INSANE. PHENOMENAL. this place reminded me of the cafes/matchas back in california. the inside is small but very modern and cute. it's kind of located in a busy road but there's an indoor garage parking area right next to the cafe which is always a 10/10. the strawberry matcha was my favorite drink but the matcha einspanner was right there w it. the ube matcha def tastes more like a dessert than a drink but overall amazing i love. tbh i think austin over dallas when it comes to coffee shops read more

I've been waiting for the day where a legit and authentic Vietnamese coffee/matcha cafe to exist in Austin. Well, the day is here. I haven't made a review in so long, but this place inspired me to yelp again. It's this good. I have gone twice and gotten the double matcha, hojicha Einspanner and the Vietnamese egg coffee. Their house cream is just right, not overly sweet and the coffee has the right consistency. As advertised, their ceremonial matcha is also done correctly. As for the ambience, I love the modern, minimal and clean aesthetic they are going for. No frills or thrills. Service is stellar, despite the crazy long lines, the owners are super friendly/hospitable. I enjoyed talking with them very much and felt the genuineness. My wallet will be crying but it's all worth it! read more

A couple of friends and I went to their soft opening and we all really enjoyed our drinks. I had their cloudy coco matcha and it was light, flavorful, and not too sweet. The interior was very clean and decorated nicely. I'll definitely be back to try their ube drinks! Service was very friendly and happy to answer our questions about the drinks. read more

Best coffee in town. The Creme Brulee is the best! It's usually always packed on the weekends, but it's worth the wait.

Small shop with limited seating, easy parking garage, and very nice minimal clean aesthetic inside. I have seen people line up for this place though so I know it can get crazy busy. The menu by the counter has prices, I think the prices are fair considering their drinks are pretty and unique. They also taste really good! I got the crème brûlée signature and it was definately the right choice for me. Not too sweet, although you should be prepared since this place is Vietnamese based and the coffee can be strong for the weak caffeine people (me). read more

It is still in its soft opening. Definitely recommend going during the weekday if you can. Weekends the lines are out the door. I wish the matcha latte was bigger and not as expensive but is good quality matcha. The ube matcha seems like a popular choice but looked too sweet for me. The space inside is small and packed with college kids. read more

I was one of the people who waited on line for an absurd amount of time. When I reached the counter, I was sad to hear that most of the items have been either sold out or not available. I really wanted to try their Black Sesame Coffee. Luckily, I was still able to grab one of their last Egg Cream Coffee. The coffee is quite good, the egg cream really balances that strong coffee flavor. The owners are really friendly and patient. You can tell that they really care about the quality they deliver in their drinks because they are making it with care, precision and attention. I knew that it would taste good and it certainly lived up to the hype. The interior is very clean and cute. I love the minimal decor. There are a few tables and chairs if you wanted to sit and enjoy your drink. There's also a parking garage nearby. The wait time can be intimidating, especially during the weekend when I went. However, they recently opened and the owners are the ones making the drinks. They are expecting to grow their staff. Until then, have some patience as they work through their business. Bring a book to read (like me) so that waiting can be a pleasant experience. I look forward to trying their other drinks once the full menu is available to order! read more

So I have been on a matcha streak, and I have tried the best matcha places in LA recently (literally just had some there a few days ago) and frequently go there, so I have a good reference. I decided to give this place a try since it looked promising and there are not a lot of good matcha options (sadly) in Austin. I ordered the matcha einspanner (instead of the double matcha per the cashier's recommendation) with oat milk. We also got the Coconut coffee & Vietnamese coffee (not my order). I would give the matcha einspanner a 4/10, it is too creamy and I can barely taste the matcha. After mixing the cream in, you can tell that the matcha color is too light (see pic). I tried to ask for any fix such as more matcha but they said they can add milk (??) or charge extra for matcha. I understand matcha is expensive, but would have liked better customer service or solutions. The other drinks were alright, however they did taste a bit off and bitter, so they requested more syrup. Anyways, I don't think I would come back as it is expensive, mid, and the same pricing as LA. read more

