The crab was not fresh at all. Had this problem once before. Seems like it has been sitting out for a while and they just reheated it. The crab was tough, and the shells were soft. The sausages that they give you are sliced so thin when you put it together it looks like about 1/4 of a sausage. The seasoning carried the whole entire meal but really disappointed in the food quality and definitely not worth $50. The service on the other hand is outstanding per usual but I don't think I would eat here again. read more

The location is great. It's in a busy shopping center near many other restaurants and stores. The parking lot is large and there shouldn't be an issue trying to park. The service was alright. It was nothing special to ride home about. Almost felt like our sever had forgotten about us a couple of times. Perhaps it was because they were very busy for dinner. They had nice music playing in the background. Our meal came out relatively quickly, I'd say within ten minutes. I loved the presentation of the meal, just a plastic bag lol. The real draw here was the food. Man oh man was this tasty. I almost wanted to leave a 3 star review but the flavor of the food is just so good I can't justify anything less than a 4. If there were half stars I'd even say 4.5. It's packed full of flavor but also not overwhelmingly spicy or anything. The corn was so good I think I might have to order just corn next time. I'm a big seafood lover but nothing here tasted extra "fishy" (those who know, know). The mussels were delicious, the crab legs were phenomenal, and the potatoes were cooked just right. I literally started drinking the sauce after I finished my food. The prices are on par for eating out in 2025. I'd say you can walk out of here for around $50 for a meal for two making this a $$$ for me. The service wasn't the best but the food was. I will be coming back. I just noticed this place recently although they opened in 2021. It is located in the very busy Walmart shopping center next to Applebees. We decided to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary today by coming here for lunch. We were seated right away as they were not busy whatsoever. Our waitress was nice and explained the menu for us after we told her it was our first time. I was really interested in the AYCE because I wanted crab. Unfortunately, the AYCE only includes one serving of crab so we passed on it. There are many choices if you don't want to do that so we both chose Option A ($47.99) which included everything I wanted, Shrimp, crab and lobster with a side of corn and potatoes with a choice of sauce. We chose Cajun mild. It came out in this huge bubble of a bag. You open it and eat with your hands! We dumped ours out on the plate while I saw others just pick out of the bag. Luckily they supply you with a roll of paper towels, gloves and a bib. It is MESSY!! Was thankful for the gloves as I had a cut on my finger and those juices would have been torturous. It was tasty! I liked that it was just enough spicy but not too much or too little. Slightly salty. You got 2 half corn on the cobs and about 4 golf ball sized red potatoes. About a dozen shrimp. One cluster including claw of dungeoness crab. 6 oz lobster tail that was split in half. It was plentiful enough to satisfy my appetite but not too much to be in food coma. I ding a star for a few reasons. I didn't want to barbarian the whole meal so I asked for a fork and a knife. They do not have real silverware! just a plastic fork. No knives. I needed the fork for the whole potato and knife for the corn. I am unable to eat corn on the cob and need to cut it off so ended up giving this to my husband. Next time I will ask for all potatoes. Yes there will be a next time. The other reason is the awful music.... hip hop that was somewhat loud. We definitely rushed to eat to get away from it. It was unnerving. I suppose that is the audience they are targeting? I assumed it was a family friendly restaurant. Anyway, it wasn't enough to deter me from returning. I just might not hurry back. While I thought it was fairly priced for seafood, its expensive. $120 for two. I then saw a sign on the way out near Walmart advertising the Natomas Marketplace QR code for the center and they offer 15% discount for Mr. Crab along with other coupons for some of the businesses in the center. My second time going there, first with my family and then with my colleagues. Great experiences both time. Service was fast, both times we did the all you can eat boil (definitely worth it if you just want to eat!), food was good. Server also let us take home our remaining! Yesterday, my family and I visited Mr. Crab for the first time. We arrived between 1:40 and 2:00 p.m. I was actually hesitant to eat there because I had read several one star reviews beforehand and thought we should go somewhere else. Unfortunately, I wish I had listened to my intuition. When we arrived, the restaurant looked nice inside. The young lady at the front register was friendly, and so was our server. We ordered our food, and it was brought out in a timely manner. My family seemed to enjoy their meals, except for my special needs son. I ordered the chicken tender basket for him. While he was eating, he told me there was something wrong with one of his chicken tenders. My son is a child with special needs, so I immediately took a closer look. To my shock, there was a piece of wire sticking out of the chicken tender. I have attached a photo to this review. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I immediately called our server over and showed him what we had found in my son's food. He then asked the woman at the front register, who I believe was the manager, to come to our table. I explained the situation, and she apologized for our experience. I told her this was completely unacceptable and that we no longer felt comfortable finishing our meal. We just wanted to leave. She said she understood, took the chicken tender with the wire in it, and went into the kitchen. At that point, I was very concerned for my son. I took him outside while my oldest daughter stayed behind to speak with the manager. My daughter later told me that the manager said the piece of wire supposedly came from a cleaning sponge. Regardless of where it came from, it should never have ended up in anyone's food. This was a horrible experience. I understand that accidents can happen, but this was a serious safety issue that could have become life-threatening. Thankfully, my son noticed something was wrong before swallowing it. This was 100% preventable, and I hope the restaurant takes the necessary steps to ensure this never happens to another customer. read more

