We stopped by here twice when we were in Austin to get our matcha fix. You can park in the lot behind the place although it does get crowded since it's shared. The inside is small and always packed with students coming in and out. The wait isn't too bad if you have time to spare. I tried the mango cloud matcha and banana cream matcha, two of my favorite matcha combo. Mango matcha was my fave over the two. Sweetness level was not too sweet. Portion was good. Price point was decent compared to what some places nowadays are charging. It became our fave spot that we ended up bringing our entire group here before we left Austin. However, it is not ideal for a big group hangout due to the limited space.

They were so busy behind the counter that I waited past my pickup time to ask about my order - which was ready! So don't wait to ask about your order if you order online. The line to order was at least 10 people deep and the place was so crowded! Tried the banana matcha and the Trio matcha and loved both. For sure worth a trip!
Overall, very wide variety of different matcha drink options. They use Shizuoka Kagoshima matcha. Ordered: - Banana Cream Matcha - I felt like it could use a bit more matcha and a bit more banana flavor. I don't know why I was thinking the milk was also going to contain banana or there was going to be banana syrup (soooo consumer error). Banana was only in the cream, the first sip I had I felt like a had a lot of banana but that might be because the banana was on the top of drink so my nose was overwhelmed but after I ate the banana I felt like I couldn't smell or taste the banana as much. They had a decent amount of seating inside and small tables, but it was a bit loud when we went so probably not a very good work/study coffee shop.

The only thing is there is a lot of that foamy cream on top, probably a bit too much, but still tasted great overall. The place is very clean and minimal, with a smaller amount of seating but still a nice vibe to sit and hang out for a bit. Fast service too.
Matchas were both very good. Ube coco was better than the other one we tried. The only thing I would recommend would be asking for extra sweetener bc their regular sweetness was not very sweet. They were very accommodating and gave us both some extra syrup and condensed milk when we asked, the little coco crisps on the top were a nice addition. They also allowed dogs inside which was a plus! Fast service and also one of the few places in Austin that has free parking so you can get there without having to drop 20 bucks on that alone. I would recommend! Place was also very clean and organized !

It's a small, hip shop that does get pretty busy and packed (seems like a hotspot for UT students!), but everything is made efficiently and with great care. The cup sizes are pretty large, and some drinks can be adjusted for sweetness. There is plenty of parking in the garage behind the shop.

It's actually pretty easy to spot this place once you're in the area. There's always a line formed outside the entrance! The line actually works its way through pretty fast. Most of the restaurant real estate is not used for sitting though, it's mostly people waiting around. Even with full house staff, it seems like they are always behind just because of the sheer volume of people coming through. So there's nothing really special about the interior. The last time we went, there were maybe 3 skinny tables? The reason I gave it a 3 is because of the prices of these pretty drinks. It's not coffee. It's just a drop of coffee with syrup and sugar, and customers are asked to spend $7 plus tip... If you actually want coffee, there are plenty of other options with places to sit down and have a great conversation with a friend or some alone time. But if you're willing to spend on a drink equivalent to a chipotle bowl and snap a picture and post it on Instagram , this is your spot

This place has, without a doubt, the best matcha I've had in Austin. It is incredibly creamy. I love both their regular matcha latte and their ube version. I find that the ube can sometimes overpower the taste of matcha, so I personally prefer the regular matcha latte just a smidge more. Their Vietnamese iced coffee is solid too without all the jitteriness of other iced coffees. The lines can get pretty long as the place is usually very packed. The staff is friendly, though, and try their best to keep the line moving. This cafe isn't really a place to sit down and chat. There are a few tables, but because the space is small, I would recommend just ordering to-go. read more

Kudos to Austin for expanding on their Asian coffee shops. Pretty standard no frills coffee shop that has all the classic options. This is the best matcha/coffee spot in Austin, I have been here many times and still not even close to finish their items on the menu. Tried their seasonal toasted marshmallow white chocolate matcha and toasted marshmallows mocha this time. For all your Asian taste bud, 25% white chocolate sauce gives you perfect balance of not too sweet matcha latte combine with toasted marshmallow. Whenever I am in Austin this is one of my go to coffee/matcha shop. The store itself is kinda small but offer different seating areas. The decor is minimal but perfect to add to the atmosphere. This time around we got their seasonal brown butter cookies matcha latte and the trio tea latte. The brown butter cookies matcha was slightly sweet and had the perfect amount of cookie butter flavor without overpowering the flavor of the matcha. The trio tea latte was a combination of matcha, jasmine, and earl grey tea with a salted cream top. Although it sounds like it would be too much I thought it was perfect and wasn't too sweet. I love that the workers are kind and patience with me while I was trying to decide what I wanted. This is a must try place if you are in Austin! read more

