Wanted to write this review while my disdain for this restaurant was still fresh in my heart. We came here for Father's Day with a group of 5. Hostess stand was empty and when she did arrive, she didn't greet us, just walked us to a table. We waited and waited... and waited for someone to acknowledge us as multiple people cleaned tables together, waiters passed us by time after time. I finally asked who our waiter was... and was told they were "really busy" and pointed to a waiter at the register. Really busy = 6 tables. And at least 8 people working the floor. Our waiter made eye contact with our table, and then backtracked to wait on the table across from us, that was seated 15 mins after us. At least. We got up and left as they looked at us, confused for some reason. Horrible waitstaff & host. Just straight up rude. Don't waste your time or money - go to Quincy to Shaking Crab. read more

Grew up coming here when it was Legal Seafood's. Nice to see the space being used for another quality seafood establishment. My gf and I have been frequenting here for more than 14 months now. We always go for the BOILER COMBO- double up on live crawfish, clams, shrimps gets you a free lobster- a nice quality lobster to boot. Caveat- the sauce and seasoning can get a tad salty and strong so we ask for half portion on the sauces and we go medium spice which we find is good balance w the half serving of Capt Louie sauce. The garlic noodles and and Cajun fries are a must! Cajun fare isn't the most healthy option for dinner so go all out and enjoy funnel cake fries while you're at it. Highly recommend Capt Louies. Came in with a party of 5. The hostes does not have a very welcoming personality, but we were seated immediate in a very large, oversized booth that can easily seat 8-10 people. The menu portion for the boiler selection is all "MP" no prices foe the seafood selections. Ordered 3 cups of chowder and for $6, was expecting a bit more than what was served. The server dropped off paper trays for each person that had a pair of gloves and a seafood bib. They provide two different seafood shucking/cracking tools. Ordered two adult Caprisans: Mr. Rich and Madame Berry. Both can out and the serving size was bigger than expected (offsets the chowder). Sides of garlic noodles came out next and boy are they garlic!!! Very good. Our fried orders came out next: calamari, wings, and fish. They were big orders, but the calamari was slightly skimped. Good portion of fries. The lemon pepper fries are a surprise flavor. Cajun fries was as expected. Finally the boiler combo bags came out. Bag 1: king crab, crawfish, mussels with free clams. Bag 2: shrimp (head off), mussels, crawfish with free clams. Both ordered as Louisiana. Bag 1 was ordered as medium spicy, but came out as mild. Bag 2 was ordered as mild, but came out as medium spicy. At first, those who had Bag 2 thought the spiciness was from the sauce and did not try anything from Bag 1, in fear of it being too spicy. It wasn't until we've dug in a bit that the spice caught up to Bag 2's patrons that we spoke out that it was spicy! Then Bag 1 patron stated theirs wasn't spicy (when it should've been medium spicy). Then Bag 2's patron tried Bag 1 and it was not spicy at all. There was a mix up in the level of spiciness and was not realized until too late. So we powered through. Other than the spicy mix up and the size of the chowdwr, the overall experience was good. Portions are good. Prices are unknown, therefore damage is not known until the check comes. Live crawfish is out of the season. Since no crawfish, we ordered 2lbs of shrimps head on and 1lb of snow crab, we ended up having 1lb of free mussels or clams. I am disappointed of the size of snow crab since the legs are the size of a blue crab which mean is it small. Its make the leg salty and less meat, does not worth the price. The shrimp is okay, the size is 30-40 which is average size. The lousiana seasoning is salty than usual but just mean less dipping the seafood in the sauce. The free clams was okay not much since the shell is heavy. For 3lbs of seafood, it cost $56. I really wish hot n juicy is around the area, better seafood size, combo sets, and the sauce. read more

