Bought the tiramisu and Carmel truffle. $4 a pop. Russell Stover's does a better job. I should go back and ask for my money back. This isn't a truffle it's a gross piece of chocolate that I spent $18 on. Beware read more

CandyLand - Probably the worst ruffle I have ever had. $4 per truffle was the worst money I have every spent. Gross . Do not buy from here - Candy Stores Near Me - Monterey, California

Candy, Candy and more Candy! What attracted us to stop in were the many barrels of different favored taffy. There are so many to choose from - orange creme, strawberry cheesecake, rootbeer, cupcake, etc.. Besides taffy, there are classic candy choices as well as fresh fudge. Yum. The shop is a little overwhelming with every inch of space filled with something made of sugar. It would definitely be hard to walk around if the store was extremely busy. Service could be majorly improved. She wasn't very friendly or polite. I enjoyed the taffy choices we bought. They were delicious and tasty. Oh yeah.. I bought some fudge too. The cookies and cream fudge is as good as it sounds. Since it is in a high traffic tourist spot, the prices are a bit outrageous but nothing I haven't seen before. I would stop back for more taffy for sure! read more

Absolutely incredible choices for candy. We got some of the gummy's and chocolate covered peanuts. Excellent stuff. For those so concerned about getting a cold, maybe don't go out if the workers aren't wearing a mask...they aren't required to by law, so stop with your fear. read more

It's a great place to look around. Barrels of candy everywhere, but not as big as other places I have been to. Very overpriced and not many workers to help you with anything. Definitely a tourist trap, but a good place to look around while waiting for a table at Bubba Gump's. read more

There was an unbelievable amount of colors in this shoppe. it was more of a tourist joint then anything else, but it was right across from the garlic lovers shoppe, and the bright vibrate colors just whisked me away to veer left instead of right. the barrels of candy they had in there was very old fashioned, and fitted the seaside perfectly. i was happy to pick up a few flavors of POP rocks, as my area usually only has strawberry or apple. i never tried chocolate flavor until that day when i stepped into that store. read more

This place is HORRIBLE. I understand that you are located in a high traffic tourist spot, however that does not give you the right to rip off your customers. We spend a little over $18.00 for our candy, when I got home I weighed the bags and we had less than 2 lbs of candy. My daughters piddly bag cost us over $8.00. With the amount of money you are ripping off from your customers, you would think you could pay your employees more. They are hell rude, and seriously look irritated when you ask them anything. We love coming to Monterey and come often, however we will NEVER come back to your shop again. read more

Can you say CAVITIES?! There is a large selection of sweets and they sell ice cream and other goodies. My biggest gripe is the price. Be prepared to spend some serious cash money! It's very overpriced. Staff could be happier to see kids too being that they are the ones keeping this place in business. A simple greeting goes a long way... read more

I would give this place a zero star if it was possible everything was horrible even the customer service.so i was out in Monterey a couple weeks a ago and decided to take the family to get some candy ended up spending like 40$ the candy was stale my fiance had a pecan delight had one bite and throw it away the girl working was not helpful at all and act like we weren't there just standing there for hella long waiting to be checked out...ok so this is the part that had me vivid i went back in the store ask the girl for a napkin she said for what i was like what do you mean for what then she started to say napkins are for people who buy ice cream and i had to remind her that i just got dip and dots crazy not to mention i just spent 40$ and i cant get a damn napkin i will never go to that place ever again trust me save your money and go somewhere else you will be much happier this place sucks read more

The salt water taffy was so soft, sticking to the wrapper, inedible. This candy was expensive! To pay that price for terrible candy was very disappointing. read more

Rip off. They over charged us, which i didnt catch until looking at our receipt closer. Store is FULLY packed with xandy and quite a lot of items are overpriced. Go to a different candy store. There's a lot on cannery row. read more

