I visited Cappadocia with two loved ones. It's located near the train station in White River Junction, VT. When I went inside I totally forgot I was in Vermont. The counter server was kind enough to explain different menu items. We ordered a breakfast pide and a ground lamb pide. I got an iced mocha latte, one companion had a hot spiced mocha latte, and another companion had an iced latte with vanilla, I believe. The iced mocha was very good. The food took a bit of time but it was because it needed to cook in the wood fired oven. The ground lamb pide was full of spices and was very flavourful. It was tasty but it got a bit overwhelming when I was eating it alone. My friend offered to share some of her breakfast pide. I am not an egg person but upon the first few bites, I got quite emotional. It immediately made me think of a meal my late grandmother used to make. It was both a bit sad and wonderful as she had passed within a few months of me coming to Cappadocia and the memory associated with food gave me comfort. I'd recommend trying Cappadocia. It's a beautifully decorated space with some seating, it is a nice way to eat something a bit different from most of the food in the area and the food is very good. read more

Stopped in shortly before they closed for a Turkish Tea and enjoyed it. The place is very cute and very Turkish looking and took my back to my visits to Istanbul and Cappadocia. There was an American dude working the counter and I'll say he didn't exhibit what I would consider traditional Turkish hospitality. There is a screen to order from right by the door when you walk it and I guess he wants you to order from that because he was more effective than Susanna Hoffs in a Bangles video at avoiding direct eye contact. I would say if the tablet is the ordering device of choice they should put it in front of the counter rather than by the door where it's behind you. We finally figured it out and were able to order on the tablet but it was disheartening to watch a woman come in after us and stand forlornly by the counter hoping that the guy would notice her. He was great at stacking dishes, wiping down counters, etc and doing everything but acknowledging the human standing five feet from him. Anyway, just as she was about to leave he said hello and then took the order in the traditional way. The tea was good and the mood was nice and the pastries looked amazing. This could have been four or five stars with personal service. read more

Bread. Spice. Heat. Meat. Cheese. Beer. Coffee. Elaborate coffee options. This is not your average cafe. Cappadocia gets 5 stars for the exquisite level of interior design detail that looks easy and appealing until you look closer. It gets even more gorgeous and everything is eye candy the more that you look. You'll get breads using recipes that date back even to 160 BC! They are baked in a gigantic clay oven. I've seen these in Italian restaurants but never this gorgeous, pastel and decorated! The main bread here is Acma, pronounced, "ahh-schmah," I think. From the Cappadocia Cafe website: "Açma is a Turkish bagel-like bread that's soft and fluffy. The dough is twisted into a unique shape, can be enjoyed plain or with sweet or savory fillings." The most popular acma is the one covered in cheese. Then there is the plain one. I would like to try the plain one. We had the mozzarella cheese acma and it was delicious while it was warm. As it cooled, the flavors of maybe the brush of egg white on the top - for shine and as a classic baking technique - and the egg texture inside seemed a bit more present. Eat it while it's hot. Also from the website, "Börek is a savory pastry made from homemade flaky dough and a variety of fillings. This dish originated in Turkey's Anatolian provinces around 160 BC and remains a popular dish today." The Borek is a whole big fluffy thing. You have 2 choices: one is filled with a tart white cheese and this is mild and good. It almost is like sourdough in the flavor but in a cheese curd form. These cheese boreks are gigantic and reheat very well! Two of us split one, and the acma and it was filling. Definitely request a side of honey for the cheese borek, if you like a bit of sweet with the mild sour. The other borek is filled with spicy, chopped well-seasoned and oiled potatoes. Good God is this good!!! It's like spicy homefries fired-up and blanketed in an innocent, pillowy pastry. Immediately I wanted a beer to balance the level of heat but it was before 9 in the morning! Speaking of beer, they do have drafts in this cafe. From my limited Western perspective, you would never think of walking into a Middle Eastern style cafe and getting any sort of alcohol so I was impressed. Also, I have finally had an official Turkish coffee in a demitasse cup. It's been decades since my last Turkish coffee, and that was in a normal-sized mug. It has dense, powdery grounds at the bottom. It has a nice flavor, very dark. Like an espresso shot. It's served with Turkish Delight candies: rose, lemon and mint. The staff are all friendly and approachable and we really liked the people in the cafe. Not snobby. Just open and friendly when spoken to. There are many dishes to try here. From the website, "Pide or 'stuffed bread' is a savory dish of Turkish Black Sea origin." It's filled with interesting chopped veggies. We didn't get to these yet. Someone was eating something they liked like an herb pizza. I am very curious to try it sometime, if we return. And they also have ample coffee options! read more

