I've tried a number of seafood boils around MA and Cap't Loui is definitely one of the better ones. We had shrimp and mussels with medium Cap't Loui sauce and lemon pepper and added garlic noodles and sausage. They sell by the half pound or pound with their prices listed on the walls in the restaurant based on their current market prices. The portions felt like a lot for what we ordered as we split about three pounds of seafood between three people and were all stuffed. The mussels were big and shrimp were very fresh and clean. The medium sauce was not too spicy and it also came with a potato and small corn on the cob. I thought their garlic noodles were not as good as I've had at other seafood boils, but they do not skimp on the garlic! The restaurant has a spacious front dining area where you enter from the mall with tables for larger parties and the back area where there are a lot of tables for smaller groups. All tables are lined with paper as you'd expect from a seafood boil restaurant and they use all plastic ware and cups. The service was relatively quick and attentive and they also give you gloves, bib, and a bucket for the shells as you eat. I recommend ordering combos as a group if you are hungry as you get free sides depending on how many pounds you order.
If you love seafood boils, Capt Loui is a must. I'm always trying new spots but somehow always end up coming back here because their house sauce is honestly unbeatable. I usually get the Boiler Combo, which comes with free sides, and I highly recommend adding the garlic noodles. This was also my first time trying their $1 oysters on Tuesdays and the quality was great and very fresh. Definitely my favorite spot when I'm craving seafood boil.
Dollar oyster Tuesday! Our server, she was very attentive, nice and gave me a pitcher of water so i didn't have to have her refill every 30 seconds haha. They do a good job of shucking the oysters here, no shell bits that you bite into when consuming and it wasn't gritty! The funnel cake fries were always yummy! We had that with the ice cream! We went light on the boil, got shrimp head on half lb with sausage! Regular spicy! They had ample amounts today! Hah fix the music speakers! Used to bump more! But capt Louis always convenient, easy parking and quick!
My family and I eat at Capt Loui quite often. It's the best place for seafood boil in the South Shore. The seasoning is perfect, environment is excellent, and we absolutely love their service as well. Aside from the obviously good seafood, I suggest getting their Cajun fries and wings. They're incredibly addictive.

Cap't Loui in Braintree would have to be my favorite seafood boil in all of Massachusetts. I love how their seafood boil has a bit of sweetness that compliments the strong Cajun flavors. The seafood is fresh and the mussels were big. The sausages were flavorful and everything was delicious. My only wish was that I wish their sides of rice were bigger as they were on the smaller side. The service was amazing, the servers were extremely attentive and offered refills of water very quickly. The interior is stunning with graphics drawn all over the walls that made the experience of eating there even better. I was also pleasantly surprised how the restaurant didn't have that overpowering smell of seafood that other seafood places tend to have. I highly recommend going here!
Capt Loui hits the mark when you want some indulgent seafood boil. Their Capt Loui sauce is so good! It can get really spicy but their mild is great and suits everything. Our favorite add-ins are their shrimp, snow crab, sausage and corn. The best side is their cajun fries - they're ultra thin and crispy. So tasty. Docking a point because the potatoes are just these tasteless whole boiled potatoes they just dumped into the bag. They could've at least cut them in half so they could absorb the sauce. Oysters are expensive and very average. Also the service can be hit or miss. Sometimes they're very attentive, other times they can be forgetful. They've also gotten a bit expensive over the years - $90 for a pick 3 combo, but that's to be expected.
I haven't had seafood boil in a long time so I took the chance to try it on my way back from the beach. We were seated quickly when we arrived on a weekday at 6 pm. It's decorated with some fishing-related things on the walls and huge signs of their menu items. You can choose the seafood that you like by the 0.5 lb (e.g. clams, shrimp, crawfish), sauce, and spiciness. Sides include rice, corn, noodles, and potatoes. There are also combo options to save a bit of money. We didn't have a huge appetite so we picked our own: shrimp, mussels, sausages, potatoes, and rice. Once you order, they lay down a mat, bucket for shells, and bibs for you to wear. The food was really good. I loved the Cap't Loui sauce - tangy, sweet, spicy. We left very full and happy with our meal.
Cap't Loui is still hands down the best seafood boil around Massachusetts. Great promotions and great service. Food - their Cajun sauce they make in house is so good. I usually get extra hot ($2 extra). It's spicy but a good spicy. It's bearable so you always want more. Their garlic noodles is a must to pair with your seafood boil. I usually keep it simple and get shrimp, mussels (they use green New Zealand mussels), and crawfish (live if it's available). Pick 3, you get two free sides to add on. Each order comes with potatoes and corn. Overall, it has gotten very expensive but it's just market price. That's out of their control.
We had such a great experience at Cap't Loui! It was my parents' first time having seafood boil and they loved it! My dad finished his entire 4 pound bag while the rest of us shared / had leftovers to take home. Ordering style: you can choose a combination of the seafood options adding up to 2, 3, or 4 pounds. Choose the sauce (captain loui special or lemon pepper). Depending on the weight total, you have 1, 2, or 3 sides included. My favorite was the king crab and garlic noodles. We also ordered the fishermans platter, clam chowder, and funnel cake fries. All so delicious! The cajun fries were SO GOOD. I know I'll be craving those frequently. I was most impressed by the amenities provided! There were different-sized gloves, hair ties, lotion, hand sanitizer, and mouthwash available. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. I would definitely come here again!
Cane here on a Tuesday evening for the $1 oyster deal and was happily pleased with the quality of seafood! We got a dozen of $1 oysters and they were so fresh and tasty. They were pretty large and meaty oysters too! I've been to a lot of $1 oyster places around the Boston area and I'd have to say this is one of the best I've had in terms of quality and taste. I appreciate how they give tabasco sauce as well. We also got some seafood boil that was delicious. I definitely recommend the calamari -- you get a lot for 1/2 a pound! The calamari was not rubbery at all. The mussels were also really good, not too chewy. The shrimp was also cooked well too. The classic Capt Loui sauce was tasty, super flavorful with lots of Cajun seasoning that pairs amazingly with their garlic noodles. Their garlic noodles definitely deliver on the garlic! I love how the seafood boil comes with a corn and a potato (I got an extra potato!). Service overall was good, our food came out quickly and our server was friendly. We came right before it got busy, but we still had to wait about 10-15 mins before getting seated. The restaurant is very clean with lots of seating and the vibes are casual. Parking is super easy since it's in the mall. I'd definitely recommend coming here! The food is tasty, well priced, and good quality. I plan on coming back here on Tuesday for more $1 oysters :)

