We got the 3 piece fish (pollock) which comes with fries. Plus side order of oysters and 2 cole slaws. Catfish and cod priced higher. We mixed and matched the malt vinegar, home made tartar, cocktail sauce and ketchup rotating between each bite. Plenty good chunks of fish versus the crunchy shell. I'll pass on the oysters next time because it was more crunch than meat. The very powerful kitchen vent prevented cooking smells from reaching the tables. It was more food than we needed. Would definitely go back in a few months. Can't eat this stuff too often, but it's darn good. read more

Everything is cooked to order thus a bit of a wait but love the freshness and like that it's not sitting there. It's decent size but not too big of a restaurant, There are a good amount of tables if you want to dine in, but since it was super busy, we decided to take out instead since there wasn't any tables left. an establishment that has an old school diner feel and is very clean. the man who took our order was very helpful and hospitable! he answered all of our questions and gave us extra sauce and lemon wedges. got a 3 piece and it came with chips, a fried zucchini, and an onion ring. the food is fried to order, so it was fresh and steaming when we got it. the fish is decently sized, and the batter is nice and crispy. the ratio of batter to fish is also great. their house made tartar sauce is really yummy and they also give you a squeeze bottle of it if you dine in! will definitely be coming back. read more

A lovely small eatery for fish and chips! Classic b&w checkered flooring with good seating and cafe tables. I shared breaded Alaskan Pollock with a couple pieces of fried zucchini and onion. These were large fish pieces! The chips or fresh French fries were well sized and delicious. Everything is fried fresh and well done. Seen there was new owners again. I came here when it was rhetorical OG Cape Cod. Cape cod was king!! Then it became PJ's fish and chips but PJ's sucked more than BJ's IYKYK. Big fish was good but there was a few things I didnt like. The fish was good it was well battered, the flavor was there but.... The fish was a cheaper quality. Alaskan pollack instead of Cod. The pieces of fish were small af. They gave me a big onion ring and some zucchini slices with my order. The fries looked a lil too brown, maybe they were double fried. We had to go ask for forks we had to go ask for lemons. The lemons were nasty they were in a container that looked like it was on the fridge for the past week. They were slimy yet dry if that makes sense. The customer service was alright, the guy taking the order spoke very little English so it was hard for him to understand my questions and my order. The vibe in there was chill, it wasnt to bright, when we first got there it was dead but I guess we brought business cuz it got busy quick. Besides the Alaskan Pollack fish they also had catfish as an option. The calamari that I ordered was also good but they cut em in a different way that i'd never seen they were like little scoops. I'd be back to try it again, it's no Cape COD thats for sure. If u never had cape cod then ur good cuz u wont be comparing them to each other. They are in the same location as two previous fish and chips, but with a new name and under new management. My husband said that the staff were very friendly and engaging while he waited for our pick up order. We each ordered a three piece of fish which came with chips, and they also threw in a few pieces of deep-fried veggies, such as zucchini and onion rings. We also ordered some hush puppies and some deep fried mushrooms. It was a ton of food! The pieces of fish were large and well battered, as were the veggies and mushrooms. There's definitely something for everyone and you do not need to just get the fish although I highly recommend it because it's fantastic! The service is fast and easy. Decor is casual, modern and updated. I ordered the 2-piece Combo and extra Zucchinis. The fish is fresh and melted in my mouth. Onion Rings were delicious and the Zucchinis were a must have for me to go with my fish and chips. Delicious as always. Just saw that they recently added some new items to the menu! Ordered a Chicken Teriyaki, Fish n Chips, Onion Rings, and calamari. The chicken was moist and flavorful!! It also came with rice and a salad that was quite delicious. Fish n chips were as good as always. Onion rings and calamari appetizer were a big hit with our group as well! The staff were friendly and attentive as always making sure our food was to our tastes and that we had plenty of condiments to go along with our food. I really like their tartar sauce and the malt vinegar goes well with the fish. They recently added some beer choices so I really enjoyed an ice cold coors to go with my food! This fish was tasteless. The batter overwhelmed the fish and was mushy on the underside, indicating it's not fully cooked. The white sauce in a squeeze container is definitely NOT tartar sauce by any side by side comparison. Fries are decent. On the plus side, a generous slice of deep fried zucchini plus a single onion ring is nice. In the "no" column is a teensy container of coleslaw for $2. The lumpia was cooked just right, but were bite size. The onion rings were also good. The fish and oysters failed my test. The oysters were horrible tasting and the fish was very thin. Both were handled beautifully by the cook, but the fish was thin and the oysters were not good. They apparently make a lot of their own sauces - they match up with the meal. Big fish has a great assortment of fried fish with homemade sauces. I ended up ordering the fried fish with oysters. The weight didn't take too long and I decided to have my meal in the restaurant . Patricia arrived with homemade tartar sauce and homemade cocktail sauce. There was also malt vinegar on the table. The plate came with nice leaf-sized oysters a lemon along with fried onion rings. I really appreciate that the batter was very light and crispy. The fish was very fresh and flaky. I could appreciate that it was fried in New oil. The restaurant didn't have the AC on however there was a cooler blowing which kept the temperature nice. Overall I definitely would come back to try some of the other things on the menu. read more

I've been coming here for years. This is the third or fourth owner. First owner were Asian and besides fish and chips they had a line of Japanese cuisine. They had it for years it was excellent. Last three owners only a few years then sell. Current owners cleaned up the place remodeled but chairs are rock hard can't sit long without pain. Pricer than previous owners and smaller pieces of fish. The gave an onion ring and zucchini slice but the tempera batter is heavy. I could go without that for fatter pieces of fish. Quality isn't there. However it's cleaner inside than previous owner. If you want fish and chips go to Oceans in Arden area. Prices are better and fish is bigger. read more

The place appears to have new ownership now and the renovations they've done has completely transformed the vibe and especially the food. The fried fish was so light, flakey, and crispy--can't go wrong. My buddy crushed the onion rings and I devoured the fried zucchini, so we each ordered additional sides of both--and potentially another beer or two (look, who's to say, it was a good day on the golf course).
