This was my second time coming to Revival Ice Cream, and it's definitely a great spot to hit after dinner. One thing I really like is that they offer half scoops, which makes it easy to try multiple flavors in one visit. This time, I went with the cold brew coffee and pistachio, and both were delicious. They also offer a good number of dairy-free options, many of which use a coconut base. I'm not usually the biggest fan of coconut, but I honestly didn't mind it here. It blended well with the flavors. I got my ice cream in a waffle cone bowl, and it was so good. The waffle itself was fresh, crispy, and added a lot to the overall experience, so I highly recommend getting it that way. There's usually a line, but the service moves pretty efficiently. They have a few tables outside, though my friends and I ended up just walking around with our ice cream, which was perfect for the area. One thing that really stood out was their customer service. One of my friends accidentally dropped his cone right outside the shop, and they kindly gave him a brand new one free of charge, which was such a nice gesture. Overall, this is definitely a must-stop when you're in Monterey.
If it's a hot day, expect a long line because there is usually only 2 people manning the registers. Even after we waited in line, it grew even longer, so it's definitely clear this is a popular spot. There's 4 stools and a bar along the window inside for those that want to eat indoors. There's also a water dispenser with paper cone cups in the corner as well. But if you'd prefer to sit out in the sun, there's plenty of patio seating, you just have to snag it right away. I opted for the Bee's Knees which is their staple artisanal ice cream flavor infused with bee's wax and honeycomb candy. Pro-tip: get it with the toasted marshmallow and you could get a live demo! It was pretty yummy too! I also had the butter pecan and it was delicious.

There was no line when we arrived and two barstools at a small counter. The rest of the tables and chairs were in the rain. We ordered the Bees Knees. It was really so good. We sat in the two seats inside. By the time we left there was a line out the door in the rain. I can see why people were waiting. Several people asked for samples like most ice cream parlors offer. Revival does not provide samples. Instead they will replace your ice cream with another flavor if you don't like it. Honestly that seems like a poor business choice. The line goes slowly because people can't decide quickly and there are only two people working the counter. I'm sure the majority of the people asking to taste something will still buy something. That being said if I am ever in the area again I'm stopping by.

The bee's knees is made with real honey and had bits of honey comb in the ice cream. They had some seating inside and a cute outdoor seating area. The young lady at the counter was wonderful and talked a bit about the history of the store. I like that they make everything there. That some really cool and different flavors. I'd definitely come back here again.
Bees knees 3/5 - was kinda disappointed by this ice cream. It just tasted like milk ice cream with honey. Nothing special and wasn't worth the wait. Sad they didn't let us try different flavors. They said we could've asked for a different flavor if we didnt like the flavor but we didn't want to do that
This place is pretty good. The ice cream was very good. And for $6, I think you get a decent size scoop. It is on the pricey side. But that's why they call it a tourist trap right? The only good thing I would point out is that they have frothed honey that becomes honeycomb! If you never had honey or honeycomb in your ice cream then come for that. Thus the bees knees ice cream is pretty good. And the cold brew with other stuff was also pretty decadent too. Overall it's pretty high end quality ice cream. And they have their honeycomb in cookies too if you want a cheaper option. The store is big enough to hold about 30 people give or take. And it was packing that day! Lolz. Service was very friendly. My first time trying it and wow. I'm not a huge ice cream person, but my cousin wanted to go so we went and I didn't know what to choose. I asked if they would give samples, but the girl told me that they would give me the ice cream that I picked and if I didn't like it, then I can just pick a different one. Which I thought was kind of dumb because why wouldn't they just give us a little sample and if we didn't like it we could pick something else. But she told me I would have to order whatever cone I wanted and if I didn't like it, they would just dump it and give me a new one of a different kind. Anyway, I was trying to decide between the bees knees, and the weekly special of the mixed berry cheesecake. I ended up going with a mixed berry cheesecake and it was amazing! Huge chunks of cheesecake balls and the berry mix was delicious. 10 out of 10. We ate outside on the patio. There are no tables inside. Just a small bar. I almost got the two scoop cone, but I'm so glad. I only got the one scoop because it was basically two scoops. It was a ton of ice cream. Definitely recommend going here.

In town visiting and remembering a place here in Monterey that our son mentioned having a unique ice cream that he claimed was the best he had ever had. Well we found it, it's called Revival Ice Cream. Small shop nicely decorated with the information on the ingredients and methods of their unique blend of honey and other natural ingredients in photos on the walls. Bright colors on the interior mixed with photos of the different flavors catch your eyes as you wait to order. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Reasonably priced for specially made products, the waffle cone and waffle bowl are not your normal ingredients. I truly find the normal waffle cone can be too sweet. These both were not, great flavor baked into the waffle that I cannot pinpoint but very delicious. Will have to come back before heading home to try other flavors because we have nothing like this where we live. I did notice you can purchase pints to go and cookie sandwiches with their flavors. Love their bees knees flavor! The honey comb mixed inside the icecream is so delicious! There's usually a line in the summer and if not too too long, it's worth it! They do have 4 bar seats inside to sit at and a small outdoor patio. read more
Ice cream is delicious and generous serving size. Is it worth the 25 minute line on a Saturday night? Eh, you can decide. We had no where else to be so we had fun in line. I hear they ship on gold belly now! The POG vegan ice cream was great and somehow still creamy, loved it. read more