Caphe in Coffee is hands down one of the best spots for both coffee and matcha! Everything we tried was amazing--from the rich, creamy coffee to the perfectly balanced matcha drinks. The flavors are unique but still super smooth and easy to enjoy. You can really tell they care about quality--the drinks are beautifully layered and taste just as good as they look. Tried Caphein Coffee and got the matcha einspanner and the pho latte. The matcha was amazing and super creamy and honestly one of the better ones I've had! The pho latte was good, but it definitely did not taste like pho. It leaned way more cinnamon, so they really should've advertised it as a cinnamon latte instead because it was kind of misleading. Overall, still a good spot and worth checking out, but don't go in expecting actual pho flavor in that drink lol read more

Here to update my review: so I have decided to give CaPhein more than one visit, but starting to grow skeptical of their food safety and thought it would be worthwhile to express my concerns here. I tried Caphein when they first opened and as I mentioned prior I noticed inconsistency in service. I came back again another time and was well pleased with their matcha choices. I enjoyed it so I tried to give the coffees another chance. I got the egg coffee, but it made me extremely sick. Fast forward to a recent experience and CaPhein has once again made me sick. The friend I went with and others I have spoken to have also mentioned feelings of nausea and food poisoning systems, especially post egg coffee. Is it just us? Do I have an oddly skewed sample size? At first I thought it was an unfortunate event of probability, but after speaking with others, I am concerned and will not be ordering again. I also think it would be in the owners best interest to look into this situation. I think some of their drink options are good, such as the matcha choices. That said, unless you really have no other options-I don't think I can confidently recommend CaPhein to a friend with two bad experiences, and I will no longer be coming here. Dam coffee bar also serves Vietnamese coffee and so does sip pho. read more

Rating: 4.2/5 This was the second time we've been here, and the drinks were way better than the first time. The line isn't crazy anymore so you actually get your drink in a decent amount of time. The only downside is the price, especially once you start adding extras or substitutions. They do have a lot of specials and seasonal drinks though, which is nice. Summer Mint Fruit Tea ($7) + Crystal Boba ($1): Their default sugar level is 25%, which threw me off. My husband bumped his up to 100%, and it was definitely on the sweeter side, so I'll probably stick with 75% next time. The drink itself was really good and super refreshing on a hot day. Iced 16oz Ube Coco Coffee ($7) + Oat Milk ($0.75): I kept the standard amount (1.5 oz) of condensed milk, and I'd recommend doing the same. The drink was delicious, and I can see why it's one of their top 10. The coffee was strong but not too bold, and the ube foam was amazing. Just make sure to mix it in before drinking. The sweetness level was perfect. read more

TL;DR: I keep recommending this place, and I keep coming back here! Drinks: I have been here so many times and unfortunately do not have photos of every drink that I have had. I have had the mascarpone latte, strawberry matcha, ube matcha, banana cream matcha though. The mascarpone latte is my favorite drink because of the ladyfinger ears they put into the drink, so it looks like a little mouse. I like all of the matchas I have had here so far -- the matcha has a really nice and vibrant green. They are definitely on the sweeter side, but I love the variety of flavors offered and how tasty they all are. Ambiance: It is pretty cramped in here since there is usually a long line of people waiting and not a lot of spots to sit. When the line dies down though, it is a nice spot to yap for a few hours if you don't mind sitting on really short stools. I like how clean the restroom in the back is. There is also a full length mirror at the entrance that you can use to take Instagram photos. read more

