Bison Burger...it is how I roll. I ordered it medium...so that did not happen. Fries...cold. The boys had everything from Potato Nachos (looked like a pile of hangover goodness) to Soup (he wanted bacon and she said let me see if I can find some...eventhough the other boy had a bacon burger and we could clearly see...they have bacon)...chips and salsa are worthy. The Waitress was clueless and hates chicks.....she could have made a sweet tip....but she refused to do her job. Poor thing. I miss Lubbock bc they have schooners of beer...I have yet to see them anywhere else in my travels. It just feels fun to hold them and have an ice layer. I've been coming to Caprock Cafe for years, probably close to a decade. LOVE the "down and dirty" chicken. Everytime I'm in Lubbock I make a point to stop in for either wings, tenders, the wrap, or the sandwich. Yesterday was a great overall experience. We got there about 4:30pm and had a party of 11. The manager was very accommodating and they immediately put together tables for our party. The manger had died his mustache red for the Tech game which definitely made him look like Raider Red (bonus points for him). I asked for a different football game on the TV to which he was willing to change for me. Also took pictures of us upon request. They have drink specials everyday. I ordered a very tasty bloody Mary from that. My friends all got beer and Margaritas they enjoyed. Their sangria was only $3.50! Next time I'll have to remember that. True to form, I got the down and dirty tenders with a side salad and mashed potatoes. The tenders were mouth-burning delicious. Mixing it with ranch or the potatoes and gravy helped calm my mouth down. My friend ordered the cholula chicken wrap which she liked. Can't wait to come back next time I'm in town! read more

The ONE restaurant in Lubbock that I miss (well, since Cilantro's closed). Their green chile chicken fried steak is iconic - get the green chile anything. And since they are now smoke-free, that would remove the one thing I didn't like about the place. read more

Unfortunately our first visit was not good. We ordered hamburgers and fries and the fries arrived room temperature. The cheese sticks we ordered were like the cheese sticks I by from the grocery store. What really warranted this review and the 1 star was the service. Another table was receiving a lot of attention and we got three visits from our waitress. We literally had to wait to get a refill on water and they serve 32 oz drinks. The food was not as good as it used to and the prices were outrageous for the quality & quantity of what we order. The customer service was lacking in the waitress was not that busy but ignored us almost completely to the point that we could have left without paying which we didn't but it was possible. read more

Came in and sat at the bar. Beer was good and cold. But it seemed like one of the waitresses did not care. It was slow, and the manager was the one bussing tables and walking around while she just stood in the corner by the bar. The manager seemed to be injured as well. Amazing green-chili cheeseburgers. The fried pickles and bottle caps (fried jalapeno slices) were also really excellent. The place was very clean and service was generally good. Seems like a good place to hang out, if you're looking for some pub food. read more

Whatever you get, make sure you get it down and dirty. The food here is amazing. Great drinks as well. Staff is friendly. I don't usually get to sit down and eat, most of the time I've ordered ahead and I've taken it home or someone's brought it. This is definitely a Lubbock tradition. read more

Food's OK, service can be mixed. Outdoor patio is a big plus for about 8 months of the year. This is a strange town for sports bars; this one at least has a projection screen in addition to numerous TVs. Jammed with tables, and somehow manages to feel smaller than it is. read more

I used to love Caprock until the owners decided that they were going to increase prices, seemingly every year. It used to be cheap (1.75) to get a schooner and some grub on top of it. Last time I went it cost an average of $15 bucks a person! No thanks. Food is unique and really good, but not worth the price anymore. read more

TOO TYPICAL, TRYING TOO HARD. OK, if it's your first trip to Texas, fine, you'll like the western atmosphere, badges on the bar, etc. After that, be careful. Fare is spotty, service is casual, drinks are just OK. A dozen more like it in town. read more

Place has decent food, friendly staff and free wi-fi. I come here to watch every once in awhile and they're nice enough to turn the volume on for me and love the fact that it's no smoking [which can sometimes be hard to find in a bar in lubbock]. Very causal and laid back atmosphere. Nice big TVs to watch any sport you want. Plane stuck on the wall is a nice touch. My friends were here before me so they took it upon themselves to order some appetizers. Bacon wrapped jalapeño was delicious but wrap anything in bacon and it'll be good. Even though I prefer a smaller pickle to batter ratio, the fried pickle spears were good. I had the caprock buffalo burger and it was nice and tasty. The manager came up to me and told me they burnt my burger since buffalo meat is lean. It was nice of him to notify me. I stole an enchilada from my gf while I waited and it was ok as I'm not a big tex mex fan. I had the prickly pear margarita while waiting and I can't really recommend it. It looks purdy being all pink and stuff but too sweet for my taste. Had to order a beer to enjoy the buffalo burger with, a better combination. Fun place to watch a game in Lubbock. Good food, lots of it, cold beer, and two huge TVs. They could use a few more, but that's getting picky. I got the cheese quesadillas, literally just cheese between a tortilla.. no cheese or seasonings. The rice and beans were the best. My Margarita was literally just ice.. it hardly had any flavor and I couldn't even taste a hint of alcohol. The chips that come with the quesadillas were overcooked and greasy. The burgers here are unbelievable! I had the Guacamole burger, which I highly recommend to anyone. The burgers are very juicy and the waitress I had was attentive and friendly. Caprock is one of the best things about Lubbock. I've been to both locations, my favorite is 34th because of the patio. Servers are always so sweet and responsive. I forgot the name of the girl that helped me today, otherwise I'd leave her a compliment. The Down and Dirty Chicken Strips are something not of this world. They are ridiculously delicious-but be warned. They are VERY spicy! Great queso, diverse menu and cute restaurant. I transferred to TXST and still come to Lubbock just to get some Caprock. Burgers are good! French fries are fresh and crispy. According to the waitress this is a Sunday thing only as they are usually too busy to make your French fries to order Had the blue cheese bacon burger and the bacon cheese burger with grilled jalapeños. Delish! read more

Favorite place in Lubbock! Came here as often as I could in college. Really cool vibe and always have great service. Their queso is amazing and burgers were always spot on as well. Honestly this place was better a few years ago. The menu needs a serious upgrade. The drinks are almost always good and cold, the staff is friendly but the food isn't all that. Horrible burgers and overpriced menu items makes caprock cafe one of the most overrated experiences in Lubbock. The same goes for Orlandos.

The meat is frozen and heated up. Burgers are terrible. I brought my child here and the waitstaff was horrible handling food over my child's head. My food tasted like it had been sitting out for hours. It would make sense considering that our waitress was doing everything BUT providing service. Would NOT recommend to anyone. read more

Went to lunch with the coworkers as mentioned by Aaron and I had the Chicken Fried Steak. It was awesome as always and our waitress aka "Dimples" was the best. Gave one of the guys a hard time for paying with change and it was hilarious! We all had a good laugh. Definitely going back again! read more

Was in town with a buddy for my daughters sorority golf tournament. Hit the liquor store in the parking lot and saw this place on the other end of the strip center. Came back the next night and was pleasantly surprised. Food and drink were excellent. The customer service was even better. Will be back in Lubbock end of April and will definitely be here for one of those nights. read more

Do not go there if you only have one hour for lunch. Lunch was comped, but we still were incredibly late coming back to work after lunch. We waited 55 minutes for food including the chips and salsa. This is the second time it's happened in a month, so I'm leaving this review. read more