Did someone say candy? Sold! I was in town to visit the aquarium today, and my S.O., brother-in-law, and I thought it would be fun to walk around the Cannery area. When I saw the sign for CandyLand, I knew I had to go in. They had all of my favorite Jelly Belly flavors: Toasted Marshmallow, Sizzling Cinnamon, and Watermelon, and they were all fresh. No stale jelly beans as I've gotten in the past from other places. Also a favorite? Chocolate-covered cookie dough. I know it may sound gross, but it's good. They also had other candy that I hadn't seen in awhile, including Zots, a Sugar Daddy as big as a small dog, and various other childhood favorites. They also had a LOT of flavors of salt water taffy. Having grown up on the East Coast, taffy has always been a staple and a reminder of vacations on the Cape or trips to the beaches in New Hampshire and Maine. No visit there was ever complete without at least a box as a souvenir. My S.O. decided to pick various flavors from the bins and took requests from me: I went for the more standard flavors since that's what I remember from childhood: watermelon, vanilla, peanut butter. He got a crazy assortment of flavors like margarita and pomegranate. It seemed a little pricey, but I think I got a lot of candy for the money, so maybe it wasn't that bad. If I'm ever in Monterey Bay again, you will find me at CandyLand. Look in the back near the chocolate-covered cookie dough. read more

Not sure how long this has been here but apparently quite some time... I have walked by here hundreds of times and never noticed it until the other day. I stopped in after a hitting up Chase bank a few hundred feet away and picked up a little bag of bulk candy and chocolate covered marshmallow. I would have gotten the chocolate covered jalapeno but 1.) wasn't sure when it was made and didn't want to bite into a soft jalapeno and 2.) I just came back from a week in Mexico and wanted to give my stomach a break. $7 for my sweet snacks, expensive but it was expected. read more

I love going here for the taffy. My FAVORITE is strange but insanely good! Maple Bacon Taffy! Yea. hahaha this place is very pricey tho. But you have to take in it is a tourist attraction. I dont know why there is about 3-4 stores in the area of less than a mile of each other... and they all have the same exact thing. One worker didnt seem too happy about being there(Here is a hint for the workers YOU ARE GETTING PAID, maybe smile a little? Just saying). And the payment method is kinda eh. Apparently the Card Minimum is $5.00. So be prepared with cash if you want to get 1 thing less than $5.(There should be a sign telling you that so you dont look like you dont know what you are doing). read more

Holy crap! It's like Hello Kitty meets Willy Wonka. Bright, shiny, unnatural edible fluorescence. The place stood out like a bonfire in a bathroom. It was impossible to miss despite the fact that I was looking in other direction. Went in, took photos of diabetes-land, and had a fun photo op with one the wooden guns. Man behind the counter seemed very irritated that potential customers were having a nice time. I was actually thinking about buying a couple of little things to take back home for my students, but after hearing a very loud sigh from the employee then seeing the clearly contemptible look on his face, I decided, "F you." I guess they expect their customers to come in, get harassed, not get any customer service, and decide to spend money anyway. WRONG. Thank goodness for tourists, eh? Otherwise, you'd be out of business. read more

I never thought I could spend nearly $30 on TAFFY. I was instantly mesmerized by all the barrels of taffy in sight when I walked in and immediately started filling up the bucket with a little of almost every flavor they had. I was surprised that there was even a pomegranate flavor (hmm, what's next, acai berry?) Aside from taffy, there are a ton of classic candy favorites and homemade fudge, so there's something for everyone but since I was in Monterey, salt water taffy it is! Hits: Coconut taffy, (not so much coconutty but it reminds me of the taffy in Abba Zabba (minus the peanut butter)) and the mint-licorice caramels. Aside from looking super cool (it's a glossy black and white swirly cube), it's delish as hell. Misses: blueberry. Not so much a fan of the -berry flavors. read more

I was a bit irritated with this place, I wanted to purchase some packaged candy and they advised me I had to purchase a minimum of 1/4 pound. It wasn't like I was buying jelly beans where you put them in a bag, these pieces were wrapped and they were not the only thing I was buying; it wasn't like I was just going to spend a dollar worth of candy. I was spending like $10 and they wouldn't let me buy a couple pre-packaged candy, really??? Should have just left, but didn't want to disappoint my kid. read more

Not too impressed with this store. Candy was very expensive for the product I bought. Most of the candy was stale and the store was messy.

Does candy have an expiration date? The fudge and taffy tastes old. Go to Sees candy instead.

