We walked in late Saturday night around 9:40pm and were seated immediately. The restaurant was pretty full but service was very quick. I always get a seafood boil bag minus seafood because I love all the flavors! I still get a good bag with corn, sausage, egg and potatoes! The hush puppies are always also delicious. Seating is very spacious inside as well. We like the spicier side so we get Cajun hot.

Extra sauce I use for my seafood pasta.

I came in for a pickup order, and I do want to start by saying the staff was really nice and welcoming. Even though the food wasn't quite ready when I arrived, they were friendly and polite, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the food itself didn't fully deliver. When we got home and opened everything up, we noticed some of the shrimp were starting to turn black, which was concerning. On top of that, a lot of the shrimp was overcooked, and the shells were sticking to the meat, making it pretty frustrating to eat. The oysters were okay, but didn't taste as fresh as I was expecting, especially for a seafood spot. That said, the seasoning and overall flavors had potential, and the service experience was positive. I just wish the quality and execution of the seafood matched it. Hoping this was just an off day, because there's definitely potential here.

Tried it for the first time; Tried fish catfish basket and hush puppies. In all honesty, I could taste the same Cajun Spices I buy from Walmart. Not impressed. Will have to try everything else that looks awesome on the Menu. But of course, it all depends on the taste of my palate.

10/10. I came here alone the day before Mother's Day and got their boil special that apparently was for 3-4 people to split... it was ginormous but it was beyond fantastic. the service was also amazing despite it being super busy at 530p. I cannot wait to go back!!

I come here quite often and I do really love it. It always hits the spot, I feel like it's a good price as well normally I share the family special with my bestie and it's only $30 something each splitting the bill. I always get the snow crab, green mussels, and shrimp. I also love the clams, I get captains special for the seasoning and its bomb. I always get extra dip on the side too, and the food comes out really fast which I appreciate!!

Best sea food place everr!! 10/10 food 10/10 customer service! Shout out to Kinzie our waiter you go girl(:

If you're looking for a place where you'll be completely ignored for hours, this restaurant is perfect. We were seated and then apparently became invisible. After waiting nearly an hour without a single server coming to our table, I had to walk to the front and ask if someone could please take our order. Meanwhile, tables that arrived well after us were already enjoying drinks and meals while we sat there wondering if anyone even knew we existed. Once we finally ordered, we waited another hour for our food. We wanted to order drinks during that time, but there was never a server around to ask. It felt like we were chasing the staff just to get basic service. The grand finale came after we left, when several of us started feeling sick and developed stomach pain. I can't prove what caused it, but after everything else that happened, it certainly didn't leave a good impression. Between the terrible service, ridiculous wait times, and feeling unwell afterward, this was easily one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. I won't be back, and I wouldn't recommend wasting your time or money here

We placed a to-go order at Captain Crab and tried the Dungeness crab in Cajun sauce (extra hot), half pound shrimp in Cajun sauce, onion rings, and crispy Cajun fries. The seafood was fresh and flavorful, but we were disappointed that the shrimp and crab were packed together in the same plastic bag, even though they were meant for two different people. It made the meal messy and less enjoyable. I wish the person taking the order had double checked instead of assuming everything should go in one bag. On top of that, the Cajun sauce was very heavy-handed with butter and oil, which overpowered the seasoning. The sides were solid--both the onion rings and Cajun fries were crispy and satisfying. Still, the packaging and the excess oil left us a little underwhelmed, especially given the price point. That said, the ambience is fun and lively based on our past dine-in experience. Captain Crab has potential, but more attention to detail with takeout preparation and balance in the seasoning would make a big difference.

If you need a seafood boil, THIS IS THE SPOT! I have been coming here for the last year now and truly no other seafood boil place compares. There is always a great punch of flavor and spices. Nevertheless, we ordered the Captain Special Boil w/ Captain special flavor & Hot level. It's the perfect amount for 2 people. We also ordered a side of rice and Cajun fries with additional lemon pepper seasoning. BOMB! The food came out pretty quick which was great because I was starving. The whole setup came out at the same time and the temperature to all the food was perfect. We destroyed the seafood boil and only left a couple shrimp in the bag... I would say the shrimp was cooked perfect meanwhile the lobster tail was a bit overcooked. Aside from that, our server was very kind and gave us all the goods to enjoy the meal. Of course I will be coming again! Very affordable, delicious, and service is always great.