We had to wait a few minutes to be seated, but this experience was well worth the wait. The raw oysters were fresh, properly chilled, and delicious. I've always loved this place and used to come here regularly with my family. The food has always been good, and I've referred many people here over the years. Unfortunately, our most recent experience completely changed my opinion. We came in as a group of nine and were told we couldn't be seated together, so we were split into two tables four people at one and five at the other. While waiting for our food, we were simply talking to each other between the two tables. The manager approached us and said we were not allowed to talk to each other and that if it continued, he would add a gratuity charge. That interaction alone ruined the entire experience for me and my family. The way it was handled was unnecessary, unprofessional, and disrespectful. Good management is about communication and customer service, and unfortunately, this was lacking. Because of this experience, I will not be returning, and I will no longer be recommending this place to others which is disappointing, considering how much I used to enjoy coming here. This is a closest cajun cuisine place close to Where I stay and I make a stop here everytime I am craving spicy creole seafood. The ambience is great, love the flavors and the food. We ordered a soda and the Combo B with added sausage and boiled egg, classic Cajun mild and when I tell you this is the best seafood boil I've ever tried, I mean it! I was a little hesitant at first because someone I know said it wasn't good, but me and my mom decided to give it a try since we were craving a seafood boil. And didn't want to drive 30mins to downtown for boiling crab. We went around 12ish and only waited about 5 minutes. Our food came out hot, juicy, and smelling amazing. That first bite was everything! The seasoning was on point not watered down at all (like boiling crab) and packed with flavor in every bite. I definitely recommend trying this place out. UNREAL if you wanted anything like lobster there was an extra charge but the amount of choices you had for protein that came included it wasn't really necessary. Great location! Huge restaurant inside with lots of seating. Good atmosphere. Great service. After reading reviews we had only deep fried food. I love their catfish & sweat potatoes fries. Hubby had shrimp & fries. We shared a side of hush puppies. Everything was good! I love their batter and everything tasted fresh. I eat sushi 2 or more times a week, so I'm picky about my fish. The only complaint I have is with their cleanliness. We were in the restaurant business, so I know. They need to clean their glass doors every day. The host was standing for hours not doing anything but reading his phone. Clean the damn doors inside & out (handles too) & anything else that is dirty. The top of our paper towel roll was dirty. The bathroom floors haven't been mopped for a very long time. Everything else looked ok. The food was good & I may be back for a to-go order. read more

Food and service were among the worst experiences I've had in many years. The server was very impatient overall, specially explaining the food with an attitude that seemed she didn't want to work there. I've had cajun style food in the past and this was not what I expected. It is crab season. I went to Mr. Crab because on their website and at the restaurant's monitor displaying the menu, states: Dungeness Crab (Seasonal) (Market Price). This says to me that it is fresh crab since there is another crab item that says (Frozen). The waiter says all the crab are frozen. You can tell the difference in taste between a fresh and frozen crab. They did not say the ran out, only that all the crabs are frozen. Very disappointed but decided to stay and eat. I had ordered crab and clams. I was informed that I could order 1 lb. of crab legs. When the order came, I got crab and shrimp. They corrected the order after verifying my order. I found out afterwards; I only got 1/2 lb. of crab legs and charged for 1/2 lb. Again, the order that arrived was incorrect but didn't know that until the bill came. I would not recommend eating here if you are after crab. read more