I have eaten crawfish from the west coast (boiling crab) and in the south (various places all over Texas), so when Boston finally opened a few seafood boil places of their own, I had to try each and everyone of them. Unfortunately I was disappointed each and every time. I lived in Texas for a year and I ate seafood boil about 2-3 times a week so I know what good seafood boil is. I was so happy when Cap't Loui opened up because it's literally a five minute drive from my house. I had visited plenty of times, it was one my biggest craving when I was pregnant. I didn't want to give a real review until they had their live crawfish because that's my go to. Now that I had their live crawfish, let me tell you, it was delicious! It was juicy, saucy, and super flavorful. The crawfish looked like it was on steroids! I only got two pounds because I didn't want to get my hopes up, but as soon as I devoured all two pounds I wanted more but it was past their last call. I felt so satisfy when I left because it's been awhile since I had good crawfish that I didn't have to travel out of the state for. Other than their crawfish, I love their shrimp with head on and its funny because, I'm not even a shrimp type of person. I have literally never gotten shrimp when I go to a seafood boil places, but the shrimp here was so fresh and it's now another one of my go to. Along with that I enjoy their snow crab legs. The usual sauce i get with my seafood is the Louisiana sauce which is pretty much a little of all their sauces combined and for my spicy level is around medium to hot, depending on the mood I'm in. I always get their garlic noodles (they're unlimited) and occasionally I get either their cajun fries or lemon pepper fries, clam chowder and the raw oysters, these never disappoint. Indescribable. Cap't Loui is out of this world. I usually go to the Loui Loui in Allston and it's one of my favorite spots. When I heard that Cap't Loui was opening up, I couldn't be any more excited. Located by the South Shore mall, it's the best place to go to after you've spent hours on end shopping. Upon entering, everything was perfect. The decor is so cozy and makes you feel like you're eating right at the docks. I didn't have to wait long to be seated and our host was super nice! The menu at Cap't Loui and Loui Loui are pretty much the same. I've been to places like Boiling Crab in SoCal, but I have to admit that Cap't Loui is by far more flavorful and fresh. I always get half mussels and half shrimp, with medium Louisiana sauce, and if you get the combo, you get a free side! The sauce here is the best cajun blend I've had. I can tell that they use real butter and they don't skimp out on anything. The garlic noodles here are an absolute must try if you ever stop by this restaurant. The noodles always have that perfect bite and is packed with garlic flavor. They use fresh garlic and none of that powdery stuff. They're currently doing an unlimited garlic noodle special, but not sure when that will end. The fries here are delicious as well, covered with that good Cajun spice. If you and your party are still hungry, I'd also recommend the wings! Fried goodness and crispy with every bite. Everything that you order here at Cap't Loui or any of the Loui Loui stores are always fresh, not one thing is frozen. Comparing this to any other Cajun seafood boiling places, this beats all of them. The service and food is impeccable at Cap't Loui. I've been to this spot twice and several times at the Allston location and I always thoroughly enjoy the seafood boiler. I am a bigger fan of the Allston location, but the Braintree location is still a fav. Each time I have gone I have chosen to order the seafood boiler with Lemon and Louisiana sauce combined. My partner and I usually do the pick four boiler combo so that we can get the free lobster. I think it is worth the price you pay. I think it would be a good meal to have with 2-3 people as we have had to take some leftovers home a few times when it has just been the 2 of us. If you were picking sides to throw in your boiler I'd go with the sausage, corn, or potatoes. All are great at soaking in the sauce at the bottom of the bag. The garlic noodles are my absolute favorite side. By themselves they are great, but mixing it in with the sauce from the bag is the way to go! The pictures I attached to this review were from a lunch I had here recently. Do know that their lunch boiler does not have anywhere near as much seafood as the normal ones do. It was about $11 so I didn't expect much, but I didn't think I got my money's worth. You're better off going for dinner and splurging. My SO ordered fried shrimp with Cajun fries. I got the adult caprisun Dr. Yellow which was nice and fruity, not too strong and came in cute packaging. We did the pick three boiler combo (snow crabs, clams, and mussels), chose the free mussels, chose the capt loui sauce, and did mild spiciness. I usually can't tolerate spicy foods but this was well worth it! We then ordered garlic noodles on the side which helped balance out all of the seafood. We got lemon pepper fries which were a MUST GET. Wow I tried it for the first time and couldn't believe how flavorful these fries were. I'd honestly come back just for them! To start we got the chicken tenders with lemon pepper fries. Crispy with a solid crunch, but still juicy and flavorful. Also had a side of lemon pepper fries, which was quite unique, definitely something to try. The chicken also came with cajun orange remoulade sauce and this definitely brought it to the next level. Also of course got their seafood too. Had to try the classic oysters. Instagram friendly dish that's also fresh and delicious. I saw they had a promo for $1 oyster Tuesdays which I missed out on, so I'm planning my next trip back on a Tuesday! I understand why a lot of people would give this restaurant a 4-5 star review, but there are some things that bothered me a bit. The restaurant looks really cool and there are these funny street signs everywhere that go with the whole seafood theme, I thought that was really cute. Our server was very nice and attentive, he was very informative as well which I appreciated. As for the food, has anyone noticed that the menu doesn't clearly state that it's per lb so they're basically bringing you out a bag of seafood for this set price and you don't know how much you're supposed to be getting in this bag. When I went there, I saw on the bottom of the menu how they were giving out free items depending on how many items you order off the regular menu. I am a huge fan of crawfish so my boyfriend and I literally ordered four "servings?" of the crawfish - I originally thought it was going to be four lbs of crawfish since the prices seem reasonable if they were based off lbs. I even asked my server if it's going to come out in one bag and he said yes, which I was pretty skeptical about because how can four lbs of crawfish all fit into one bag and how will all the flavors be distributed evenly. When the bag came out, obviously it was not four lbs of crawfish and when I looked back at the menu, it doesn't say per lb so fair warning to anyone who wants to order more to get a free item. I got a free lobster tail, but at the end of it I felt like I overpaid for my "4 servings of crawfish and lobster tail" because the bag felt like it was only two pounds of crawfish. The sauce was thicker than usual which I found harder to dip the seafood in (especially since all the sauce was on the bottom of that pile of seafood, they only have two sauces here so there isn't much variety to choose from which I was sort of disappointed about. Another thing is that they will only count the amount of seafoods you pick to get a free item if it's all in one bag with just one sauce which sort of sucked because I wanted to try both sauces that day - this is why I felt like I wasn't getting enough food for the value. I LOVE the lemon pepper fries though, literally, I sat there and finished the entire serving of fries because it was so bomb. It was a bit salty and a big sweet which somehow just made french fries so delicious. As for the garlic noodles, I really wish I told my server to only bring out one serving instead of two because I felt so wasteful that I basically I only took two bites out of it because I was so full. It was a bit bland, so a bit more cheese and a sprinkle of salt made it a little better. Once again, order the lemon pepper fries! You won't regret it. read more

By far the best seafood boil I've had the chance to try. Really really good seasoning and flavor that can definitely make or break a boil. I got the pick 4 combo that comes with a free lobster or snow crabs. I chose clams, mussels, crawfish, shrimp (head on) and my free choice was snow crabs. I like lobster but to me, crab just tastes better. I added garlic noodles and sausage for an additional fee. Corn on the cob and potatoes came with my boil as well. I got a medium spicy level with the captain seasoning. I did order take out instead of dining in even though it was an option. I saw they were wearing face masks when I went inside to pickup my order. Btw if you do takeout, the door outside is locked during mall hours and you need to go inside the mall entrance to get in.