During dinner, the Operations Manager, Michael, stopped by our table to introduce himself and let us know he was available if we needed anything. He checked in with us multiple times throughout the evening, which was appreciated. However, the experience ended on a disappointing note. As we were leaving, we asked about having our parking validated and were told that nothing could be done because they had no validation tickets available. While the food and service were excellent, after spending approximately $2,500 on dinner, we expected that an Operations Manager would have the authority or flexibility to offer some alternative solution. And the way he spoke to his staff was not very nice. Unfortunately, that final interaction overshadowed an otherwise enjoyable evening and left our group feeling that this would likely be a one-time visit.

We typically prefer Michelin Star restaurants when we go out for a nice dinner but Sacramento is quite limited in this type of restaurant and we really wanted to go out for my husband's birthday. The dry aged ribeye was incredibly delicious and cooked perfectly medium rare! We had caviar and ceviche for starters and both of those were great! I will say that the caviar came with potato chips instead of crackers which I liked but they should really make sure the chips they include are all actually useable for the caviar and the condiments that go with the caviar. Many of the chips were too small to actually use but the caviar was delicious, I'd of happily just eaten it off the spoon Our sides were creamed spinach which I was disappointed with because it had Parmesan cheese on top and I don't like Parmesan cheese! We also had fries that I believe were cooked in beef tallow which I'm not a fan of but ate most of them anyway and our last side was a medley of roasted veggie's which was pretty straight forward and tasty. Our deserts were not anything special which is the way I usually like mine and they did not disappoint. Our server Brenan N. was attentive and a delight! I asked several questions about things on the menu and he didn't hesitate to give me straight forward answers which I appreciated. We will definitely visit again when we want a nice steak in Sacramento!

We decided for our last night all together we would pick a highly rated one for a special meal. Magpie Cafe right in downtown fit the bill and we were thoroughly impressed by everything. We ordered just about every special plus many other dishes, some multiple, from appetizers through to desserts. It's in a beautiful area of the city, open to the street and green park. We opted to sit outside as it was a lovely evening. The beer menu had some regional favorites, all small and well chosen. For food we went all out, and I'll let the photos speak for themselves. Everything was so colorful and presented beautifully. Highlights were the pickles, fried asparagus, anchovies, and croquettes. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable about our dishes, she added to the experience. If you're in the area, this restaurant is worth a stop. They even have a cafe in the airport!

The drink contained gin, strawberry syrup, and fresh lemon basil. It was light and refreshing and the perfect spring summer drink. Then we had the baby eggplant which was marinated in a soy glaze. It also had some sort of peanut sauce base. This was a delightful bite. Both of us were very impressed. The presentation was gorgeous. Clearly still on my eggplant craze. One of the reasons we went to Magpie was for the trout dip. In a shocking turn of events, they didn't have it. I think it was an old menu. Maybe their winter menu. This was a bummer. Instead, they had a salmon dip. We got that, and I wish it was more flavorful/smokey. Normally, I'm not a smokey seasoning person, but I think it goes nicely with fish. The chips though were really good. I love a kettle chip. I thought they would be thicker, since the dip was thicker. I'm glad they served the dip with the spoon. We also had the stone fruit salad. I was shocked it didn't come with a cheese, but after I tasted it, the creamy yogurt successfully filled that void. Once again, the plating was gorgeous. I think the peaches were good, but I can tell that later in the summer, these peaches will be even more delectable. I think the pistachios were an excellent choice to this salad. For my main course, I had the painted hills flat iron steak with a Chimichurri sauce and crispy smashed potatoes. The steak was well cooked, and with the seasoning of the chimichurri, it was a delightful bite. Sam had the gnocchi with pesto and fresh tomatoes. The gnocchi was fluffy. Both she and I thought that the pesto was good, but we both wish that we wish there was more of it. I love pesto though, so I am always going to think that. It came in dollops, rather than mixed in, so I think that was part of the problem. We also had to get dessert. I had the ice cream sandwiches. They were made with lemon thyme shortbread cookies with vanilla Guenther's Ice Cream. I wish it was a stronger vanilla taste or a flavored ice cream. The cookies were too good though. Sam had the lavender panna cotta. Normally I am not a huge panna cotta fan, but this one was delicious. It had such a strong lavender taste, in a good way. It kind of tasted like I was eating lotion because of the thickness of the panna cotta with the lavender flavor.