I'm not sure why a lot of recent reviews were so bad. Someone complained about the music, but they were playing a great selection of modern rnb, moody indie, and 90's hip hop. Kendrick, Lana Del Rey, Drake, etc. Lots of empty tables on a Friday night, so I can safely assume they may some staffing issues when it gets pretty busy. The food was great! We got a Combo B [1 lb shrimp (no head), 1/2 lb snow crab] and an additional 1/2 lb snow crab. Seasonings tasted great although my wife thought it to be very buttery. For some reason our batch of crab came out with the legs half full of meat. It was quite odd and we asked the server. She didn't seem to know why that would happen, but she kindly offered to send an additional 1/2 lb of snow crab. Food: 6/10 but presentation is pretty! The food is good but I wish there was more flavor. The service is just okay to me too. The servers could be more friendly at times or accommodating. But I've had worse. The restaurant itself isn't extremely loud and I've never seen it be overly crowded to the point where there's a huge wait. But it's almost always been filled when I've eaten in. We ordered a Combo C (crab, crawfish, crab, clams, and shrimp) and added a pound of their green mussels. We ordered the "everything sauce" w/ the 1st level of heat. We were impressed with the presentation and was excited to dive in. The crab was previously frozen and the texture and taste made it obvious- but expected. Totally wish that the sauce was better mixed because the bottom of the pan was all butter and the good stuff was sporadically sprinkled on top. For a 1st level of heat, there was no heat. The sauce was just okay. Would we come back? Probably. Wouldn't get the crab and would go up another level of heat..and maybe mix the sauce before eating. Unsettling experience despite good food: Did the all-you-can-eat deal after the waiter confirmed snow crab legs were included in the first round. When the bill came, they sneakily charged them as an add-on. I questioned it--it was removed. But then I noticed they automatically added gratuity, even though we were only a party of 5 and the sign clearly said automatic gratuity is for parties of 6 or more, no exceptions. Couldn't sneak in the crab legs, so they tried this instead. Worse, they left the tip line open--hoping you'd double tip if you didn't notice. The audacity. Good thing I caught it. I didn't tip, as the gratuity was already added. Good food, but shady practices. Review your check very carefully--or they'll get you. I won't be returning. read more

Unfortunately, we visited for our very first and very last time. We made the mistake of ordering the catfish po boy; ate half of it bc it wasn't very good and ate barely any of the soggy and cold sweet potato fries. Ordered the fried combination plate and barely touched it and took it to go and got refills on our water with lemon. Here's the worst part: Against our better judgment, because the place already looked sketchy and questionable (as well as having bad reviews), we ordered only half a dozen oysters on the half shell (rather than ordering more like we normally would have done, and thinking that if they happened to be good, we could just order more) and should have known better. Both he and I tried one and instead of spitting them out like we should have done but not wanting to be rude in a public setting, we finished eating them and paid the price only a few hours later. I will spare you the grizzly details of what he and I went through, for roughly the next 24 hours, but needless to say it was not pretty. Upon calling and trying to speak to the manager about the situation, he was both rude, defensive , disrespectful, and condescending and demanded for a doctors note, rather than choosing to be empathetic, embarrassed, understanding, respectful, or in the least kind and polite. He continued on to try to make excuses and argue (making himself sound even more aggressive, pathetic, and guilty), instead of choosing to try to be rational and act decently and professionally. I decided that since he chose to act with such contempt, I had no other option than to call the health inspector who evidently is very familiar with this person and establishment and let's just say that you might want to look at not only their other reviews, but their health inspection reports. The facts don't lie. I'll admit that it's our mistake for attempting to eat at this joke of a place and wasting our time and money. Needless to say, the leftovers went straight into the trash, not even good enough for the dog. Don't get food poisoning like we did and spend a day feeling like crap, just avoid this place altogether. We're still nervous about eating because we feel so terrible and nervous about what might happen when coming into contact with solid foods. No thanks for frozen, obviously mishandled, who knows what you truly do with your food and how it's stored and prepared, nasty fare. The lack of patronage, the unkempt atmosphere, the poor service and attitude from the manager, the terrible decor and presentation, and everything in between is just terrible and disgusting and I'm certain you are not only losing money, but you will be shut down soon enough.
