The lady that helped me wAS ABSOLUTELY RUDE. And when I got to my friends house we found hair in the cookies. They were cooked with the hair in them. I was shocked and disgusted. Paid a lot of money. I called the bakery up. And the person who picked up was rude and pretty much told me I was a liar. If they have hair in the cookies they must have bugs. Cause they don't care. Disgusting. Their cookies are very good. I am in love with jelly filled pastries and the rainbow cookies are great. Aside from the desserts their breads are great too. I usually go there on a weekend to make sandwiches for the week and buy their fresh bread. It's crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They really know how to make bread high quality. I also buy their pizza dough and make homemade pizzas during the week for a quick and easy meal. The staff is nice and they just re-did the place so I would recommend checking it out! read more

Today I had the pleasure of walking into this bakery and finding a place that I would love to keep coming back to. I walked in around 8am and it smelt great! I originally came in to see if the location offered individual pieces of Carrot Cake. Unfortunately they only sell the entire cake in full. So I didn't get what I originally wanted. However, I was there and it smelt great so I decided to just buy something! I decided to buy a loaf of semolina bread with seeds, a french Elclair and a Rumbaba because they looked appetizing. I had never had a Rumbaba before and from my experience I would describe it to be something like a very light and spongy microphone shaped doughnut that's been soaked in a sweet and aromatic rum. I really enjoyed it. The eclair was great too. The french cream had a nice texture and it held together amazingly even though the chocolate drizzle and the format look so delicate. I bought a medium semolina bread (which is bigger than any baguette you can buy at stop and shop) before this moment and it's a new favorite. The bread was still slightly warm when I took my first bite, mind you I was there at 8am. It was crunchy but not hard, chewy but cooked all the way through, and had a subtle salty flavor and I would go back to buy a large next time. It was awesome. But nothing beats the person I met today working the counter. She greeted me when I came in. She was the sweetest lady with glasses and a cute hairstyle! She showed me my options by coming out from behind the counter, showing me the cakes they offered and also giving me some suggestions after I asked what she recommended. She just seemed so happy and as soon as I walked in I just got this burst of positive energy that was filling the room even before we spoke. I didn't catch her name but she was a brilliant person, was friendly and informative of what the bakery had to offer. Price: $7 on 2 medium pastries and a giant loaf of bread is a great deal! inexpensive! Great quality. Space: No where to sit, its a bakery in and out type deal. read more

My family always uses this bakery when we need cookies or pastries for holidays. I recently needed a cake to bring to dinner for a friends birthday. So I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon to see what they had. I told the girl at the counter how many people I needed it for and that my friend is a chocolate lover. She directed me to the display and showed me two cakes that fit my criteria. I decided on the Oreo cake which was a chocolate cake with an oreo filling. She even wrote happy birthday Alyssa on the cake for me too! The cake was delicious! feed 12 people and was only $18. I would say that's a pretty good deal for a delicious cake! Cannolis are the bombbbb & they have all different flavored fillings. So far I've tried plain with chocolate chips, pistachio dipped in pistachios, & pumpkin dipped in almonds. All of them are yummy! Tried the iced pumpkin latter yesterday & was not a fan. Tasted like milk with a hint of pumpkin. Because of covid, they're only letting 2 people in at a time so there was a pretty decent line outside. Can't wait to try the other favored cannolis! read more

This bakery is great. That being said the COVID protocols here leave a lot to be desired. Masks on chins instead of covering their noses and mouths. No cleaning or sanitizing between clients. They have no mask guidelines for patrons and also no way to social distance. As good as the baked goods are I don't think I'll be going back any time soon. Which is sad. read more

I've only been to capri maybe 3 times. The first 2 were for cookies nothing crazy. The third time I went in for a birthday cake. I've heard nothing but good things about the cakes and was happy to try. I picked a cake called merry go round which was in the fridge section or what I thought was a fridge. The lady took the cake out and advised me it needs to stay at room temperature for at least 2 hours before serving as its frozen.... definitely not what I expected to hear... but I wasn't about to go to another bakery during rush hour traffic... $30 for a small frozen cake.... The cake was left out for over 2 hours and when we went to eat it, it was still partially frozen. We ate it anyway... it was decent and nothing more. The cannolis that were surrounding the cake were only partially filled... the strawberries on top were completely mushy as they were frozen and then defrosted. I won't be returning for an overpriced frozen cake. read more