We were the only ones on this candy store and lady behind the counter was rude also not wearing a mask..all the other candy stores were closed this one should of been too for rudeness....so sad very expensive also we will never go back... read more

The taffy sounded really good, such as pomegranate, green apple, and popcorn. In addition, I love the different colors of the tafy! However, I resisted because the purchasing line was out the door, and I was too full from lunch to sweets. Thank goodness I didn't get any candy. I would not want to spend $12 per pound on taffy. In addition, I heard that the taffy wasn't very good. All you could taste was the saltwater. Gross. read more

I'm not a fan. Their salt water taffy tastes different (in a bad way) and sour candy isn't up to par either. On top of that, their prices are steep. There are literally 3 other candy shops within less than two blocks. Check out one of those. read more

CandyLand is a small candy store located on Cannery Row in downtown Monterey. It's packed full of different sorts of candy so it can get difficult to walk around, especially if you're carrying any large bags. They have a large assortment of salt water taffy and Jelly Belly flavors, and other gummies/chocolates, etc. However, the candy here is EXPENSIVE (to be expected, I guess), so be prepared for a steep bill if you purchase anything. read more

The cashier was a total ass! He made the experience horrible. He ignored my question when I asked for the breakdown of the pricing. And kept glaring at my boyfriend and I like we were pests not worthy to be in his shop. The candy was way overpriced: I paid $8.92 for not even a quarter pound worth of candy. ... It's $14 a pound! What the heck?!? And the only thing they actually have in there is taffy! About 6 flavors of classic flavored ice-cream, and chocolate cover things. I wouldn't mind the pricing if the guy was nicer but overall the experience was pretty bad. Next time I'll head to Old Sac for my candy cravings. At least they're friendlier! read more

We stopped in here just to check it out. They had so many different flavors of taffy we ended up buying some. We got to the register and had 3 packages if pop rocks that we were charged for, but when we got home they were nowhere to be found. Make sure you watch the Cashier closely. Don' let them pull a fast one on you. The candy flavors are very good, but they are not as fresh and as chewey as they should be. I probably would never come in here again. Wish I had read some of these reviews before I spent my money here. read more

Cute little store with a large selection. However, the lady working the register today gave my mom a dirty look when she asked a simple question, and continued to stare at her as she walked through the store like if she was stealing, when we weren't the only ones in the store. We did buy candy and still with a rude attitude towards us, does not feel friendly at all. read more

I love the wide variety of Taffy flavors available here!! Just to name a few, i've bought: Candy apple, caramel apple, passion fruit, huckleberry (?), cookie dough, guava, apple pie, mango, cran-raspberry, blue raspberry, strawberry, etc. But they also had other many many interesting flavors! They also have other kinds of small candy available and a good variety of fudges also! I bought 1.5lbs of taffy and it costed me $12. So I assume taffy is about $8 a pound? Sounds a bit expensive but it's worth it! Especially since I had to drive about an hour and a half to get here! read more

I would give this place more stars, but the are kind of on the expensive side; while I can understand a price hike for fudge, $15 for a little over a pound of taffy is pushing even my limits. Despite the price, they have just about every interesting flavor of taffy, I think my favorite is red licorice flavor taffy (and for you licorice buffs, they have TONS of black licorice candy). In fact, I bought what I like to call the "dark bullet". It's basically a gigantic black licorice jelly bean, and yes, it did give a strong kick to the anise. I'd visit this place again, but be careful with the bucket, what seems like just a bit quickly turns out to be a lot. read more

What is their problem? Went in with my 7 year old. He picked out a handful of Jolly Ranchers, which was all the candy he was allowed to get. We went up to the cashier, who acted like she didn't see us for just about as long as she possibly could. When she could no longer deny our existence, she grabbed the bag, tossed it on the scale, and then told us that it was store policy to not sell less than $4 worth of candy. I said "so you can't sell this to us?". She said "nope!" and than rather happily threw the bag on the counter with some other similarly skimpy bags. What the f*ck, Candyland of Monterey? Are you all c*nts, are was it just her? read more

This place is a scam, beware. They have a tiny sign on one end of the store that says there is a 1/4 lb minimum for candy (with letters about 1 inch tall, impossible to see in a store full of candy). We got our kids a few candies in a bag from a different area of the store, there was no such sign anywhere near it. It was only $1 and change by weight. They said minimum $4. We didn't want more candy. They said we couldn't return the candy we had picked out because they had a rule about that too. Buying packaged candy, the fudge, or other priced options to bring the price up to $4 also wasn't allowed. The lady at the counter seemed very practiced at talking about this with annoyed customers as this scam is clearly a feature of their business model. Don't go here read more