This place is pretty close to campus maybe around a 30 minute walk or less than a 10 minute drive. During peak times aka when people aren't in class or the weekend the line is outside the door. I went once on a Thursday at 11am and there wasn't a line, but on Friday at 12pm there was a line (waited 20 min). The place itself is super minimalistic and cute. I don't recommend studying here just because they have little space for seating and tables to place your laptop. I do like how the baristas and workers are super helpful/friendly. They were happy to help provide us recommendations and explanations of different drinks. I ended up getting the matcha einspanner with vanilla syrup (has a cloud foam of some sort on top) and the double matcha the second time. My friends got the ube matcha and the Vietnamese coffee. I thought that the Matcha Einspanner was good but just didn't have enough matcha, so if you like sweet matcha I definitely recommend. The ube matcha was also sweet but I thought it complimented the matcha well. I usually don't like coffee but I enjoyed the Vietnamese coffee (it wasn't too bitter but still tasted like coffee). The second time I went I got the double matcha and it tasted so good. If you don't really like too much matcha you won't like it because it's slightly more bitter than the other options. I highly recommend this place if you want to go to a Vietnamese owned cafe near UT Campus! I wouldn't wait on the weekends though just because I don't think it's that worth it. I would recommend either waiting until the new opening hype dies down or going during the weekdays! Love this place though and would go back again! read more

Amazing coffee, smooth and flavorful, with great service and a cozy atmosphere. Loved it!

finally got to try this place! we came on a sunday at around 10:30 (not a good time at all lmao) and there was a long line already. we ended up waiting an hour. the interior is cute and minimalistic but barely any seats, so not a great place to sit and chat. the seating that is available is super cramped and is right next to the ordering line. the marscapone latte was pretty good! I did no modifications and it was actually not that sweet which I liked. the espresso was strong and good quality. I will say that it's mad expensive (~$7, extra $1 for milk alternative) but good quality. looking to try their matcha and sesame latte next! read more

They use the phins which is really great! If you're looking for good Vietnamese iced coffee. I.e. cafe sua da it's very good. They do it properly and my wife who is vietnamese agrees. Adequate ice to coffee ratio, good ice cubes and the drink doesn't get water down. That said - I haven't tried their fancier "fun" drinks that seem to have a lot of hype around. I wanted to try their base viet coffee first, because I'm of the opinion that if they can't get that right then the other drinks aren't worth it. But they did! So I'll give them a shot. One thing I find a little strange is the egg coffee is served iced? I mean I'll give it a try and update the review when I do but a little odd. I'm wondering if they offer it hot too. Eitherway what I did try was VERY good. read more

First off, the front needs to get quicker with how they take orders. I know the place is new and they're still adjusting but when the line is literally out the door, and the process is to ask everyones name spelling and using a sharpie to write down the name of the drink by hand & each persons name, it took so long. The people who make the drinks make them fast and they come out in no time so I think they really need to work on their system. It took us about 45 minutes to get our drinks around their closing time, which is a lot. The drinks are decent quality- i got their double matcha and egg coffee. The double matcha was too sweet for me which was a bit of a let down rather than having that flavorful deep matcha taste. Overall i probably wouldn't go back due to the wait. read more

Went around noon and wait for 45 minutes - super popular spot in its first week of opening. I've been waiting for a cafe like this to open up in Austin for soooo long. Small business that is cranking out the best matcha in Austin and dare I saw Texas. The double matcha is creamy with the perfect amount of bitterness. I can't wait to keep coming back to try other drinks. The reason why I'm taking one star off is because I think they forgot to put the cream top of my Hojicha einspanner haha - that's like the quintessential essence of an einspanner too. Nice nuttiness in the drink however. The vibes are very much like a New York or LA cafe. Minimal/industrial almost. Hopefully they can add some tables soon read more

cute matcha place that everyone is obsessed with right now! while yes they do have a great curated varieties of matcha and cafe specialties, i found the actual matcha not to be very caffeinated- i totally understand a lot of people like these fancy matcha drinks bc they are a sweet treat and tastes fun, but i drink matcha bc im tired and need energy and espresso is too irritating. while it was a fun experience, im not sure if i'd go JUST bc i needed matcha- Its a place you take your visiting friends while they are in town so they can go, "WOW austin is COOL!" but for an everyday day matcha head- it's a bit over the top read more

Such good ambience and vibes AND they use ceremonial grade matcha loved the selection of drinks

My only complaint is that I didn't get to try all of the fun drinks here. This place had a ton of fun and creative coffee & matcha flavors. Their Vietnamese coffee was my favorite. We ended up getting the Vietnamese egg coffee and the banana cream matcha. The Vietnamese egg coffee was immaculate with the creamy egg top. The banana matcha came with creme brûlée style matcha slices on top. The matcha was strong in flavor but still very smooth. I definitely recommend adjusting the sweetness level on your drinks if you don't like your drinks too sweet like me. The place was very cute and had lots of indoor seating. Our drinks came out fairly fast and the service was great! There was also a parking are right around the corner. read more