One of the best matcha shops in Austin! The mango puree is refreshing and sweet. It balances the matcha perfectly! The line can get pretty long so plan ahead! Not a ton of room to study or hang out at the matcha shop, so I usually take it to go. The staff is super friendly and helpful! Saw CàPhê.in on social media months ago and made an effort to go here during a quick Austin trip. Liked it so much we went 2 days in a row LOL. Chic place with limited seating. Saturday was packed but luckily the line moved smoothly and the drinks took some time to get prepped. - Double matcha was amazing! - Mascarpone latte: sweetness was just right, great coffee flavor Also tried a sip of other drinks. - Coco ube coffee: just ok, not crazy about this one - Hojicha einspanner: enjoyed - Matcha einspanner: delicious - Banana cream matcha: can't taste the matcha once the banana cream mixes in but it was good I'll be back for more drinks when I'm in Austin again! read more
Tried Caphein while I was in Austin for work and it was so good I had to go back the next day. The banana cream matcha was perfect. The torched sugar on the banana gave it a nice crisp, and the matcha wasn't watery like most places. It's hard nowadays to find matcha made right like CaPhein does. Just the right amount of sweetness and not too much milk. The iced hojicha latte was perfectly fragrant and not too milky. The workers were quick and friendly, and everyone was in and out. The interior is pretty industrial with limited seating, so I can see it being hard to find a spot when it's busy. There's plenty of parking in the building garage though, which is super convenient. I've been here three times so far. Parking: there is a parking lot!!! Hallelujah! It however can get full on the weekends. I managed to find street parking on a weekend, but then I walked up to the door and it was PACKED, so I just turned around. My tip for myself is to go on the weekdays, as it's only a mini-detour on my way to work. I say mini-detour, but it's probably adds a good 20 mins extra to my commute. Which leads to me: hell yeah, so worth it! The drinks are delicious. So far I've had the Vietnamese egg coffee, peachy matcha (current seasonal offering) and banana cream matcha. That's in order of how much I liked each one from most to least. The Vietnamese egg coffee: don't get weird about the egg, it doesn't taste eggy. It adds this insanely delicious rich creaminess to the drink. It is SO FREAKING GOOD you just have to try it, trust me. It's sweet and decadent, but then pairs so well with the coffee. Peachy matcha: I love that their matcha is really just barely sweetened. The peach is so so peachy. Like, perfectly ripe fruit exactly how you'd want it to taste, and they don't skimp on the amount. Banana cream: I was actually hoping for more from this drink. The brûléed bananas look cool but they don't really add to the drink itself. The banana cream was very mild and I didn't taste it too much. Can't wait to come back and try more. read more

I've seen so much about Caphe.in on social media, and it definitely lives up to the hype. I'm not from Austin, so when I was in town, my friend and I made sure to stop by. The space is small with limited seating, so it fills up pretty quickly, but it's worth it. Parking isn't the best, but the drinks make up for it. I was debating between the Matcha Einspanner and the Banana Cream Matcha, and the barista recommended the banana one and it was amazing. We also got the Mascarpone because we had to try both matcha and coffee, and they were both really good. It was creamy, smooth, not overly sweet which I loved, and the presentation was beautiful as well. The price is around $8, which is a little pricey but pretty standard for specialty drinks these days. It's definitely worth it for the quality and the experience. read more

Was super excited for this place. I went at noon on a sunday but the line was wayyy too long. I went back that same day at around 4 and the line was still long. It took about 20 minutes though so not too bad. Tip! Order online for pick up if you are short on time. There's a free garage parking so that's a huge plus. I got the hojicha einspanner with brown sugar syrup 2 pumps and the matcha latte with vanilla syrup 2 pumps. The matcha was a HARD miss for me. The cashier was so nice and did say that if we had any issues we could come back and they would fix it so that's on me. But the milk used in the matcha tasted spoiled. We had already walked out to the car by that point so at first I just thought it was an acquired taste but to me it definitely tasted off. Hojicha Einspanner was decent. The coffee is so delicious!! I'm a coffee loverrrr ~ I typically take 3-5 shots of espresso in a latte. Viet coffee is typically stronger in flavor and CaPhein didn't disappoint! The barista lmk I could do another portion of their drip coffee but she felt like it was strong enough. The caramel and coffee flavors were both great ~ I should've personally gotten the extra drip tho lol Waited about 20 min total from standing outside to receiving my drink on a long weekend Sunday afternoon I wouldn't go to the cafe for the ambiance ~ the sound architecture is minimal so it gets a bit noisy and it's giving industrial with little to no seating.
