Credit inquiries associated with this transaction -- entries removed following dispute (Experian report)

As of March 19, 2026 (73 days after payment cleared), we have not received the vehicle title, registration, or license plates. The temporary registration expires April 4, 2026. This issue remains unresolved despite repeated written requests. We purchased a 2021 BMW 430i from Capitol Nissan-Infiniti on January 4, 2026, paying $40,500.80 in full by personal check. We clearly declined financing multiple times. After our check cleared, we thought the transaction was complete. Instead, the next day we received documents showing a loan contract. The paperwork included a Retail Installment Sales Contract with: ~6.84% APR Total payments near $48,000 Assignment to TD Bank We never applied for financing. We were never told a credit application would be submitted. Later, we discovered 14 credit inquiries tied to this transaction. Some have already been removed after dispute, and even a lender confirmed an inquiry was submitted for removal after investigation. When we asked for an explanation, the General Sales Manager stated in writing that running credit and preparing backup finance contracts is "company policy" for cash deals in case a check bounces. This was never disclosed to us. The documents themselves raise further concerns: Dealer signature sections appear incomplete or marked only with "X" Two separate REG 262 forms were executed with no explanation Both appear to lack proper dealer signatures We sent 12 written requests asking for clarification. Only one response was received, and communication was repeatedly pushed toward phone calls instead of written answers. We are still waiting for: Confirmation of when the title transfer was submitted Explanation of what authorization was used to run our credit We are willing to resolve this, but only transparently and in writing. THIS IS A TERRIBLE PLACE TO BUY A CAR. This dealership charged us $1,495 for a "lifetime" Stargard GPS tracking system, which they claimed was already installed during my purchase of a 2021 Q50 Sensory, yet somehow they never even activated the tracker. My car was stolen three weeks ago. When I called the dealership for help, they brushed me off and sent me to Stargard, saying there was nothing they could do on their end. Fine, I understood the explanation about privacy. But when I tried to set up an account on the Stargard website, my VIN came back as "not found." Confused, I called Stargard support directly. That's when I was told the truth, the dealership never activated my tracker. On their end, it showed as "pending." Outrageous, considering I paid nearly $1,500 for it. To make matters worse, I've done all my regular car maintenance with them, oil changes, realignments, and OEM parts installed over the last two years, and I was never once told that the tracker wasn't activated. Since the theft, I've called numerous times, explained the situation over and over, and every single time I'm told, "You'll get a call back." I have received zero calls back. No help, no nothing. I remember clearly being upsold on this tracker by the salesman "Tony," who smiled and promised, "Oh, if your car ever gets stolen, we can help you find it right away." All lies. This was my first time purchasing a car, and I noticed a lot of shady dealings. Even before all this, the salesperson insisted the car was a "Signature" edition. Only to find out it was actually just a Sensory trim, another flat-out lie. At the signing stage, the finance manager looked us straight in the eye and claimed the car had "no damage at all." Later, I discovered there had been repairs done to the unibody. And if that wasn't enough, I was sold a very dirty and filthy car, even though they promised it would be washed after purchase. I ended up having to take it to a third-party detailer out of my own pocket. Buyer Beware. Update: It seems they are taking things in the right direction. Infiniti refunded the money I paid for the Stargard Lifetime, and it would be unfair to leave them at a 1-star review. In good faith, I'll be updating my review to 4 stars. I appreciate that they acknowledged the issue and took responsibility by issuing the refund. I'm satisfied with the resolution and hope they continue improving in this direction. I genuinely wish them well moving forward.

We negotiated and agreed on a price and made the deal. I had a unique situation; I live in Stockton and had no way to get the car home that day. He allowed me to keep it on the lot until the next morning. Shane and his team are not stereotypical sleaze bag used car salesmen. Customer service and a welcoming atmosphere are a priority at The Car Store San Jose. They've been in business since '77 for a reason. But, in a market where cars are in high demand, supply is drastically low, and are selling for $10k+ over MSRP... thats as good as it gets. We were referred to Arkady through a friend. Hubby has a long history in retail sales, so the car buying experience has always been... eventful, as everyone knows. But now with 2 toddlers in tow, we weren't able to dedicate the months-long research, wheeling and dealing, and multiple dealership trips all over the Bay Area to get what we wanted. So we decided to give Arkady a try. We told Arkady what we wanted. SPECIFICALLY what we wanted. Down to the T. A brand new Platinum Highlander Hybrid in Pearly White. A special order color, in a very sought after trim level and combination. Arkady looked and found us a few, but we weren't ready yet. So we waited. And the aftermath of COVID was in full affect. The dreaded chip shortage. Dealer lots were empty, cars were being bought up like no other, and the market is now flooded with buyers willing to pay top dollar from a supply pool that would disappear with a sneeze. Unfortunately for us, we just couldn't afford to battle with ballers, so we waited, hoping Arkady could find us a deal. Luckily, Arkady was able to place us an order with the Toyota Factory for our specific car, in our specific trim. We waited a few weeks, putting our trust in Arkady, and we finally got the call. The vehicle had landed and was ready for us. Everything we wanted, as we had requested. Even in this market, he was able to get us below the MSRP, which is absolutely mind blowing. He promised, and delivered in spades. His cost of service is worth its weight in gold. The process was painless. He was prompt with his communication and was always straight forward. On delivery day, we met at his office and spent no more than 15 minutes doing paperwork.... to buy a car... that was tailor made to our specification.... at a deal we were more than happy with... We cannot emphasize at how valuable his services were to us, and our family thanks him greatly. Remember the kids? They didn't even have time to even THINK about throwing a tantrum before they were buckled up in the new car and we were on our way. Arkady runs a no-joke, no-frills, get-it-done business. As a 74-year-old who has purchased over 35 vehicles, I've seen every dealership trick in the book. Stephen was a breath of fresh air--patient, knowledgeable, and zero-pressure. I've been meaning to write this review for awhile now…read more 2011 Hyundai Elantra. We had issues with the car in 2021 (within the 10 year warranty). The car was shaking, so we brought it to Capitol Hyundai. They replaced some coils under warranty. Next year (outside warranty), the same issue. They said we needed a new engine ($8k). I'm no detective, but that sounds like they put a bandaid on it that lasted long enough to make sure it went past the warranty period. Why ever buy a Hyundai again if the local dealership does shady things so they don't have to honor the warranty. What's a 10 year/100,000 mile warranty worth if it's not honored. We were already in the market for a new car at the time...an Elantra Hyundai. Good price and lots of features. So they made $8k in the very short term. Lost out on $25k+ in the near term. Lost out on all future maintenance and repairs. All that money went to Toyota Sunnyvale instead. Currently, we've been looking at new vehicles to replace a 2014 Mazda, so they lost out on $40k+ and the subsequent maintenance and repairs. Yeah, we're those people who go to the dealerships for maintenance despite the high prices because of peace of mind. The only way we'd ever entertain buying Hyundai again is if they refunded us back the $8k and the money we spent on a rental car while waiting for the engine replacement to be installed.
