Banana matcha iced latte and iced coffee
    Perla G.

This place felt extremely overhyped for me. I asked for recommendations on their matcha and they recommended the banana latte. The presentation was beautiful but I wasn't a fan. The location has parking!! Which is a huge plus and the staff was nice

My friends and I visited Austin and wanted some good coffee. This place was recommended so we thought we'd give it a try! First impressions: The coffee shop is close to the parking garage, so that was nice! We did wait in a line that stretched outside the door, so we were expecting really good coffee/matcha Service: Service was good, they are also pretty fast at popping out the drinks. Drinks: I got the coco ube matcha and my boyfriend got the viet caramel coffee. I'm going to be honest, these drinks were a lot milkier than I expected. The flavors were decent, but would've liked it a little less milkier. Overall, it was good! However, we had to wait in line, in the heat for these drinks. I personally did not think it was worth that type of wait, but maybe I chose the wrong drinks! Definitely come try for yourself, but be ready to wait!

We ALWAYS stop here for the coffee! The coffee is amazing!! We had the Americano with the house cream, the Vietnamese coffee- super strong but worth every sip! And a Mascarpone!

We stopped by here twice when we were in Austin to get our matcha fix. You can park in the lot behind the place although it does get crowded since it's shared. The inside is small and always packed with students coming in and out. The wait isn't too bad if you have time to spare. I tried the mango cloud matcha and banana cream matcha, two of my favorite matcha combo. Mango matcha was my fave over the two. Sweetness level was not too sweet. Portion was good. Price point was decent compared to what some places nowadays are charging. It became our fave spot that we ended up bringing our entire group here before we left Austin. However, it is not ideal for a big group hangout due to the limited space.

Great coffee! Loved the pandan! Also had the Black Sesame and it was amazing! Can't wait to go back!

Vietnamese Coffee and Strawberry Matcha Latte
    Michelle Y.

This place has, without a doubt, the best matcha I've had in Austin. It is incredibly creamy. I love both their regular matcha latte and their ube version. I find that the ube can sometimes overpower the taste of matcha, so I personally prefer the regular matcha latte just a smidge more. Their Vietnamese iced coffee is solid too without all the jitteriness of other iced coffees. The lines can get pretty long as the place is usually very packed. The staff is friendly, though, and try their best to keep the line moving. This cafe isn't really a place to sit down and chat. There are a few tables, but because the space is small, I would recommend just ordering to-go.

Love love love their matcha! For sure order ahead because this place gets busy. There were at least 10 people waiting for their orders when I arrived at pickup time. They were so busy behind the counter that I waited past my pickup time to ask about my order - which was ready! So don't wait to ask about your order if you order online. The line to order was at least 10 people deep and the place was so crowded! Tried the banana matcha and the Trio matcha and loved both. For sure worth a trip!

    Strawberry matcha

I saw this place all over tik tok and it didn't disappoint! I got the strawberry matcha (only available in small) - the strawberry was a bit sweet but went well with the matcha and was about $8 after tax! It's good quality matcha! Was it the best ever? No, but it definitely satisfied my craving. My friend got the banana cream matcha and enjoyed it a lot! Free parking garage in the back!

    Banana Cream Matcha
    Christine D.

Overall, very wide variety of different matcha drink options. They use Shizuoka Kagoshima matcha. Ordered: - Banana Cream Matcha - I felt like it could use a bit more matcha and a bit more banana flavor. I don't know why I was thinking the milk was also going to contain banana or there was going to be banana syrup (soooo consumer error). Banana was only in the cream, the first sip I had I felt like a had a lot of banana but that might be because the banana was on the top of drink so my nose was overwhelmed but after I ate the banana I felt like I couldn't smell or taste the banana as much. They had a decent amount of seating inside and small tables, but it was a bit loud when we went so probably not a very good work/study coffee shop.

    Latte einspanner
    Wes Y.

Got the latte einspanner and it was really good. Super unique flavor and definitely stands out compared to normal lattes. The only thing is there is a lot of that foamy cream on top, probably a bit too much, but still tasted great overall. The place is very clean and minimal, with a smaller amount of seating but still a nice vibe to sit and hang out for a bit. Fast service too.

Amazing Vietnamese coffee spot on Austin ! They have so many different selection with strong and rich flavors. I really enjoy their egg coffee. The store concept is super cute there are seats if you would like to study here ! Service was very fast I appreciate that my drinks came out super quick

High quality matcha. I love the creative drinks. Limited seating inside, but it's cute enough that you can sit for a couple hours. The place is always packed

My favorite matcha to get in Austin. I usually get the double matcha and it's always creamy and not too sweet with a strong matcha flavor. This time I was craving a black sesame matcha (I just ordered matcha with black sesame top), the black sesame wasn't that strong but it was still delicious! Almost every drink has a pretty topper and makes it perfect for pictures. The workers are always on top of it, never takes a long time even when there's a long line. My group had around 10 drinks and we all got ours fairly quick.