I'm never disappointed when I come here or order takeout. I usually get the lobster and shrimp boil but tonight I tried the snow crabs and shrimp and my cravings were satisfied to the max so flavorful juicy with all the right spices!!!! read more

The seafood here is good! I'm a big seafood fan but I've always ignored this restaurant for some reason but I love the captain Loui sauce it's definitely different from Shaking Crab! The drinks were good! The only thing I didn't like were the prices! It's expensive a King crab is literally $80 smh read more
Grew up coming here when it was Legal Seafood's. Nice to see the space being used for another quality seafood establishment. My gf and I have been frequenting here for more than 14 months now. We always go for the BOILER COMBO- double up on live crawfish, clams, shrimps gets you a free lobster- a nice quality lobster to boot. Caveat- the sauce and seasoning can get a tad salty and strong so we ask for half portion on the sauces and we go medium spice which we find is good balance w the half serving of Capt Louie sauce. The garlic noodles and and Cajun fries are a must! Cajun fare isn't the most healthy option for dinner so go all out and enjoy funnel cake fries while you're at it. Highly recommend Capt Louies. Be prepared for lingering sauce on your tongue and fingers the next day!!! Only gripe is the waits can be long and service isn't always the most prompt. read more

Came in with a party of 5. The hostes does not have a very welcoming personality, but we were seated immediate in a very large, oversized booth that can easily seat 8-10 people. The menu portion for the boiler selection is all "MP" no prices foe the seafood selections. Ordered 3 cups of chowder and for $6, was expecting a bit more than what was served. The server dropped off paper trays for each person that had a pair of gloves and a seafood bib. They provide two different seafood shucking/cracking tools. Ordered two adult Caprisans: Mr. Rich and Madame Berry. Both can out and the serving size was bigger than expected (offsets the chowder). Sides of garlic noodles came out next and boy are they garlic!!! Very good. Our fried orders came out next: calamari, wings, and fish. They were big orders, but the calamari was slightly skimped. Good portion of fries. The lemon pepper fries are a surprise flavor. Cajun fries was as expected. Finally the boiler combo bags came out. Bag 1: king crab, crawfish, mussels with free clams. Bag 2: shrimp (head off), mussels, crawfish with free clams. Both ordered as Louisiana. Bag 1 was ordered as medium spicy, but came out as mild. Bag 2 was ordered as mild, but came out as medium spicy. At first, those who had Bag 2 thought the spiciness was from the sauce and did not try anything from Bag 1, in fear of it being too spicy. It wasn't until we've dug in a bit that the spice caught up to Bag 2's patrons that we spoke out that it was spicy! Then Bag 1 patron stated theirs wasn't spicy (when it should've been medium spicy). Then Bag 2's patron tried Bag 1 and it was not spicy at all. There was a mix up in the level of spiciness and was not realized until too late. So we powered through. Other than the spicy mix up and the size of the chowdwr, the overall experience was good. Portions are good. Prices are unknown, therefore damage is not known until the check comes. The only thing good about this location is the food. The manager refused to seat people in the back where it was spacious and cool so every sat in the noisy front area, crammed like sardines. Our server was HORRIBLE. I ordered cabernet sauvignon and he brought sauvignon blanc to me. When I pointed out HIS error, he had the AUDACITY to say, " Are you sure that you didn't order sauvignon blanc?" He also got the food order wrong. He brought us a Dungeness crab instead of snow crabs. Asking me the same question......the food was delicious. That's about it. read more

