I have seen this place multiple times and I heard it was good. So I doordashed some food it's my first time trying the place. They had a special for buy one get one free which was perfect cause I wanted lemon pepper wings because I thought it would be a dry rub but instead it was a sauce so I didn't really care for them. I looked to be able to buy a side of ranch and I couldn't see it so I requested it and that wasn't in the bag. I also got the hot wings as the other flavor and they were just your topical buffalo wings nothing special or different but still tasted good. It was ok you got about 16 wings for $17 so not bad just wish it was a dry rub. I should of ordered some sides to try out. Thank you for the response I guess I did miss that. This place is tucked away near a pawn shop. It's hidden and if you don't know it was there, you're going to miss it. And you'll be super disappointed that you did. The fry on the food is first class! Great crunch and NOT dry. We got cheese sticks, nuggets, and a shrimp po boy. All of it is amazing. They add a slight dusting of powder sugar on top of their seasoning and it just elevates the food. The service was old school great! Very polite and accommodating. We felt like we were a part of their regulars! I brought my son and he loved it. He's a picky eater and with this food, he just kept eating and saying how good it is. I'm so sorry for not posting my experience at Ray's Chicken and Fish so late. The person that worked the counter was really friendly. We ordered two orders of Chicken Wings and Cat Fish, side order of Fried Okra and for desert a slice of Chocolate. The order was to go so we did open the bag until we got home. Oh my goodness i was really counting on eating the Fried Okra but it was not in the bag. However, the food was still heat hot and tasty seasoned to perfection. We really enjoy Ray's ! We've been driving to the Stockton location to fix our cravings for seafood. So convenient that the Fulton Avenue location is now open. Currently only take out , we decided to take our lunch to the nearby golf range for lunch. Not pictured was a crab cake combo. Gotta admit, the crab cakes are just OK. This is purely about the food as my coworkers and I doordashed this place. We decided to give it a try as it seems to cater to a more true southern cuisine style. Their menu is extensive and almost everything can be fried lol. I first got the fish burger and fried okra. The burger was a 2 for a deal which made it a great price. It reminded me of McDonald's fish filet just with a thicker bread and more fresh fish. It was delicious. This is my first time trying fried okra and I got to say while the batter was good I realized I'm more of an okra in soup and curry type of person. We tried it again the next day and I got the ranch flavored cheese bites which my coworkers and I enjoyed. I love to eat at Ray's chicken and fish but yesterday which was July 9th I went in there and ordered a three-piece combo chicken catfish and shrimp and it was burnt and it wasn't good at all and that was very surprising and then I called today talk to one of the owners or the manager or something of that nature about the issue and you can hear people in the background like they were getting really humpy and puffy like who hi what and then she had and I asked her if there was anything that she can do about it and and they flat out said no so that upset me very greatly and that's why I am writing the post for Ray's Fish and Chicken this was the one on Fulton avenue now he has one and Stockton California now I don't know if they're the same but if they have the same customer service as this one has then I give them all a thumbs down hate to do that but you know they could at least work with me and said next time I come in you can get half off of a meal or something like that but none of that was offered it was just that nothing there's nothing they can do I said okay fine hung up the phone read more

One of my favorite spots! I absolutely love the catfish--seasoned just right and always perfectly crispy. The fries are fire too--never disappoint. But the sides? Big no. The mac & cheese looks and tastes like the boxed kind you give to a child--nothing homemade about it. And the dessert tastes like a cheap dollar store snack--plain, no flavor, just disappointing. After driving 20 minutes there and 20 minutes back, it almost feels like it's not worth it. I stopped here on my way home from work first time visiting. I received 3 wings; 2 pieces of basa and 2 pieces of snapper. The chicken on the out side they sprinkled white seasoning mix on it. Six stars out of five for me!! I lived in St Louis for nearly 40 years and, having grown up on both coasts, I was used to SEA (salt water) fish, etc. However, St Louis quickly educated me on river fish - Buffalo being the one I liked the most! The go to fish fry meal was Buffalo fish, fried nice and crispy, spaghetti and Cole slaw. So good! Ray's replicated that St Louis experience for me. The fish was hot and crispy and seasoned perfectly. I ordered the 3 piece dinner with Cole slaw and fried corn on the cob. The biggest difference between the St Louis version and Ray's was the portion size. St Louis experience was decades ago when everything was cheaper and portion sizes were larger.But I ain't mad. I ended up taking home 2 of the 3 pieces home because I filled up on one piece, the 3 pieces of fried corn on the cob, the delicious spaghetti, slaw, and cornbread! The fried corn on the cob was a delightful surprise. The batter added flavor and I think it kept the kernels from popping in the hot grease. I happily ate all three pieces included with my order. The Cole slaw was also delicious and added that cooling, creamy element that added to the overall satisfaction of the meal. I do not consider Sacramento a great restaurant city, but I am so excited to have found this place that I decided to take some fish and sides for a family event we're having on Saturday. They also have a large and varied dessert case filled with a variety of cakes, pies, cobbler, and other sweet delights - all made from scratch. I bought a sweet potato pie and a peach cobbler. I am too full to taste yet, but I will share my thoughts about them when I try them. The eat in area is small - maybe 6 tables but they have maximized the space. There is a cooler on one wall with beverages and the wall next to the counter is the dessert wall. I meant to take photos but forgot. This a family owned business and they have 3 stores in the area - Stockton, this one, and I forgot the third place. It seems that this family brought this restaurant concept here from the Bay Area prior to the pandemic because of rising costs and other problems. I'm very glad they did! Everyone that I interacted with was kind and patient. I genuinely felt welcomed! Funny story: when I began my order, the lady stopped me and asked if knew what I was ordering. I told her about the fish and assured her that I knew exactly what I was ordering. She said that that Californians that order think that it is some fish prepared with a buffalo sauce like Buffalo chicken. I hope to return soon and bring others along to enjoy the many things they offer. I can't wait for my family to try the fish, spaghetti and other sides on Saturday!