Unfortunately I purchased an Apple pie from here today for the first time and the pie was not up to par. Not sweet at all it was so bland and not enjoyable at all. Tastes like nothing. Capri is a Wantagh institution, and for a local, you might recognize this as the bakery on Merrick Road attached to the gift shop. I was always afraid to go in there because I knew I would knock something over. That door from the inside still haunts me. Too much ceramic. I just recognize it as Capri. My family regularly gets their bread here. The rye or wheat is creamy and soft. When our extended family of 6 eats together, we easily knock off a loaf with a tub of olivio spread. The cookies are solid and the cakes are fine as well. And when times are good, we may also get a slice or two of pizza. This is no brooklyn slice. They say it's authentic, but what's that mean? I guess it's a bakery slice. It's a large square pie that sits on the counter all day soaking up tomoto sauce and just a sprinkling of parmesan cheese. Not your traditional pizza... or maybe it is? It's not mine, but it is good and I can bet that there's foodies out there who have been dreaming of this long lost pizza for decades. Compared to Rose and Joe's' pizza in Astoria, this is much better. It's completely soft and delightful, it brings you back and makes you want to live forever. read more

Needed to get a birthday cake for my girlfriend's 30th and a buddy said that Capri is amazing. I ordered their red velvet cake and when I got there the store smelled amazing. It's a fat guys paradise in there. I had to get a couple cannolis while I was there and they didn't survive the ride home. I ordered a cake for my son's birthday and the cake was absolutely tasty, however, the frosting was toxic my son nor my family members were unable to ingest the frosting. The food coloring in the frosting tasted like pure chemicals. I will order a cake from them again, however, I would request that the frosting do not have artificial food coloring. read more

Really sad to write this. Have been coming to Capri for many years for special occasions - granted I don't stop in weekly but I always recommend and come for occasions. I've been ill for over a week but needed to pick up pastries and cookies for Christmas. I called ahead in the morning to have them ready for pickup so that I wouldn't have to get anybody sick. I felt horrible even going and looked even worse. Was trying to do society a favor! Got there and walked inside - like I said I don't come too often especially on busy days so I don't know how the line works. There were people everywhere, no order. Trying to keep my germs to myself, I buried my face into my jacket and stood near the register, to wait for my "turn"...however that would be decided. I waited for a good 15 minutes before quietly asking a girl if I could simply pay for my call ahead order. She said she would check, and I watched her go over to who I assume is the owner. I heard her say something about if I waited on line. The girl came back over and asked if I'd waited on line....what line?? I told her that yes...I've been waiting here. She goes back and tells said manager/owner. I can hear her saying something of "she needs to wait on line like every one else...." so I say I have been waiting right here! For 15 minutes! She basically did not care whatsoever and told me I need to get on line like every body else. At this point she is loud enough for the entire bakery to hear. Already out of my element - under the weather and looking terrible - I walk to what I assume is end of the line? And she is still going off about how I can't cut the line! I felt extremely embarrassed and humiliated and already trying to hide - now I'm center of attention. I was not trying to "cut" anyone. I was simply trying to pay for my order which I called ahead to do a favor. I stood there with my face in my phone because I was so embarrassed and the nicest 2 people let me know I could go in front of them because they saw me here when they got here and knew how long I'd been waiting. I was already emotional that it brought me to tears - thank god for my big sunglasses I couldn't even thank them enough. So we wait on line and manager comes over to me - as if you don't know who I am - asks me how can I help you and I say "I'm picking up my order"...she says NOTHING and moves to the woman behind me who let me stand in front of her. So incredibly nasty. Obviously I was not the only one who felt this because she said something to me about it which I replied "you get what you give"...because after all of this I will never return to Capri. So disappointed in the way I was treated on a holiday weekend. You know it is going to be busy and this is how you treat people? Not right at all. Merry Christmas Capri. read more

They must use the same cookie dough for every cookie they have because it all taste the same and are kind of heavy oh the almond extract. I stop in occasionally for a load of read and some rolls. Best bakery I've found in the area (and there's quite a few bakeries around for competition.) Everything is made so fresh there and just tastes amazing. They make their own cannoli cream fresh, and fill the cannolis at the time of your order. They have great chocolate cigars, and great cakes. Their cannoli cake is to die for. It's well worth the price. They top it with huge chocolate covered strawberries. It's just next level in the realm of cakes. The cookies are very good too.