The food was amazing!! I think this place is better than shaking crab. It is conveniently located in the mall. The servers were super friendly and even included a free dessert for my birthday. The oysters were fresh and I loved them! I wish the seafood bag had more sauce. We didn't get to taste the real flavor until we ate some of the top. The clam chowder could've been better. Love that there's finally a quality seafood broil place in the south shore!! I've been here a couple times and it is probably the best I've had in MA. The seafood is fresh and the sauces pack a ton of flavor! Not the mention the unlimited refills of garlic noodles. I will definitely frequent this establishment. But... Overall I think this place is a 4.5. The only reason why I'm not giving this place a full 5 star rating is because the service I've received during my multiple visits. The waitress/waiters are fine and are as attentive as s/he could be. I understand when it's a full house and they were short handed. My complaint is the waiting to be seated situation. I stood behind a giant party waiting to be seated and there wasn't a person in sight. Some lady pushed past everybody, went to the counter, and got seated BEFORE everyone else. That wasn't upsetting cause I immediately went to the counter and asked if I had to put my name in, the person said no. Then another chick came and took down the names of the people behind me... and when I told her the previous host said I didn't have to put down a name, she corrected me and said that person was not a host... but she'll seat me first in 20 mins... I would've left, but another person came and sat me down within 2 mins. Get your seating situation worked out, PLEASE. read more

Seriously obsessed with this place!! And the location? Even better! I mean where else would you want to go to after hours of shopping? I loved Loui Loui in Allston, so I'm very familiar with the food options here. LOVE their garlic noodles (it's even better when you mix it win your Louisiana sauce). That alone can be a meal on it's good. So delicious and flavorful. AND NOT DRY!!!! Oh and did I mention UNLIMITED?? I usually get a mix of shrimp and crawfish, and always fit in bites of the garlic noodles. You can choose your level of spicy-ness to satisfy your taste buds. This is great option because half of my family likes spicy and the other half doesn't, so we're able to mix it up and get exactly what we want! So this place is very group friendly! I love the Pick 2/3/4 options because it's a great deal for the price. Another plus for groups!! The lemon and pepper fries are my other go-to. I don't know how fries could taste so good. These fries are underrated for sure. I always order these. Another staple is the fried calamari. It comes with two different dipping sauces and cole slaw! All of these sides go perfect before, during, and after my seafood boil bag! The best part is honestly how considerate this place is. In the bathroom you have a mouthwash dispenser and lemons to cleanse your mouth. It's super cute. Overall this place is spacious, clean, delicious, friendly, and convenient! Got all the requirements! This location tastes exactly like the one in Stoneham..score!! The size of their crawfish was good and there was enough sauce in the bag to add to your noodles. They are still doing the unlimited garlic noodle promotion (just like Stoneham). This location is super convenient to get to since it's inside South Shore Plaza. My girlfriend and I will definitely be visiting more often. read more

I've been to this spot twice and several times at the Allston location and I always thoroughly enjoy the seafood boiler. I am a bigger fan of the Allston location, but the Braintree location is still a fav. Each time I have gone I have chosen to order the seafood boiler with Lemon and Louisiana sauce combined. My partner and I usually do the pick four boiler combo so that we can get the free lobster. I think it is worth the price you pay. I think it would be a good meal to have with 2-3 people as we have had to take some leftovers home a few times when it has just been the 2 of us. If you were picking sides to throw in your boiler I'd go with the sausage, corn, or potatoes. All are great at soaking in the sauce at the bottom of the bag. The garlic noodles are my absolute favorite side. By themselves they are great, but mixing it in with the sauce from the bag is the way to go! The pictures I attached to this review were from a lunch I had here recently. Do know that their lunch boiler does not have anywhere near as much seafood as the normal ones do. It was about $11 so I didn't expect much, but I didn't think I got my money's worth. You're better off going for dinner and splurging. My SO ordered fried shrimp with Cajun fries. Those were pretty tasty. Cajun fries were seasoned extremely well. read more