Coming from Houston, I saw this place advertised a lot on my instagram and I made sure that i would visit whenever I'm in the Austin area. The cafe is small, but nice and also very minimal which i love. There is a parking garage in the back which is great too. With an extensive matcha menu, CaPhein also serves other drinks for those who arent the biggest fan of matcha. I ordered a double matcha and a matcha einspanner and i had a hard time choosing which one i liked better because they were both so good! The matcha flavour was strong even with the cream which is so hard to find in cafes now a days! Service was fast and the baristas were helpful. Cant wait to come back! read more

How did I forget o write a review for my favorite coffee shop in Austin. Was here for 4 days and went here 3 times after we found it. Amazing drinks. The Saigonese was my personal favorite. I visited CaPhein coffee and had a solid experience. I ordered the mascarpone iced latte. I expected it to be super sweet but it was actually the perfect level of sweetness. I like my coffee stronger and I didn't find the drink overly sweet. It had a creamy mascarpone topping that I really liked. The texture of the topping was super creamy. There were ladyfingers on top to make it look more like a tiramisu which I thought that was a fun touch. I do think the ladyfingers tasted a little stale though. I also got a chocolate croissant that was pretty yummy. I just wish it had been warmer. My friend got the coconut matcha. They said it was pretty solid. The line to order was a little long but it moved quickly. The staff was super efficient because our drinks did not take long to come out even though the shop was pretty busy. I love how unique the different drinks are and the cute vibe of the shop. read more

New coffee shop close to campus. We were visiting Austin for a wedding and a friend wanted to check it out. The lines were fairly long and took quite awhile due to there only being one person at the register and the other making the drinks. Though the service took long, it was understandable once you got to the front of the line. They were very accommodating to every single order. Asking what kind of milk, how many pumps of what, and any add-ons. They were very catering despite the amount of people waiting. I actually wanted one of the ube drinks, but unfortunately they ran out of ube. I ended up getting the Mascarpone Latte with oat milk. It was delicious. I had one less pump of the syrup. Coffee was not too sweet and a little strong which is great for me. Vibes were nice in there, just long lines. Hopefully with the amount of lines they get, they could get some help to speed the process a bit. read more

As you know guys I like to review from the moment I park lol -This shopping center has its own parking... so super yay to that -It's very tiny but open space. The tables chairs are made for skinny people -The matcha quality is one of the best I ever had like, it's amazing. 10/10 - I had the ube coco matcha, I enjoyed since the matcha is not like sweeten, it balanced out nicely, I will say the ube was a little thicker so really couldn't be mix in with the matcha, which personally would have like it to be able to but overall still a good drink Little side note it's like $10 per drink with tax. which I feel in this economy that's becoming normal, when I first got my drink seem like it would be a lot but it's 1/3 ice so just keep that in mind because when I finally started to enjoy it it was all gone lol read more

Avoid at all costs - they put whole milk instead of oat milk and I drank about 1/2 of the small cup before I started getting cramps. I went back and they refused to replace ONE small drink because I took it out of the store. Very unusual behavior considering how much the drinks are. Cherry on top- the guy working there told me to go to the doctor if my stomach hurts. WTF? I would expect better service, you're better off going elsewhere! Update: it's pretty normal to not always recognize that an alternate milk is used. When my stomach started hurting is when I stopped drinking it, I don't appreciate being called a liar and not heard. You also watched the footage to see me go in and out and yet didn't seem to check if the right milk was used? It all seems very suspicious and I feel incredibly disrespected. I would never try to finesse to get an another drink, especially because half the drink was not consumed. You trying to justify your poor service is just sad. read more

Pronounced "kaffeen". We were calling it Cafe. First of all, the Mascarpone. This is the only coffee drink in 10 years in Austin that I've rated a perfect 10. I've had it multiple times and it doesn't disappoint. My wife gets the Einspanner with Miso Caramel. I want to try other drinks because I love hojicha, but I can't NOT get the mascarpone. Also parking is kind of not great. Still ok though. Don't let it deter you. read more

Visually, the drinks look beautiful; the flavor of the drinks were also average in comparison to other cafes. It is nice that you can try unique variations of matcha and hojicha lattes here. Additionally, if you are someone who likes it sweet, you can customize the amount of condensed milk for no charge or add their specialty syrups for no charge. The largest qualm I could have with this cafe is the price of the drinks is quite high, even with consideration for their eccentric offerings. For a coconut water with matcha foam and matcha latte with ube foam and roasted coconut flakes, the total was around $18.50 after tax and tip. TLDR/Reason for Score: - Unique flavors - Expensive - Customizable sweetness - Comparable to typical cafes Not Rated in Score: - Tables fill fast - Aesthetic and cohesive interior - Large nearby parking garage read more