I got the bees knees n bluebrry muffin super fire! Even the waffle cone is delish! Melted marshmallow and cookie crumble is the whey 100%!!! + the ube is bomb with sprinkles! The staff are super friendly great place to eat inside our out. read more

Came around 8:30pm on a Sunday and the line was out the door. It ended up being about a 25 min wait. We also found out that Yelp and Google hours were wrong and they close at 9pm on Sundays during the fall/winter so we just made it! Ordered a mini scoop of the bees knees and kids cookie dough. The bees knees was really good! I like the mini honey comb bites inside. The kids cookie dough was decent as well. They dyed the ice cream blue with spirulina to look like Cookie Monster for the kids. I liked how they have a baby scoop and a mini scoop options in addition to their single scoop. I'm not a big sweet tooth so the smaller size options was a plus! They don't let you sample flavors but said they would make you another one if you don't like the taste. There are limited seats inside and a few tables outside the patio area. Street parking only. read more
I actually thought this ice cream was spectacular. The bees and he really was that ha ha ha ha ha. I also got the peanut butter and jelly which had a really rich peanut butter flavour so if you're looking for something more subtle, don't get that, but I really enjoyed it. they do change their flavours almost daily depending on how the batches go, which I thought was really interesting. Service was really nice but they don't do samples. They basically say if you don't like the flavor, you can change it out but I feel like that's a little bit extra so keep that in mind. read more
We were looking for a special ice cream treat. This place definitely fit the bill. Now if you have littles who have their traditional favorite flavors they may have to expend their pallet a bit. My son wanted strawberry, so he was disappointed to see they didn't have it, and was trying to find an alternative. I got the bees knees which was tasty and unique it was creamy with little bursts of deliciousness. My daughter got their version of cookies and cream. It was also nice and creamy and the cookie bits were soft. My son got a sorbet. I can't remember what it was called but he wasn't a fan as he was looking for something creamy and didn't get the concept of a sorbet. It was ok but was very tart and of course more icey. Their cones are super delicious and a great compliment to the ice cream. Parking is limited and on the street but we were super lucky to get a spot in front. read more
I'm not sure why after all these years of visiting Revival I have not written a review! This place has become a popular tourist spot but even locals enjoy it (including me). I love that their Ice cream menu changes and they provide unique, yet tasty flavors, while also making sure they have some traditional flavors. They offer vegan/non dairy ice cream options and I'm pretty sure their freshly made ice cream cones are vegan and gluten free. Their staff are always nice and helpful. Oh and one of my favorite things is that they offer mini and baby scoop options, for those that want to enjoy some small scoops or multiple flavors. AND they have ice cream flights, which is pretty cool! read more

Stopped at Revival for some post-dinner sweets and was super stoked at the "organic and locally sourced ingredients". I ended up ordered a single split cup of Chocolate Nuts 'N Fluff and Bee's Knees. First: the servings are HUGE. The gallon in front of me had ordered a double in a bowl and kept saying "woah that's a lot!" (In a good way) so I took note and ordered down. The single split was the PERFECT size for one person. The chocolate nuts and fluff was okay. It's a dark chocolate ice cream, and I typically like dark chocolate, but this one tasted a little grainy. I did really enjoy the marshmallow fluff- it was indeed fluffy :-) I probably wouldn't order this flavor again. Now onto the award winning Bee's Knees. This was excellent! The crispy pieces of honeycomb candy took me back to my childhood. One of my fondest memories of Candy was eating imported Cadbury crunchies. They just hit different, and that's what this reminded me of eat time I bit into the crunchy honeycomb. The ice cream itself is a sweet honey vanilla and is done really well. My only complaint would be that the pieces of honeycomb were so big that I only got a few. I would prefer them a little smaller (just a little) and more integrated in each bite. Our server was super friendly! I didn't catch her name, but she was there on the night of October 1. She was patient and able to explain the menu flavors well. The space has indoor counter seating as well as outdoor seats, and it clean and well lit. read more

tldr; Classic ice cream stop in Monterey's downtown. Fast service, excellent ice cream. Revival is a staple in Monterey for ice cream. I've noticed a few more options pop up near the Aquarium, but this still feels like the de-facto option for most. Street parking can be a little difficult, but what I like about Monterey's downtown is the abundance of multi-story parking structures. If you're having difficulty, I recommend parking at "Lot 7" of the Calle Principal Garage. Monterey has excellent walkways between buildings that make access easy. If you can only choose one flavor, it should be the "Bees Knees", which is their signature. Otherwise, most of the flavors are pretty good. I had both Bees Knees and the Papaya Vanilla, both of which are excellent! There's some standing space next to the window inside the shop where you can stand to eat your ice cream, but I think most will use the outside seating in the day to enjoy their ice cream. There are a few metal grille tables and chairs - roughly about 4 or 5, so seating is limited, but if you're not there during peak period (there is usually a queue, but most don't stay to eat), you should be able to grab some seating. If it's your first time in Monterey, you should definitely visit this classic at least once for dessert! read more