Omg while visiting my sister we randomly picked this place because the smell was literally jumping up our nostrils as we walked by! When we got inside it was silent like everyone was eating not saying a word lol! I knew we were in the right place! Once we ordered it took no time for our food to come out! Came here for dinner and I was so glad that my friend chose this place! We shared everything between the two of us and it was the perfect amount! I got the adult caprisun Dr. Yellow which was nice and fruity, not too strong and came in cute packaging. We did the pick three boiler combo (snow crabs, clams, and mussels), chose the free mussels, chose the capt loui sauce, and did mild spiciness. I usually can't tolerate spicy foods but this was well worth it! We then ordered garlic noodles on the side which helped balance out all of the seafood. We got lemon pepper fries which were a MUST GET. Wow I tried it for the first time and couldn't believe how flavorful these fries were. I'd honestly come back just for them! The last thing were the funnel cake fries, which were also extremely delicious. I like how they're not messy and has the perfect crunchiness. Came here last week and definitely would come here again. If you're looking for good seafood this is the place. Flavor? Immaculate. Customer service? Speedy. Ambiance? Stunning. To start we got the chicken tenders with lemon pepper fries. Crispy with a solid crunch, but still juicy and flavorful. Also had a side of lemon pepper fries, which was quite unique, definitely something to try. The chicken also came with cajun orange remoulade sauce and this definitely brought it to the next level. Also of course got their seafood too. Had to try the classic oysters. Instagram friendly dish that's also fresh and delicious. I saw they had a promo for $1 oyster Tuesdays which I missed out on, so I'm planning my next trip back on a Tuesday! Also ordered the boiler, the sauce was Capt Loui Medium, which was a good balance for those that want a lil extra kick. So satisfying and my family was hooked. Overall I'd recommend this place to any and all seafood lovers in the Boston area. read more

Amazing food as always. Great service the whole way through. Cam was super attentive. Johnny was super hospitable. We had the pick 4 with snow crab legs & sausages, chicken tenders, and chicken wings. The noodles came out fresh and extra garlicky just like we like em. Excited south shore has a place like this...I went for lunch and I was very pleased!! It's spacious inside, it's new so the place is clean. I ordered a seafood boil lunch special with Clams and Shrimps and choice of side and drink. For $10.95, you get 7 clams & 6 shrimps, 2 potatoes, 1 corn and 1 drink (good deal). I went for the Louisiana sauce with Medium spice. It was spicy and expect saltiness, definitely has a kick but the sauce was delicious/garlicky!! I understand why a lot of people would give this restaurant a 4-5 star review, but there are some things that bothered me a bit. The restaurant looks really cool and there are these funny street signs everywhere that go with the whole seafood theme, I thought that was really cute. Our server was very nice and attentive, he was very informative as well which I appreciated. As for the food, has anyone noticed that the menu doesn't clearly state that it's per lb so they're basically bringing you out a bag of seafood for this set price and you don't know how much you're supposed to be getting in this bag. When I went there, I saw on the bottom of the menu how they were giving out free items depending on how many items you order off the regular menu. I am a huge fan of crawfish so my boyfriend and I literally ordered four "servings?" of the crawfish - I originally thought it was going to be four lbs of crawfish since the prices seem reasonable if they were based off lbs. I even asked my server if it's going to come out in one bag and he said yes, which I was pretty skeptical about because how can four lbs of crawfish all fit into one bag and how will all the flavors be distributed evenly. When the bag came out, obviously it was not four lbs of crawfish and when I looked back at the menu, it doesn't say per lb so fair warning to anyone who wants to order more to get a free item. I got a free lobster tail, but at the end of it I felt like I overpaid for my "4 servings of crawfish and lobster tail" because the bag felt like it was only two pounds of crawfish. The sauce was thicker than usual which I found harder to dip the seafood in (especially since all the sauce was on the bottom of that pile of seafood, they only have two sauces here so there isn't much variety to choose from which I was sort of disappointed about. Another thing is that they will only count the amount of seafoods you pick to get a free item if it's all in one bag with just one sauce which sort of sucked because I wanted to try both sauces that day - this is why I felt like I wasn't getting enough food for the value. I LOVE the lemon pepper fries though, literally, I sat there and finished the entire serving of fries because it was so bomb. It was a bit salty and a big sweet which somehow just made french fries so delicious. As for the garlic noodles, I really wish I told my server to only bring out one serving instead of two because I felt so wasteful that I basically I only took two bites out of it because I was so full. It was a bit bland, so a bit more cheese and a sprinkle of salt made it a little better. Once again, order the lemon pepper fries! You won't regret it. read more

As far as I'm aware they have NOT discontinued the unlimited garlic noodle deal. You simply have to ask for it now. :)
Is this a year-round restaurant or will it close once summer is over?

I confess I'm a rather lazy eater. How difficult is it to get the meat out of the shells? Are the shells pre-cracked for easier eating?
The shrimp is very easy to peal and usually comes off as one shell. The snow crab can be tricky but we offer 2 different kinds of Shellers that make it a LOT easier. As for king crab and lobster simply ask one of our servers to cut them up for you…
