. Honestly probably one of the cleanest restaurants we've tried around here. The staff were extremely friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. The restaurant also has plenty of seating, including tables that are handicap accessible and stroller friendly. We ordered the Shrimp Lovers plates, and they were delicious and inexpensive at only $22. I also grabbed the banana pudding from the dessert case up front. The flavor was amazing, although the pudding itself was a little runny. I'm not sure if that's just how they make it or if I happened to get a bad one. They had tons of dessert options in the front case along with lots of bottled drinks to choose from, although they don't serve alcohol. Definitely give this place a try! read more

We had really high hopes for Captain Kals. The interior is decorated so cutely - nice, bright and clean looking. The prices are really high. I had a Connecticut roll, served with sides of red potatoes and corn for $27. When it arrived, the corn was sitting in a large pool of oil that seriously did not look or taste like butter. The roll may have been cooked to order, but both the potatoes and corn were absolute mush. My husband had salmon that was supposed to have been seared (it was not) over a bed of rice with broccoli. He said everything on his plate was mushy and it took a good long while to arrive. Everything is served in take out containers, regardless of whether you are eating in. The prices in the restaurant are not consistent with the prices online and on the take out menu. There is nothing here that would entice us to return. read more

Ordered two lobster rolls yesterday after 7 months of not having any recently moving from San Diego and well...damn... I don't miss Cali anymore because this seafood was extremely fresh... Like smack yo mama in the face fresh . For real though this is my new fav Memphis spot for seafood! Service was also outstanding I don't remember the lady who took my order but she was very kind and helpful and the gentlemen who brought my food was awesome! Brought me extra butter and was extremely hospitable. Man so glad this place is open. I will def be back! read more

We ordered lunch today and really enjoyed part of the meals. We had two crab rolls with potatoes and corn, and the shrimp lovers platter. The potatoes were warmed over from sometime before and were dark brown in color and mushy. The cheddar biscuit (roll) was also dark brown and appeared to have been prepared the day before. We threw out the potatoes and biscuit because they were inedible. Overall the crab rolls and shrimp were very good and we'll give them another try, but we'll also make sure everything is prepared fresh next time. read more

My family and I decided to try Captain Kal's this weekend, and we ordered one of the crab leg platters. Everything was fresh, hot, and seasoned perfectly. The crab legs were meaty and easy to crack, and the potatoes and corn soaked up all the butter and seasoning. It's hard to find seafood this fresh without driving a long way, but Captain Kal's absolutely delivered. The portions were worth the price, and the staff was super friendly. So disappointing. The lobster roll was ok. Not much flavor. Potatoes good. Corn frozen niblet even though sign said fresh ingredients. Catfish dinner said 2 fillers. I got one large one SO thin it had only 1 side. Thicker batter that was far too salty. I could not taste or even feel the fish texture. Awful. The hushpuppies were good. I decided on the Connecticut Roll and it didn't disappoint! The fact that everything is steamed and not fried made it a guilt free delight! I just recently learned about Captain Kals while driving past the Walmart Neighborhood Market the other day. After reading customer reviews and looking through the photos people posted, I decided to check it out on Monday, only to realize they're closed on Mondays :( I went back today and ordered the Maine and Connecticut lobster rolls. Both were really good, though I personally enjoyed the Connecticut roll a little more. They each have their own unique flavor and style. The meal also came with potatoes and corn. Everything was very light, and unlike most fast food places, you don't leave feeling stuffed or sluggish afterward. It's definitely a great option if you're looking for something lighter and healthier, though it does come at a higher price since it's lobster after all. Restaurant: Very clean with a nice beachy atmosphere. Staff: Very polite and friendly. Food: Light, fresh, and really tasty. Definitely worth it. Price: It's crab and lobster, so expect higher prices... just like everything else these days :). Portion Size: Decent. Overall, I'd give it 5 stars. I haven't tried their crab legs yet, but I'll definitely check them out at some point. Another plus is that they offer beef sausage! read more

Food was delicious! We got the Shrimp Lover's Platter and it was amazing perfect. It's a pound of shrimp! I was concerned that the seasonings would be too spicy/hot but it was just right. The corn, potatoes, and smoked that came with it were good too. Our friends got the same thing and the Signature Surf Duo. It was all excellent. read more