We needed something a little sweet and Revival fit the bill. Not much. Just a little something. One scoop of the brown butter pecan ice cream was delicious. Stopped in after seeing a long line early in morning. I thought it was coffee and it turned out to be ice cream. It was cold outside and people still stood in line. I tried it out and tasted pure pleasure ice cream. I will return next time I am passing by. read more

This is a wonderful little ice cream shop; though my most recent trip was a little disappointing. If you're in the area, I think it's worthwhile to stop by Revival for some ice cream. They do get quite busy though, so just keep that in mind. Their flavors change quite often so check out their instagram for the latest. This trip I tried - eucalyptus mint chip: I love mint chip, just not this one. It tasted like toothpaste. Pass. - kid's cookie dough: usually cookie dough ice cream is cookie dough of a chocolate chip cookie. Not this one. I'm not sure what kind of cookie dough it was but it didn't seem to have much flavor aside from general sweetness. Same with the ice cream itself. Pass. - cold brew coffee: great flavor. If you're into coffee flavored ice cream, give it a try. - vanilla chai: another great flavor. More chai than vanilla, which is a good thing. Good cardamom flavor. If you like chai flavor, you'll like this one. - sundae: I had the mint chip and cookie dough in a sundae. If you're up for eating 2 scoops' worth of ice cream, then I'd suggest springing for a sundae. The toppings are good. We got brownies, torched marshmallow, and fudge sauce. And it was served in a waffle cup. I didn't ask for a sample but I'm pretty sure the people behind me were told that they don't offer samples but would give you a new scoop if you weren't satisfied with the flavor. I think this is actually a good policy to keep the line moving. Inside, there's 5 or so stools along the front window. And there's also an outside seating area. So, while this trip wasn't great, the few times I've been before were awesome. read more
Came here on a Tuesday afternoon right before we had to leave Monterey. I got a mini cup of the bee's knees and my husband got the coffee cookies & cream in mini. $4.50 for a mini scoop. Pros: - the bee's knees is a pretty unique flavor (and the one they're knowny for), it has bits of really sweet honeycomb(?) in it and overall has a light honey flavor. Since it's pretty sweet, the mini size was a great choice - Decent prices for a "fancier" ice cream, I guess since it's a small batch ice creamery and unique to the Monterey area. When I get ice cream I'm usually not looking for a large quantity so this was a pro for me (but if you want a LOT of ice cream, you're better going to get a cone in the wharf area nearby). - Fast service, no wait on a Tuesday but I can imagine it's probably busier after dinner or on weekends. - Easy walking distance from most hotels in this area (would actually recommend not driving here because parking can be tricky unless you want to pay for the structure around the corner) Cons: - They didn't let us try any samples, but they were pretty confident and said that if we didn't like what we ordered that they would scoop us a different flavor. - Not too much sitting area in this shop, so it's more of a grab and go place when you're walking on your way to somewhere else. read more

My ABSOLUTE favorite ice cream! FOOD: I love love love the Passion Fruit Mango Coconut ice cream. It is dairy free and it's the spot. Creamy and fruity perfect mix. Does not taste processed like the stuff you buy in the grocery store. I first discovered it while at a resort nearby and had to hit up the actual location. SERVICE: Everyone was very nice. I asked them to get a special scooper because my son has a nut allergy and they quickly went to the back to get one. AMBIANCE: Cute and clean. I love the green logo and touch of decor. Overall, will I be back? For sure, this is a must visit when I am in town. read more
OK honeycomb Bee's Knees vanilla ice cream go OFF! Stopped by for a sweet treat with the girls. LOVE that Monterey has local and small batch ice cream thanks to Revival. They had some unique flavors like olive oil, but their famous one is the Bee's Knees. AWARD WINNING. If you order their largest size cup you can choose two flavors. The others, the mini and the small are just one. Go big or go home! I got to try both flavors and I gotta say THE BEES KNEES is truly something special. Olive oil was barely there, and very floral. My friend liked the blue spirulina-colored cookies and cream, and she loved feeling like a kid haha. I didn't even see that they offer toppings like the famous marshmallow fluff which is popular at The Penny Creamery in Santa Cruz. They have serve-yourself water, and a few barstool seating indoors, but more small tables outdoors--both kid and dog friendly! read more

Our dive instructor told us we HAD to try Revival Ice Cream before leaving Monterey so we made a quick stop! They unfortunately do not offer samples so you have to just pick a flavor and commit!!! They guarantee you will like whatever flavor you pick and if you don't you can come back to get a different one but I could never wait back in line to return a full ice cream cone with my social anxiety anyway! I went the safe route and picked Bee's Knees which was a honey ice cream with honey drizzle and honeycomb chunks mixed in and it was HEAVENLY. I was a bit worried it would be too sweet with the honey on honey on honey but it was perfect and the honeycomb chunks were amazing. I forget what my dive buddy got but she enjoyed hers as well! Definitely one of the best ice cream shops I've been to so I get the hype now! read more
