We walked in late Saturday night around 9:40pm and were seated immediately. The restaurant was pretty full but service was very quick. I always get a seafood boil bag minus seafood because I love all the flavors! I still get a good bag with corn, sausage, egg and potatoes! The hush puppies are always also delicious. I visited with a party of 12 during a work trip and I truly wish I could give this place 10 stars!!!!!! The service!!! Amazing!!! Our waiter consistently checked on us, and our glasses were never empty. The music selection was a mix of RNB, definitely a vibe. I ordered the 2 way shrimp, which comes with half a pound of shrimp w/head off and fried shrimp. Usually shrimp without the head lacks flavor but THAT WAS NOT THE CASE! I came in for a pickup order, and I do want to start by saying the staff was really nice and welcoming. Even though the food wasn't quite ready when I arrived, they were friendly and polite, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the food itself didn't fully deliver. When we got home and opened everything up, we noticed some of the shrimp were starting to turn black, which was concerning. On top of that, a lot of the shrimp was overcooked, and the shells were sticking to the meat, making it pretty frustrating to eat. The oysters were okay, but didn't taste as fresh as I was expecting, especially for a seafood spot. That said, the seasoning and overall flavors had potential, and the service experience was positive. I just wish the quality and execution of the seafood matched it. It always hits the spot, I feel like it's a good price as well normally I share the family special with my bestie and it's only $30 something each splitting the bill. If you're looking for a place where you'll be completely ignored for hours, this restaurant is perfect. We were seated and then apparently became invisible. After waiting nearly an hour without a single server coming to our table, I had to walk to the front and ask if someone could please take our order. Meanwhile, tables that arrived well after us were already enjoying drinks and meals while we sat there wondering if anyone even knew we existed. Once we finally ordered, we waited another hour for our food. We wanted to order drinks during that time, but there was never a server around to ask. It felt like we were chasing the staff just to get basic service. The grand finale came after we left, when several of us started feeling sick and developed stomach pain. I can't prove what caused it, but after everything else that happened, it certainly didn't leave a good impression. Between the terrible service, ridiculous wait times, and feeling unwell afterward, this was easily one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. The seafood was fresh and flavorful, but we were disappointed that the shrimp and crab were packed together in the same plastic bag, even though they were meant for two different people. It made the meal messy and less enjoyable. I wish the person taking the order had double checked instead of assuming everything should go in one bag. On top of that, the Cajun sauce was very heavy-handed with butter and oil, which overpowered the seasoning. The sides were solid--both the onion rings and Cajun fries were crispy and satisfying. Still, the packaging and the excess oil left us a little underwhelmed, especially given the price point. That said, the ambience is fun and lively based on our past dine-in experience. Captain Crab has potential, but more attention to detail with takeout preparation and balance in the seasoning would make a big difference. read more

If you need a seafood boil, THIS IS THE SPOT! I have been coming here for the last year now and truly no other seafood boil place compares. There is always a great punch of flavor and spices. Nevertheless, we ordered the Captain Special Boil w/ Captain special flavor & Hot level. It's the perfect amount for 2 people. We also ordered a side of rice and Cajun fries with additional lemon pepper seasoning. BOMB! The food came out pretty quick which was great because I was starving. The whole setup came out at the same time and the temperature to all the food was perfect. We destroyed the seafood boil and only left a couple shrimp in the bag... I would say the shrimp was cooked perfect meanwhile the lobster tail was a bit overcooked. Aside from that, our server was very kind and gave us all the goods to enjoy the meal. Usually come here but the other day I came in a group of 5. Place was not busy at all and we were seated right away. We sat for 25 minutes and no one came to take our order nothing. Two tables that got seated after us got seen right away. We told the hostess and still nothing happened so we just walked out and left. We ended up going to the Elk Grove location. Now that there's so many seafood boil spots it's hard to find the best one. I've had the majority ones in the Sacramento area and this is my favorite. They have a nice size parking lot and there is also some street parking. There are tables and booths. They also have a separate area for big parties inside. I went in on the weekday and there was a small wait but I've heard about the wait time on the weekends. The server was really nice and attentive. I ordered M2.Shrimp(No Head)(1/2 LB). I added half pound sausage. I got some sides that were extra sauce, fries, and steamed rice. I love that the extra sauce does not come in the bag. They serve it on the side. The rice was yummy especially when adding the sauce. I got the "Hot" and it had a real nice kick to it. My flavor of choice was the captain special that has everything in it. The sausages had a real good smoked taste. The fries were cruntchy as well. Overall all my food was great. The prices are more reasonable than other seafood boil places in Sacramento. This place was so good, I wish there was one closer to the bay! We came here on a Friday around 1 and it was crowded! We were able to get seated right away though as the place is fairly big and can accommodate a decent amount of tables. The lunch special is such a good deal. We got 2 bags of shrimp (3/4lb each), fried crawfish, rice, and the fried catfish basket and our total only came out to about $50. The only thing that would make this place even better is if they had garlic noodles! I think the only area of improvement would be the service! While our waitress was friendly, she wasn't super attentive and our food did take a little while to come out. Without a doubt the worst meal we have had in Sacramento. The boiling bags were to opened with cheap scissors that really struggled to make a cut. The fried shrimp were edible. The wait person had never heard of cocktail sauce when I asked for it for my shrimp. While virtually every place offering batter fried fish uses cod not here. CC uses cheaper fish (Insert Asian farmed varieties) at essentially the same price that Mel's charges for its cod. Mel's does offer real metal utensils. We ate there once and it was so horrid that our meals were not finished and we went somewhere else to order something that did not look spoiled when served. NEVER GOING BACK, EVER!!! read more
