Cute restaurant next to the river. Good view and ambience. Great service. Loved the kangaroo app we got. Was tender and delicious, not gamey at all. Oysters were good as well. Steak was ok.

Once again, such a great restaurant! From the ambiance to the service, I have always had a great experience. We ordered the charcuterie board and kangaroo as an appetizer, surprisingly all the kids tried the kangaroo and loved it! My beet salad was a larger portion than I was expecting, but it was pairs well with the goat cheese. I chose the salmon for my entree and everything about it was delicious. There's a level of freshness that comes through clear when eating the dishes at Canoe. Will definitely be back whenever I'm in Atlanta.

Canoe is a fantastic place for a date night. It has an old-school fine dining feel right when you walk in. Hospitality is top notch and service is impeccable. There is something about when servers work as a team, and it was clear that's how they operate. Drinks were pretty great the kangaroo was my favorite thing we ate. The sauce is delicious and its tender - I didnt think it was gamey at all. I also thought the rabbit was delicious. The risotto dish was not my favorite. It was still hard and not very creamy. That's the only reason I took a star. I would definitely come back for a special occasion

A good friend of mine and I frequent canoe for our bimonthly lunch meet ups. She is a regular here so they always have a table reserved for her whenever she calls. The service is always immaculate. The entire staff greets you as you're being escorted to your table and are all so pleasant. The next time I'm there I'm going to purpose to take a picture of the Chattahoochee river that's right outside the restaurant - it's so picturesque and really sets the scene/ambiance. Very romantic views and just an overall great experience.

Eating at Canoe is a routine part of my husband and I coming back home. We love this restaurant, the ambiance, and the welcome. We came in for dinner Saturday night on our way home to Ellijay and loved getting to see Amanda the manager. She is always attentive and such a joy. Service was a bit less memorable than it normally is but my husband and I still enjoyed ourselves. We shared the Baby Arugula & Parmesan Salad, Marinated Golden & Red Beet Salad, Peppercorn Crusted Kangaroo Loin, Georgia White Shrimp, Octopus & Patagonian Scallop Tart, and the Slow Braised Blue Ridge Rabbit. The salads were tasty, a smidge too dressed but still delicious. The peppercorn Crusted kangaroo was cooked perfectly. The tart was pretty darn fishy tasting which made it unpalatable to us. The rabbit stole the show and was cooked perfectly in beautiful pillowy ravioli. Yum!!! We will definitely be back and can't wait to see what new creations the chef comes up with!! Parking is valet right outside the restaurant.

Sitting outside on their covered patio overlooking the river is the prime reason to dine here. Inside dining is a step back in time, dark and lots of wood. Service was above average, attentive and friendly. We dined during Sunday brunch on a beautiful day. Valet parking is the only option. Cocktails were good, prices fair. Started with the breakfast pastry basket. Nice assortment of muffins, scones, cinnamon rolls. Maybe because I bake, the items were not as tasty as anticipated. Pass on those ... House smoked salmon appetizer was the winner for me . Tasty, fresh, good portion. My friend ordered it and I ordered the arugula salad so we shared both. Hubby's Cesar salad was drowned in too much dressing. No anchovy flavor. Crispy shrimp for my entree was good, again too much dressing on the slaw. It seems that a garde manger chef revamp is needed. Roasted chicken was dry, it was the breast so not very tasty. So, go for cocktails and appetizers while enjoying an outdoor view. Driving around the surrounding was beautiful!

I got the kangaroo appetizer and rabbit entree. Both were different from the traditional southern food scene and very decadent. The chocolate-cherry tea sauce that came with the kangaroo was superb. I got bread to dip after finishing the kangaroo. The rabbit was delicious and not gamey at all. The bartender outside was very knowledgeable and provided excellent recommendations. The patio and riverside bar area was pretty epic . Great vied and perfect for happy hour or special occasions.

I've never had kangaroo before, but this is the place you can get it if you're interested in trying. The service was amazing and the ambience gave high Class fancy dinner vibes. Get yourself a really good drink too because they're delicious.

First time at Canoe and we sat outside with a nice view of the Chattahoochee River on a nice Saturday evening. It was quiet outside and much noisier inside with all hard surfaces and a busy dining area. The Canoe Manhattan was definitely spirit forward (packs a punch) and the Tom Riddle a nice change of pace both of which I'd get again. The "Canoe's Cold Smoked Salmon, Crispy Potato Cake, Creamy Goat's Cheese, Caper-Dill Cream" was listed as an appetizer, but we made an entree out of it. Apparently, a signature dish that was really good with textures and flavors that hit the mark. I had the Cod; it was . . . . Cod, nothing to write home about but it was fine. Whatever you do don't miss the Popcorn Ice Cream Sundae . . . to DIE for! Would definitely return but may be more inclined to sit out at the outside bar along the river with the beet salad, smoked salmon, and that to die for popcorn ice cream sundae! Overall excellent service, good food, and great atmosphere.

Heard about the place for dinner, but tried for Sunday brunch. They have valet parking and when you walk in, you're greeted and shown to your table. Chris, was our waiter and because it was my first time, he gave us a little moment of history and reviewed their menu items. The brunch menu was quite smaller than what i expected and there wasn't much room choose from (starter; appetizers; entree, dessert). We ordered the smoked salmon appetizer which was good, but heavy on the cream cheese. Was told about the rainbow trout which was not on the menu but it was ordered. It was good, but wish the grits were more on a creamier side. I also ordered an espresso martini with baileys. They have a patio area that I would like to try and I like how the waiter was attentive. It was a little packed when we arrived so it was a little noisy but it all simmered down as time went on. I will definitely be back; for dinner though.