Amazing ambiance and decorations. Overall I think it's a nice cafe but it wasn't the slam dunk go-to spot I had hoped it to be. I highly recommend tuckerbox for a bite and then maybe here for a quick coffee but wasn't the hangout I had hoped for Food: Latte 3/5- I've had a lot of lattes and this one was pretty standard, kicking myself that I didn't try to Turkish coffee Meat borek 3/5- I love Burek and have had many meat and cheese varieties during my time in Eastern Europe and going to those types of places. This one again was middle of the road General notes- they were light on the food, was extremely warm inside, and service was a little slower. I'll give it another chance soon read more

The food was genuinely delicious. I truly have not been to such a good Turkish restaurant in a while. The owner, Jackie, was incredibly kind and the place was super clean/cute. Cannot recommend this place more if you're looking for great Turkish pide!!! read more

While in WRJ, I took a small detour to the Little Istanbul (not the store) section of town and stopped in at Cappadocia Café, which is a casual Turkish café. The place is order at the counter or at the touchscreen kiosk and there is decorative table (artful tiles) seating towards the front of the space. They offer a selection of Turkish delights including pides, lahmacun, acma, borek, pogaca, salads, soups, and desserts (cream cake slices). They also serve Turkish coffee/espresso & tea drinks, and cooler drinks. Their breads and pides are baked in their wood-fired oven. The prices are moderate I placed an online order through Toast and ordered the Sucuk Bafra Pide ($15.99 plus tax) and Lahmacun ($7.99 plus tax). My order was all set and boxed to go in about 10 minutes, waiting at the counter near the oven. The Sucuk Bafra Pide was a closed flatbread with sucuk (fermented sausage) slices, & three cheeses on a soft dough flatbread. The Lahmacun was a Middle Eastern thin bread with minced meat/veg mix and folded over. The hot baked flatbreads were both pretty tasty. I definitely would stop in again when I have another trip through this area. read more

Went there one freezing cold morning recently. I had Menemen for breakfast, some Turkish concoction with fried eggs, veggies and a cumin+ spice profile. It was really tasty. I also had a Turkish Coffee and a regular coffee. My only complaint is the the regular coffee with tepid and not hot. The menemen was delicious, as was the Turkish Coffee. I'll be back to try some of the other items in their menu. read more

Totally delightful. Who knew the Turkish food canon has enough variety to offer a fantastic brunch menu that overlaps exactly zero with its excellent sister place next door? Everything was great, and new to me. There are a profusion of bread-based dishes, each offering a slightly different take--subtly sweet, cheesy, eggy, mushroom-ey, etc-- on their basic, chewy, flavorful house dough. A stunning case full of pastries. A big range of not only coffees (of course including espressos) but spicy hot chocolate, "golden" (turmeric!) milk, tea, etc. The space is bright, pleasant, spacious, and the service is relaxed and friendly. They are good about your many menu questions. So it's both a comfort breakfast/brunch/cafe place and an education in a great cuisine you never experienced. Anyplace would be lucky to have Cappadocia; in WRJ it's really the jackpot. read more

Both the sweet and savory baked goods are tasty. I've gone a couple of times and enjoyed various cakes and savory vegetarian breads. I haven't indulged in their drinks beyond a coffee. The space itself is nice and inviting, with a station where you can help yourself to water, cutlery, and napkins. When I go here, i view it more of a treat-type place rather than everyday cafe type experience for me. Their quality is consistently good when I go there, but I cannot go there on a regular basis both for my health (too yummy!) and my wallet (oh, if only!). Definitely worth checking it out. read more

I went here unknowing what the food was about and I am still thinking about the wild mushroom bafra pide. It was one of the best things I have eaten at a restaurant in years. It was so delicious. I can't stop thinking about it! I don't live in the area but I plan on making a trip back just to have this again. The guy taking orders at the front was extremely rude. We asked for plates and napkins to split a Pide which he rolled his eyes at and said "sure". Then I had a large mug of coffee and wanted it to go, I asked if I could get it to go and he handed me a cup. I asked if he could do it so it could be poured over the sink. He was just so incredibly impolite and hospitality gets a 0. The pide was only decent, very greasy. I also got a Golden Milk Latte, tasted like watered down milk with no flavor. I then got a normal latte and it was the worst latte I've ever had. Gave two stars for the latte art and pretty seating. read more

Meh. I was so hopeful and excited to go here. It's a lively beautiful cafe. There were two men behind the counter. One was friendly and helpful. The other one acted as though he would rather be anywhere other than there. But honestly, I don't really go out for the service. I'm there for the food. It's Middle Eastern food-why is it so completely under seasoned???? I had the lamajun, it tasted like ground beef and tomato paste baked on a pita. Absolute bland. I don't remember what drink I had(non alcoholic), but it was completely watered down and had ice cubes that were almost completely melted. Yuk. The prices are high , HOWEVER, if the food was as it should be, I would be happy to pay MORE! Good Middle Eastern food is amazing. This is not that. read more