And did I mention their handmade desserts? Lots of choices. I decided on a Pistachio Latte and a slice of Pistachio cheesecake to compliment it. It was stupendous. Open later than most coffee shops, especially in this deserted part of town. Varied drink menu, both caffeinated and not caffeinated, including refreshers. Nice creative variety of desserts (including a Biscoff cake!) and a kolaches case. At one point the brought some hot baked dessert (looked like a whole coffee cake) out the oven and it smelled like heaven. The bad: Nothing vegan or healthy, not even pre-made cold sandwiches or packaged salads. If you are a little peckish for a healthy snack, this is not the place. The coffees: They have all the regular espresso drinks, and also Turkish coffee and of course Yemeni, their specialty. I had heard great things about Yemeni coffee and was exciting to try it. My first drink, a traditional coffee drink called Jubani ($6) contained coffee but was watery like a tea. It had also ginger and cinnamon. I was not expecting it to be like a tea. I immediately told the cashier I didn't like the drink and would like just an Americano, double shot espresso. I was charged $9 for a 12 oz cup. No cream or sugar, no added flavorings. If I were in charge I wouldn't have charged for this second drink, since it comes at almost zero cost to them and would show good faith and ensure repeat business. Disappointingly, the Americano was also watery and sort of "lemony", but I still drank half while sitting with my friend. I'll say that my friend had some sort of an iced latte that she enjoyed. I might try a second visit and order a Turkish coffee, but I will make sure to have had a full meal before.

While exploring the many museums across the University of Texas campus, a quick caffeine break was needed for my girlfriend and we were overwhelmed by the number of options on The Drag. It makes sense that there are plenty of places to choose from because of the large number of UT students. Everyone needs a little coffee in their lives. One of the highest reviewed ones with a large pool of ratings was Lucky Lab Coffee and after checking a few quick reviews, we decided to give it a chance. Lucky Lab has five locations in Austin (four on campus) and one location in Dripping Springs. The one we were at off The Drag was their flagship. This location serves a little bit of everything from sandwiches to pastries, salad to quiche, and of course, coffee. As we walked inside the flagship, it is easy to notice how tight the space is. There is very little seating inside at their bar, but they make up for it with plenty of shaded outdoor space that is perfect for a nice day. Scanning their menu, we landed on some drinks from their winter menu. I was intrigued by their Pomegranate Rosemary Latte while my girlfriend tried their Ginger Spice Mocha. We got them both iced. First, it is interesting to see the fusion of pomegranate and rosemary in a latte. I was intrigued by those flavors. Their drink sizes are 12 oz, 16 oz, and 20 oz, each adding an additional 50 cents to each upgrade. All milk alternatives cost 1 dollar. It was only a short wait to get our coffees and the cup with the little lab on it was cute. I think specialty drinks have an opportunity to be amazing and one of a kind or the worst drink imaginable. This pomegranate rosemary latte did not fall into either category exactly, but leaned more toward the latter. I love pomegranates and I always appreciate how earthy rosemary can be in a coffee. One of my favorite lattes I have ever had has rosemary in it. This was just not working for me. I shamefully did not finish my coffee. As for my girlfriend, she did not like her ginger spice mocha. I could not imagine gingerbread syrup not working in a mocha, but after trying it myself it was not for me either. It seems like a perfect match, but here the gingerbread is competing with the chocolate and instead of complementing each other they clash. She told me that the flavors were "un-mocha like". She drank less than half of her coffee before tossing it as well. Neither of us wanted to dislike Lucky Lab. They seem well established and I felt like they were trustworthy based on reviews, but I wonder what these previous reviewers were tweaking on or what magical concoction of coffee granted from heaven above they were sipping on because we were distraught by how disappointing these drinks were. I would like to give Lucky Lab Coffee Co the benefit of the doubt and say that maybe the specialty drinks were not up to par with their traditional beverages. However, the almost 30 different syrup options on their wall make me feel they lack a little focus and try too hard to stand out. They lose what makes a coffee good, which is coffee. I want to say I will give them a second shot in the future to see if it was just an off day or a bad beverage pick. Too many shots turns a Lucky Lab into Old Yeller. The lab needs to be put on a leash before I think about returning. RIYL: options

I usually only go to coffee shops to work, but today, went on a coffee date with my dog instead. There's ground floor parking in the garage that's complimentary for two hours. I kept it simple with a vanilla latte. I noticed they had tacos at the bottom of the food menu, but at $13.25 for two tacos + an a la carte item, I decided to pass. Maybe my expectations were too high (as usual) because it's inside a hotel, but I was hoping for the kind of warm hospitality hotels are known for, but instead, the service felt a bit cold. It didn't exactly make me want to spend more money there. While sitting on the patio, I spotted the food truck outside and thought, "PERFECT. A food truck HAS to be cheaper. Take that Simona's!" I walked up to the window... only to find out it wasn't actually a separate food truck. It was just the pickup window. To order? I had to go back inside to Simona's and place my order with the delightful staff... I ended up ordering two Blue Migas tacos, and honestly, they were just... good, but nothing memorable. They tasted like your average breakfast tacos that you can find all over Austin for less. Despite loving how relaxing the outdoor patio is with its lucious greenery surrounding you and the beautiful French chairs and cafe tables, it's located right next to the hotel pool. If you're visiting on a summer afternoon, expect some extra noise with pool guests. If you're looking for a quiet coffee or a place to work, I'd recommend coming early in the morning instead.