Outstanding, our table ordered Duck, Rabbit, and Salmon. Everyone enjoyed their dishes. Bar drinks were enjoyed and the river view added to the experience. Table service was attentive.

Canoe is so beautiful and fancy. My boyfriend took me for my birthday and we had an amazing time. Our server was very attentive and she even remembered my boyfriend's name from the reservation which I thought was sweet. The food was good, portions are fairly small (we expected it). They have 3 kinds of bread and it was fresh and tasty. The bathroom was super clean too.

Can I wear heels if I want to walk around the garden? Is there a path that I don't have to walk on grass/dirt? Thanks for any info!

I'm not sure if you can wear heels because while there are paths, they aren't paved. Instead, they're filled with rocks, like gravel.

    How do I make reservations?

I use Open Table to make my reservations. If you click on reserve a table on their web site it will take you to Open Table.

Do they have a kids menu?

They have several options for children, you just have to ask! We take our daughter 2-3 times a month and she loves it just as much as we do =)

    Can you wear jeans?

Yes you can. I know that they allow long, and non-torn jeans for sure.

Is any of the meat served halal?

Is it worth going during winter months when outdoor seating is too cold? There a table we still can view the river from inside?

Yes, they have heaters. I still wore a winter coat and a hat.

How far in advance do I need to make a Sunday dinner reservation?

Weeks. I just tried to make a reservation ANY day for dinner anytime from 5pm on and nothing available for over 2 weeks and then only on a weekday.

Is this place solo dining friendly?

They have bar and high top seating available. But they'll also seat you "table for one" in the general dining area.

Do they have a happy hour?

If you mean specially priced items - no, they do not. But they do have a nice bar and it's first come, first served.

Do they still serve the duck and beef burger for lunch or just dinner?

Yes. Their menu changes seasonally but it's one of the permanent features. Enjoy!

Is it worth to go here after sunset?

Absolutely! The garden is lit. It's so nice!!

Is there anything vegan friendly on the menu?

My daughter is vegan and used to work there. They will make as much as they can from the menu vegan or they will make you a dish from the kitchen. They are great. You will not be disappointed. You will not get just another salad

How long is the Saturday night wait typically? Are reservations recommended?

I would definitely make a reservation. I think the only way you can get away without one is if you go when they open.

Do they only serve brunch on Sunday?

The serve Brunch and a la carte. Georgia recently changed the Sunday alcohol law so you can drink also!!

Can you provide details on the happy hour? Times? Days? Details on specials? Thank you!

They stay around the River . Hours normally between 5-8.

We had to make a decision quickly when we were pivoting, and when we came across the great reviews and photos of the food. we didn't think twice about checking to see if we could make it happen. When we arrived, the staff was already preparing our table, so we only had to wait a few minutes before being seated. The space is pretty tight, and you're going to be close to the tables near you, but we were able to sit comfortably. Our server came over quickly to take our drink orders, and afterward she came back to answer any questions. Most of the food was ready at the same time. We appreciated that it came out as it was ready and wasn't left sitting. And everyone enjoyed the food! The only "complaint" one of my friends had was that she thought there was a little too much sauce in her shrimp and grits dish. She felt that the sauce, while it tasted great, overpowered the dish and she would've liked to taste more of the grits flavor. All in all, I'd say we'll likely be back to try something else on the menu.

Title: Flavor Explosion, Soulful Hospitality & a Last-Minute Meal That Turned Magical…read more Let me just say this: what started as a "quick bite before closing" turned into one of the most memorable dining experiences I've had in a long time. We arrived at The Poach Social about 20 minutes before closing, unsure if we'd be rushed--but instead, we were welcomed with warmth and ease. Lived the ambiance. Hunter, our server, was incredibly sweet, attentive, and knowledgeable. She made us feel taken care of from the very start. Then came Victor, the owner and chef--and this is where things shifted from good to special. Without us even asking, he recommended a mocktail that felt like it was made just for me: a sorrel-based drink layered with ginger, spice, herbs, and fresh fruit. It was refreshing, balanced, and honestly one of the best non-alcoholic drinks I've had. We started with the jerk egg rolls... and I'm not exaggerating when I say we were clapping after the first bite. Crispy, juicy, flavorful, with a sweet-spicy sauce that just worked. We immediately knew we'd be taking more to go. For the main course, we ordered the Poach Social breakfast plate and the blackened salmon with polenta. The breakfast plate was comforting and well-executed, but the salmon dish? Absolutely unforgettable. Perfectly seasoned, melt-in-your-mouth texture, with creamy polenta and a rich sauce that brought everything together. It was a full-on flavor experience. The timing of everything--from drinks to apps to entrées--was seamless. Hunter checked in at the perfect moments, never too much, never too little. We ended up in a lovely conversation with Victor, who is not only talented but genuinely kind and passionate. He brought us complimentary slices of carrot cake, and even though we were already full... we ate every bite. No regrets. It was phenomenal. What I loved most is that this place doesn't just serve food--it creates an experience. There's intention, care, and heart behind everything. If you're in Atlanta, do yourself a favor and go. This place deserves to thrive. We will absolutely be back.
